The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that one month after she purchased the vehicle, she noticed that the driver side exterior mirror would become cloudy. She activated the heated mirror to clear it up, which worked temporarily. However, over the last few months, the frame around the inside of the mirror fractured and caused the mirror to cloud completely over to the point of zero visibility. Both the dealer and manufacturer were notified. The vehicle is not under warranty; therefore, they would not repair the vehicle for free. The failure mileage was 25,000 and current mileage was 43,000.

The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle was included in the recalls associated with NHTSA campaign id numbers 06v197000, seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler, and 09v117000, seats:front assembly:seat heater/cooler. The vehicle was repaired at an authorized dealer for both recalls. After being repaired he noticed that there was still a hole developing in the front drivers seat due to the heated seating feature. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where it was repaired a third time. The contact also stated that the vehicle would intermittently overheat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer one time a year for five years consecutively where the engine fan relay and motor was replaced. The failure mileage was 49,742 and the current mileage was 150,000. The consumer also stated the driver's exterior mirror also had a problem with the heating element. Also, the vehicle had an evaporated emission leak which caused the vehicle to fail inspection. The fan relay was replaced five times, the air condition was inoperative, the check engine light illuminated. The dealer refused to cover the repair of a hole that developed in the driver's seat approximately the size of a baseball which he believed was related to the heated element problems. Updated evoq 01/27/11.
The sideview mirror adjustmet on my vehicle is set for each driver, and when that driver enters the car, the mirrors should change to the proper position. However, they frequently (but not always) move to a total down position. You have to remember to manually change the mirror position. Otherwise, you have no rearward view which has created numerous dangerous situations. The dealer admitted that this problem arises not infrequently, but requires replacement of the mirrors at $500 each. I already replaced one, and it failed again within a year. There needs to be a recall to rectify this dangerous situation.

My outside rear view mirror has turned a gold color and you can not see out of it at night safely.
Problem: brakes
when I am traveling approximately 50 mph, and I brake, the car vibrates. I believe that there must be a problem with the rotors. This has been going on for quite awhile, but recently, I learned that this is a problem with many Jeeps. Also, the mirrors (on the sides of the car) flip back and forth too easily. I had someone look at these, and I was told that the springs are gone. This seems to be shadily made, and there is no good reason why the mirrors should be flipping back and forth.

While driving, consumer applied brakes and without warning brakes made noise and skipped. The rear axle seals were leaking. Left front out side mirror was loose. The right front window rattles. The rear hatch light was inoperable. The brakes pulsated and the rotors were resurfaced. Shock absorber makes noise when hitting slight bumps. The vehicle rattle in front at 15-30 mph. The front tires were wearing out due to misalignment. The vehicle was hard to start after warmed up.
Driver side exterior mirror on vehicle contains auto-dimming fluid that leaked out due to a manufacturing defect and now obscures drivers rear vision while driving. Attempted to address issue with local dealer only to be told it would take more than $500. 00 to replace the entire mirror assembly instead of just the glass. Replacing just the mirror glass with the auto-dimming feature is not feasible per the dealer. This is total bs and the original manufacturer of the vehicle should be able to replace this removable part at a reasonable price.
While driving at 40 mph, and upon pressing down on brake, vehicle shaks very hard, rotors appear to be very worn, vehicle has been taken to dealer approximately 5 times already. Consumer also stated there is a ticking noise from engine when starting up,steering damper and drag link assembly were loose, transmission shifts hard into reverse, right rear turn signal bulb was replaced, vehicle began to overheat, right side mirror was cracked, speaker was inoperative, the trim on the door panel was loose, exhaust system was loud, parking brake needed to be adjusted, passenger side seat belt was inoperative, passenger wiper blade was not cleaning the window, keyless entry remote was inoperative.
