1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/26/2020

We had issues with car not starting all winter, but could be jumped. We bought a new battery & it worked well for a while. Then wipers started turning on randomly & over head lights would turn on. Then the car wouldn't start again, turn the key over & it started. Then it died again & every thing worked bit it wouldn't started, so we jumped it. I barely got home because it would barely drive. It has been parked in the driveway since with a red light on control panel on. Fuse box looks fine. It only clicks when the key is turned & the dash goes crazy.

3 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/19/2016

Amongst other issues: vehicle fails to start occasionally, from both cold and warm states. From completely off, turning the key begins ignition but often does not start the vehicle. Engine sputters but does not complete the start. On some occasions, depressing the gas pedal while trying to start the vehicle works, leading me to believe this is one of the widely reported tipm issues plaguing Jeeps from 2007-2014. I conclude the fuel pump fails to receive a signal to start from the tipm which causes the ignition failure. In addition, I have had multiple electrical issues including doors locking and unlocking when the opposite corresponding buttons are pressed, windshield wipers turning on when the turn signal is used, warning lights on the dashboard reporting non-issues, failure of power steering, and failure to accelerate when the gas pedal is depressed. Please address this issue as soon as possible.

4 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/09/2016

After filling my gas tank and grocery shopping, I came out to my car and it wouldn't start, I then had it towed to my local Jeep dealership, they diagnosed it as a faulty tipm sensor, after researching online, turns out I am one of hundreds of thousands dealing with the same issue, Chrysler should have to be held responsible for knowingly continuing to install faulty sensors and then not assisting with repairs. Outrageous!!! what is the point of investing in an american brand when they are not held accountable?? losing all my faith. . .

7 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

Today and six days ago I parked my Jeep, turned off the ignition and removed my key. I went to start my car about one hour later and there were no display lights on my dashboard. The vehicle would not start and the shift lever could not be moved. I thought I might have a dead battery. A friend stopped by my car. He tried to start the car with my key. No electrical power or lights were present. He opened the hood and said everything looked fine. He closed the hood hard. He put the key in the ignition and moved it around. The display lights came on and the car started. I had the battery checked and it was fine. I put a new battery in the car less than one year ago. The same thing happened today while I was at the post office. Is this an electrical problem or a bad ignition? a neighbor said he heard something about an ignition problem with Chrysler.

8 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

I was driving up the street heard something like a ran over something then Jeep cut off got out to see if I ran over something but nothing was there and Jeep would not start back up, what if I had been on the highway or busy traffic I could have been seriously hurt, which u am blessed that did not happen, the problem I have is Chrysler should notake anything that could cause you bodily harm. A computer should never go out that is dangerous. I had to have the Jeep towed to my home and then to a ship on two different times an one time back home from the shop because I did not have 900. 00 to repair. So I'm stuck without having my Jeep repaired because I'm on a fixed income. Also having electrical problem where Chrysler did poor wiring. , cigarette lighter keep going out, blinker and radio wiring is terrible and one of the front lights. Chrysler you got to do a better job, because I loved my Jeep, but very disappointed because I can't afford to have it repair.

17 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/11/2010

2002 Jeep Liberty will not start when turning key in ignition. From what I've read online, this is a widespread problem. I'm trying to find a place to repair; first service department said that they cannot do it because a dealership will need to reprogram the key to the mechanics of the steering column. This problem has been happening several times in the last week. Very problematic since we live in ohio and have a 15 month old. Cannot afford to be stranded with a toddler in frigid weather.

18 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/05/2009

2003 Jeep Liberty renegade. Can put the key in and turn, but car will not start. Seems to be a common problem amongst Jeep Liberty owners, as I have seen many posts online with the same problem. Apparantly a component of the steering column that connects to the ignition switch is defected. Jeep should absolutely address this issue and issue a recall.

19 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/15/2008

For a month or so the key had been getting stuck in the ignition and you would have to start the car and turn it back off to get the key out. One night we were sitting in car trying to get it to start. The Jeep wouldn't start and within seconds smoke was coming out from the top of the hood. There was 3 adults in the Jeep and 2 children. We all got out and within a minute there was flames dropping from the bottom, then within the next few seconds flames were coming up over the hood. The fire department was called and the fire was put out. We were all safe but the Jeep ended up being totaled. I was told that the wires to the battery overheated and caught fire. I believe this was a result of something to do with the key getting stuck in the ignition.

20 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/25/2007

Ignition key will not turn once it is in the ignition. Because of this the car cannot be started. The gear shifter cannot be moved into neutral. The key, rocking the car, turning the steering wheel, working the gear shifter, changing the tilt of the steering column, have no affect on the situation. Will not release the steering column. There have been variations of this happening over the last year and after a few jiggles it worked just fine, but now the ignition will not turn.
