My complaint involving my vehicle and its now defected parts or unsafe status to operate is due to mechanical workmanship. I purchased my vehicle 3 years ago. Never had major problems with it and maintained it well and regular tune-ups. I invested in buying all parts needed as time well ware and tare. Im not too familiar with auto parts or work but as im putting more money into "new parts" my car seems to slowly continue to fail. All I know is I relied on certain mechanics to improve the condition of my car. I had a operable vehicle until I drove into this auto shop and left having to tow it out. I simply asked to change front brake pads, roters, and ignition switch (electrical part). Im told to purchase other parts that include screws, steering column, and key locksmith/ fees. Nothing got resolved and electrical everything stops working. Jeeps front driver tire stays on a flat and to make matters worse a Chrysler dealership is the only place that can fix this. The mechanic spoke to the dealership and finally seemed to have it figured out. $50 was the price I was told I would be left with. After running test and diagnostics, prices changed and more work was needed. Its been a little over 2 months since ive been without. Now im told I need to pay in full $1500 before they will work on my vehicle. I havent been offered a rental muchless been satisfied with the work done. I feel like my car has been stripped of paid parts. Ive looked online for advice and help as what I should do but no action has been done. I would appreciate and greatly be thankful for someone to look into the safety and work performed to my Jeep. As for the recalls the service tech named off several that he stated were taken care of. To my knowledge ive never been aware of any.

Please provide an update on the data below. I'm extremely nervous about the fuel tank mounted defect and ignition switched that shut off while driven. My vehicle has shut off while driving. I have experienced all the issue as the previous owners regarding my Jeep including the headlights issue. On January 21, 2015 I have contacted the Chrysler corporation regarding the recalls and per lynn the recalls were only for Jeep Grand Cherokees from 1993-1998 and libertys from 2002-2007 but the reports states "additionally, Chrysler also agrees to conduct a ¿service action for 1. 14 million Jeep Grand Cherokees for model years 1999-2004. " my uncle has a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo and his vehicle has a trailer hitch to protect the gas tank. I have notice several models from 1999-2004 Jeeps with trailer hitch mounted to the vehicle. There is controversy about the trailer hitch modification to resolve the issue but I would feel safer driving this vehicle if a trailer hitch was installed as Chrysler has committed to the public. November 2009: center for auto safety submits formal request asking national highway traffic safety administration to investigate 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee¿s with fuel tanks located behind the rear axle. June 18, 2013: Chrysler agrees to conduct a ¿safety campaign and install trailer hitches on 1. 56 million Jeep Grand Cherokees from 1993-98 and Jeep liberty suvs from 2002-07. Additionally, Chrysler also agrees to conduct a ¿service action for 1. 14 million Jeep Grand Cherokees for model years 1999-2004. Chrysler dealers will inspect those vehicles and replace aftermarket trailer hitches with original equipment trailer hitches. Jan. 17, 2014: NHTSA says it approves of the proposed trailer hitch remedy, saying it ¿has no reservations at this time, and giving Chrysler the green light to move ahead.
We are a used car dealer, bought this vehicle for resale, trying to do the right thing by getting the factory recall completed prior to resale. Have been waiting for 145 days for Chrysler/ Jeep to get the parts to complete the recall. We now have 5 of these units waiting on Chrysler dealerships to complete the recall.
