In August of 2014 I noticed a firm response from my brake pedal when starting the car. I brought it to the dealer, grava in medford MA, and they told me they fixed it and that it was covered under recall p14. I later learned they only replaced the brake booster pump shield and not the booster. In October of 2015 I had a sudden loss of brake power when my brake booster failed and had to have my car towed to the dealer. The vehicle was in motion when this occurred; luckily slow speed.
I had my Jeep in some time ago for the brake booster recall but over the last few months, I have begun to notice a sound of air when I am pressing the brake pedal. Some information that I have found seems to denote this as an issue with the brake booster failing. I need to know if this means that this was not fixed when I took it in for the recall repair as this seems to be getting worse as time goes by. The date below is an estimate based on when this started but it is not a direct day of occurrence. This has been happening for several months now.

I had just taken off from a traffic signal stop and the brakes failed. I was miraculously able to get over to the side of the road without hitting any other vehicles and bring the vehicle to a stop. I had my 2 week old infant in the back seat with me and this was an extremely traumatizing incident. Most infuriating on this incident was that I already took the vehicle in to get the brake recall repaired on 7/26/14 to courtesy Chrysler in grand rapids, mi 10 months ago!. At that time, the dealership stated they did not have the parts to correct the recall, but placed me on a waiting list and when the parts arrived, would call me to make the repairs. Still waiting for that call! had the recall fixed at the closest dealer to where the brakes went out in holland, mi.
I received recall notice p14 regarding the brake booster issue in or around may 2014. I called the closest dealership to my house and was told they were too busy, understaffed, had guys in training and had no time to fix the car. The dealership is ed tomko Chrysler in avon lake, ohio. They assured me this was not a dangerous problem with the car. I asked them to call me back when they had time to do the work and they refused, saying it was up to me to call them. I called again in July and was told the same thing. On February 28, the brakes failed when I was driving, which caused a severe brake application problem. By some miracle, I avoided a serious accident by inches. I called the dealership immediately but was told the service department was gone for the day. I called on Monday March 2 and was told that the first available appointment would be on April 21. I explained that the car was undriveable. The service manager once again told me that he was too busy, understaffed and had guys in training. This was almost word for word his excuse from last year. I called the Chrysler group recall assistance number 800-853-1403 but hung up after 51 minutes, hearing over 50 times "thank you for holding, your call is important to us. . . . " the lies of the dealership and the incompetence of Chrysler could have cost me my life if the brake failure had occurred on the highway. Please take appropriate action. Thank you.

I was driving and stopped at the stop sign and when I accelerated after making the stop and took a left turn on g street located on kirtland air force base my car accelerated and I lost control and when I applied the brakes nothing happened and my car proceeded to hit a parked vehicle and still the brakes did not stop the car and the only reason the car stopped was because I hit some reinforced steel cables holding something up. Four other vehicles were damages as a result of my brakes failing.

A recall was issued for the Jeep Grand Cherokee in early 2014. On July 31, 2014, I requested the repair, but the brake booster was back-ordered. I attempted several times, monthly, to schedule the repair, but was repeatedly told the part was not available. On February 13, 2015, our Grand Cherokee's brake booster failed, causing difficulty to control the vehicle when approaching an intersection. No accident occurred. Fortunately, we were able to avoid a very dangerous situation. The vehicle was taken to the nearest mechanic. He suggested taking the vehicle to the Jeep dealer due to a failure with the brake booster. Since the vehicle is under warranty and also subject to the recall, the part should be replaced or repaired at no cost. The local Jeep dealer offered to replace the brake booster. The part was available for repair since it had failed, but the part would not have been available to me if it had not failed. Almost seven months have passed since I requested the repair under a safety recall. If it had not failed, it is not known how much longer it would have taken to get the repair performed. I understand I was 30-something in line for the repair, but there is more than 100 waiting at the local dealership. The dealer claims they are receiving a very limited supply for the recall parts. . I was stopped at a light behind a vehicle when suddenly my brake pedal went down to the floor. The road was level with a slight incline. The vehicle began inching forward and I kept trying to pump the brakes. I was unable to locate the emergency brake due and the vehicle stopped after making contact with the car stopped in front of me. I later regained brake pressure and promptly reported the incident to my insurance company and Chrysler customer service. Prior to the incident, I took my vehicle to the dealership for the brake recall. I was initially told that my brake booster had to be replaced and later told that it just needed the protective brake booster shield. Chrysler's solution was to have a rep from engineering analysis conduct tests on my vehicles brake system. On 5 November 2014, I received a letter from Chrysler advising me that the inspector found no problems with my brake system. They are refusing to replace the brake booster. I fear that I am at risk of my brake system failing again! this incident could have been fatal had I been on the expressway traveling at 55 mph!.

Brake booster failed. There is a recall on the brake booster (p14) and the dealer cannot return the vehicle to me until the brake booster is repaired. They cannot get parts from Chrysler and it has been over a month. I have been without my vehicle for over a month and neither the dealer or Chrysler can give me information on when the parts will be available. Received safety recall notice for brake booster on Jeep Grand Cherokee's in late may. Dealers near me still do not have parts to perform recall service. First called dealer in late may and again July 7 and they still said they are waiting for parts from Chrysler. Recall notice releases should have all parts available to perform recalls especially in case of potential brake failures due to malfunctions yet I can't get the issue corrected due to no parts available.
On three separate occasions over the past two months, I have experienced an unanticipated engine stall when decelerating from highway speed in order to make a turn (both right and left). In each of these instances, as I was in the turn (or immediately before), the engine stalled, leaving me without power-assisted steering or brakes. This makes the vehicle difficult to control, as the amount of physical force needed to complete a turn is very substantial. In each instance, after bringing the vehicle under control, I was able to restart it by placing the shift selector in "neutral," applying pressure to the brake pedal, and pushing the engine start button. While I have sufficient arm strength to have been able to maintain control in each of these instances, it is, at a minimum, a surprising and unexpected event to have steering and brake assist fail simultaneously. A smaller person could easily lose control of the vehicle under these circumstances. I do not know whether, when this occurs, the airbags are disabled, but that may also be a matter of concern.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000. The contact stated that while making a right turn at 15mph an abnormal sound came from the wheels and the brakes failed. The air bag and traction control light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician was unable to find a failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000. Sr.
Driver's side front outer cv joint boot slipped due to an improperly-installed boot clamp and the grease from the joint migrated to the brake splash guard, suspension components, and inside of the wheel on that side. No grease apparent on the brake rotor at this time, however the dealer, grapevine Dodge Chrysler Jeep, in grapevine, TX, has instructed me to drive the vehicle to them for service in a few days. Any grease on the brake rotor could cause a brake failure on that side (leading to loss of control) and would require some parts to be replaced. I understand that this is a common problem with Jeep Grand Cherokees manufactured in March and April of 2014, however the dealer's service advisor whom I spoke with appears to be unaware of the trend and largely ignorant of the danger that it presents.
