When in motion or parked, turning on my heater, my screen shows engine over heating. I've checked coolant and oil levels and are well over half full. . My car is less than 3 months old, so this issue should not be happening. I've searched the internet and it seems to be a reoccurring problem with Jeep Cherokees.

My 2014 Jeep Cherokee has randomly been popping up a must be in park to shift message followed by the battery sign and then just stalling out. The dealership is attributing this to low oil level. My car never gives any kind of message that states the oil level is low and is not showing that the vehicle yet needs an oil change. Dealership states its because of intermittent oil pressure. The car stalls out to protect the engine from over heating. I think this is a very unsafe feature for my call to stall out with out any warning in the middle of a busy main city street. This happened four times in five days before I finally demanded the dealership provide me a loaner car because their next available appointment was 3 weeks out.

Vic display show "coolant sensor bad. " online investigations reveal many owners have experienced the same problem over the years. Their trial solutions have ranged fromn replacing the "coolant temperature sensor," the coolant level sensor," replacing "connecting wiring" to the vic, and to removing the vic to repair solder joints and cracks at the circuit board that is located in the vic. Most report that the first three attemped remedies did not resolve the defect. Some report success in re-soldering joints on the circuit board. The latter,--removing the vic and repairs at the circuit board-- is an involved process and requires extensive knowledge and repair tools and equipment. All report that this condition left unresolved could lead to the engine overheating and/or faulty data sent to the fuel injection system, and possible engine fire. With so many complaints on this defect, a recall or a manufacture repair bulleting, should be issued at the manufacturer's expense.
