1 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/09/2020

I was driving home from work one night and all the dash lights come on and the vehicle completely stalled in the middle of the highway. I had to attempt to pull over and switch the key off and back on to restart the engine. I also have been at a stop multiple times and turn out into the road and my vehicle won't go, which could result in me getting hit. I also had my recall fixed for the power train, went back because I received another letter saying it was possibly not fixed and it still tells me the problem was not fixed on my vehicle. I cannot use cruise control on my vehicle because when it goes down the slightest hill, curve, whatever, the rpms go all the way up and just sit there, even when I have turned off the cruise control and braked it still stays shifted up for a long time. I regret purchasing this vehicle, especially with a baby on the way any day now and her safety being at risk. We are in the process of finding another vehicle.

2 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

Three times while driving, then making a 90 degree turn, my car has stalled out. The only light that comes on is the battery light, and a message on the dash that says something like "car is not in park" . Each time this has happened I have had to pull quickly to the side of the road, put the car in park and restart the car. There is never any warning light that the car is about to stall; the only light that comes on is the battery light, and that is after the car has stalled. I've taken it to the Jeep dealer and they told me that the oil was low and it is actually a safety feature that the car will stall when the oil is low. My car is new, it only has 5200 miles on it. The oil should not be low. Furthermore, I do not consider it a safety issue that the car stalls while driving, without any warning that the car is about to stall.

3 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/10/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 70 mph, the gear shifter failed to move into neutral and the service transmission warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. Then vehicle was restarted and was able to drive; however, the failure recurred five miles down the road. The contact stated that the coolant increased to 200 degrees. The vehicle was taken to Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram 24 (1020 belmont st, brockton, MA 02301, (781) 961-1550) where it was diagnosed that the transmission, four spark plugs, one coil pack, an auto grill shotter, and jumper harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

4 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/21/2016

When the weather is over 90 degree the engine does not start while using the push ignition button or the remote start. The ac and radio are operational however the vehicle displays a check engine light along with other service park brake warning message. The vehicle will not start till the weather cools down and gets below 90 degrees. There is possibility this issue can arise when driving the vehicle, in which case it could be deadly.

5 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

Tranmission jerk often, engine something about to shut off, I was at mcdonald drive thur, and the tranmission jerk alot , and engine shut off. This is not my first times that happpen. Went to dealer 5 times and inform them off the problem, they look at it and said there is nothing that they can find. It because they not driving it everyday. This was the worst purchase I ever did. I wanted a Acura but wife like the style of the car. I regret getting this car. If I can replace it I would definitly do it today. Worst car ever 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Or at less a replacement vehicle.

6 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

2015 Cherokee latitude 4 cyl. Have had vehicle for 2 months, during this time the transmission has had a mind of its own. Accelerating during braking, which in and of itself is extremely dangerous as it has happened while slowing to make a turn, if you need to turn at 10 mph and the car accelerates past 25 you are looking at an accident waiting to happen. Lag in downshift while trying to accelerate, loud un explained clunk while placing into park, numerous engine warning light activations. Called local dealer and was informed that I needed to wait a few days to see if warning light resets itself before bringing in. The transmission never seems to actually shift into 9th gear, which inturn hampers the fwy mileage claims associated with this vehicle. Ive noticed the transmission temperature exceed 240 degrees on numerous times, this cannot be good. I will be taking vehicle to dealer, hopefully in an effort to get this resolved. With all of the reviews and problem, will it take an unfortunate fatality for Chrysler to actually resolve this, as in the case of the Toyota acceleration problems?.

7 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

2014 Jeep Cherokee wrangler 2. 4l 4wd. Vehicle shuts down completely during driving operation. This has happened off and on since last fall (2014). Happens multiple times during commute, including when engine is first warming up and when vehicle has travelled for some distance. Some days it does not occur at all. Engine temperature seems to have no relation to incidents. Speed has no relation as it has occurred at 5mph up to 65mph. Ambient temperature has no relationship as the temp has varied from 0 to 80 degrees f. Took to Chrysler dealership shop on 12/30/14 - Chrysler dealership shop did not find cause but did update bcm based on TSB. Problem continues to occur. 5/20/15 - 2015 Jeep Cherokee back in shop for same issue.

8 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

Vehicle would not start due to failed totally integrated power module. The tipm would not send power to the fuel pump and engine would not start. Chrysler knows about this problem but fails to take responsibility for the defect.

9 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/30/2013

The tipm (totally integrated power module) is on back order and now Chrysler is saying its backordered to January 14, 2014.

10 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2011 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/16/2012

Diagnosed as tipm problem (totally integrated power module) car initially had problems with headlamps and wipers malfunctioning, then ignition wouldn't turn over and then when it finally did the car could not be turned off! brought car straight to Jeep dealer after it wouldn't turn off and was told it was tipm. They said part was backordered over a month and car can not be driven in the meantime. This is a huge consumer problem across the country with multiple model Jeeps and several model years. The part is impossible to get and I was even told a boat sank and that it why it is backordered nationally for months. Looking at other consumer complaints online this should be a recall. Cars are not able to be driven and people are waiting months for the part.

11 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/17/2012

My daughter called because of a noise in the engine compartment. I went to her work, raised the hood, started the engine, and shortly 1-2 minutes thereafter, a loud popping/grinding occurred. The fan disintegrated sending parts through the radiator, shroud, and toes of my left shoe. And injury could have occurred but did not. I found 1999-2004 Jeeps had a recall for this very type of event. However, it missed he VIN. I believe all of these vehicles should be included in the recall. My youngest son has a 1999 that the fan came apart damaging the radiator and resulting in engine failure. I have owner 7 Jeeps but never seen this before. Any assistance in alerting the public will be appreciated.

12 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1997 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/01/2010

1997 Jeep grand Cherokee laredo 4. 0l i6 began stalling in 2010 under seemingly random conditions. Replaced several parts (spark plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor, ignition coil, pcm) over the past four years to no avail. The difference currently is that the stall now only seems to occur at temperatures less than 65-70 degrees f. The colder the environment, the worse stall probability. Colder temps also increase probability vehicle will not start after a stall. Vehicle will always fire up on a cold start. Stall occurs at varying speeds (including at idle), but above approximately 40 mph stall becomes what seems like a misfire. Believe I have narrowed the problem down to an intermittent connection in the wiring harness, either at the gray pcm connector (closest to body), or in the wire leading to this connector. Putting enough pressure on the wires under the pcm in a certain direction will cause the vehicle to hiccup or stall. Only code ever shown related to stall was the unspecific p0351 ignition system code. Fortunately, if a stall occurs at higher speeds, engine/vehicle speed must still drop to a certain level before power steering/braking are lost. Otherwise vehicle would be too dangerous to drive. Nevertheless this is still a hazardous condition.

13 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 2000 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/16/2008

Low oil pressure: I change my oil as specified in manual. Now all of a sudden I have a drop in oil pressure. When driving the Jeep my oil pressure is now at no more than 25psi and it drops to zero when idle. On my last oil change I had the engine checked and there were no cracks and no misfire. I had a tune up done on the vehicle in sept 2008. Engine and everything was running fine. As for that day I have to get the Jeep to mechanic to take a look. This past summer the Jeep also would over heat in 90 degree weather and it mostly happened when the ac was turned on. Took it mechanic and couldn't find anything wrong we replaced the thermostat with a lower temp and seemed to fix the problem. Then about 2 days later the Jeep started to overheat again. Replaced the relay as it tested bad. While replacing the relay the fan broke. The blades completely separated from the fan motor in a whole piece. Replaced fan. Never thought I had any coolant leaks and never found any but the coolant will not stay in the reservoir. It just disappears. I had the engine inspected again and no cracks and the oil appeared to be fine. There are thousands of complaints for this what is going to be done? anything? it's not like I can afford anew car or thousands in parts and labor. Also have other issues I well 1st another complaint for the electrical issues.

14 Gas Recirculation Valve (egr Valve) problem of the 1998 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/02/1998

Belt pulley disintegrated after 2600 miles on new vehicle. Fragment of pulley was ejected at sufficient velocity to puncture hood leaving approx. 1/2 inch hole. At approx. 65 mph the engine rpm was only approx. 2500. It is possible that this failure could occur in a standing vehicle, causing a hazard to others.
