37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2021

There is an open recall for the fuel pump relay on my Jeep Grand Cherokee, [xxx]. I've called every dealership within 50 miles of where I live and all of them tell me that Chrysler has only allowed them to order parts for 1 vehicle a week and they all over 100+ vehicles backlogged, meaning if circumstances don't change it will be 2 years plus before my vehicle is repaired. Now I'm going to have to pay for temporary repair out of pocket as my vehicle is already intermittently failing to start due to the relay failing. This is ridiculous and Jeep needs to get their act together before someone gets killed when this relay dies at the worst possible time. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

In the span of about 2 years, I have had the fuel pump tpim safety recall performed about 3 times. I’ve had a new fuel pump, battery, new alternator, power board installed, all out of pocket and my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee hemi continues to randomly stall. The dealer always says there are no codes and basically cannot do anything for me at this point. Do I have to wait until I am in a serious accident before Chrysler does anything? go on any Jeep forum and I know I am not the only person experiencing this issue. This is a safety issue that needs to be corrected before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Failure Date: 11/29/2020

The latest incident happened Sunday 11/29/20. Prior to this, the event has happened at least 4 other times. While driving at highway speed 55-70 and slowly coming down to a stop on a ramp or turning the vehicle while decreasing speed, the engine will stop running. No visual or auditory warnings happen, you're only aware when you feel the power steering has gone away, and the tachometer reads zero rpm. I have been able to safely pull off and stop in each event, the vehicle needs to be cycled off and then restarted. The safety concern is this event could happen into left turn across oncoming traffic with no ability to accelerate out of harms way.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2020

Due to the safety recall v62 I've experienced multiple incidents of my 2012 Grand Cherokee stalling while driving. Within 6 months I've had the relay sensors replaced twice (no charge) and a new fuel pump, $1,200 out of pocket and my Jeep still stalled. This is now the 4th time my Jeep is sitting at the dealership with no fix and fca will not reimburse me for a rental. My case manager from fca said I am out of warranty, since when does a safety recall fall under a warranty? so either I drive an accident waiting to happen or continue to pay for a rental so that I can get back and forth to work. This is unacceptable that fca still does not have a fix for this and now instead of a car payment I'm paying twice as much for a rental.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

On two or three occasions in the last year, when I go to start the engine, the engine cranks many times, but won't start. I would typically believe this to be a "no fuel to the engine" issue or "no spark", but once I'm able to stop the car from cranking (which has been an issue) and attempt to start the engine again, it does so without incident. It makes me think that there is an electrical issue in the ignition system. There is no rhyme or reason as to when this happens or may happen.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

I was passing a slow moving truck on a 2 lane highway when my Jeep lost power for several seconds. I came very close to a head on collision. The Jeep has had a no start problem since I purchased it 5 years ago. It has been in dealership service departments multiple times for the issue with no resolution when still under warranty. All online research points to a defective tipm and there are related recalls. The current open safety recall is number v62 with fca for the fuel pump relay which is part of the tipm. The loss of power is one issue that can be caused by the faulty tipm, as well as the no start problem my Jeep has had the entire time I've owned it. I contacted fca recall assistance center and opened a case, informing them that I almost had a head on collision due to their defective product with an open recall. They told me there was nothing they could do but notify me when a fix was available. This recall was issue almost a year ago and involves life safety. I have no choice but to continue driving a vehicle that almost killed me 2 days ago because fca refuses to fix a defective part for several years.
