Made an appointment at autonation on i45 in spring, TX to clear up 3 recalls, one of which was the sun visor wiring cbxdp361ab. I dropped my car off at 845 am. I was informed my car would be completed @ 400pm. When I checked in with the service advisor I was informed my car was ready and to pick up the key from the cashier. I picked up the key and invoice from the cashier and one of the recalls said no work performed. I found the service advisor who said she forgot to tell me that the part was on backorder and she had no idea when the part would be in. That's unacceptable for a recall to occur and there's no answer to when the recall will be resolved.

On Dec 29, 2017 I made an appointment with world Jeep in shrewsbury,NJ to address 3 recalls on my 2012 Grand Cherokee. The appointment was made for 8:00 am on Jan 3, 2018, the Jeep service person confirmed that the needed parts were in stock. 1) sun visor wiring this was a recall on a recall r71 they confirmed parts were available and scheduled service I was advised that the car should be done by noon. When I had not heard by 4pm I called them - they stated that the service advisor would call back. . After 45 minutes (now 4:45 pm) I called again. Again I was told I would receive a call shortly. About 15 minutes later (now 5pm) I received a call from the advisor that said 1) the brake booster water shield inspection was just being started 2) they had not done anything on the sun visor replacement and would not get it done today ! 3) I could pick up the car around 5:30 when they should be done with the inspection. I asked are you telling me that you've had the car for 9 hours and done nothing ?' she replied thats about it ! its out of my control. This was after they had the vehicle almost for 9 hours. Had they informed me at dropoff of the fact that they could not perform the scheduled service I would have gladly rescheduled. Instead I wasted a day waiting by the phone. To hear from them. So in summary I waited a day for them to compete a recall inspection that should have required at most an hour and I will now have to reschedule probably 2 more days for the remaining service recalls. This was my 3rd Jeep but I would have to seriously reconsider if I should ever buy another one from this dealership or Jeep. Attached is the service sheet showing the drop off time (8:04am. Promised time (9:30 am) actual delivery time 17:30). Service 1) not performed 2) not required.

I have a safety recall on my vehicle, regarding the wiring on the vanity lamp on visor. I contacted the dealer that I purchased it from and scheduled the 'warranty recall' appt to repair. When I arrived, they had me to leave the vehicle with them. I returned later that day to pick it up and was informed they didn't have part. I asked if they would contact me when they get it and they never did. It's been 4 months now. What do I do?.

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

Sun visor wiring recall r71. Received a recall notice from Chrysler today indicating that a wiring problem may cause a fire. Notice stated that they expect to have a remedy available in the 4th quarter of 2016. This does not represent "remedy the defect within a reasonable time". Nhtsa should put more pressure on Chrysler to address this situation in a more timely fashiion. Was Chrysler not already fined for being too slow to address safery defects?.

My Jeep has been on recall for over 7 months to fix the sun visor electrical problem. I am told they are working on a permanent fix since the other two fixes does not work. This is a huge fire/safety issue and it seems Jeep takes forever to immediately repair any recall item. Here is a cut a paste: NHTSA recall number: opens new window takes away from VIN lookup section> 15v-879 recall date: February 11, 2016 manufacturer recall number: r71 summary: the sun visors on your vehicle may experience a high resistance short at the sun visor vanity lamp wiring after a service repair to the sun visor, headliner or while gaining access above the headliner. Safety risk: this may result in an inoperative vanity lamp and/or an electrical fire. Remedy: a permanent remedy for this condition is currently under development. Fca is making every effort to finalize a remedy and obtain parts as quickly as possible.

6 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2015

Vehicle was in motion when I noticed smoke coming out of the passenger vanity mirror area. I immediately pulled over, turned the car off, and called 911. The responding firemen had to cut a hole in the roofliner of the automobile in order to determine the location of the start of the fire, which they confirmed was the wiring to the visor. The direct cause of the fire was confirmed by service employees at the dealership the car was brought to, as well as investigative engineers for Chrysler, as faulty wiring to the visor lighting on the passenger side of the vehicle. The cause of this incident is directly related to NHTSA campaign #14v391000, Chrysler recall #p36. A recall for the visor wiring was issued, and repairs were made at the dealership. The fire in the vanity area of the automobile occurred roughly a month after the recall repair was completed. This leads me to believe that the solution for the recall issue is not sufficient and should continue to be investigated.

7 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2015

On 11/3/2015 at approximately 5:30am I was driving my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I began to smell strong fumes which I suspected was coming from my car. Moments later smoke began overwhelming the cab of the vehicle. I pulled over, got out and it was then I saw flames coming from the top of my car over the area of the driver's seat. The fire department came to put out the fire. The roof and driver's seat was damaged from the flames. Inspections by my auto insurance and Jeep confirmed the source of the fire was from wiring located on the driver side sun visor. This is related to a recall on the vehicle which I had addressed in October 2014 (paperwork attached as well as pictures of the damaged vehicle and fire).

12 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

I have had multiple minor issues with this vehicle and returned for repair as many as 3 times to get them fixed. Those are minor compared to the challenges I encountered last week with the vehicle. I took it into service the brakes for normal ware and tear and had two recalls taken care of. I also had the rear window which was leaking fixed (3rd time) and dashboard trim repaired (2nd time). About an hour after leaving the dealer the check engine light came on. I returned to the dealer the next day and they discovered it had 2 bad codes that had something to do with a bad ground. Their first thought was the recall work was not done properly. Once they dug into the codes they discovered a couple of things. First the module-active dampening was bad at a cost to me of $749. 00. In my opinion this module had nothing to due with my care for the vehicle and should last the life of the car. It was so hard to get it took the dealer 2 days to find one. They also commented it was the first they have ever replaced. They also discovered due to the check engine light that one of the shocks is bad and will cost approx. $1600. 00 to replace and they are none to be had right now. They are on back order. Again another part that should not be replaced in less then 2 years of highway use. This is a srt model (the most expensive car in Chrysler's line) and it only has surface street and highway miles on it. As for the shock the dealer is asking Jeep to pay for all of it except $100. 00, we shall see. Finally they discovered something they call a "bracket" which is an electrical wiring harness was bad. It was explained to me that they repaired it but if it goes out again it will be another $1600. 00 repair. Once again should not a electronic component that would have to have the dash board removed to replace it last the life of the car?.

13 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2014

Around Sep of this year Chrysler notified me of two recalls on my Jeep Grand Cherokee; p36 / NHTSA 14v-391 (sun visor wiring) and p14 / NHTSA 14v-154 (brake booster corrosion). . When I contacted the local dealer they told me to wait until oct as the manufacturer didn't have parts available. I contacted the dealer, planet Jeep in flagstaff, az on 10 oct and was told Chrysler was rationing parts and that they would place me on a list. I've been in that virtual queue waiting on parts since 10 ocvt 2014 and every time I call the dealer I'm still on the list. I contacted Chrysler to complain about the poor service as I've been waiting for parts to fix safety problems for going on three months. I've been through several recalls over the past 40-years and have never experienced an excessive delay like this. It is actually easier to get my Mercedes Benz repaired and the nearest dealer is a 2 â½ hour drive from hear. Chrysler has demonstrated a lack of concern and no sense of urgency to correct two safety issues with my vehicle. Their advise to me was to continue contacting my dealer to ensure I'm still on the waiting list.

The parts needed to repair the vehicle were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Jeep Grand Cherokee recall - I have had numerous issues with my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, primarily electrical related. My car was making a high pitched sound, it wasn't very loud at first, but progressively got worse. It wouldn't start at first - then had to try to start it a few times before it would start. The electrical system seemed to be malfunctioning worse. I assumed it needed a new battery, so I bought one and the guy at autozone installed it. I drove to my restaurant and it started acting up again (high pitch sound returned, had trouble starting it). As I was driving back home on the road (45 mph) - I saw all electrical workings cut off and back on (the red lighting lights flashed). As I tried to pull over, the entire electrical system failed. My power steering, anti-lock breaks, radio and everything electrical stopped working. I almost got in a wreck but it took every bit of strength I had to stop and steer the vehicle - I turned into a shopping center and steered toward an incline and eventually stopped (almost hit a car, then almost hit an elderly couple pedestrians). I had my car towed to hendrick Chrysler fayetteville, nc. They said the pcm was out. It was still under warranty so they replaced it - but my vehicle has never been properly repaired. My check engine light comes on and off all the time and have had numerous electrical wiring issues (before and after the pcm) was replaced. My vehicle (when the pcm went out) could have easily killed me and anyone on the road at that time. The dealership keeps saying that none of that has anything to do with the check engine light or any of the other recalls - but I cannot accept that. I feel this vehicle - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee - is an extremely dangerous hazard to all road. I have also had numerous other recalls for this vehicle.

16 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2014

I recently purchased a used 12 Grand Cherokee from starling Chevrolet Buick in st. Cloud, FL. I did a ton of research and had been looking for this particular Jeep for many months. Our Jeep is in immaculate condition and the car fax listed only two minor recalls, the sun visor wiring and a brake component; nothing else. I drove it off the lot a 35 days ago and back home and no problems whatsoever. About 14 days ago my Jeep randomly stalled while I was taking a left turn in front of another vehicle (at a safe distance). Thankfully I was able to pull off the side of the road (no power steering) and come to a complete stop, put Jeep in park, and started again. I was completely baffled why it did this and took it in for service under my 3 year extended warranty. My dealer was unable to get any error or warning sign on the diagnostic test and could not find any problem whatsoever. My Jeep has stalled 2 other times while driving and each time I took it back and the same thing, it would not stall on the mechanic and no check engine light. I was lucky to talk to the previous owner tonight and he explained that he had the tipm replaced 2 times, yes 2 times in this Jeep and after the 2nd time the Jeep kept stalling on him. My wife and I are terrified that we purchased a “lemon” without having any knowledge about this at all. The car fax did not show this information, my Jeep dealer showed me all the warranty history through Chrysler and they sincerely want to help us. However, if the faulty tipm will not even show a check engine light, then how do they warranty a part? they cant (or refuse) and that is the lawsuit. The previous owner said he had to fight until he couldn’t fight anymore to get his dealer to replace the tipm and it still failed after the fact and is now failing on me. What can I do? thank you, ashton howard.
