Car Stall problems of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee - part 1

I find it very hard to believe when I enter my VIN on your site it shows no recalls for this vehicle but when I enter my VIN on mopar. Com it shows about 4 recalls and three campaigns. My vehicle stalls while driving and it's unsafe for my kids. I got the issue �repaired� and the car stalls even more, there is a huge thump in the engine when I switch gears from park to revers or park to drive. Yesterday when I went to turn my car on the start button got stuck and the car did not turn on, my husband replaced the battery and got the car on but now the car won't turn off.

Car stalls after refueling to full capacity. Shuttered and stalled 3 times after refueling tank. The car gives off multiple warning lights ranging from transmission to battery, despite the transmission and battery being perfectly fine. Once the car begins to stall, the steering locks up and all power is lost. The car must be put in park and restarted, sometimes it struggles to restart.

Car while running or driving just stalls for no reason. All electrical goes out as well. Also might just not start - essentially dead. Open front door and close it and the car starts again. It happens intermittently over the last 3 months. Mechanics are all over the place on the cause.

My car sometimes stall when I stop then takes an extended time to restart. I know there was a recall in 2012 for the fuel pump sensor not sure if I have the same problem.

After having the recall for the transmission control module fixed my car started stalling out. It shifts into neutral while driving and you have to stop and shift to park then back to drive. The contact called an independent mechanic and was advised to contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for them to update the software again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The technician called the contact and informed her the vehicle was ready for pick up however, the failure recurred. The contact schedule an appointment for a diagnostic test which was still pending. The failure mileage was approximately 97,700.

When first purchased vehicle problem were it acting like it wasnt getting up the speed now again im having the same problem as I did before with the stalling and acting like it dont want to run. The gear throtters and the vehicle runs very slow was in traffic and was so afraid someone w as going to run into me cause all a sudden the Jeep started starrling and not moving after a few minutes it then would put up speed this is very unsafe im afraid to drive my 2014 Jeep Cherokee because of the starrling and the transmission light keep coming on check transmission I have taken it to Jeep twice within a two week period and im having the same problem first they serviced the transmission said nothing was wrong with the transmission secondly a week or less later the light came back on again I took it back they said put a brand new battery in it the same problem I asked Jeep was there a recall on that particular vehicle if so it need to be addressed and fix before it causes a tragy accident. Im so afraid if theres a solution that could have been corrected if Jeep been having problems with any tranmission issue with the 2014 Jeep Cherokees . Only had this vehicle 4 years and I keep it service . The vehicle had to be towed over a week ago because of the same issue because the transmission service light came back on the vehicle would not move was fearful. Getting a warning put gear in park cut off vehicle and restart when did it continue to starrled and would not switch in drive motion.

The vehicle switches gears to neural and turns the vehicle off. While driving about to make a left hand turn the vehicle stalled turning the car completely off making me restart the vehicle in this fashion: (step on break, switch gear into park and restart) lots of issues with transmission skipping. This happened after I got it from a dealer only been the owner for about a year seems like vehicle keeps getting worse.

Stalling, when vehicle comes to a stop or slows down it stalls and hard to start.

After filling the vehicle with gas it will hesitate and stall out while driving. It tells you to put the car in park and then you have to re crank it to shift back to drive. After the tank is about 3/4 full it stops stalling.

Every time gas is added to the tank the Jeep stalls out at stop lights. A message appears about putting it in park and then picking a gear. It is dangerous and should be recalled again. The happened on a busy road at a major intersection and at every stop sign and even while slowing to make a turn.

Vehicle occasionally bogs down and sometimes stalls at various speeds and conditions. Sometimes this will occur several times in a row and sometimes it will go days, even weeks without reoccurring. The Jeep dealer kept car for several days said several test drives found no problem and the diagnostics and onboard computer codes were normal. This is a potentially vary dangerous problem if trying to pull out into traffic on the interstate or trying to pass someone. The problem is reported all throughout the internet but nothing in recalls. All recalls on this VIN have been completed.

While driving on 2 occasions this week my car stalled out of the blue and I lost power. Additionally my car on several occasions has shifted into neutral on it owns while driving. After doing research on the problems I found that some 2014 Jeep Cherokees were recalled for this exact issue but my car was not in the recall.

My Jeep sputters and dies after gas fill up. Very dangerous as it happens at random and has scared my family as trucks bare down on us as we are stalled in the road unable to get car to restart. About 1 to 3 miles after fill up the problem disappears until next gas fill. Please issue recall before someone gets killed. In motion car is sputtering and unable to gain speed. Once at a stop car immediately dies locking all power functions and is difficult to restart. This has happened several times.

Within two minutes of starting the vehicle and driving it on the road, the vehicle was stall mid-traffic and become inoperable. The battery light then comes on with an error on screen with something to the effect of, "car must be in park in order to shift. " turning the key does nothing until 3 minutes of causing a traffic hazard when the engine finally turns over. Also the transmission has rough shifts at slow speeds causing the vehicle to suddenly jerk forward as if the gas was aggressively pushed down. This jerkiness to the transmission and speed has almost caused me to hit parked vehicles when trying to park the vehicle in a parking lot area.

Filled up the gas tank and Jeep started stalling with in the first mile of driving, was thinking it might be the fuel cap so I tightened it and drove the Jeep for a few miles and everything went back to normal. Next time, after another fill up a month later, my car stalled when I stopped at a stop sign about a mile after fill up, I was able to pull over, and I checked the gas cap again to be sure it was tight and restart the engine, then while in motion going thru a turn at an intersection about 1/4 of mile down the road, it tried to stall again but luckily didn't completely shut off,and the transmission shifted to neutral, and the display said I needed to place Jeep in park then select drive. I was able to coast to the side of the road, and placed the shifter to neutral then back to drive. I proceeded down the road and the vehicle again shifted in to neutral and the display stated the same, to place in park then select drive. This all happened within two miles after filling up. I drove it anothe 60 miles or so after this with no problems. Had no real problems before this, other than the shifting lag everyone has complained about. All recalls have been addressed. Not sure if this is one problem causing the other or two separate problems. I will test it out on a back road and try to get a picture of the display if it happens again and plan a visit to the dealer for a service check after the holiday weekend.

The contact stated that his daughter parked and left the vehicle running to burn fuel to drive the vehicle without issues. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.

After fueling, the Jeep will start surging, the idling becomes erratic and then it will stall out with the parking brake light coming on, service transmission light comes on, the d on the ip flashes and when placing gear selector from d to p, the Jeep makes a loud clunk which can be felt thru the floor. Shifting into any other gear does the same. This has happened over 10 times since purchasing new. We never top off the fuel tank and take care to fill up if tank shows 1/4 full. It's been to the dealer, at least twice, to have the transmission "flashed" but the problem keeps recurring. Each time the dealer (greenville Chrysler, greenville, TX) tries to charge us a diagnostic fee which we adamantly reject after the first time because the problem is exactly the same. Just 4 days ago, my wife was turning left at a light from a stop, after fueling, and it stalled in the middle of the intersection. She was able to restart it and drive but she could hear the loud clunk when putting it in d. She immediately came home and parked it and I confirmed the cel, service transmission light, parking light, flashing d on the ip and I switched from p to d and r and it clunked each time. I unplugged the battery to see if it would clear any codes and "reset" and let it sit overnight and this morning it started up fine with no warning lights on the ip. We took it this afternoon to pick up our son from school and it did the same thing with all the warning lights, clunking when shifting gear and we limped it home. I've disconnected the battery and will reconnect in the morning and take it to the dealership.

Car literally stops working while driving, locking steering and no power brakes to stop. Has happened twice, while turning both directions. Others online have had it happen while driving straight, and crashed as a result. Jeep dealer blames oil level, transmission, and software, but no fixes have helped. Currently installing new transmission due to horrible shifting. Dealer states oil level can be 1/4" low on the dipstick (within the safe zone) and it can make the car quit running while you are driving 70 mph down the highway! many others have experienced the same issues! this is a dangerous car that must be taken off the road immediately.

On 3 occasions since obtaining this car it has stalled, struggled with power, and would suddenly stop while moving in traffic. The dashboard would light up, the car would give several messages and would refuse to start. The most dangerous time was when traveling at 35mph there was a loud boom and the car suddenly stopped jerking me visciously and forcing several cars behind me to slam on brakes, nearly forcing an accident. When taken to the dealership I was told the software needed to be updated. This has happened twice with sudden stops and the first time it just wouldn't gain power and was shifting very hard. The car has been in the shop and I have driven loaners more than this vehicle I purchased in January. I fear for my life and will not take a road trip because of what may happen. Please help!!!.

Vehicle stalls while driving. Taken to stetler Jeep in york PA 3 times and thornton Jeep in red lion, PA 2 times. They will do a "software update" or blame it on the oil being low or oil getting past the oil filter. They will say it's fixed, it will work for a few months and then the issue will reoccur. Car will stall/shut off while driving and a transmission service message comes up and the car will beep/ring. Car will some times work again if restarted and sometimes be inoperable for up to 25 minutes, leaving you stranded on roads and highways and unable to move it to side. Jeep dealerships are not able to fix and just keep saying it needs an oil change, which they are the ones doing. This is been happening for years and is dangerous. Jeep is dismissive of their vehicle just shutting off while driving.

This is the second time it's happened. After I fill up a tank load of gas, the car wants to lunge forward after coming to a stop. It does a few jolts before it picks up speed. Today, when I cranked it, it stalled. I turned it off then cranked it again and it was fine. Then I pulled out the driveway and proceeded to drive down the street (35 mph). When I approached the stop sign, the car said �shift to park to shift gears. � I shifted from drive to park, waited a minute, then back to drive. The car would not go. I turned it off and then back on, shifted to drive then proceeded to drive. I got up to 45 mph and approached a stop sign. The car said �shift to park to shift gears. � at the stop sign, I shifted from drive to park, waited then shifted to drive. The car would not go. I turned it off then tried to turn it back on and it stalled. I turned it off then waited a few minutes before turning it back on.

Vehicle will stall while driving with an error message displaying "park to shit gear". Had battery replaced as that is what local Jeep dealership stated issue was. Problem actually worsened after this.

After each time of re-fueling the vehicle stalls while trying to drive, doesn't want to run; vehicle asks to be shifted into park and we try and pull over off on a busy 6 lane roadway. Screen says service transmission after stalling. Then the vehicle got stuck in 3rd gear. Weren't sure if we would make it home. Called Jeep customer service and they would not help in any way.

Multiple times after fueling up my vehicle my car will start to shake and sputter and just stall. Has happened while on the highway with my family and almost caused a bad wreck. Most recently it happened again on local streets. Dealer keeps saying they can't figure it out but I videotaped the issue. Also when fueling up the vehicle it gives a problem and takes forever to fuel up and spits gas out and back on to me . I don't feel safe driving this car anymore with my family and fca doesn't want to acknowledge there is an issue and says just fill the tank up only 3/4 . . Something needs to be done !!.

Car started to loose power while driving down the interstate, acted like it was going to stall, giving more gas only made the problem worse. Was not able to go over 45 mph unless going down hill. Had the same problem 6 months ago and was covered by warranty. Took car to the dealership and this time its not under warranty.

When the vehicle was in motion, I was on a city street, the vehicle randomly stalled while driving 10mph. The dash screen stated, "place in 'p' then select gear. " I then placed the car in park and tried turning the ignition but it did not start. I had to get a stranger to jump start my car and eventually the car started. This happened a few months ago and since then this has happened twice. The second time this happened, vehicle was in motion while pulling into a gas station on a city street and it randomly stalled. I turned the ignition and it started up. This is extremely dangerous and thankfully on both occasions there has been no car driving behind me.

The car continually stalls out without warning. I have taken it to our local dealer twice and they say they can not find any problem. At first they stated the oil level read low. We had them do a complete oil change and one month later the same issue. After reviewing the internet it seems to be a very dangerous safety issue that chrylser Dodge Jeep just wants to ignore. Mostly occurs when slowing down at a stop sign or red light. Will stall in the middle of the road and the check engine/battery light displays. You need to wait 2-3 minutes and restart. All diagnostic tests report negative. Fear for my safety and that of those on the road with me!.
