2 Steering Failed problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

I was driving on roadway at about 40-45 mph. I tried to turn into wawa parking lot. When turning into parking lot, noticed steering was very difficult. I stopped in parking lot but couldnt turn into parking space. Truck drives but is nearly impossible to steer under slow driving(under 40 miles per hour). Once going over 40 mph, truck is a little easier to steer but not anywhere near how it was prior to steering failure.

5 Steering Failed problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Vehicle randomly brakes unintentionally for 5 to 10 seconds - engine and steering fail all at the same time. A loud collision warning along with red alert braking indicators. I informed a local dealership several months after purchase (summer 2015). They reported no specific codes or recalls. The issue has occurred multiple times. 11 Steering Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/09/2009

I have a 2006 Grand Cherokee with 30,000 miles. While driving on a residential road, the steering gave out and the vehicle crashed into cars on the right - the vehicle was going around 15mps. Upon inspection the actual inner ball joint that threads into the power steering unit broke free causing the front right wheel to cut loose. The threads were stripped off of the ball joint that connects the rod into the power steering unit. My insurance adjusters quote did not include the steering rack/rod as he did not believe it broke due to the impact in the accident. The threads in the power steering unit are fine. Chrysler's investigation determined are not responsible and there was no component failure. The damage on the vehicle was all front end (bumper, grill, etc) and there is no damage on any of the steering components, just the failed threads. If the steering did fail and the vehicle was on the highway this accident could have been very severe. The steering rack has been replaced and the old parts are available for inspection.

12 Steering Failed problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/21/2004

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the abs would not lock or "grip" as quickly as it should. The failure caused difficulty when braking. She also noticed that there was a "gliding" effect when driving 40 mph and attempting to brake. Furthermore, she experienced difficulty turning the steering wheel. As a result, she made wide turns due to the amount of effort she had to put into turning the wheel. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they checked the brakes. The dealer changed the brake pads and stated that everything was fine. The second time the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for the abs failure she was informed again that everything was fine. The vehicle has not been inspected for the steering failure. The current mileage was approximately 43,000 and failure mileage was approximately 20.
