I took my car to the dealer for the recalls. They are basically only putting a band aid on the issue. They are telling me they did both recalls but it didn't fix the issue. Klaben in kent ohio. They basically did just a flash on it but that didn't fix the issue (loss of crankshaft position). Everything I read said the reluctor wheel needs replaced and they are telling me the vehicle is too old and won't fix. This is all part of the recall. If you have any questions please call me. I was rolling up to a red light. The Jeep shut down on a main road. The battery light, abs, and power saver mode went on. The power steering shut off and then the car shut off. I was unable to move the vehicle. I wait 5 minutes then started the car again and got it rolled into the nearest parking lot.

Hello I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee 3. 6 and the oil cooler went out again . . This is th 3rd time. The last 2 times I pay out of pocket for it but now 3 different mechanics told me there’s either a recall or something with the oil cooler when Jeep has to fix it. I don’t want to pay another $1000 again please help me out Jeep of lowell didnt help at all.

Engine and power train components show failure. Remanufactured 3. 6 l pentastar engine camshaft journals and bearings show circumferential scoring from oil starvation. Rocker arm needle bearings failed shedding debris that clogged oil passages. Technician said root cause is oil pressure retention issue or internal contamination. Not caused by improper oil level but a design defect. Teardown report and photos available.

Jeep recalled the oil cooler as it can crack and cause leaking into the coolant yet the problem still persists. This can be inspected on my vehicle at any time. Jeep is claiming that since it was “repaired” (recalled) this is a customer problem. I have been quoted over 10k to fix a problem that was never correct from the recall Jeep performed. Jeep has failed in this recall remedy and are pushing customers to fix repairs as a result of their failed actions. Failed oil coolers can cause the vehicle to catch fire which could burn down someone’s home if the car catches fire while parked in a garage or structure. The nearby Jeep dealer called and confirmed that the issues I am currently having is a result of the cracked and recalled replacement oil cooler. There are countless number of people online how have also had the same issue and been told by Jeep and dealerships that this is now a customer responsibility because they provided a “warranty” in addition to the recall. The warranty is a result of a class action law suit against Jeep for emissions issues. I did not and do not have any warning light on my vehicle. I just had evidence of coolant leaking with a coolant smell when in front of the vehicle.

The engine and powertrain are affected by a defect described in safety recall 66a / NHTSA 23v-411 (loss of crankshaft position). Despite the recall software update being performed, my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to display diagnostic trouble code p0336 (crankshaft position sensor performance). This issue causes intermittent stalling, hard starts, and loss of engine power, which creates a serious risk of crash if the vehicle stalls while driving. The safety defect described in the recall — tone wheel magnetic material delamination leading to crankshaft signal loss — is still present. Two diagnostic reports (one from an fca-authorized dealership and one from an independent mechanic) confirm the presence of dtc p0336. The service manager at the dealership agreed this is likely recall-related but said fca corporate must authorize hardware repair. Fca (case #93427994) has refused to approve full repair, leaving the safety defect unresolved. The defect has been confirmed by the dealership and independent service center and persists despite the software reprogramming remedy. Warning lights (check engine) are active and the issue is repeatable.

6 months ago, I was driving on the interstate and the esc system light came on, the vehicle lost power/ability to accelerate, and would only allow acceleration after pulling over and restarting the car. This happened several more times on the interstate, and when the esc system kicked in it would suddenly lurch the car down about 15 mph and leave no ability to accelerate, causing near collisions at high rates of speed. After eventually taking it to the dealership, it turned out to be failed lifters on the driver's side cam shaft, a known design issue that has apparently plagued the pentastar engines. This all happened in spite of meticulous maintenance and no warning signs from the engine whatsoever. How is such a significant, known design defect that causes such dangerous driving conditions never been flagged for a recall?.

Vehicle will shut off while driving losing brakes and power steering. No lights on dash just says shift to park to start. Very dangerous.

The 3. 6l engine has a misfire and that problem was addressed by replacing the following new plugs, coilpacks, injector, plenum gaskets and it ended up being the rocker arms or cam shaft this has to be address as it is a wide problem with every one of these engines.

A message comes through the dash screen saying def service 50 miles left vehicle not restart again , I take it to dough smith Jeep dealer in spanish fork for diagnostic they told me to replace a lot of things like def pump, def injector and nox sensor (bank 1) we do and we didn’t solve the problem after spending thousands of dollars and im not able to get my emissions ready because of that , automatic brake system failure it says to clean the sensor I cleaned really good but keep showing brake failure message.

The car will randomly throw itself into neutral and I will completely lose all power. Got a diagnostics done and it is the transmission control module. The part is currently on back order because so many cars are having the same issue as mine.

The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the rocker arm, piston, and camshaft had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

While traveling at freeway speeds the engine suddenly died. The vehicle was taken to an independent shop where they confirmed the cause was a connecting rod failure. They commented this is a common failure in the 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee eco diesels along with the same model year Dodge ram 1500s. There was no warning signs of this issue and the independent shop stated they have not been able to find a root cause as similar to our case the engine had plenty of oil in it to prevent this issue. During this event I also reviewed the engine temp and oil temps all were well within the normal operating temps. This put others and my own life at risk as we lost complete power. Fortunately I was on a straight stretch and in the far lane so I was able to safely coast to a stop. This could lead to a very different outcome. The component has not been inspected by police or insurance agents as it’s been claimed this is not a covered component under previous fca extended warranties for a faulty emission system.

The car keeps overheating. I received warning lights for the sensors to check the no flow indicator. In August I took to a mechanic and paid 1200 to have a hose repair for the cooling system. Lights went out for 4 days and problems again causing the car to completely shut off on my way home and I live in volcano CA mountains no phone service and was stuck until morning. The car just says no flow wipe sensors. No car does not start without overheating quickly.

Oil leakage.

My Jeep diesel Grand Cherokee engine and oil cooler overheats. This has progressively gotten worse. I have taken it to my local dealer and they can't and honestly don't try very hard to figure out the problem. I have taken it to local auto shops and they have replaced several parts but no improvements have been made. I have been told this Jeep needs an oil cooler but Jeep discontinued making these for my year. I have spent thousands of dollars to attempt to fix this and nothing has worked. This vehicle has left me stranded on the side of a busy highway with my family. I do not get warning lights, I just notice the arrow creeping dangerously close to the red marker before it completely blows the radiator. I cautiously drive slow going uphill when I am towing which is also a danger with cars passing me swiftly. Jeep knows this is a problem with the diesel motor but they have not offered a fix for it. I can't sell it to anyone because of the known problem. I am completely stuck with a lame vehicle.

Known issue with engine design that could lead to catastrophic failure. The rocker arms fail and gouge the cam, causing catastrophic engine failure, if not addressed as soon as symptoms occur. We caught the knocking noise early and were able to have both sides replaced for $3800 on a vehicle with relatively low miles. This has been a noticed issue and to my knowledge, the replacement parts were redesigned to correct the issue.

The crankshaft sensor tone wheel is damaged. I found that there was a recall on this item on our make/model and year of our Jeep. It's recall number w68/NHTSA 20v-475 and w58/NHTSA 20v-475. The dealership is refusing to follow the recall and make the repair and quoted us over $3,000 out of pocket to fix a known and recalled problem with our vehicle. I'm not understanding how it is legal for them to refuse to fix a known problem on a vehicle that isn't outside the parameters in terms of years old, or years since the issuance of the recall. We have spoken with multiple people who simply tell us they don't know why, but our vehicle isn't covered under the recall. Can you please point me in the direction as far as next steps or do we just need to hire our own legal council to have this problem addressed and rectified? our Jeep is currently at the dealership located at 12410 e 136th Ave, brighton CO 80601 phone number 303-654-1940. They did the trouble shooting and can confirm that this is the problem. They were also aware of the recall and unsure as to why Jeep was saying it wasn't covered.

I was driving home from dinner and while driving I got a notification on the dashboard and then few moments later it locked up and everything started turning off. Incuding the radio, ac but not the car. The car would not drive once I got it on the side of the road. The car would not turn off due to not being able to place car in park. It was stuck in drive. My husband had to come over and put his foot on brake and take over the wheel. He then hit the power button for 5 seconds and it went into park and turned off. We called a tow company to take it to dealership to get fixed. We seen we had some recalls so we asked if that was the issue they said yes and ordered parts to fix. Days and weeks went on got car back and when I drove home my car I will say does not feel safe for me to be in nor be on the road. I had smoke inside my car where battery is when on side of road which one day will be where my kids are. Also they said nothing was wrong with alternator but when on side of road I could smell burnt alternator. They said was fine and recall wasn't needed. I do not feel safe at all nor does my husband feel safe driving the car. Dealership we bought from never told us about the recalls when we bought in 2020, and now this dealership saying it doesn't need to be done we do not feel the car is safe to be on road and will be fire hazard down road.

Unknown failure of oil cooler system resulting in oil leaking into the coolant.

The vehicle has been making this electrical noise inside the vehicle. The vehicle upon accelerating, would hesitate to go then jerk. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic technician. It was suggested that the vehicle tcm be replaced. It was replaced and the jerking still exist. The vehicle out of nowhere started having these unexpected electrical issues. This caused the cooling system fan to not work. I ordered a new cooling system fan and had it replaced/installed. However, these issues along with other safety concerning issues have continued to occur. This vehicle can cause significant serious injury or injuries to the owner or others. The vehicle would lock up occasionally. This model Jeep (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland 5. 7l) has some safety concerns. This need to be fixed immediately before it cause catastrophic damages/injuries to others.

Oil filter housing failure, this caused oil to be expelled all over the engine compartment. The oil could have hit hot exhaust and caused a fire, engine lost power due to no oil. Taken to Jeep dealer and they told me this is a common issue on this style motor. No symptoms prior to part failure.
