I was at a red light trying to make a right turn. Suddenly, the car stalled. My steering wheel was also frozen that could not be turned anymore. The dashboard displayed "shift the gear to p". My steering wheel was also frozen that could not be turned anymore. After I did that, I was able to restart the car. This happened on a city street but still very scary due to stalling. I checked online and it seems there was a recall about stalling before, but I was not contacted by Jeep; and I did not send my car anywhere for this matter.

After having the recall for the transmission control module fixed my car started stalling out. It shifts into neutral while driving and you have to stop and shift to park then back to drive. It will not idle for long and will die if you don't constantly pump the gas pedal. It almost died on me while making a left turn into a parking lot in on coming traffic. And it didn't want to go up hill into my driveway, which is a tiny incline. I didn't have any issues with my car until after the recall.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle stalled with the instrument panel indicating shift to park and shift to desire gears. The failure recurred numerous times. The contact also stated that while entering a driveway or while in reverse and also while driving the vehicle would start to shake and jerk violently. The contact also mentioned that the steering wheel locked up and pulled to the left while her daughter was driving. The instrument panel indicated shift to park and shift to desire gears and also indicated service transmission and also service brakes. The contact powered off the vehicle and restarted the vehicle, shifted out of neutral then into park before selecting drive. The vehicle drove normal to half a block before the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to spirit automotive Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (4611 avenue q, lubbock, TX 79412), but was not diagnosed. The mechanic updated the transmission control software under NHTSA campaign number: 19v447000 (power train). The contact called an independent mechanic and was advised to contact the manufacturer. The contact schedule an appointment for a diagnostic test which was still pending. The failure mileage was approximately 97,700.
When first purchased vehicle problem were it acting like it wasnt getting up the speed now again im having the same problem as I did before with the stalling and acting like it dont want to run. The gear throtters and the vehicle runs very slow was in traffic and was so afraid someone w as going to run into me cause all a sudden the Jeep started starrling and not moving after a few minutes it then would put up speed this is very unsafe im afraid to drive my 2014 Jeep Cherokee because of the starrling and the transmission light keep coming on check transmission I have taken it to Jeep twice within a two week period and im having the same problem first they serviced the transmission said nothing was wrong with the transmission secondly a week or less later the light came back on again I took it back they said put a brand new battery in it the same problem I asked Jeep was there a recall on that particular vehicle if so it need to be addressed and fix before it causes a tragy accident. Im so afraid if theres a solution that could have been corrected if Jeep been having problems with any tranmission issue with the 2014 Jeep Cherokees . Only had this vehicle 4 years and I keep it service . The vehicle had to be towed over a week ago because of the same issue because the transmission service light came back on the vehicle would not move was fearful. Getting a warning put gear in park cut off vehicle and restart when did it continue to starrled and would not switch in drive motion.
Vehicle stalls when slowing down. Restarts after several tries. Stalls when in motion and slowing down. This has happened 3 times with the first being 5-15-20.
The vehicle switches gears to neural and turns the vehicle off. While driving about to make a left hand turn the vehicle stalled turning the car completely off making me restart the vehicle in this fashion: (step on break, switch gear into park and restart) lots of issues with transmission skipping. This happened after I got it from a dealer only been the owner for about a year seems like vehicle keeps getting worse.
Stalling, when vehicle comes to a stop or slows down it stalls and hard to start.
Every time I don't get an oil change right away, my car will stall in the middle of the road at random times with no warning. I have been with my two young children in the car when this has happened several times, it's extremely unsafe and I am so tired of this issue. I've spoke with the dealership and they said all Jeep Cherokee's are like this, as if it is normal. We are lucky we haven't gotten into a crash due to this. This is just ridiculous and I'm looking into doing a buy back for this car. Can't trust Jeep now.
The car will stall while making a turn (slowly or fast) and will also stall while coming to a stop. The oil light will come on for a split second then cut off. The vehicle will then stop running but will remain in the run position and you'll have to start the car again and wait for it to turn over as it sounds like it's dying. This happened again as I entered the highway. If I hit a bump it will say 4 wheel drive is not activated but will limit the rpms to 2000 so you will have to shut off the car again. I've seen numerous complaints about this and seen the 2017 and 2019 had a recall for it, why doesn't the 2018? it also has the service shifter problem where all the lights come on and you have to restart it.
After filling the vehicle with gas it will hesitate and stall out while driving. It tells you to put the car in park and then you have to re crank it to shift back to drive. After the tank is about 3/4 full it stops stalling.
I bought my Jeep Cherokee latitude plus in may 2019. 6 months later the stop/go function stalled and the car turned off during a turn at the light. I almost gotten rear ended with my daughter in the back seat. Had to put it in park to get it to turn on again, mind you I am still in the intersection. The car turned on but continually did that at least twice a week. The is unsafe to drive, I do not know how it has 4 out of 5 stars. The car has a hard time starting. I have to try several times to turn it on. Until recently, it just won't turn on any longer. Battery is fine. The starter is not doing its job. I have to get it towed to the dealer about an hour away to get it looked at and fixed. Don't know if it can get fixed. I have read that other owners of this vehicle have had the same trouble and seems as though their car is always in trouble.
Stalling issue. Stalls during a hard turn or stop. Dealer keeps telling me its due to trans recall. It is not it is due to low oil pressure, safety shut off. My vechicle has done this since new. Now over 40,000 miles and continues to be a death trap waiting to happen.
While driving the vehicle behind to stall and then cuts off in the raid without warning, as I turned into traffic. Vehicle starts with no warnings of any sort but then as I am driving cuts off as I am turning into the roadway and there is traffic.
Every time gas is added to the tank the Jeep stalls out at stop lights. A message appears about putting it in park and then picking a gear. It is dangerous and should be recalled again. The happened on a busy road at a major intersection and at every stop sign and even while slowing to make a turn.

Within the first 3-5 minutes of driving the vehicle after starting it, an error message will appear that says to put the vehicle in park and select a gear. This message usually appears when I begin slowing down towards a stop light or stop sign and prevents me from accelerating and I also lose my power brakes. Once my vehicle is stopped. I'll switch into park like the vehicle says but when I switch back to drive I have no power. I have to turn the car off and attempt to restart to get power again. Multiple times this error has caused the car to stall and cut off while still in motion. Once the car is off, I have to usually wait 2-3 minutes to restart it an it can take multiple attempts to restart the vehicle. This error is extremely dangerous as it causes the vehicle to lose power while driving and leaves the driver stranded with the vehicle in the middle of the road often in an intersection.
Vehicle occasionally bogs down and sometimes stalls at various speeds and conditions. Sometimes this will occur several times in a row and sometimes it will go days, even weeks without reoccurring. The Jeep dealer kept car for several days said several test drives found no problem and the diagnostics and onboard computer codes were normal. This is a potentially vary dangerous problem if trying to pull out into traffic on the interstate or trying to pass someone. The problem is reported all throughout the internet but nothing in recalls. All recalls on this VIN have been completed.
While driving my Jeep its completely stalled out loosing power steering and electrical , had to manually get it to the side of the road. A previous recall ua9 has been issued for this problem but my VIN doesn't match even though it did the same thing.

While driving on 2 occasions this week my car stalled out of the blue and I lost power. Additionally my car on several occasions has shifted into neutral on it owns while driving. After doing research on the problems I found that some 2014 Jeep Cherokees were recalled for this exact issue but my car was not in the recall.

My Jeep sputters and dies after gas fill up. Very dangerous as it happens at random and has scared my family as trucks bare down on us as we are stalled in the road unable to get car to restart. About 1 to 3 miles after fill up the problem disappears until next gas fill. Please issue recall before someone gets killed. In motion car is sputtering and unable to gain speed. Once at a stop car immediately dies locking all power functions and is difficult to restart. This has happened several times.
While driving slowing and coming to a stop the vehicle's battery light will start flashing and then the car will stall and shut off. I put the vehicle in park and turn it off for 15 seconds then turn the key to start it again and the car will crank over very slowly and sputter for about 4 second before starting again. This has happened 3 times in 2 week. The first occurrence was Monday Jan 6 2020, 2nd was Jan 10th 2020 and third was Jan 13th 2020. I took the car to the dealership Friday Jan 10th and they told me they could not recreate the issue and gave me the vehicle back. I was told if it happens again then to call back.
Within two minutes of starting the vehicle and driving it on the road, the vehicle was stall mid-traffic and become inoperable. The battery light then comes on with an error on screen with something to the effect of, "car must be in park in order to shift. " turning the key does nothing until 3 minutes of causing a traffic hazard when the engine finally turns over. Also the transmission has rough shifts at slow speeds causing the vehicle to suddenly jerk forward as if the gas was aggressively pushed down. This jerkiness to the transmission and speed has almost caused me to hit parked vehicles when trying to park the vehicle in a parking lot area.
This has happened multiple times to my vehicle. It first happened at roughly 6,000 miles and is now happening again at 12,000 miles. Each time, when I was coming due for an oil change. The vehicle will stall out in the middle of the road as I come to a stop. Sometimes it will restart, but other times I have to jump it. This will happen at a complete stop as I'm trying to get going again or as a I am slowing to a stop. It will happen on any road at any time whether going straight or turning.
Vehicle driving and when coming to a stop it seems like the auto turn off wants to turn off even before stopping. Feels like its going to stall. Also leaving a red light when it auto turns on it jerks and then switching from first to secong gear it jerks. The transmission has so much lag switching gears and picking up speed it also jerks and takes forever to pick up speed. But my most concern is gear switching and jerking and almost stalling when coming to a stop with the auto shut off trying to turn off while driving. And when it turns back on it jerks when you give it slight gas.
I was stopped on a busy main road in my town, to make a left into my neighborhood and my Jeep Cherokee stalled. The dash lit up with put in park and restart car. I put it in park and the car restarted. I drove to my house and parked the car. I had to use my other car to go to work because I was afraid for my safety if I drove my Jeep Cherokee.
Car stalled and the panel stated shift to park on panel and would not crank back. Tried multiple times and had a long hard crank and engine finally caught up and cranked. Shifted into park and went about 1000 - 1500 feet and it died again. Waited and tried to crank again and went to hard crank again before starting. Took to dealer and they claimed low oil. This is the reason for going dead. Stated I needed oil changes every 5k after I was told initially 10 k then at 1st oil change told 7500k and then at this problem they stated no it was definately 5 k. This time, panel lights up and says service shifter soon. All lights on drive shifter lights up. Not just on park or reverse or drive. All lights illuminated. They come and go. I also have smelled something burning the last day or so as well. Could not confirm yet. I will continue to watch out for this. 1st date 12/4/19 and serviced at dealer on 12/5/19 mileage 31146 and now this is 2/4/20 mileage today is 34116.
