Several dashboard warning lights lit up at the same time (with alarms sounding continuously): check engine; parking brake; service airbag system, traction control off, seatbelt warning gear indicator lights were all on at the same time: p, r, n. D and the manual shift +/- indicator (all lit red) the transmission would not shift (out of what felt like 3rd gear) while driving down the freeway. A few times, the transmission would not shift out of neutral, and I could not get the car to move (after coming to a stop) on the off ramp and on the side streets. Key fob would not lock or unlock the doors or set the alarm.
Gear shift error lights! while driving all the service shifter lights came on. Pulled over to shut off the car and the lights went off. When I picked up to speed the lights came back. The car shuts off when turning and started jerking with take off. Once the power shuts off the car didn't want to start and turned over until it caught on. I drive around a large city with lots of highways for a living and I am afraid the car may loss power in traffic! this issue has been happening since summer 2020.
The �service shifter � icon was illuminated as well as the gear selector indicator lights. This is the second time this has happened. After reviewing web sites this is an inherent problem with the Jeep Cherokees.
When the vehicle is moved from park to any other gear, all gear indicator lights, light up as well as a message displaying "service transmission shifter". This seems to be a very common issue that nobody can seem to get a straight answer as to how to correct the issue.
At about 20k miles, a warning on the display popped up that says, "service shifter" and all of the gear shift lights all lit up. This happened two times, once while the vehicle was in motion and once while it was parked. After those two times, it stopped and didn't happen again until now. The issue has returned at 45k miles and is happening a lot. When it happens while I'm moving, the engine revs up really high. When I'm parked and it happens, I have to turn the vehicle off and back on before I can shift into gear. The dealership has not provided a solution.

Service shifter displays on dash when turning on the car. The gear shift lights all turned red, and there was no ability to switch gears. The vehicle was stationary at the time, and the shifter was reset turning the car on and off.
While driving, the "service shifter" warning light comes on and all gear lights on shifter illuminate. Stopping and restarting the engine temporarily fixes the warning. This has already been "fixed" once by the dealership where it was purchased at considerable cost to us. Now it is happening again.

I panicked because I was out of state in augusta, GA but lives in madison, al. I was stressed and pulled over to google this to see if there were instructions to follow. According to the dealership in marietta, GA � ed voyles� they never heard of such a complaint. How many complaints have to be done before this becomes a recall.
Transmission locks into gear during light throttle or no throttle loads repeatedly. Happens on downhill driving or at a red light/stop sign. Car has no power and has to be driven off to the side to reset computer or left sitting in an intersection while waiting for a tow truck (one time). Dealer is aware of the issue and is replacing parts from the computer to a complete transmission now. Wife feels unsafe in what should be a brand new problem free car.
