3 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

Service transmission error alerting after car reaches 50mph. Car loses ability to change gears and drops drastically in speed. Extremely dangerous in traffic. After reset which only lasts a short time and error continues. When car is put in park temporarily resets but then errors again over and over when speeds increase. Red service engine light stays on regardless of any reset.

5 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

Service engine light comes on while in motion on the highway when trips are over 45 minutes. While service engine is lit up, the car will not accelerate and I have to pull over to the shoulder. After turning engine off and back on, car will then accelerate. This has been taken to the dealership and code was p1da9. Dealer claims that there is nothing they can do to fix this code at the moment. Code was cleared and after another trip, the same code came up.

6 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

On 2 seperate occasions in the past month, vehicle is driving straight on the highway just fine when the vehicle unexpectedly loses power (does not stall, simply will not maintain speed, until vehicle finally coasts to a stop as the momentum fades). Transmission light & other lights illuminate, finally the service engine light remains lit. After a prolonged resting of the vehicle (typically 15 minutes or more) the vehicle then becomes able to move again, but must accelerate very slowly at first. Eventually vehicle can resume normal speed. Very dangerous as vehicle loses ability to move during crowded rush hour traffic!.

7 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/25/2015

I started leasing this brand new car July 2015. Initially there were a few minor shifting changes that felt unsteady. Coming home from work one day in October 2015 I noticed the car was not accelerating, would shift poorly into different gears and was jolting. At the same time the "service engine light" turned on as well as a message stating "service transmission". I waited seven hours for Jeep to tow the car, it took them one week to diagnose, and they estimated another week to repair. So far they've had the car for two weeks and the estimate pickup day would mark 17 days without the car if its even ready on time. They are replacing the entire transmission.

8 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/19/2015

6/19/2015: transmission/electrical issue when attempting to shift the vehicle into reverse it would shift into neutral instead. Had to shift to park and then back to reverse before the vehicle went into gear. This was the fourth occurrence of this issue since purchase date. Airbag warning message and indicator light turned on when shifting from park to reverse and to drive. Electronic stability control indicator came on repeatedly while driving. 6/22/2015: transmission/electrical issue vehicle would not shift from park to reverse. After several minutes was able to put vehicle into park, and eventually powered vehicle off and on and was then able to shift from park to reverse and then drive. Airbag warning message and indicator light turned on and electronic stability control indicator came on. 6/23/2015: transmission/electrical failure – odometer at 800 miles. While driving, the vehicle suddenly went out of gear. Climbing a parking garage ramp the vehicle stalled, the parking brake turned on, the airbag service message and indicator turned on, the service engine light came on, the windshield wipers came on, the media console and bluetooth connection failed. After several minutes of attempting to shift gears (could not get the vehicle into park, drive, or reverse, and parking brake kept engaging), was finally able to power the vehicle off. Once the vehicle was powered back on, was able to shift to drive, and drove directly to the dealership. Check engine light remained on and electronic stability control indicator came on repeatedly while driving. Delivered vehicle to dealership for inspection and repair, and am awaiting resolution as of 7/20/2015.

9 Service Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/31/2014

The car is only 5 months old. Has a zf 9 speed automatic transmission and 3. 2l 46 24v -vvt engine. I was driving on a tollway in moderate traffic at a speed of approximately 60-65 mph. Without slowing down or changing speed, the display on the dash listed "service transmission". All power to the engine was lost and car began to slow down. Would not respond to acceleration. Check engine light, stability control light, p! were all displayed. Had to find a way to the shoulder and stop car. Turned off car and restarted it. "check transmission " was displayed. Put it in drive and it felt like it was starting in 2nd or 3rd gear. Would not shift gears. Could get up to 35 mph with the tach at 2000 rpm. Would not shift at all. Got home and let car sit for a few hours. Started car after sitting for a few hours and the "service transmission" was gone. All other warning lights were gone except for service engine light. Drove to dealer next day and car appeared to shift ok. Dealer loaded pcm flash update. Reprogrammed tcm per TSB 21-018-14. Reprogrammed rf hub per 08-077-14. Car appears to be driving ok. Dealer said they couldn't find any problems with the transmission. They treated this very lightly . I feel this is a significant safety issue. Lossed all acceleration and controll at high speed. No notification of updates were sent previously.
