I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe with approx 15,600 miles. I had just finished pumping gas and started the vehicle. Put vehicle in drive and noticed the steering wheel would not turn. Turned car off and on and still nothing. Tried again this time power steering had returned. The check engine light is now on. Drove car home. Called dealership next morning and was told couldn’t get car in for three weeks. I feel this car is unsafe to drive!.

In January work related to recall 95b was performed on the Jeep. The next day the issues started with a warning light indicating the hybrid system needed service. The Jeep has been in repair for this issue 6 times and over 56 days with no resolution. It is currently in for repair. A buy back request was made but both fca and the arbitrators indicate it is not a safety concern. There are safety concerns related to the warning light as it appears to impact electrical communications in the vehicle. Repair notes indicate the communication issues. Also, power steering has stopped working and the engine has died while driving causing a rapid deceleration. Multiple users are reporting the same issues or additional impact related to the hybrid warning light that started after 95b work.

On December 31, 2024 we had a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo cause a crash due to malfunctioning parts. The abs brakes failed and locked up. The steering wheel also locked up, causing the vehicle to crash hard into a guard rail. This resulted in the vehicle being totaled, property damage, and a er visit. While braking on a mountainous road, the brakes and wheel locked up and the vehicle could not be controlled. The police report states this is what happened. We had the vehicle into the dealership multiple times within a year stating that the brakes weren't working properly. They kept telling us that they couldn't find any issues; however, they kept trying to replace different parts to both the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the police, insurance adjuster, and a collision body shop. The vehicle was totaled and not 1 single air bag deployed during the collision either. This incident was confirmed by the 3 parties I listed. A family members life was put at risk and looking at the damage, it appeared that it started to roll but ended coming back down instead. When I contacted mopar about this incident, I was informed of the recall. They also said that there was a fix for the recall. However, there is no fix as to date. We are short a vehicle, which was paid off, an increase in auto insurance, and had a lifetime max care warranty through mopar. None of this was in our control. The insurance company has taken the vehicle into their possession. There was no warning signs, it just happened suddenly.
My wife was driving my kids to school and the Jeep went into limp mode. This Jeep relies too much on the battery to run everything and the batteries failed, at 39k and 2 years of ownership. It was showing steering, sos, brake, airbag, anti collision system failures with no prior warnings.

Power steering as I was making a right hand turn the red warning power steering icon flashed on the dash and I was unable to complete the right hand turn and proceeded to drift in to the oncoming traffic lane and ended up on the sidewalk facing the on coming traffic lane. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed at this time the vehicle or component has not been inspected at this time this was the first time in traffic.
The Jeep will display “power steering unavailable” while driving, causing the steering wheel to lock up and be unable to turn while driving. Then the automatic braking, collision warning, and lane departure will all announce it is unavailable. This has caused us almost to crash multiple times. We took the vehicle to Jeep, they witnessed the power steering fail while driving, and told they can not find any remedy. This has been a daily occurrence since.

On mopar recall service done shows it had been serviced and bunch of lies I have never taken my 2021 Jeep to get serviced for power steering issue. Barely came out 1 week ago and crazy service man at boggus tipton Jeep in brownsville texas named josh, white male wanted to charge 4500 dollars to repair knowing supposibly there was an issue recall and I declined so wanted to charge me 2500 after I declined. He was more than likely gonna charge Chrysler and me both ways to make the dealership double the money for a bull**** fix. My Jeep has never been in service for the power steering recall. After readings previous comments I think Chrysler is lying that the fixed and issue on many customers of recalls. [please check your VIN and put a complaint and call Chrysler like I am tomorrow and will get an attorney involved for a false fix and claim.
For the second time since the vehicle was purchased eps failed. The first time there were other issues and errors. The car cannot safely be driven under these conditions. When taken to the dealer they say they cannot recreate the issue and then it is drivable. Our concern is that these issues are not being properly logged and there is a serious electrical defect in the car that could result in a failure while it is being driven. Since there is "no trouble found" it does not need to be logged by the dealer and information will never reach the oem to note an issue and drive recalls or corrective quality actions.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle was shaking severely, vibrating, and bucking, causing the driver to almost lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle started losing motive power and stalled. During the failure, the "power steering" and "power brake" failure warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The contact stated that the secondary battery was previously replaced due to a failure with starting the vehicle. The failure mileage was 44,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the power steering failure warning light had illuminated. While attempting to steer the vehicle, the steering wheel felt loose while driving at various speeds and the vehicle was difficult to steer. The failure had become more persistent over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the steering gear had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA campaign number: 23v352000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 58,000.
While merging onto an interstate, the steering wheel became stuck in the r turn position. In order to return the wheel to the center position, driver had to pull steering wheel back to center. This issue only occurs when the car is going greater than 35 mph. Driver can let go of steering wheel and the steering wheel is stuck in the r turn position and car continues to turn right. It does not happen when turning left or merging left. It happens on a daily basis when merging onto interstate. This issue has increased to about 2-3 times daily for the past 2 weeks and increasing in occurrences. It has been reproduced by a mechanic. No warning lamps or messages appeared on dash.
Massive alerts, on and off every few miles, then power steering locked out when pulling into an intersection. Almost was hit. Luckily, I was able to put the car in reverse and back into the side street. This needs immediate attention. Had the vehicle towed to dealer.
Vehicle quit running while driving was going about 5 miles an hour just shut down tried to restart cranks but will not start no safety issues we had to call a tow truck and have vehicle towed to dealer has about 24,000 miles on it. It sounds like a fuel pump issue. Valley motor city Jeep in cuyahoga falls, ohio, 330-937-9481 where the vehicle is being repaired called me Friday 9/6/24 and said they ordered a fuel pump I talked to christy, the service writer she said parts will be in next week. Does Chrysler have any recalls on this?.
Service power steering, blind spot alert temporarily unavailable, seatbelts not buckled came on and started beeeping, start/stop not ready, and service electronic stability control all turned on at once. I pulled over to the side of the road to try to restart the vehicle and I lost my power steering.
Recalled rear coils, over 2-3 months ago, taken to Jeep dealership in morgantown wv, taken for front ball joint knuckle pin coming lose, causing the upper ball joint to start to make noise, unable to control steering when raining or going over bump video was send to mopar when claim and complaint at the time, prior two weeks before also called and report it, someone canceled my call, and said they had no remedy at that time. Was told they had no remedy for recall at that time. Morgantown Jeep then proceeded to fix the rear suspension coil recall. Never notified me the part that was recalled was in fact broken when it was removed. Instead replaced it then told me my rear suspension, structs, and say bar links are broken on both sides of my rear end which mechanically is attached to these coils which is the resulting damages of driving the vehicle for 40,000 miles with improper installed coils. I report this to mopar when giving them the car, the rear end always bounced. I went through my first set of tires in less than 18,000 miles due to this. My case managers name was mary, she was very rude. Called me a liar more than once. They would not even call me to come pick my car up. When talking to the customer service guy at Jeep in morganttown. He said mary said fix only the parts and only what the exact recalled said. And they would not evaluate or do anything for my front control arm and pinch bolt, they tighted it, I even submitted photos where they just tightened it submitted to mopar. Also asked for submission of buy back program due to value dropping more than 10,000 dollars in 3 weeks time, attempted trade off for 38,000- owed 42,000 in octor 2022. Nov price dropped to 32,000 trade in. Value now for trade in due to severity of mechanical issues is now down to less than 28,000, I said 55,000 dollars for this car. I have a 2. 5% interest rate and did not carry over anything over msrp on this vehicle. I am unable to trade it. And the vehicle is barely drivable.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel seized. The contact was unable to turn the steering wheel to the left or the right. The contact was then able to get the steering wheel to turn using more than normal force. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to reset the power steering; however, the steering wheel was not functioning normally. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering rack gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v637000 (steering). The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
Navigation touch screen delamination rendering the user interface that controls many of the car's functions inoperable. Many of the advanced driver assistance systems along with settings for the car's engine, suspension, and steering are controlled through this interface. This is a widespread issue in the wk2 models of Jeep Grand Cherokees. Safe operation of the vehicle is predicated on a functioning touch screen. The car cannot completely be operated safely without this user interface. I reached out to stellantis with my concerns. Stellantis will not cover the cost of replacing the screen once the car is out of warranty. These cars are unsafe to operate without a functioning touch screen.
Frequently all lights go on while driving check engine goes on here and there on the highway. Loud noise when you start the car and continues for about 2 min after the car is turned off as well. . All lights went on and was unable to move the vehicle in the middle of a street. I have taken the vehicle in several times to 2 different dealers and I am told there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s a danger to my family and I for the car to continue to do these things as the car is unable to be moved. .
-steering boot popped open causing steering rack assembly to need replacement at 3,216 miles. -power steering warning light engaged making me aware of an issue on 8/5/24. A strange cranking noise when making u turns occurred infrequently. -car was taken to a repair shop on 8/5/24 where prior suspension, steering and wheel alignment work had been done on 6/25/24 due to fender bender. Diagnostic was performed and repair facility advised that code stated that a "power steering (computer) update was needed" and that Jeep would have to perform the necessary computer update. -car was subsequently taken to Jeep dealership on 8/5/24 and dealership stated that a new power steering rack assembly was needed and that manufacturer warranty would be notified. Communication from dealership on 8/28/24 added that steering boot was torn and that incident was billed as additional claim to insurance incident on 6/25/24. -vehicle component has not been confirmed by manufacturer and dealership is unwilling to pursue inspection of part because vehicle was involved in a fender bender on 6/25/24 at 2,410 miles. - initial repair facility does not believe that damage to steering boot existed on 6/25/24. -insurance representative has confirmed damage and paid additional claim, but cannot confirm if it was caused due to a defect in the part. It is my opinion that this issue may be caused by a defective part due to the timing of the issue and visual inspection of the part. I would like for NHTSA to evaluate the soundness of this power steering component due to the documented power steering component failures and recalls of the Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo models manufactured 2021-2024. Due to the fact that the two repair facilities provided entirely different reasons for the power steering warning light, I would also request an investigation into the code that should appear when a power steering boot or steering rack assembly fails verses the code for a power steering "computer update".

The front suspension rattles and clunks constantly as if there is loose linkage or ball joints going bad. It is happening at every speed and is worse when it is hot outside. I am concerned that something is loose and will result in a loss of control. The dealer has been unable to find the source of the loud clunking noise but says everything looks ok.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000.
While driving the power steering would quit working. It would turn off and on randomly. I have found this to be a very common issue among these vehicles.
The steering is compromized. The wheel pulls or "locks up" and is not smooth when attempting to steer the vehicle into traffic or from lane to lane on the highway. I looked up any recalls and there is a recall for the steering rack for similar Jeeps but not my speciifc VIN number. I took the car in for service. Certified mechanic checked the tires, the alignment, the shocks, etc. And determined the car needs a new steering rack. The car has 62000 miles and is one week past the 5 year ownership period and is in excellent condiiton. I called Jeep customer service and they directed me to contact your office and report the issue as you have hte ability to create a recall. Please contact to dicuss further or so that I cna answer specific questions you may have.
The contact leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v132000 (suspension, steering) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I-5 just south of grapevine, CA, is a 4-lane freeway, speed limit 70 mph. It is quite steep, perhaps 4 or 5 %. It is very heavily traveled, and is used by a large number of 18-wheelers. It has a slow lane on the far right, for trucks and cars pulling trailers. I was in the #1 lane, traveling at 70 mph. About 5 miles south of grapevine, CA, the car completely lost control of the steering. I came within inches of impacting the guard rail, and hitting a large tractor-trailer. By braking gently, and making greatly exaggerated steering inputs, I was able to maneuver to the slow lane, and, driving at less than 15 mph, was able to get to a truck stop parking lot, where the car was towed to a Jeep dealer. This is the third catastrophic safety failure this car has suffered. The first was explosion of the front transfer case, scattering transmission parts all over the road, the second was the failure of the left front axle boot. Which spread grease onto the brake disc. Fortunately, both of these problems occurred at very low speed, so accidents were avoided. This last failure almost killed me, my wife, and my little dog.
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while accelerating after having stopped at a traffic signal at approximately 15 mph she felt the steering wheel had locked, pulled the vehicle to the right, and crashed into a guard rail. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle's front end had been damaged. The contact stated that both the driver's and passenger side front tires had also been damaged by the crash into the guard rail. The contact stated that police were on the scene and wrote a report. The contact stated she had been treated by ems, but was not transported to a hospital. The contact stated she had pain in her neck and both shoulders. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic in her home state. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the right and left control arms needed to be replaced and that the pinch bolt at the uca ball joint and the knuckle had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact had been contacted by her local dealer about NHTSA campaign number: 24v132000 (suspension and steering). The contact related the crash to the recall. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer for the recalls and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The stalantis manufacturer of 2023 Jeep vehicles has modified its steering/transmission controls to cause a safety concern. On the steering wheel are two “auto stick” (aka “paddles”) which when touched switch the transmission from automatic to manual. The “auto stick” controls are marked (-) minus on the left side of the steering wheel and (+) on the right side. Beneath them are the controls for the radio (or other media). These are “buttons” on the left that control the channels (up & down) for the radio. On the right side they control the volume. The safety concern is that the “auto stick” can be easily hit at the same time when attempting to use the radio controls and it will immediately shift the transmission from automatic to manual. The auto-stick control can also be inadvertently hit when using the steering wheel in a normal manner. This is dangerous. The vehicle can go into a lower gear and the engine can hit the “red” line as it becomes stuck in only one gear. The vehicle becomes difficult to control unless the driver can immediately sense the manual transmission and then hit the proper paddle a number of times to gain control. I have had to pull over to the side of the road a number of times and turn off the vehicle and wait 60 seconds for it to reset to the automatic transmission upon restart. Prior to the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland design, the “auto stick” controls could be disabled by the driver using the electronic screen and setting it to “disable” the paddles so they did not work (or conversely made to use at the drivers discretion). Now there is no way to disable the auto stick controls and even a slight swipe at them changes the transmission from automatic to manual. I consider this a dangerous safety concern which can easily allow a driver to lose control without realizing it. Please contact the manufacturer stanlantis to immediately make a modification to the transmission controls.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep grand wagoneer. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the instrument cluster was flashing "systems disabled" and the steering was difficult to turn. The contact depressed the brake pedal to slow the vehicle however, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence and the vehicle was later towed to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred once. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Lost brakes and steering going 55 mph, and then many warning lights were on the screen saying that different systems were disabled. Was able to coast vehicle to a safe location. Had vehicle towed to dealership 4/29.
