36 Equipment problem of the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

I was driving at an estimated speed of 55mph when I heard what sounded like a gunshot or tire popping inside the vehicle. Next I felt glass hitting my face, head, neck, and hands. I looked up and my sunroof had exploded. This could have been a very bad situation because when the loud boom and immediate feeling of getting hit with glass happened, naturally I tensed up, I swerved into the left lane as a result of my body reacting to the falling debris coming from right side. Thankfully no other cars were around. I only suffered minor injuries due to glass shards in my hand.

38 Equipment problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/29/2025

1-rear driver-side power lift-gate actuator ball bolt snapped right off while rear gate is open. 2- it came right down on my head and caused severe bump and bleeding from a 250 pound rear door. I am 6ft 1 in, but if it is someone small it can cause sever injuries and possible death from the heavy door coming down on the person. 3-problem was looked at by my mechanic and they cannot fix issue as bolt broke off inside the thread area and no room to remove such bolt. They recommended I take it to a body shop to cut the area out in order to get the broken broke removed. 4-unknown 5- there was no signs of any failures at all.

39 Equipment problem of the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/23/2025

I recently had recall work done. I picked the vehicle up on December 23, 2025, and the vehicle is not charging properly or driving well. When plugged into the level 2 charger it took 10 plus hours to charge when it used to take 2. 5 hours to charge. The vehicle is also not driving well now. As soon as you take your foot off the gas it’s almost like a major brake is being applied. It’s not safe to drive this way. I have contacted the dealer and will take it back on Monday, December 29, 2025.

41 Equipment problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/17/2025

On December 17, 2025, I brought my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (30th anniversary edition) to los angeles Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram for safety recall 68c involving the high-voltage (hv) battery. The dealer performed the required recall software update/flash and diagnostic and confirmed the vehicle failed 68c, meaning the hv traction battery pack requires replacement. The vehicle remains at the dealer and is available for inspection. I cannot take the vehicle home even if I tried: per the recall process it must remain at the dealer once it fails, and the software flash/diagnostic effectively “bricked” the vehicle, rendering it undriveable until the hv battery is replaced. This defect involves the hv battery, a critical energy-storage component with serious safety implications. The problem has been confirmed by an authorized dealer; no police/insurance inspection. The dealer initially stated the battery would arrive around January 12, 2026, but it did not. At ~4 weeks out of service I called the dealer for an update—no eta, status, or tracking. The dealer has never proactively contacted me. At ~8 weeks I called Jeep cares—no eta, tracking, or meaningful update; they only contacted the dealer. I am still making payments on a vehicle immobilized at the dealer for ~9 weeks due to the recall remedy delay. I also did not receive the $100 recall compensation gift cards and Jeep cares has not resolved that. I am filing this complaint because the recall remedy is not being provided within a reasonable time, leaving me without transportation and without any timeline for a critical safety-recall repair.

42 Equipment problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

Vehicle hybrid system shuts down vehicle at random times. “service hybrid system” warning comes on, dealership will not fix or acknowledge the issue. The battery is at fire risk if I charge the vehicle. Car has shut down and died multiple times, and does not respond for up to 30 minutes. Car has shut down while driving, putting itself into limp mode, citing the hybrid system. There has been 10 recalls on this vehicle, with new ones coming multiple times a year. Car losing ability to drive, or catching fire due to hybrid system, puts the driver and other drivers on the road in danger of collision or even death. All recalls have been remedied when a solution was available, but vehicle still does not perform up to safety standards.

43 Equipment problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/16/2025

Was driving on highway going 60 miles following traffic my car suddenly stalled took me a little bit to pull over, switched off the car, the car made a funny sound. Waited 5 mins and the car started again. My car is constantly stalling, doesn’t give me any warning signals and the Jeep dealership I go to cannot figure out what it is. It takes about min before my car can restart and I keep moving.

44 Equipment problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/14/2025

My vehicle is subject to active recall 68c involving high-voltage battery fire risk in Jeep 4xe vehicles. Manufacturer has confirmed recall applies to this vehicle, but no remedy is currently available. I have been instructed to limit charging and parking due to risk of thermal event/fire. This creates an ongoing safety risk to myself, family, my home, nearby properties and others. My vehicle remains in use without a permanent fix.

45 Equipment problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

Transmission line has worn a hole from the location it sits under the Jeep. The metal hose now has a flat spot. This is because its rubbing on the metal plate below it. I attached photos. I do have a video of what we are seeing and how it’s happening. Yes, it was taken to a dealership for proper diagnosis. Part is unavailable, because of a common issue. No dealership’s are willing to sell the part. It just stated leaking drives fine for now.

46 Equipment problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

I am submitting this complaint to report what I believe to be a manufacturing or design defect involving the sunroof of my Jeep Grand Cherokee. On or around December 1, 2025, I discovered a severe water leak originating from the sunroof area during normal rainfall. Water entered the vehicle interior without warning and caused substantial damage to the headliner, interior trim, and other interior components. The amount of water intrusion was significant and far beyond what would be expected from normal wear. The vehicle has only around 45,000 miles and is regularly maintained. The leak occurred without any visible damage to the sunroof glass and without prior indication of a problem. The sunroof was fully closed at the time. This suggests a defect related to the sunroof sealing system, drainage system, or overall design rather than misuse or external damage. This defect presents a serious safety concern. Water intrusion inside the vehicle creates the risk electrical system damage or failure, mold and health hazards, impaired visibility due to water dripping near the windshield, distraction to the driver while operating the vehicle. In heavy rain conditions, this defect could reasonably occur while driving, creating a dangerous situation for the driver and passengers. As a result of this defect, my vehicle sustained significant interior damage, requiring repairs. I believe this issue reflects a broader defect in the sunroof design or drainage system rather than an isolated incident. I am concerned that other Jeep Grand Cherokee owners may be experiencing similar failures. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue for potential safety-related defects involving sunroof leakage in Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. The severity of the water intrusion and resulting damage indicates a defect that could pose a risk to vehicle safety and occupant well-being.

47 Equipment problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

I just recently purchased my vehicle through mears Mazda locally in lubbock, TX. At first I did not notice how unsafe it drove due to the recalls. The more I drive the vehicle I notice it feels like there is a resistance in braking or slowing down and getting stuck in certain gears when I am going at a lower speed below 20 mph. It causes concern for me if I am driving in a bigger city or in a traffic jam as this could possibly cause a major accident if a malfunction occurs with the vehicle causing me to cause a multiple vehicle collision on a highway or street. I did ask the dealership prior to signing " are there any issues known with this model type of Jeep or recalls?" they simply stated no. I have told them that since I had just recently signed my paperwork Friday and trading in my prior vehicle would it be possible to reverse everything, he stated no. I do not know the laws in texas or if there is an alternate route I can go about this due to it being a safety issue. When I've contacted Jeep there is yet a remedy to fix this issue.

48 Equipment problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/25/2025

It sounds like the body of my car is detaching from the frame. Like my coil springs are loose or coming out.

49 Equipment problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe summit reserve which is affected by recalls 78c and 68c. These recalls have no remedy, no timeline, and no clear information from stellantis. I no longer feel safe driving my daily driver, and the lack of progress has created a serious safety and reliability issue. Stellantis has instructed owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from buildings or other vehicles. This implies a potential fire risk that many owners cannot avoid, especially those who live in shared parking areas, garages, apartments, or townhomes. This should be treated as a major safety hazard. Stellantis has already attempted software updates and even high voltage battery replacements, but these efforts have not resolved the problem. The fact that previous fixes failed suggests a hardware defect involving the battery system or related components. Stellantis has not provided accurate or transparent information, and owners have no path forward. Because stellantis advises against charging, the hybrid system cannot be used at all. This eliminates the purpose of the vehicle and increases operating costs. I have spent many hours at dealerships with no solution. Stellantis customer care has stated that they will not offer support or compensation and directed me to a third party arbitrator. I respectfully request that NHTSA increase oversight of recalls 78c and 68c, investigate whether stellantis has properly identified the defect, and determine whether the company is meeting federal recall obligations. I also ask NHTSA to consider whether this situation warrants interim owner compensation or potential buy back evaluation due to ongoing safety risks, failed repairs, and the complete loss of hybrid functionality.

50 Equipment problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Recall 25v-741 (manufacturer recall 68c) affects my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The recall notice states that, due to potential high-voltage battery cell separator damage, the vehicle may catch fire even when powered off. Jeep instructs owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park inside garages or near structures. There is no remedy available, and Jeep has stated that remedy identification may not occur until q1 2026, with additional delays expected for parts and repairs. As a result of these instructions, I am unable to store the vehicle safely at my home, since my residence only has attached garage parking. My workplace garage has also prohibited these recalled vehicles from entering due to fire risk. The vehicle is currently kept at the dealership because it cannot be safely stored. Jeep’s interim support is insufficient. They offer only $60/day rental reimbursement, which does not cover a comparable vehicle, and only $50 per rental period in taxes, leaving owners with significant out-of-pocket costs while their leased vehicles cannot be used for an extended period. This places owners in the position of either paying significant out-of-pocket expenses for an unsuitable rental vehicle, or continuing to park, store, or charge their vehicles in ways that contradict Jeep’s fire-risk guidance. While the recall is not labeled as a “stop drive,” the instructions functionally prevent safe use or storage of the vehicle. I am reporting this because the current interim guidance and lack of remedy create ongoing fire risk and practical safety issues for owners with no safe place to store the vehicle and no adequate interim solution.

51 Equipment problem of the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

The transmission on this 2016 grand Jeep cherokee had completely went out due to fluids being in the transmission. Which is causing a head gasket problem as well. This car was regularly serviced. Only had this vehicle 7-8 months. My safety was put at risk when I was driving my kids to school and on my way to work when it started to overheat causing me to pull over and not being able to drive this vehicle. This Jeep is currently at an authorized dealer and has been diagnosed. There were absolutely no warning signs whatsoever to indicate that this vehicle was going to go out on me. I don’t think it’s fair for me to have to give up my vehicle for something that I did not cause!.

I went and got my son dressed brought him to the living room I heard noises from outside in the garage. I opened the door in the house to the garage, and it was full of smoke. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? unkowen how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the Jeep engulfed in flame very quickly. If it wasn't for the quick thinking of my fiancé our home would have been a total loss as well. 55 Equipment problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/09/2025

I went to start my car and pull out of a parking lot when the power steering would not turn on. I tried starting and stopping the engine multiple times. I eventually left the car and returned later for it where the power steering was back on and fully functioning. I had a friend drive me and the vehicle to my house to be towed to a Jeep dealership the following day. The power steering went out and back on two more times during that 10 min drive. Jeep service received the vehicle the next day and said they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle and reset the computer. I was told to come pick up my car as there was nothing more they could do.

56 Equipment problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/08/2025

My vehicle is affected by recall 25v-741 (fca recall 68c), which involves a risk of high-voltage battery fire due to potential internal separator damage. Fca’s NHTSA filing instructs owners to refrain from recharging the battery and to park the vehicle away from structures or other vehicles until a remedy is available. The recall remedy is not available. Fca customer care advised me by phone that the vehicle is “safe to drive in e-save mode unless symptoms appear,” which contradicts the recall notice because the defect can cause a fire without warning or symptoms. This vehicle automatically recharges the high-voltage battery through regenerative braking and engine charging, making it impossible to comply with the instruction to “refrain from recharging. ” during another discussion, a technician also told me that the “stop sale has nothing to do with the safety of the vehicle” and advised me to “drive normally. ” when I asked about the prior cases where vehicles covered by this recall had caught fire, the technician replied, “well, they’re still around, right?” this guidance minimizes the documented fire risk and contradicts the official recall filings. The vehicle cannot be safely used or stored under normal conditions, and no interim solution or transportation has been provided. The dealer stated they were instructed by the manufacturer’s warranty team not to assist and reiterated that no remedy exists. I am reporting the unsafe and contradictory guidance from the manufacturer and the inability to safely use the vehicle while the recall remains unresolved.

57 Equipment problem of the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/05/2025

This recalled vehicle cannot be driven safely. No remedy is available. I am paying for a lease. I cannot use and requesting federal assistance for a lease termination or replacement. .

58 Equipment problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/04/2025

I am reporting a serious safety failure related to the abs/esc recall on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Parts have not been available for over a year, and my vehicle has now experienced the dangerous conditions described in the recall. Before the failure, while stopped at a red light in drive with my foot firmly on the brake, the vehicle suddenly rolled backward on its own. I had to forcefully press the brake to stop it. This should never happen and indicates brake system failure. About 10 minutes later, while driving on the highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden safety system failure. Multiple warning lights came on (abs, esc, brake system, check engine), the accelerator pedal became unresponsive, a burning smell came from the vehicle, and I temporarily lost control. I could not pull over immediately due to traffic, which created a very dangerous situation. The vehicle eventually became undriveable and required towing. I am thankful my children were not in the car. This is an extreme safety hazard. Stellantis still has no parts available and has not provided a repair or transportation option. This forces owners to choose between parking their vehicle indefinitely or driving a known unsafe vehicle. I request NHTSA review the lack of parts and enforcement of this recall, as it is putting families at risk. Owner: [xxx] , [xxx] email: [xxx] [xxx] my contact information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

59 Equipment problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

My family went on a weekend trip the day we left town the heat was working great. The next day we noticed that the heat was on but the air coming out of the vents was not as hot as the day before. We attempted to turn the heat off and back on still blowing warm to cool air. The heating system blows cool air at times. I took the vehicle into the dealer and they said the reason we didn't have heat was due to the electric battery needed to be charged. We could not understand why the car had to be charged in order to have heat. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

60 Equipment problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

On 11/1/2025 my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe lost propulsion in a middle of a left turn do to a recall that was sent to me 4 days prior. The Jeep completely stopped and caused another person to rear end me. The recall has since been fixed but my damages have not yet been fixed. I was in an accident due to this Jeep recall and I now have damage to my vehicle and a ticket from the police for stopping in the middle of an intersection. I opened a case with Jeep customer care 2 weeks ago and haven’t since received any update. I need assistance because nobody is taking accountability or fixing anything.

61 Equipment problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/01/2025

I am writing to outline my urgent concerns regarding the 78c recall affecting the 2023–2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and 2024–2025 wrangler 4xe suvs. This recall was initiated due to a manufacturing defect where casting sand remains in the 2. 0l engine, presenting a risk of catastrophic engine failure, sudden power loss, or fire. The potential for engine fire or unexpected power loss represents a significant safety risk to my family. The possibility of fire, even when the vehicle is parked and not in use, puts my home and neighboring properties in danger. This risk is especially heightened during colorado’s wildfire season, when any vehicle fire could quickly escalate into a larger disaster. Due to the recall, I am unable to use the vehicle as intended under the terms of my lease agreement. I cannot safely operate or charge the vehicle. Furthermore, the requirement to park the vehicle outside does not eliminate the risk of fire, which continues to threaten my property and those nearby. There is currently no available repair or remedy for this defect. As a result, the vehicle is unusable for an indefinite period of time. Given the unresolved safety hazards, inability to use the vehicle, and lack of a repair solution, I formally request that you initiate a buy back of my affected vehicle. This action is necessary to ensure my family’s safety and to resolve the ongoing hardship caused by this recall.

62 Equipment problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/31/2025

My Jeep hybrid is under an active safety recall with no available remedy. The manufacturer has instructed owners not to charge the hybrid battery system, which means the vehicle cannot be used as designed. I am continuing to make loan payments on a vehicle whose primary advertised functionality has been disabled due to a safety defect. I have contacted Jeep/stellantis repeatedly through their recall assistance lines and have been transferred, disconnected, or told to call numbers that do not resolve the issue. No timeline or interim remedy has been provided. The vehicle is materially impaired, and the lack of a fix poses safety concerns and financial harm to owners. I am requesting NHTSA intervention due to the absence of any manufacturer solution or support.

63 Equipment problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/30/2025

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which currently has a high-voltage battery fire-risk recall with no remedy available. This recall states the vehicle should not be parked in garages or near structures due to fire risk. This makes the vehicle unsafe to use as intended. My vehicle has also experienced four total recalls, repeated check-engine warnings, and it was in the service department recently (within the last week) with no mention of the battery recall and no resolution for the ongoing issues. I have attempted to contact my dealership (fred beans Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, doylestown, PA) and the general manager but have received no response for over a week regarding options for a safe loaner vehicle or next steps. The lack of remedy, the safety risk of fire, the inability to safely park or charge the vehicle, and the dealership’s failure to respond place my family at risk and leave the vehicle effectively unusable. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in documenting and escalating this unresolved and hazardous situation.

64 Equipment problem of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

The issue is in starting the vehicle. When I push the start button, the vehicle starts, but the engine continues to turn without stopping and turning over. I then push the start button again to turn off the engine and make another attempt, and then it will start normally. This has happened several times in the last few weeks. Also, sometimes when you push the start button, nothing happens, and the vehicle will not start. It takes a second attempt to start normally.

I have videos, but my cars electrical system keeps glitching, it will turn my heated seats on to the pint they burn me, it connects to my phone and will randomly call anyone in my contacts, it changes radio stations, messes with my automatic start, took my traction control off and does this on a regular basis. I had this system fixed in March of 2023 just after I bought the car but it’s already doing it again. It also will randomly just cut off when I’m driving and then will be fine very randomly. - I will have to send you the videos I took it says they are too large to upload here.

67 Equipment problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/11/2025

On September 17th I was driving approximately 65-70mph on the freeway when the dashboard flashed the "service hybrid electric vehicle system" warning and icon. My vehicle lost forward momentum and I slowed at a very rapid pace. I pressed on the gas and the vehicle switched over to the gas system, regained power and I was able to drive without further incident that day. I feel like I could have crashed on the highway and gotten injured, or injured someone else! on October 11th I was driving in a restaurant parking lot, approximately 5 miles per hour and starting to idle when the vehicle dashboard flashed the "service hybrid electric vehicle system" warning and icon. This time ,the vehicle shifted itself to park suddenly and I received an alert to press the brake to turn the vehicle off. After several attempts, I was able to turn the car off and back on again. I have an appointment on October 17 for the issue to be looked at by the dealership. This is a 4xe with only 40k miles on it.

On two seperate occasions, the message telling me to "shift into p, and then desired gear. " appeared while driving. I shifted into p while parked at an intersection both times and the car died. The second time it happened as I was driving away from rairdon's Jeep in wa. I made it one street after having my ignition system replaced to the tune of $2,600. Was able to turn the car around and get it back to them. They have had my car for almost a month and state there is no error code, so they cannot diagnose.
