1 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/21/2015

The abs controller failed. There are complaints all over the internet about people having the same issue. I believe it was burned out by the faulty ignition switch which powers it. The switch is already under recall.

2 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/24/2013

I have been having multiple problems with the brakes in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee purchased brand new in may. It has a total of 1,000 miles on it, but the problems started with only 10miles. The instrument cluster immediately lights up like a christmas tree and then the check engine light remains on. The rearview mirrors move into downward facing positions while in park and while driving. This alone is a major safety hazard. The abs brakes intermittently work and finally failed. The abs module failed. The backup camera works intermittently and the backup warning system also is intermittently working. My car has been at the dealership every month since I have purchased it and it has currently been there for the last 2 â½ weeks awaiting an abs repair.

3 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/01/2005

I purchased a certified pre-owned 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee from lansdale Chrysler Jeep in October of 2002. Within 1 week, the abs light came on and I took it back to the dealer. They explained to me that the abs unit had failed and would have to be replaced at a cost of over $1,000 dollars. I submitted a hand written complaint to them that the car was "certified" and nothing should fail within a week. The abs was replaced without charge to me. Three years later the abs unit has failed again! estimate charge for repair is $1,200 dollars. My research on the internet shows this to be a common problem from 1993-1998 Grand Cherokee's. The following website: autos. Msn. Com cites this as a common problem for the abs unit to fail. The dealer told me the abs unit was out of warranty. How does a $1,000 part fail twice?!?.

4 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/21/2004

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the abs would not lock or "grip" as quickly as it should. The failure caused difficulty when braking. She also noticed that there was a "gliding" effect when driving 40 mph and attempting to brake. Furthermore, she experienced difficulty turning the steering wheel. As a result, she made wide turns due to the amount of effort she had to put into turning the wheel. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they checked the brakes. The dealer changed the brake pads and stated that everything was fine. The second time the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for the abs failure she was informed again that everything was fine. The vehicle has not been inspected for the steering failure. The current mileage was approximately 43,000 and failure mileage was approximately 20.

5 Abs Brake Fail problem of the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/15/2002

The abs light began coming on several months ago. The light always went out and we contacted the dealer and asked them to look at it since it continued to go on. The dealer said it was the abs pump, which cost us $1500. I don't feel it is appropriate for the abs system to go out at less than 50000 miles. After reading the problems that other people have had with this I think it should be looked into since it is a major safety factor that does affect the brakes. The dealer told us the regular brakes "should" work it the abs fails. This is not the case as several other people have attested. Chrysler was contacted and they refuse to take any fault for the defective parts. We picked up the car and of course the abs light is again going on. Now they say that they have to change the abs module for another $700. This is ridiculous. Please look into this as I feel Chrysler has been negligent in what is obviously a mechanical flaw in their vehicles that they should address with a recall. I have lost all confidence in Jeep and this is my 5th one!!!.
