On numerous occasions while driving, the Jeep has not shifted gears properly and engine shuts off. Engine will be in drive and upon trying to gas the engine, it fails to shift automatically and engine shuts off.

This has happened 4 times now starting in Jan 21, 2020. Stopped at stop sign and shut off. Tried to restart and would not. Waited about 3 minutes and it started. As I slowed down for another stop sign it shut off but restarted immediately. As I slowed down for another stop sign I turned right with out stopping and the engine shut off. All the idiot lights on dash came on. Battery was fully functional. Car would not start for 45 minutes and then it finally started. Car was taken to dealership and they could find nothing wrong. Their answer was �if we can't duplicate it there is nothing we can do. If it happens again bring it in�. What is that suppose too mean? it happened again on 5-13-20, 5-15-20 and 5-31-20. All these times it was when we are driving along and making a right turn. Engine just shuts off. On 5-31-20 I was in a traffic lane making a right turn with other traffic behind when the engine shut off. The driver behind me was beeping his horn for me to move as he had not known my engine shut off. Would hate to have this happen if I was on an interstate. Just had the battery replace under warranty on 5-28-20. Engine oil gauge read 54% not sure what the problem is but sure doesn't sound safe to me. Calling the dealership tomorrow to get an appointment.

Bought my vehicle 12/21/2017. Have had nothing but problems ever since. Took my car to nyle maxwell in austin where it was purchased several different times. I was always told there was nothing wrong with it. In November 2019 my car broke down and I paid to have it towed to the dealership in sa since that is where I was relocated to for work. Blamed it on my oil which I was never notified by my vehicle it was even low. Engine has not been acting right since. 5/21/2020 I went on a trip but only made it to waco. Vehicle shut off going 70 mph on the freeway and I almost got hit by several different vehicles because of it. 5/26/2020 dealership called me to let me know I was getting a new engine since mine was compromised by the oil it was consuming. Now I am being told that I have to drive it and test it before they will replace it. Have done an intensive amount of research and this is a huge liability to put my life in danger for a test they need for the company. Called the location I purchased it at and surprise they will not take care of it. Nothing but problems with this vehicle since I purchased it and they have never done anything to make it right.

While driving the vehicle, the engine just shut off and all warning lights were displayed. Luckily I was not in heavy traffic or on highway. Had to wait about 30-45 seconds before it would restart. This has happened 3 times in the last month ( April). Is there a recall for this. I've looked into this problem and there are several complaints of this same issue.

The service shifter light keeps coming on. With that. . The lights next to the park, drive, neutral and drive letters all turn red. I'm taking it to a dealership this Saturday and I know that it will cost me. I had my two kids in the car 1 and 3 years old when it happened. My car was parked overnight in my garage because it's been raining all week and I didn't want to get out into the rain to let my two kids inside. I drove it about a mile down the road when this problem started. I read that this is a reoccurring problem with this vehicle that a lot of people are having. Some say the problem gets worse like the vehicle shuts down while driving and others say they have to keep paying to have it �fixed� but the problem with keep happening. Also my vehicle had a misfire on the 2nd cylinder and my vehicle kept jerking two weeks prior to this incident but we also paid to get that �fixed�. I got this vehicle because I needed something reliable to drive my family around in and it's causing me more headache and now I have to worry if my kids are safe to ride with me in it.

My 2017 Jeep Cherokee has shut off while driving 6 times in a week and a half. Its always within a few blocks of start up. There are no warning lights, the car just shuts off while driving and takes several attempts to start it back up. All 6 times it has been while driving less than 25 miles and hour and has occurred without warning. Too scared to drive it on the highway. We had it to the dealership before with an issue with the "service shifter" light coming on and all the lights on the shifter were lighting up and causing the car to shut down. At that time, they said it was the shifter bezel and they replaced it. Now we are not getting a warning light at all before the car dies. This is an extreme safety issue and I am actually scared to drive my Jeep that I have had for less than 3 years. When talking to the dealership, they are saying they have had no reported issues with this before. We will find out today what they say and I will repost. I am very upset that there are so many complaints on here for the same thing and no one has done anything about it. Also, when we scheduled the appointment with cronin Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram in lebanon ohio, we were told they no longer give loaner vehicles. When did this change? especially for an issue with a vehicle that is an obvious manufacturer issue.

Car shuts off while driving , engine stalls , car downshifts when excellerating on highway . Dealer has replaced engine and transmission, car still shifts rough and has started stalling again.

Was driving down road and car shuts down and says must be in park to shift then traction light engine light battery/alternator light comes on have to pull over turn car off take key out put back in let in try to turn over a few times then will start I will be going anywhere from 30-60 mph and it does it I take it to dealer can't find the problem due to it not happening in there possession.

While driving the car will shut off completely, locking the steering wheel and rendering the brakes and the gas ineffective. . . The first time I was driving 65mph on the freeway and it shut off. Luckily there was no one on the road, I was able to coast to a stop, shift to park, and restart the engine. . . It proceeded to happen multiple times, no matter how fast I was driving.

My car doesn't hold oil oil change and not even two weeks later my car is dying in the middle of the highway and I almost got killed by a car also are you going around to turn in my car dies because there's no oil even though I just got an oil change weeks prior but my car doesn't hold any oil and my car shuts up I almost got killed several times and he give me the runaround my car is brand new only year old and I spend 100s on oil but I'm scared for me and my child life!! when I'm turning in front of car how would you feel if your car shut off there a car coming I'm very angry and upset I'm paying for a car I don't feel safe in.

Vehicle shuts off while driving. Happens mostly in the morning and after making a turn. The vehicle has shut off at random times throughout the day and evening. Could be a cranking issue as it happens mostly within a half hour of starting. Every incident where the vehicle has shut off while driving has been on a street and while accelerating in motion. I was in an automatic car wash and after it was finished my Jeep would not engage into drive from neutral. I had the automatic engine shut down turned off. I tried multiple time from shifting from neutral into drive. I also restarted my Jeep twice and on the second time it started and I could drive away.

Transmission shifts up to 7th gear and than down to6th gear some times engine shuts off than restart while driving highway traffic. Transmission shifts but engine red lines before you go in gear.

The 2018 Jeep Cherokee latitude consumes oil and has a mechanism where if the car is low on oil it will just shut off when driving. This is a serious safety hazard as the car gives no warning it is low on oil. Someone is going to get killed one day when these cars just shut off in the middle of driving.

Engine shut off while vehicle in motion with foot on accelerator (traveling ~10mph). . Lost power steering and brakes. Notice appeared on dashboard about shifter. Tried to power engine back on to no avail. Waited a couple of minutes and vehicle was able to start again.

After refueling, my wife stopped at a stoplight and the engine just shutoff with out warning. The screen in the car said to put it in park and then in drive. The car then start with out pushing the start button. This happened four times in the same day so she drove to the local Jeep dealership. Jeep said it was a problem with the fuel pump module and it happens when the car is over filled. My wife always stops putting when the pump handle clicks off. They have had her car for over 30 days because there are no new pumps available. This is a major safety issue that can happen at anytime. Her car has only 36,500 miles on it. This is a known problem and Jeep is not doing anything to fix it.

The vehicle shuts off while in drive and results in hard start with rough idle. The vehicle says that it is in park and needs to shift into gear in order for it to move. This vehicle was in motion and happened multiple times on city streets, highways, turning, and braking. This could result in a fatal crash for others on the road. Ecu tcu ecm are believed to be at fault for this per Jeep. The Jeep is in shop and awaiting invoices to see if this fixes the problem. I believe it is the same recall as the v6 version.

My car starts and will drive then randomly turn off while I'm slowing down or waiting to turn. It shuts off the engine and battery light come on. I wait a few seconds and it starts right back up. It does it at least once a day but when I take it to the auto shop they can't identify any codes or anything that's wrong.

I brought a 2016 Jeep Cherokee in July 2017. I was having issues with the car the first month I brought it. Vehicle loses power while driving, engine shuts down, steering locks and the dash lights up with a message that says put vehicle and "park" and then select desired gear. This issues has happened twice once I was at an intersection and the second time I was on the freeway. This has happened 3 times in the last month. This is dangerous and scary as this could have caused a collision. I keep my vehicle up to date on maintenance/service. It doesn't make sense that I am paying a car payment, have less than 62,000 miles on a less than 3 year old vehicle, and having these kind of safety concerns. . Today, my car died with no warning on a busy road, gives me approximately 10 seconds to pull to safety before there is no speed/ability to maneuver the vehicle. It is ridiculous that the risk is so high, and the number of complaints listed on line show a serious issue with this among hundreds of vehicles by Jeep and nothing. The dealerships/service continue to make comments like "we were unable to replicate the issue". To be specific: driving at about 25 miles per hour, straight following a right turn. . . . Lost power. Lights went on the dash, message above appeared. It took two tries to restart to get me out of the middle of the road. I had the car towed to the dealer and they had no explanation for me both times this happened. As soon as they would connect it to diagnose they said the codes would clear and the car was working. Its a waste of money because im going to get the same answer. I just dont know what to do now. This car has but my children and my life in danger. Chrystler and Jeep will not acknowledge the fact they have a major issue with their Jeeps engine. I guess Jeep will resolved this issue when someone get in an accident or die.

Making a right turn, engine shut off no power, lights stated I must be in park to shift warning lights. The Jeep would not start. I had experienced no prior issues before this happened. I called my husband who arrived and drove it home. I called the dealership and they basically told me this was a known issue with this motor and to check the oil. Upon checking the oil there was very little on the dipstick. Once again I contacted the dealership and was told I basically need to keep a check on the oil. This is a safety hazard!.

Around 76k on 2016 Jeep Cherokee sport engine that messed up going down the interstate, I quickly exited then it shut off and did not want to stay running. Now dealership says they don't understand why zero compression in cylinders. I kept oil changed every 3k due to daily miles. It is terrible that the manufacture cannot be held accountable with all of these complaints.

The vehicle has been having transmissions issue and was also found to have a defective battery 3 weeks ago, so the safety concerns of this vehicle continue to grow. After researching, I learned this is an extremely common issue, often caused by low oil, or no cause found. There are high risks to life and property for a vehicle that will just shut down at will without any warning.

As I am driving my car stahl's and everything shuts off. This typically happens as I am making a turn. This typically happens as I get closer to the date of my next oil change. The car shuts off completely and I must coast to a stop. After waiting about a minute I can restart the engine. This is a very dangerous situation as I am typically turning to cross traffic.

"takata recall" my 2019 Jeep Cherokee (latitude plus, fwd) always having issues. Vehicle engine shuts off when driving. This vehicle is not safe to drive, having to drive across amtrak tracks to get to work is just not safe, when this happens the battery light turns on, not to mention the rotaries sound of a crunch when driving. How many oil changes do this car really need in 2 months, driving 5 miles times 5 day to and from work? I always have at least 2,000 miles left before oil change is needed.

2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude stalls while the vehicle is in drive. The entire vehicle shuts down, the battery light displays, and the vehicle must be stopped, put in park, and restarted. This issue was noted by a recall earlier this year by Jeep, but service for the recall was ineffective and issue remains. Both experiences were while the car was in motion (driving) at approximately 35 miles per hour both on low grade inclines. The first experience was with less than 1,000 miles on the vehicle and the 2nd experience was at approximately 35,000 miles. Also, the speed control of the vehicle is inconsistent with both lurching at take off and slow acceleration.

I was driving on interstate and stepped on brakes because cars were slowing down when I began to brake the engine shut off. Message said shift to park and start engine. Cars were honking. I did what it read and it took seconds but turned back on. It took some explaining to the dealership after my personal research in waiting room for 4 hours. They found the codes?? it happened again but more seriously on a toad with traffic moving I stepped on brakes to make a left turn but it turned off! cars slammed on their brakes. I did what message said it took longer this time. I pulled into a parking lot and it turned off again when I stepped on brakes to park. I can't get a dealership to help me?? tomorrow I'm going back to the original service department that found the codes in January. This is scary.

When slowing to a stop, my car's engine shut off and the car displayed the battery warning light. I was able to restart the car without issue after a few seconds.

Bought a 2016 Jeep Cherokee with 60miles on it within 3 weeks car shut off 3 time while driving with signal shift gear comes on. Have to put car in park and turn off car and turn on a few times and it will be fine two months later it happens again this time happening a few time in the same day a few minutes apart. Low oil indicator never came on. The vehicle randomly shuts down, when the oil is to low without any indication light coming on that the oil is low. This has been a common problem to the point where the dealers know exactly what the issue is. My vehicle shut down without warning in the middle of the road when turning right and indicated that I needed to put it in park and restart it. I checked the oil and it was almost dry! I added oil and will be taking it into the dealership! this Jeep only has 25k miles on it.
