5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/20/2016

I took my vehicle to the dealership to have the orc module replaced as part of recall campaing r06. The service writer informed me that after r/r of orc, they had to replace the front impact sensors, which was not part of the recall, and afterwards they could not communicate with the orc and it would cost me $100. 00 or so to have issue diagnosed. I couldn't afford it and now have no air bags. Also after leaving the dealership I noticed the pass. Seatbelt is in a constant locked position while the drivers side seat belt never locks even when brakes are applied. Fca said I wld need to pay for the diagnosis & if found to be related to the orc recall fca would reimburse me but I can't afford the diagnosis fee. So now I have to drive a vehicle with no air bags and no seat belts. How can this be considered a remedy to a recall situation? fca stated that it did sound like it would be related to the orc recall. If that is the case why should I have to pay for the diagnosis? it doesn't sound like to me that fca truly cares about the safety of their customers. Is there anything that can be done to get this rectified without cost to the customer? this happened in may of 2016 & I didn't know I could report the incident to anyone or should even question it until I spoke with a neighbor who used to work for a dealership who advised me to look into the issue further as he said it didn't sound right to him.

11 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/07/2014

Whenever the steering wheel moves between the 1 and 2' o clock direction the esp/bas light comes on and cannot be turned off without shutting off the engine. It has happened while parked and in motion at low speeds. I took it into my local dealer for a diagnostic and it was reported to be a faulty steering sensor/clockspring. Which controls the esp/bas program as well as the deployment of the airbag should there be an impact. I took my Jeep in early February and the part was placed on back order because there was none available in the nationwide inventory was expected at the earliest, mid-may. The recommendation is not to drive the vehicle. I followed up in early may and that date was shifted to August. I followed up in this past week and the date has been shifted yet again to mid-September. Going on 7 plus months without my vehicle due to one part that is a safety issue and seemingly a common one looking at the other complaints filed on this site is ridiculous. I have tried getting this part through other after market places online and it can only come through Jeep/mopar part authorized supplier. This needs to be looked at or recall needs to be issued to escalated to give this problem more visibility in orde for it to be corrected.

Jeep's m35 orc sensor recall has been closed since January 2013 but parts are still not available to repair the airbag from possibly deploying when it is not supposed to. 16 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

This complaint is due to the fact that I received a notice stating that there was a defective air bag sensor in our car but that there were no parts to fix it. When will this be resolved? why can a company continue to ignore regulations that require it to notify and then address manufacturing issues? the public puts their trust and money into the hands of these industry giants. We trust that they will provide us with safe and reliable transportation vehicles so that we might exercise our constitutional right to free travel. Recalls are designed to protect the consumer. Sending a notice out with no means to resolve the defect is not enough and is just not acceptable. We need our car to get to work and school. We cannot walk or buy a new car while we wait for the part to be created to fix our Jeep. This needs to be addressed. The air bag sensor light comes on everytime we start the engine.
