Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problems of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

The transmission light has been on pretty much since I got the vehicle. Have taken it in to orileys and was told codes were either transmission or firing. I was told to change the coil packs. This seemed to fix the issue of it bogging down while driving. Like it wouldn't shift. If u put it in manual it would work. Coil packs fixed all that. Now my wife drives vehicle in detroit traffic and the vehicle just slips out of gear while driving. Has been very dangerous while in flow of high speed traffic. Vehicle like wanting to stop immediately and almost get rear ended.

My 2016 Jeep Cherokee all red lights next to the shifter come on and a message appears on the dash says service shifter, the car drops out of drive gear into neutral. I sometimes can reset it by shutting the car off and restarting but that does not always work and the car then has to be removed from the road. This has caused me to be put in some very dangerous situations as you can imagine. What is more dangerous than being on the highway and losing all forward motion.

I have owned this vehicle since April 6, 2019. It repeatedly and without warning shifts out of gear and comes to a stop. The srvice shifter warning light comes on. I have brought the car to herb chambers Jeep in millbury MA. 4 times and they are unable to fix it. The last time this happened on April 22,2020 the charlton MA. Police responded and had to direct traffic around my car till it was towed. I do have a police report with 3 pictures if needed. This was on rte 20 in charlton while moving.

Similar to other Jeep Cherokee year models, my 2016 Jeep Cherokee slips out of gear into neutral while driving, either between 1st to 2nd gear or 2nd to 3rd gear. Makes for a dangerous ride with my 2 children in back and the car basically stops working and cars in back of me have to slam their brakes so to not run into me. This happens randomly, whether car has been driven for 10 minutes or just started.

While driving on a highway with a speed limit of 65 mph and heavy traffic, all of the sudden my vehicle would not shift out of 3rd gear. Once I reached around 40mph and tried to accelerate I felt knock and shaking. The engine would continue to rev, however no acceleration or shifting would happen. It begins to sputter and feels as thought the vehicle is going to shut off. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

My Jeep does not shift out of first gear and sometimes second until the engine reves up high and then shifts suddenly with a forceful jerk. Sometimes upon acceleration on the highway, the vehicle will down shift as you would expect, and then does the forceful sudden jerk when it goes into a higher gear. It has been forceful enough to feel as though someone has bumped into my vehicle. I have taken it to the dealership and to my independent car repair place and neither can find anything on the computer diagnostics. It happens randomly but has begun to happen more frequently.
