Left head cyclinder in engine cracked with coolant leaking to engine. 2011-2013 were extended on warranty for this but not the 2014 yet. To fix the 1 issue apparently requires replacing several other parts resulting in a astronomical bill. When got back from getting checked out the engine now makes a ticking sound. Also gear shift issues where the car will say in desired gear and won't go into park and stall out. The second was a recall but my VIN was not included. Gear shift issue happens at random and has left me in the middle of the street.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the engine illuminated, the engine had overheated becaused the oil cooler is made of plastic and it sits on top of the engine and seals are on top of the engine they overheated and causes the oil coolant to leak. The contact took the vhicle to a local mechanic and the mecanic replaced oil cooler. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was not available. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 57,306. Li.
My car had an oil leak and the mechanic had to replace the oil cooler. He said the part is a dangerous design with plastic, metal and aluminum parts. The plastic melts in the seals causing the leak. This could be a fire hazard bc of the coolant and oil mixing together as they cross over boundaries they should not. Also it could cause the engine to be completely ruined. The mechanic I used said he has replaced a lot of these all in Chrysler's and Jeeps so it is clearly a hazardous design flaw. This has been an ongoing problem and I filed a case with Chrysler #71764143. The mechanic telling me my engine could be ruined made my decision to get the repair more urgent.
