The vehicle has been experiencing stalling a couple of times before at low speeds. Also failure to start and a fan like noise coming from around the fuel pump. Chrysler issued a recall on the fuel pump relay, but I am seriously concerned since this is an issue with the tipm and that is not being addressed. The dealership is scheduling 2 months out hoping they would have the part by then, while I am driving with 2 kids in a car that shuts off on the highway at 50 mph.

49 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2014

The first time my Jeep stalled I was going around a turn and almost crashed into a highway barrier. I waited a couple minutes, turned my car back on, and kept driving. The second time it stalled, about 1 month later, I was turning into my driveway. It would not turn back on at this point. I brought it to the dealership and after 2 hours of diagnostics they informed me it was the tipm and would be $1,200 to fix. After searching online about this part, I noticed many other complains of this same issue for a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This is clearly a faulty part and should be recalled. If my vehicle had stalled in different conditions, the results could have been fatal.

I ask both of them, what if it stalls and I am in a crash. There responds was that they hope that doesn't happen. My question is what can I do about this situation? thank you.

52 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2014

On Saturday morning after pulling out of a parking space my car stalled and lost power steering. I put it in park and restarted engine it was fine. Went to other store, parked it and the same thing happened once I returned to leave. When I got home I shut off the ignition switch and after app. 8 seconds I heard a sound coming from behind the fuse box area or at least behind that area . Sounded electrical "vooop, vooop" I also noticed when going up an incline around 30 mph the car had a huge delay, I had to push the gas pedal practically to the floor, and than it kicked in and zoomed off. I felt like I was loosing power and than the car took off on its own! crazy feeling!!! I feel as though the computer that is in charge of the car is out of wrack and the car has become inconsistent to drive because of what could occur next. I also lost brakes this winter while driving due to brake booster failure which eventually became a recall. I was scared then and I'm afraid this incident may result in something bigger and worse. :(.

53 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2014

When trying to start my Jeep on Friday 7/25 I found that when I push the start button the vehicle would not turn over. It would engage and attempt to turn over but would not start. I tested the battery and it read to be normal and upon further review I found many other consumers had the same problem, the vehicle would randomly not start. This happens to me about once a month since we purchased it in March of 2014. I've read from others there is an issue with the tipm which will cause the vehicle to not start or completely stall out while driving which did occur one time to me in June on a trip from ohio to maryland!.

54 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

On July 19, 2014 my vehicle ceased to start properly. It would turn over and over and after several attempts would finally start. Additionally, there were several incidents of stalling at a stop sign or exiting the freeway then difficulty restarting. This became more and more frequent, and each time my mechanic was unable to pinpoint the cause. September 4th is the last day that my car started. I had it towed to the mechanic who after having possession of my vehicle for 3 weeks unable to pinpoint the issue, found through research that Chrysler had announced a massive recall for this exact issue. He referred me to the Chrysler recall specialist phone number, which I called immediately. My first four phone calls were nothing more than a run around game until I found the information on NHTSA website. According to the NHTSA recall information, repairs were set to begin 10/25/14. According to Chrysler, the notices were set to go out by mail on 10/31/14 the gentleman assured me that I would also receive an email recall notification to provide the repairing dealer on 10/31/14. I make an appointment at rancho Jeep for recall p54 repair at 10am November 1. 10/31/14, 3pm, I have yet to receive an email notification. I call Chrysler again and am now told that I had been misinformed, it is a preliminary notice, no repairs can be done. My Jeep is still nonoperational, since September 5, 2014. The vehicle cannot be repaired because there are no parts to replace the faulty part with. . . I have had a rental car for almost 3 months because of this recall issue, costing nearly $800 each month. Chrysler refuses to accommodate a replacement vehicle or reimburse rental expense wholly or partially. My vehicle would be operational if not for this factory recall p54, and I would not have incurred $2400 rental car expense to date.

56 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2014

The vehicle stalls while driving. When this happens, it is very difficult to steer the vehicle safely out of harms way. I am in fear for the safety of myself and my family. I have had several close calls where we almost caused an accident. The fuel pump relay switch was replaced by recall and the vehicle is still stalling. I have contacted Jeep customer care via email and by phone and they will not give me a case number. I take the vehicle to the dealer and they cannot find anything wrong with the car. I don't want to sell the car knowing whoever purchases it could be seriously injured or killed.

After much research, I have found that my tipm is bad. My vehicle started experiencing issues with starting and stalling in January of 2014 (@ just over 30k miles). Initially I did not think much of the problem as it was in January and cold here in colorado. The problem mildly continued in Feb and March. . . Fast forward to July 2014 and the problem became more prevalent. I finally have an appointment with the local dealership to look at the problem (tomorrow - 28august2014). It is now a daily occurrence that my vehicle will not start without many attempts and once it does start, it stalls and the engine turns off.

62 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2013

Jeep Grand Cherokee started having a slight miss in early July. Then Jeep would not start. Waited 2 minutes then Jeep started. Had Jeep serviced including new spark plugs from Chrysler. Still had miss at idle. Drove Jeep from northern California to southern California. Still had miss. Sitting in heavy traffic Jeep stalled and caused a traffic backup. Waited for a couple of minutes then Jeep started. Took Jeep to the Jeep dealer in Aug. Dealer did software upgrade. Still had rough idle and hard to start. Took Jeep in again. They said to order a tipm. Dealer said it would be at least several weeks to get the part and to park the Jeep due to the stalling out situation. Wrote an email to the Jeep ceo. Jeep responded. The tipm was replaced in early sept. Stalling is gone but the rough idle is now back. This issues could be very dangerous. Considering how Jeeps are used (off road, long trips) one could easily be stranded or worse. Given the number of complaints and the long period of time to get a part it would seem like a recall is in order. It appears that the part is no longer manufactured due to a bankruptcy of the oem. There are thousands of us having this problem and we need help!.

66 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

In June 2012 I began having issues with my vehicle giving a hard start and stalling. I reported it several times and carried it to the dealership many times. They installed a device to track what is causing the stall issue. They said the device did not read anything but the stalling was not happening as often after this device was removed. In October 2014, my vehicle began giving the hard start again every single time I start my vehicle and the stalling became very frequent. On November 4,2014 my vehicle stalled out and did not want to start resulting in me having to rent a car. I am really frustrated with this situation because all it is goin to do is affect another part on my vehicle. I had this for 4 years and I've had so much problems and had to change so many parts. . . This Jeep is the lemon of the bunch.
