Failure Date: 09/19/2008

My passenger side window regulator went up and my window just fell. I've done a lot of research and there are a lot of complaints for the regulators in the Jeep limited and other models. I think they should be recalled because this problem is very common occurrence.

39 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/03/2008

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and on July 3, 2008, I was out of town and when I stopped at a convenience store, my nephew who was sitting in the passenger rear got out also and as we started to walk towards the store we heard a pop and we looked around the vehicle and noticed the rear passenger window was down which was odd because I live in arizona and on that day it was 117 degrees outside. I tried to put the window up and it would not go up. After calling the dealer I was told it was the window regulator, I did research on the internet and found this to be a common problem on Jeeps and daimler Chrysler has had many complaints by consumers mentioned on the discussion boards and no resolution to cure this problem with the window regulators. It cost $400 for the repair of the window regulator.

40 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/30/2008

1-I bought the Jeep 4/2008. A couple of months after, a window stopped working. I got the regulator fixed. Soon after that, another window stopped. I got that one fixed. Every time I get one fixed another breaks. Now I have 2 windows not working. 2-whenever I turn a corner, it sounds like the wheels are scraping against something. 3-soon after I bought the Jeep, whenever it gets wet and I turn corners, there is a sound coming the front like its the axle or something. I have taken it to several people/dealers and no one can find out why. They test drive it and hear it, look underneath and still cant find out why or where the sound is coming from.

41 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/25/2008

Window regulators in this car have broken twice in less than a year and cost $550 to have repaired. I had one repaired in sept 07. I can't afford this and am driving with plastic on my second window this happened too. The windows just drop as I'm driving at 60mph.

42 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/09/2008

The first incident occurred while driving, I noticed that the front passenger window began to lower itself without me activating the switch. I attempted to push the switch to make it go up which didn't work. The window then proceeded to lower itself into the door and would not return to the up position. I took the car to my mechanic who informed me that the window regulator had failed and that this is a common problem with this model vehicle. The regulator was replaced at a cost of nearly $500. 00. The second incident occurred while the vehicle was parked. I returned to my car after parking it over night only to find the drivers side window was open about 3 inches. I attempted to close the window and had no response from pushing the button up. The window would however operate in the downward position but would not go up. I returned to my mechanic who advised me that the same condition as the passenger side window had occurred. $500. 00 later I was back on the road. It is my understanding after reading countless "blogs" on the internet that this is a chronic issue and that daimler Chrysler is fully aware of it yet continues to ignore it.

43 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/03/2008

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Within the past two years, all four window regulators were replaced. During the first instances, the front passenger side window continued to roll down on its own. When the rear driver's side window began exhibiting the same failure, the contact had the window sealed to prevent it from opening. On each occasion, the window gradually lowered and would not stop. The current mileage was 79,253 and failure mileage was 50,000.

44 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/28/2008

Rear driver side window regulator assembly broke in 06, front driver window regulator assembly broke in 07 and now front passenger window regulator assembly broke in 08. I had to replace the window regulator assembly, found that plastic block that holds the cables to the slide track broke. This seems to be a major design flaw on the assemblies, the plastic block gets old, worn and just cracks or breaks without warning. When this happens the window will just drop inside the door, again without warning. I feel that there should be a safety recall on these window regulators as someone could get hurt. I have the broken oem one that I just replaced if you would like to inspect it. Best regards christifer radley.

46 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/08/2008

While rolling up driver side front window, heard a loud noise within car door. Window then fell into door and would not go back up. Informed by dealer that the regulator was broken. Service dept stated that this happens frequently because the part is made of plastic. Was charged $295 for replacement part. Exact same thing happened to my brother, who also owns a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, two months ago.

47 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/25/2008

Power window breaks constantly;. 400$ to repair. The plastic piece where the cable is attached cracks and the whole mechanism needs to be replaced because of a . 50$ piece that could be made of metal.

48 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/11/2008

The driver side window went down by itself, and will not go back up. It sounds like the window motor broke. After research on the internet (type in 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee power window defect), I found many others that shared similar defects in their power windows.

49 Power Window problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/10/2008

Power window manufacturers defect could cause severe problems in cold weather. Jeep gr cherokee 2000 model/year has a plastic part that crimps and fails in the regulator for the power window assembly. Multiple websites reveal the problem is pervasive with Jeep owners.

50 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/27/2008

I have had 3 window regulators break in my 2004 Jeep cherokee. The regulator itself is a faulty product, made of cheap plastic instead of something that is built to last with metal. Daimler-Chrysler took a major shortcut to save a few bucks and now Jeep owners are paying for it. Each window regulator costs about 277 dollars from a Jeep dealership, and they charge $500 for parts and labor to fix 1 (one) regulator. I've had 3 fail and replaced, so I've paid $1500 on a 4 year old american vehicle. . . On the windows!! this is ridiculous and this product should be recalled, and Jeep owners should be reimbursed for all expenses, or have all 4 window regulators replaced free of charge.

51 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/27/2007

I bought this car from a dealership and within 2 weeks afterwards the window regulator broke. I had the window up and when I got home I was wondering why I could hear wind on the way home and I opened up the driver side rear door and the window fell on me. I called around and had it looked at to make sure I knew what it was. I had my personal mechanic take a look at it and he said the same thing that the Chrysler dealer said that it was the window regulator. I have done nothing to it because I can't afford to get this hunk of junk fixed and I found out that this Jeep was in an accident and repaired by Chrysler at a dealership and on the same side that they had to work on this happens and they won't cover the cost psssh. Obviously they don't care about the hurting american worker.

52 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/20/2007

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee= my vehicle should have been covered under the lemon laws of the us. Equipment failures: - window regulators- replaced 2 - heated seats- both seats have the wires burnt in two in them; possible fire hazard. . . Not covered in recall of a later year - blend doors broke- had to replace all three motors and doors - left turn signal does not function consistently - door lock system is failing: driver's door has quit locking; has to be done manually; back door behind the driver makes a squawking noise when you lock the doors, tailgate is not locking; alarm will go off if you open the door, but it is not locked. _constant small coolant leak.

53 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/10/2007

Both 2004 Jeep cherokee special editions were purchased the same day at the same dealer, both in the past 6 months have need the window regulator replaced on the front passenger side.

54 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/10/2007

While driving, the front passenger side window slid down in its track. I had to pull over and pull the window up by hand. The same thing happened to my Jeep's front driver side window on 12/22/05, except that occurred at night and it was 15 degrees outside (lived in NY at the time)-had to drive half an hour home with the window wide open.

55 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/08/2007

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have had to have 3 window regulators replaced. I only have one left, who knows when that will go, perhaps next year, because it seems one breaks per year. I have had each of these replaced at a Chrysler dealer. Chrysler is quite aware that this is a problem with it's vehicles, but is unwilling to do anything about it, because it is not a "safety issue". This part with labor is $460 each time it needs to be replaced. Chrysler is willing to keep draining the pockets of its consumers with no care to its loyal customers. There are 5 pages of complaints on automotive. Com with the same issues. I want to file an official complaint. Chrysler is unwilling to do anything to correct the problem, because the vehicle is no longer under warranty. I would like my money back. I think this car is a lemon!!!! I have put more money into this vehicle over the last two years then I have paid for the car. I hope you can help me retrieve some of my financial losses.

56 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/05/2007

Loud pop in drivers windows - plastic gear broke again!.

57 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/04/2007

While driving at 55 mph on interstate 45n, we heard a loud "pop", almost like a tire exploding. The driver side window collapsed inside the door, the noise and change in the environment caused the driver, my spouse, to snap her head in the direction of the wind and noise. She has pain in her neck from turning so quickly. Realizing we were not being hit by another vehicle, she looked back to the road ahead where her attention should have been, only to realize she had seconds to avoid running off the road. When we pulled over to inspect what was happening, our little dog jumped out the window onto interstate 45. Thank god we were able to get her to safety before the day got worse. We called our local dealer whom we paid a considerable amount of "cash" for the 2004 Jeep cherokee special edition, they advised us it would cost $75 to diagnose the problem, most likely the windows regulator, $250 dollars for the part and $150 for the regulator. I asked about the vehicles warranty and was advised it was only 3 years. Not sure what a window regulator was, I searched the internet, to learn that thousands of Jeep owners have had this issue during the first few years of ownership. It appears there is a serious issue with these window regulators and the issue is being ignored by the manufacturer. This is an extremely dangerous condition and we are fortunate it did not result in a major incident. The design and/or mechanisms need to change to improve the safety of those navigating in a Chrysler Jeep product. Bi shared my concerns with the service manager at the dealership I bought the SUV. I was treated with respect when I was buying, but now my concerns fall on deaf ears. This won?t help me, but I hope it prevents someone from a similar experience. I will sell the vehicle at a reduced price, my spouse is afraid to drive it. She fears it happening again spontaneously and on all four windows.

58 Power Window problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/03/2007

Electric windows keep breaking- 4 times now in same vehicle- one window mechanism has been replaced twice now. First time it malfunctioned, the window automatically rolled all the way up, then made loud clunk sound and window dropped down into the door. This is a safety issue as someone's arm could get stuck with the window rolling up on its own as well as having back windows fall all the way down when my young daughter is in the rear seat.

59 Power Window problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/25/2007

60 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/25/2007

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee-drivers side window regulator broken in September. It cost $260 to replace. Yesterday (November 25th), passenger side window fell. Will cost a couple hundred more to replace the second window.

61 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/25/2007

While vehicle was parked, driver side window fell, and power window control failed to raise the window. It is now stuck in the half-open position, pending repair. My research shows that this is a common recurring problem among Jeep owners, and that the repair is approx. $400 for each incident. Given the hundreds of owner reports I have since discovered for this exact problem, Chrysler should issue a recall to both improve the quality of the part(s) and remedy the problem.

62 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/23/2007

We have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and since the first month that we purchased it nwe we have had problems with the window regulators breaking. We have now had four to break in the five years that we have had the vehicle. The first one that broke was repaired under warranty, but the other three have taken place since the beginning of August of this year. The first window regulator that we had to have repaired by the dealership cost $422. We have not had the other two windows fixed yet, because we are hoping that daimler Chrysler will help us out with this. I have contacted the customer service center and they will not cover the malfunction due to the warranty expiring. I feel this is an eventual safety issue. When the cable snaps it sounds like a shot gun firing, which could cause the driver to react to the noise. More than anything, I find it to be a manufacturing defect that consumer nation wide are having to pay for. I have read hundreds of similar problems of Jeep Grand Cherokee owners on car forum websites on the internet.

63 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/12/2007

The auto up/down feature for the drivers side power window does not work. When using the button, the window will go up a bit then back down, then up and down. Could potentially be a problem in that the window will not close.

65 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/02/2007

Power window failure (design flaw) my driver and passenger windows have both failed. After research on the internet, this is a common problem for Jeep and they have not addressed the issue, still selling the defective part with no modifications to correct issue.

66 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/15/2007

I have owned my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee for 2 years now. Overall I have loved the car but two weeks ago on the way home the driver's window just dropped into the door. Thinking that was odd and a rarity we continued home. Later that evening the left passenger window did the exact same thing. I decided that this wasn't a rarity but some sort of defect and turned to the internet to find out what I should do about the problem. To my dismay I find that there are lots of people that have run into the exact same problem and that it is because of a piss poor design that Jeep doesn't want to fix. Even more to my dismay I find that not only does Jeep not want to fix the issue that want to charge $450 per window to fix it.

67 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/11/2007

We have had the windows in our 2002 Jeep cherokee just drop, when taken to the dealer the whole window regulator has to be replaced, even though it is a small piece that breaks. The same window twice has now fallen. The dealer rep said this is a huge problem for the Jeep line and they have had to order large ammounts of the regulators to keep up with the breakage. We have a 2006 Jeep liberty at the tv station I work at and both of the rear windows did the same thing, yet no recall by the manfacuter, when asked at the dealer they just shrug their sholder the cost of the unit is around $450 dollars and then the cos of labor thank you.

68 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/15/2007

I bought a new 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from hoover Chrysler/Jeep in summerville SC. While still on warranty the drivers side automatic window failed to the down position due to a defective regulator. This occurrence happened in our second year of ownership and was repaired by the dealership. The same failure occurred again to the drivers side rear window on 4/4/07 and again to the passengers front window on 9/15/07. All of these failures were attributed to a common regulator neither the local dealership nor Chrysler corp. Has issued any recall or admitted any capability for this obviously defective part.

69 Power Window problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/09/2007

Driving down the road in a rain storm and the front passenger window fell into the door. I took the Jeep to the dealer and was told the window regulator failed allowing the window to fall. Regulator was replaced.

70 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/09/2007

In April 2007 the passenger power window of my 2002 Jeep cherokee limited stopped working, now 5 months later my drivers power window has done the same thing. Dealership says it's not a recall item. . . How is this possible? I see on all the blogs that this problem is rampant with 02 Grand Cherokees. Updated 09/26/07.
