1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2018 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 02/01/2021

The vehicle when temp is set to high heat then switched to 75 degrees there is a strong coolant smell that comes from the hvac system. It makes me nauseous while driving. Took to dealership where they said they can duplicate the issue. Called Hyundai customer care and they called once and I missed it and emailed them and called and no one has contacted me back. Coolant is hazardous to breath in and they don't take it as a serious matter.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2012 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 08/22/2020

I was driving and the engine started making a noise. All of a sudden it sounded terrible like there were rocks rattling around in the engine and it shut down. I was initially in town when it started and just got on the hwy when she broke down. Hubby, two puppies, and I were stranded in the side of the hwy in 100 degree heat for 2 hrs. Had to rent a moving truck and trailer to make the trek back home to GA. Hyundai service said it threw a rod and shredded in the engine and the entire engine needed replaced. Minimum of $5500 for the engine itself. I switched to synthetic oil on the first change when I got her new and was regular with her maintenance. I was not ready to have to get a new vehicle just yet.

5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2013 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/04/2018

Hello, I am part of a group on facebook for this matter concerning hyuandai Tucson engine failure which has over 200 people who experienced the same or similar issue with the thetha ii engine in the hyuandai Tucson. . My 2013 Hyundai Tucson engine failed July 4, 2018 with approximately 54 thousand miles. I was driving home from a birthday party with my daughter when the car just lost power on a busy road with no warning. It just would not drive anymore. Luckily I was able to pull it over to the side safely and a nice gentleman helped push the car further on the side of the road. I had to sit in over 90 degrees with my daughter for approximately 2 hours with no air conditioning or anything because the car simply wouldn't start back up. Hyundai of centereach it's the dealership I am dealing with. They said there was going to be a recall on this engine soon so they would replace it at their expense. They also informed me that they don't know what's causing this to happen which is not comforting at all since they're putting the same model engine into my car. I've been waiting over 3 months now and they have said they don't know when the engine will arrive and I have been paying car payments and ensurance on a dead car for the last three months. They are supplying me a rental however I don't feel this is enough compensation for the headache I am dealing with. I am a struggling single mother who now has a car I will never trust to drive my 4 year old daughter around in. I'm not sure what to do at this point I am losing hope. Please advise on what actions I can take. I've already spoke to Hyundai motor finance and they refused to help me out at all with even postponing payment until I receive my vehicle. Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 05/07/2018

My car has difficulty accelerating (7x), inability to reverse (2x), and a transmission error that limits my speed (2x). Trouble accelerating is present in all cases. I bought the car new in October 2015, and a recall on the dual clutch transmission (dct) was done in February 2016. The recall was to fix a known problem of the car's inability to accelerate after repeatedly pressing and releasing the accelerator. The problems started in may 2016 after the software update. I took my car to Hyundai and was told it was a normal operation of dct. In December 2016, the second part of the dct software update was done. Once the warmer weather came, my car had the same issues in April 2017, June 2017 (taken to dealer, update), September 2017, three times in October 2017 (taken to dealer, normal), and twice in may 2018. All occurrences were in warm weather (77 degrees to 82 degrees) after the car had been sitting outside all day. Prior to October, all incidences were trouble accelerating after stopping in traffic on the highway. However, one incident in October is also when my car wouldn't reverse, and the other had a transmission error that would not allow me past 51mph. For the second occurrence in may, the car was driven for about two miles, stopped at a store parking lot with the ac running for about five minutes, then had difficulty accelerating, the transmission error appeared again at 32mph limiting my speed, and I could not reverse. I called the dealership and drove the car to them. The mechanic believed my issue and did not want to drive it. My car has been into the dealer five times, and I was just told that my car is acting normally. They are ready to release the car to me; however, I have stressed the safety issue and refuse to take the car back. This car is not reliable and could cause an accident with injury or death. I filed a complaint with Hyundai corporate.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 12/26/2012

The car would not start when I went to start it up. It was parked outside overnight in 20 degree weather and just clicked when I went to start it. I had to call Hyundai roadside assistance to come and jump the car. They did and it took them a couple of tries and they had to use their vehicle, not the portable starter. They said that the battery was drained. There was no reason for that because there were no lights left on. I took it in for service and they checked the battery and said it was it happened again on February 3, 2013 and I had to do the same thing. I had the dealership check the battery and it was fine. On March 15, 2013, the dealership checked the battery and it registered a strong charge. The dealership wanted me to leave the car there overnight to duplicate the conditions of the car not starting up, but were not willing to let me use a free loaner. As the temperature warmed up, it was not an issue. However, today I went to start my car and leave for work, the vehicle did not start up. It just clicked, the radio worked, lights worked, but the engine would not turn over. I am taking the vehicle to the dealership later today and they will let me use a loaner for free. I hope that they are able to diagnose and fix the problem as I need my vehicle for transportation.

Necesito ayuda urgene, please. Received complaint written in english.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2005 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 02/19/2007

I purchased a 2005 Hyundai Tucson on 2/7/07 for which the dealership was not at fault as they were lied to by the previous owner. Within a few weeks after owning the car it would just die anywhere and at anytime. I contacted the dealership numerous times to only get little assistance and a few repair attempts without success. It died 5 separate times on the 14 freeway in the evening after picking up my boys in rosamond and had 5 near fatal accidents which I documented where I was and the time and date. I have a log of all the timed and I am upset that in 7 months the car is still allowed to be on the road. The manufacturer refuses to take it back knowing there is a problem and I am furious. All I wanted was a drivable car and be free from worries.
