1 Engine Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/07/2020

My Jeep is having tranny issues and is making very loud engine sound due to the tranny lagging, which is making motor rev really high, and sometimes it is not predictable, which at that point causes the motor to be sometimes real jerky or jumpy randomly causing it not to run right!. . Or have a rough ride or it's shifting to shift right or even to go to the next gears. . Seams like sometimes,it wants the motor to blow up !!!.

Response at complete stop when pressing acceleration pedal. Not safe when pulling into traffic. *this has happened multiple times. *tapping engine noise.

3 Engine Noise problem of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/22/2020

When coming to a stop on a city street my vehicle dinged, turned off and a message displayed on the dash shift to park or neutral, press brake, select gear. I could not use my steering wheel or breaks during this time. I put the vehicle in park, turned the ignition off and full took my key out. Then attempted to start it. I only heard a slight sound but no turn over. I repeated this step and this time, after momentarily sputtering, I was able to give the car gas and it stayed on. I could smell oil at this point. It seems this is related to excessive oil consumption, which triggers the car to shut off to protect the engine. Except the oil level in the vehicle is fine and there are no prior warnings before this happens.

4 Engine Noise problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/07/2020

5 out of the last 6 times when I am leaving the house, the engine shuts off when I make a left hand turn. When I restart the engine sounds like the battery is dead. It takes a few seconds, but then the engine finally restarts. I only have had this problem in the morning.

5 Engine Noise problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/10/2019

While we were driving, a message came on the dashboard to service transmission, and then we were not able to accelerate. We pulled over and turned off the car, and then started it back up and we drove fine for about a minute before the same message came up on the dashboard. Again we were not able to accelerate even though the gas pedal was pushed all the way. It wasn't making any noise. We called the dealership and all I was told was to turn it off for about 5 minutes and turn it back on to see if the service light would reset. If not to call a tow truck to take it to the nearest dealership, but since it was Sunday they were all closed. All my family was with me in the car which was very frightening. I followed the dealerships instructions but it did not work. We stop at a stoplight and it didn't want to move forward once the light turned green. We turned off the car and turned it back on and it went again. We were about 45 minutes away from home so we just headed back. The service message never went away and were only able to travel at low speed. I have called fca in the past when a service transmission message popped up on the dashboard but it just flashed and didn't stay. This is a new car and I am very upset it has all these issues.

6 Engine Noise problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

Vehicle has had two episodes of shutting down while driving. I had no brakes or steering and nearly went through a stop sign in to traffic. I could not find the repair bill for the first episode. Car had to be towed once. The other time I was able to get it restarted. Engine idles rough, lurches forward when taking foot off the brake, and occasionally has loud engine noise when idling. When acclerating in this vehicle it rattles. Vehicle speeds up when going down hills with cruise control and then engine has a high reving sound to the point it sounds like its in neutral or is going to explode. Also had issues with the stop start light coming on as malfunctioning and the engine light.

7 Engine Noise problem of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/22/2018

My 2017 Jeep wouldn't start on September 22,23 2018 while parked in driveway. It made a sound like the battery was dead and didn't have enough juice to start. After attempting to start multiple times and trying to turn off radio and headlight. It finally turned over, but after returning home from running errands, the following morning on the 23rd it wouldn't not start until I received a jump. There was a p code on the dashboard of car. Ive also experience issue with it not wanting to excellerate even with excessive amount of pressure to the gas peddle.

8 Engine Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/26/2018

Today being 7/26/2018. Today my vehicle just shut down while coming to a stop sign in the morning, and again in the afternoon when making a u-turn. And for about 2 weeks before, a few times I felt the engine attempt to shut off when coming to stop signs and lights, which the vehicle shaking would take place and the motor sounded like it was going to die. In the case of transmission, for the past month in random moments while stopped at an incline or turning onto an incline street, the gears would delay shifting into the next gear, and it would sound like rpm was reaching higher than normal rotations before actually shifting into the next gear, the car jerking from the catch. All events occurred while vehicle was in motion, on streets, both when turning or stopping, or incline climb involved.

9 Engine Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/30/2017

After filling my tank with gas I turned onto a nearby roadway and felt my car sputtering and jerking. As I came to a slow stop at a stop light my car abruptly slammed to a stop and made a loud bang/slamming noise and prompted me to shift to park and restart the car. I followed these commands and the car would not move. As soon as I would shift out of park the loud slamming would occur again and I began to smell fumes so I stopped trying to follow the prompts. I put my car in neutral and pushed my car out of the moving traffic lanes and got it towed. The dealership claimed nothing is wrong with my vehicle and gave it back. I have experienced the same issue 3 times since. They replaced an evaporation pressure switch the second time I took my car in and this still has not fixed the issue. The last time the issue occurred I was slowing down on a highway in dense traffic and as traffic started moving again my gas pedal stopped working. I could not accelerate when I pressed the gas I only heard loud revving noises as my car coasted. . When I went to press the brakes and pull off the road I immediately heard the loud slamming noise and my car broke down again in a very unsafe location on the highway. I waited one hour and my car was able to restart and I slowly got it off the highway with my e-lights on. I will be taking it to the shop after the new year. . Again. Worst of all after looking into this issue online I see it is common among Jeep vehicles. Not just the Cherokee. Happens after I gas up. It is extremely unsafe as I have almost been rear ended at high speeds by other cars on the roadway. Has been listed in forums as somesort of rollover fuel valve. Please investigate before more serious injuries or even death occurs assuming that hasn't already happened. Also please note that since the work they did on 2nd visit to dealer I have had check gas cap and engine lights on.

10 Engine Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/11/2017

One morning I started the car, I heard water moving from the engine area. While, driving the car I heard a noise's like a pressure cooker sounds. Once I arrived at work I walked around to the passage side to retrieve my staff. I could smelled antifreeze. I contacted Jeep right away and they contact a tow company. It was drop off. The dealership worked on it for a couple days. They did pressure test for external leak, didn't locate a leak. They didn't do a internal examine. It's 2 year old vehicles already leaking antifreeze. I have my vehicle into the dealership twice but still smell antifreeze. Two pressure test later nothing. I just pickup my vehicle for the second time. Why is Jeep vehicles having so many problem. My psi, transmission and radio making sounds when its off. Jeep is a bad vehicle and it just a matter of time, humans might be in damage due to the uncaring manufacturing company that makes lot's of money of the back of working americans.

11 Engine Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/07/2015

I was moving very slowly in the second from right lane on route 287 in new jersey. In my attempt to change into the far right lane to be in my exit lane I accelerated heavily. The engine surged and made noise appropriate for the situation but did not actually engage in moving the vehicle for approximately 1-3 seconds. This could have caused a serious accident. Jeep dealership has been advised. Thank you.

13 Engine Noise problem of the 2000 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/24/2004

2000 Jeep Cherokee engine stopped without warning. ** answer required***. There was a hole in the piston. After the dealer inspected the vehicle, they stated there was not enough coolant in the system which caused the front frost plug heater to come out and that the no 1 and 2 piston melted down. The consumer had to replace the engine with only 42,000 miles on the vehicle. The rotors were replaced twice. The rubber around all four doors shrunk to the point that wind and water would come through. Periodically, when the vehicle was locked the headlights and taillights would come on and go off for a few minutes. The chrome on the wheels was corroded and coming off. The front passenger electric lock was making a strange noise when the doors were lock or unlocked.
