The contact stated that excessive force was needed to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle was stopped, turned off, restarted, and operated normally. Additionally, the remote start feature was not operating properly. After remote starting the vehicle, the brake pedal was difficult to depress. The contact also stated that a phone call was ringing through the radio even though the phone was not in use. The contact researched online and believed that the vehicle had been hacked. The local dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be hacked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
All dashboard lights came on while cherokee shut off on the parkway yet allowing me to steer to the side shoulder. Is this a symptom of total integrated power module tipm.
The cuts off in the middle of the street in front of a school . The vehicle will not start up. I try to crank it on vehicle make a loud screeching sound like metal to metal . Dash lights 4wd pop on then a lightning symbol came on. The vehicle wont change gears steering wheel lock ,wheels lock ,the front left turning signal does not work all the other lights do. My wife and I avoided a collision when the vehicle shut off while driving . Thank god no one were hurt. Bought this vehicle in October 2025.
I brought my vehicle to the Jeep of concord for a fuel pump relay recall and oil change on 11/12/25. Prior to 11/12 the vehicle did not experience any of the issues described below. On 11/13/25, a dealership representative sent an inspection video stating the vehicle was in immaculate condition following the recall repair. However, within less than 24 hours, the check engine light illuminated, and additional issues began occurring intermittently. After the recall work, the vehicle began experiencing intermittent warning lights, including service four wheel drive, traction control, and check engine. These warnings appear unpredictably and are sometimes accompanied by loss of vehicle functions, creating unsafe driving conditions. The vehicle has also experienced overheating since these issues began. Sometimes turning the vehicle off and then on would temporarily correct the problem if it would recrank. The failures occur intermittently, making them difficult to reproduce or diagnose, and they pose serious safety risks, including the potential for sudden loss of power, steering assistance, or drivability while the vehicle is in motion. On multiple occasions, the issues have left me stranded. I returned the vehicle to the dealership on 1/8/26. On 1/9/26, I received an inspection video from the dealership identifying a transmission issue for the first time. The rep stated they “double-checked” the recall wiring but confirmed that no manufacturer engineer inspected the vehicle, despite my request to escalate this as a star case due to safety concerns. The intermittent warning lights, overheating, and transmission concerns remain unresolved and stellantis refused to escalate the issue. The dealership currently retains possession of my vehicle. I am concerned the recall repair may have been performed wrong or inadequately inspected, resulting in ongoing intermittent safety-related failures affecting multiple vehicle systems. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate & confirm.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford escape. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system), but the failure worsened. The contact stated that after the vehicle was retrieved from the dealer, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, a week after the vehicle was repaired, the traction control warning light, the check engine warning light, and the yellow light with an arrow across were illuminated. The message "service 4-wd" was displayed on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road and failed to restart. The contact left the vehicle on the side of the road. The following day, the contact sent someone to pick up the vehicle, and the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The contact called the dealer and was informed that a diagnostic cost would be charged, and the contact refused. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the side of the road. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The contact was informed that the transmission had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact requested a field inspector to inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that the dealer stated that the failure was not related to the recall, and no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
When driving the vehicle it just stalls. No warning and all power is lost including power steering which makes it very dangerous to all occupants of the vehicle and others on the road.
Alternator causing engine stall also electrical issues.
My car apparently overheated which made my oil filter melt and explode, popping my oil filter cap off making oil go all over my engine, ground and everywhere else. I was going about 20 mph when I realized my car was feeling weak on power and it was about to overheat. I then started to smell and see smoke. So I stopped my car in the middle of the street immediately, put on my hazard lights, and turned it off instantly. As soon as I got out, oil started to pour out everywhere. I then popped the hood to see a whole lot of smoke going everywhere. I wasn’t sure what happened, I just got the car 3 and half months ago, they said the car was top of the line, why am I having issues like these now? I did get my oil changed from pit stop (superlube) on lake street in aurora illinois, 3 days before that happened. I had to manually push my car to chihuahua tires, where they told me it was my starter, so they fixed my starter, and then told me it’s my gasket. Now apparently my head gasket is gone, and it’s going to take thousands of dollars that I don’t have. I’m already paying off the $800 for this starter repair that I didn’t really need :/ and I’m still playing for a car note on a car I’m not even driving! I can’t get to work, I can’t make money, this is depressing! I got this car because they said at carfect that my Jeep was perfect and in great condition. At this point I had over 10+ mechanical issues wrong with it, now this happened and I cant manage this. This is too much money for me. I need help, direction, a new engine, something! I just got this car! I did nothing wrong, I don’t have thousands of dollars to fix this issue! please help.
The car cuts off in middle of the road n won’t shut on brought a new fuel pump and it’s still shutting off the electric light pops up on dash when cutting the engine on the car gives the cranking engine power sounds but doesn’t cut on mechanic put in new fuel pump and now think it’s a electrical problem the steering is tight backing up and it has steering fluid this has been happening since 3 months ago I wanna say it comes n goes I’ve got it inspected twice and they inquired about the fuel pump which I have gotten fixed and the car still continues to shut off in the middle of traffic which can cause an accident.
I have 2 issues with this vehicle issue#1 the tire pressure sensor acts up on the front driver side tire pressure goes down to the low 20s then when driving it goes up to 43 and then back down to the 20s , the other is that I was driving from pennsylvania to new york and the car stalled in new jersey with no warning I was at the far left side of the highway and came close to getting rear ended twice real bad (my girlfriend who was and is pregnant) was on the passenger seat was hysterically crying because of how close we came to having an accident that would’ve cost us our lives , the car took 5 minutes to start again and we were escorted to safety by tow company that saw us through the cameras they have on the bridges very thankful to them escorting us cause we surely would have died that night.
2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee hemi. As traveling whether on highway or on streets no matter the speeds the Jeep tends to just stall out out of no where especially when braking and coming to a stop it completely shuts off, no engine, no steering and then must have to engage into park or neutral to push to start up the Jeep again. It is very dangerous and scary any time it happens and even more so when happens on highway. It has been an on going issue since I bought the vehicle in Nov. 2018 but only happens every once in a while and out of the blue when it does. I did reached out several years ago to the manufacturer mopar Jeep Chrysler but they had no solution for me. I had a case number with them but it was so long ago I cannot remember now. I did have the recall on the fuel pump relay in which I thought that would resolve my issue but unfortunately it did not and I still experience this Jeep stalling out at any point while driving, onto braking, and then to the stop. Any help? thanks.
While driving the road whether highway our town… my vehicle will stall out. I can’t safely pass because my car loses power. . Check engine light starts blinking then traction control lights come on and then battery light. I have to turn the car off after turning flashers on put it in park and restart after a few seconds. This vehicle is very unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start as intended. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle was towed to another local independent mechanic for a second opinion. The mechanic diagnosed that the fuel pump had experienced a short circuit, and the 150 amp mega fuse needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving approximately 59 mph with cruise control activated, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. The contact shifted to neutral(n), but the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic, where it remained for further diagnostic testing. An unknown local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000.
As I was driving my Jeep Grand Cherokee, I was in the process of braking in order to turn, when the power steering stopped working as the engine stalled. I was able to pull over to the side of the road, put it back in park and was able to restart it like nothing had happened. According to other owners with a similar issue, all the symptoms describe an open safety recall for a failing fuel pump that may cause the engine to stall. However, when I search the VIN on the NHTSA website, it states that there are no open recalls. The symptoms are identical to what is outlined in the recall. The only warning that came on was "check the gas cap" warning.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25-30 mph, the windshield wipers suddenly activated and the message fcw (forward collision warning) was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power immediately after the message displayed. The vehicle was shifted into neutral and towed to a Nissan dealer and was diagnosed. The contact was informed that the alternator and battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The alternator had been replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.
Aq14-003-fca-consent-order-7-24-2015 & 2019 safety recall [manufacturer recall number v62 & NHTSA recall number 19v-813]. Fca hasn't been in compliance with either of them regarding 'my' vehicle. 2015 consent decree implies should have been notifying car owners of any type of recall. 2017 recall was cancelled & 2019 safety recall was issued 4 years after the decree, 1 year after I bought the car, a safety recall was issued. Wasn't notified. 2 years later "I" contacted fca (now stellantis) to get my vehicle remedied by repair or replacement. Parts were shipped to a dealership but they used it on one of their customers. I asked for another set of parts. After that, absolutely nothing has happened up to now. Keep in mind fca had my information (email, phone & address) either from me emailing or speaking with a customer rep. It's been over 3 years since last heard from fca. On my side I no longer have ability to contact them directly since they became stellantis. 49 u. S. C. § 30166(f); 49 c. F. R. §§ 573. 6(c)(10); 577. 5(a), 577. 7(c)(1), & 49 u. S. C. § 30165(a)(1); 49 c. F. R. § 578. 6(a) NHTSA fined fca/stellantis > $100 million for 'not' making an effort to send recall notifications of any type of recalls directly to owners of their vehicles within a reasonable amount of time also to remedy the issue. If they don't comply $7,000 per violation & only remedy is replacing the vehicle in question. It's exact issue! been over 7 years waiting within a reasonable remedy, it never happened. This is a safety issue. I was assured it'd be fixed, never was. I'm putting my life at risk & others driving. Unbelievably the part sent to me the dealership without my consent & knowledge gave it to one of their customers. I called to complain & expected another part to be sent out to another dealership. It never happened. I never spoke to anyone at fca since then 3 years ago. There doesn't need to be a lengthy investigation. It shows my recall status as open. Proof of noncompliance.
So I just bought this car from a dealer about a year now and I was driving down the fwy. Heading to work and suddenly my car turned off and my steering wheel got really hard to make any turns there was no way I could’ve stopped in the middle of the fwy. To stop and start the engine. Luckily I was able to pull over and check the car I was full on gas and I looked up common issues that could turn off a running engine checked all fuses didn’t see any problems with it didn’t see any sort of corrosion in the battery cables and their was no check engine on the dash board. Theirs also been times were it randomly takes a long time cranking and won’t start right away so I literally wait for the engine to sit for a while and start the car. My guess it’s the crankshaft position or the fuel pump going out but that’s why I’m here to find out if theirs any recalls related to this issue. I’ve been told their was a recall for a relay issue.
Clockspring malfunction causing horn, cruise control, and air bag not functioning.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the temperature gauge started to indicate that the vehicle was overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact also stated that the failure began one month after receiving the vehicle back from the dealer following a recall repair. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had already been repaired under the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not yet available.
My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Jeep gc) frequently and numerously experiences sudden shutdowns while driving. Consequently, not only do I lose power to various electrical features, but the power steering assist and power brake booster also become inoperative. This issue has been acknowledged by Jeep for other model years, but regrettably, they have failed to accept responsibility for it for the 2012 model, despite its significant impact on safety. Interestingly, there is a known safety recall by the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) for the 2008 Jeep gc related to a wireless ignition node module (safety recall p57 / NHTSA 14v-567). This raises concerns about potential similarities between the issues experienced in different model years. Numerous individuals have reported similar problems in online forums and posts. In an effort to address the issue, I have reached out to Jeep's customer service and my local dealership. However, both entities seem unwilling to acknowledge the existence of a broader systemic problem, claiming no knowledge of the root cause. It is essential for Jeep to take responsibility and promptly address this serious safety concern in all affected model years, ensuring the safety and peace of mind of their customers.
We were about an hour away from home (in the mountains) and our Jeep had been running fine. We had stopped for a while and when we got back to our Jeep and started it, just about every warning light on the dash board came on and wouldn’t go off (the brake light, check engine, airbag, abs, etc. ) the middle of the dash was also flashing different messages…”service park assist and service power steering”. We started to drive and the car was jerking really hard while it was shifting gears. We think it was getting stuck in a high gear because it would hardly drive after we stopped at a stoplights. We turned our hazards on and just tried to make it to an auto parts shop. Our windshield wipers were automatically coming on and the speedometer and rpm needle were both going up and down really quickly. We spent just shy of two long months without our Jeep while it was in the shop. The mechanic ultimately replaced the clock spring and the tpim. Meanwhile, I joined a Jeep Grand Cherokee facebook group and it seems like this is a pretty common issue in Jeep Grand Cherokees. It was a costly repair and was very difficult for us to go without our second car for two months. I really feel like this issue needs to be addressed by Jeep.
I just recently purchased this used 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The problem I am experience, while driving at 74 mph the engine just shuts off. The vehicle would not restart for about 15 minutes. This has happened at least daily. The mechanic shop has checked the engine completely over. However they are stumped, the shop was able to repeat the problem but there are no codes. I know there was a recall on the fuel pump relay and then another on the relay. My mechanic has replaced the fuel pump relay but it still happens. I was reading in numerous blogs of this issue happening to many people. This past Saturday night I was coming home from my second job when the car stalled out in the construction zone of 696 in detroit, I can't tell you how many cars came close to killing me. This problem needs to be fixed by Jeep but there seems to be no movement, I'd hate to see people killed over this known issue. I know last Saturday night was the most fearful night of my life.
Was stopped at light and 2012 Jeep cherokee lost all power and engine stalled. Lost lights, radio, heat and engine. It did restart after a minut or two. A week later, while driving, car began lagging/running rough. I felt I could not drive faster than 25 mph. Drove to Jeep dealer. Dealer is telling me it will cost more than $1500 to fix. I suspect this is a problem with the fuel pump relay. . . .
The Grand Cherokee shut down while driving on the highway. It was like the ignition turned off. I pulled over and could not start the car. After 30 minutes the push button ignition finally worked. This has happened at least three times and is intermittent, but dangerous enough that you lose power to the vehicle. The problem is with the wireless ignition node. At times the push button or remote start up feature will not start the engine. But once it does, it randomly shuts it down as if communication is lost or the key is not recognized, even with the fob key in close proximity. No warning indication is given nor is it reported as a code to be analyzed. It’s not the fobs, not the batteries in the fobs, and not the other remote capabilities such as remote keyless entry. It is only push button (keyless) ignition and remote ignition that won’t start the vehicle. The severity is that once you do get it started and driving, it randomly with no warning shuts down causing you to coast wherever you are. I was fortunate to avoid a serious accident two of the times this happened on a major highway.
Passenger side vanity mirror caught fire. My eyes started burning and smoke filled the car shortly after starting the car. I was sitting in the car waiting for the rain to slow down before I started driving other wise I would have been driving when I realized what was happening.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph the check electrical system warning had illuminated. The vehicle engine began to make a high pitched noise, the check electrical system light had illuminated. The contact drove his vehicle to his residence and noticed a burning smell after exiting the vehicle. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer, but he did take it to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced and the battery needed to be recharged due to the faulty alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
Vehicle stalled without warning. No power whatsoever. Illuminated battery light came on. Noticed a burning odor coming from vehicle. Checked engine bay and noticed heavy smoke coming from alternator for a good 10 minutes. Vehicle would not take a jump nor could I put into gear. Battery is completely dead. Pcm also seems to be fried. Will have to be towed to dealership. Called Jeep costumer care and referenced the t36 recall but my VIN does not fall under it even though vehicle fits exact description of recall. Also noticed that many others are have same problem with Jeep and them not expanding the recall to their VIN. How terrible!! this could have easily been a fatal situation. Jeep needs to take some responsibility and action!.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle he would have a rough idle and the vehicle would nearly stall. The contact stated that when he depressed the accelerator the vehicle would seem to recover and run normally. The contact stated that he saw the "check engine" and a "lightning bolt symbol in red with a red lines on each side" (electrical throttle control symbol) lights illuminated. The contact stated after putting the vehicle into drive (d) and as he depressed the accelerator to approximately 10 mph, the vehicle would hesitate and then would rev and jump forward. Additionally the contact noted that the vehicle had been consuming an unusual amount of coolant that required him to add about one gallon of coolant per month. The contact stated that he did not observe any leaks or puddles of coolant around his vehicle when he would park it in his driveway. The contact had driven the vehicle to an independent mechanic who attempted to download data from the vehicle computer and was unable to find any failure data on the engine "dtc" data. The mechanic did manage to pull a code number p0627 pcm engine control module. The independent mechanic was unable to repair the vehicle. The contact stated that the independent mechanic had researched online and related one of the failures to NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,800.
P06de "oil pressure sensor stuck on high" faulty sensor seems to be fairly prevalent for this make/model/generation.
Since owning this vehicle (2013), it periodically stalls while driving. There is no warning and most times I am on a highway or getting off an exit. When this happens, I have no power steering ability. I have been lucky so far and I have not caused a serious accident when these episodes have occurred. My wife refused to ride or to drive the Jeep because of this problem. I see online that other Jeep owners have experienced the same problem. I have taken it to a Jeep dealer for service since 2013 and they are never able to diagnose the root cause of this problem. This problem seems to be happening more often - I fear for my life and those around me due to this sporadic problem. Please hold Jeep responsible for getting to the root of this issue with these vehicles.
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland headlamp assembly are defective and need to safety recall. The defect poses significant risk to driver especially at night. For example, this overland no longer level the headlamp low beam at the correct level. The light only cast out about 10 feet ahead of the headlamp. Even when engaging the high beam both headlights only show a few feet further. This is unsafe and risky when driving at night as well as on roads without any streetlights. It is like driving into darkness. The low beams headlights are pointing so low to the ground that they do not illuminate the license plate of another vehicle that is 10 feet in front. Prior to failure defect there was an in-dash notice stating the computer module lost communication with the right headlamp assembly. About a month later another message displayed the computer module lost communication with the left headlamp assembly. I took vehicle to local Jeep dealer for analysis, and they confirmed that Jeep headlight assemblies would have to be replaced with an estimated cost of about $3000. 00. I told dealer this defect is a safety risk, and it needs to be a safety recall. I have to limit significantly my night driving due to safety risk. I am asking the NHTSA and Jeep manufacture to issue recall to fix, correct, and replace this safety defect. Thanks for your prompt attention to this safety matter. Respectfully, owner, Grand Cherokee overland.
Car shuts off while driving 2times in 3 weeks.
Symptoms are identical to recall w47, where loss of engagement between transmission and the differential inside ptu (power transfer unit).
Driving and all the sudden all warning lights on and off, wipers came on slowly, radio and air shut off car completely died. Towed to a mechanic and alternator shot. Alternator and battery replaced only to immediately do it again as I barely made it home who’s is 1. 1 miles from the shop that fixed it. Now completely dead.
