Tl the contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the blower motor failed when he attempted to use the heat and smoke appeared underneath the glove compartment box. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the connected plug to the blower motor resistor melted the wires and plastic cap that surround the resistor and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to byford Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of chickasha (3121 s 4th st, chickasha ok 73018) for diagnostic testing. The dealer stated that the VIN was not included in a recall and advised the contact to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. as a result the defrosters on a car do not work. Dave baginski at jerry Toyota said he fixed it when I brought it in Jan. However, it broke a week later. He has refused to get it fix. Dave baginski

Visibility: defroster/defogger system. Windshield blower. Cold air out the passenger side and visibility is decreased. I have had this fixed once when I bought the Jeep 6 years ago.
The contact owns 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the fan in the ventilation system failed to run at a high speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that a blower motor resister needed to be replaced. However, the part needed was no longer manufactured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Repeated failure of blower fan for which there is apparently not a suitable fix from Jeep. Current fix is either (a) part from supplier other than Jeep which fails every 6-9 months or (b) Jeep recommended part which reduced air volume so dramatically that defrosting windows is unsafe. Failure of the blower motor is also unsafe due to the inability to defrost the windows.

Visibility:defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower Jeep Grand Cherokee lmt. Heater problem. I have a dual control system, that is only heating on the passenger's side. There are several complaints and the cost of repair is outrageous, the part is semi reasonable, but the labor and location makes it extremely costly. This is a danger in terms of visibility and I believe Chrysler should fix the problem. Several Jeep owners are having the same problems, so it appears to be a manufactures defect.
Visibility:defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower . . . It was suggested that include the prior description but I'm in question. We have had this 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the family for years and the past year the passenger side blows strictly cold air (it has dual air controls) - my nephew owned the Jeep prior to our purchasing it from him this past month. He said this has been this way for a while and not sure what to do. In researching the fix, it seems everyone has the same problem and it was suggested to report it to you in hopes that you can help with the fix as it is a costly one from Jeep ($1000 - $1500) . . . Since everyone has this problem it has to be a Jeep defect. Hopefully you can help us out.

My 2002 Jeep cherokee started blowing heat only on the drivers side and cold air on the passenger side. The windows were constantly fogging up making driving only possible by lowering the windows to reduce fogging. Now, I have no heat and the mechanic says it is my blower doors and that this happens to alot of Jeeps. We had to abandon the vehicle during a snow / freezing rain even last week and then couldn't drive it for the next several days due to freezing conditions. I have replaced the heater core due to fogging windows 2 years ago and the ac had to be charged constantly to stay cool. This is dangerous to drive and you freeze during cold times. I always have to make sure precip in not expected whenever we drive this vehicle during winter months. Jeep owners need help with this. . . ! now my passenger window wont go up either.
Passenger side bend door defective passenger side to hot and does not cool visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
I own a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with dual climate control. Whenever I try and use the heat it does not work, I have no front defrost for my windshield. The only air coming out of my heating system is cold air. It is because of a faulty blend air door. This can be a dangerous problem if in the cold weather the windshield fogs up, there is no way to defrost it. Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower cold air blowing from defroster/heater system due to substandard components used by manufacturer resulting in defrost system failure that exists on these vehicles in year group 1999-2004. The manufacturer, daimler Chrysler has done nothing to resolve this issue with consumer/owners of their vehicles.
Had the defroster on. Tried to turn the blower to the vent position while fan was off and nothing came out. The defroster still works and the fan seems to be blowing, but for some reason, no air from front(outward facing) part of dash board. Had some knowledge of failure in the automatic climate control version, but specifically found Jeep with manual climate controls to avoid this problem.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower the blend doors on the 2001 Grand Cherokee limited break causing a no heat condition which will not defrost the windshield in the winter causing poor visibility.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower I have a 2000 Jeep that the defogger does not work properly, and from what I have learned, Chrysler has known about this problem for some time and has failed to act on the problem as far as a recall! this is a dangerous issue with most Jeeps. This failure occurs everyday due to the fact the blend doors are broken as part of faulty manufacturing. I can't even defrost the windshield due to this problem. I don't mind fixing the problem, but when I learn that Chrysler knew of this problem long ago, I think they need to bear some of the burden. Thank you.
The blower motor resistor has melted! (fire hazard) now we only have cold air blowing from our vents. No heat. Someone said it is the blend doors. Apparently lots of ppl have this problem! (it is soon to be winter time) also, creaking/motor sounds come from the dash when the vehicle is off?!?!.

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Blower controller connector is overheating and melting connector and now not working. Replacement with new connector is possible from dealer with morpar repair kit #05102406aa . However. . . This does not fix the problem as it will happen again and again. This is due to strain on the blower motor drawing high amps because the common problem with this Jeep is with the ac "blend doors" which was the first problem for me. . . . As with many Jeep cherokee owners. It costs over $1000 to fix a simple problem with the blend door because the entire dash has to be removed! so, the blend doors are a common problem with an expensive fix, and if you don't fix it, the blower motor and controller will overheat, leaving you with no air control to remove moisture in damp weather. The controller could overheat, possibly cause a fire, or if the controller and blower don't work, you have no way of clearing foggy windows. . . . Bad thing! very frustrated as this should be part of a major recall. Why should so many Jeep owners have to pay for a simple, yet expensive fix?.
When blower motor turned on high panel under passenger side under dash getting extremely hot. Removed paneling under dash and wires are melting, too hot to touch! extreme fire hazard!!!! huge liability!! scared to even turn on blower motor any more due to possibility of fire. During current rain storm unable to get windows defogged to see to drive had to pull off to side of road.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower having a visibility problem with the heater/airconditiong in car heating/airconditioning not clearing windshield. __________________.
I noticed that my air flow through the a/c and heater was not working - no air flow. It seems permanent - no air flow. I can hear the fan, but no flow of air - no matter what setting (defrost, floor, front side). What is worse, when my windshield fogs up, I have no visibility due to no windshield blower flow. I have not fixed it since it seems to be a widespread problem inherent with the Jeep design, and I believe Jeep should fix it.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower -on a 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees.
Blend doors on the hvac system have failed. Passenger side only blows cold air. A common problem on these Jeeps.
Heater, defroster, a/c, vents all stopped working twice! on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The blend doors would break and stick, thus producing no heat, a/c. . Nothing! this is very dangerous and extremely costly 1200-1800 each time it has to be fixed. The whole dashboard needs to be removed, the coolant drained and refilled, heater removed, a/c drained and refilled, it is an all day fix for a repair shop who is fluent with this. Two days for one who is not.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower loss of half of the heater control and ability to regulate the temperature. After phone calls to repair shops, I was told to expect the rest of it to stop working if not corrected soon, as this is a 'common" problem with 1999-2004 Grand Cherokees. Estimates were in excess of $1,000. 00. Loosing the ability to regulate the temperature to defrost windows in winter(wisconsin) and not being able to keep my three year old son warm is a huge problem for me and should be for the manufacturer. A TSB was issued on 01/20/04 for these issues, and it was recommended to replace the respective sub-assembly if any parts were to be replaced. They knew of the issue and nothing was done. Hope to find a dealer to help me with this so we can have heat again. Hoping to not have the same poor service that I received when I had to fix the power steering, TSB's on that, no info from the dealer on that when asked, along with being quoted for the wrong parts.
