1 Warning Light On problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/26/2020

My vehicle shows zero recalls so it had the airbag replacement but the airbag light now comes on which I think indicates that the new airbag has malfunctioned. It seems they still used another inferior airbag product or maybe didn't actually replace the old one. The airbag warning light comes on when the car is cranked and stays on. This started happening a few years ago shortly after the airbag "repair" was made by a dealership and the airbag warning light will sometimes be off and sometimes be on. I don't recall the exact date the repair was made but , it seems it was improperly repaired.

5 Warning Light On problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/07/2020

My airbag light was illuminating intermittently. It then remained on. I am an engineer and check the codes. A code 0066 was presented. I changed the left front impact module, but same code and warning light were present. I did observe a strange things while diagnosing. Starting the engine will allow the airbag light to illuminate, system check, then extinguish but a few seconds later, light returns. The code cannot be erased. If I stop engine and immediately restart, the airbag light will cycle as normal but then remain off. When this happens, the code can be cleared, but if I stop the engine, remove the key then reinsert the key and start the engine the airbag light cycles then remains on with the code present. If I do the restart procedure, it will again cycle and remain off. The ocm was subject to a recall, I did bring to dealer initially in 2015, but parts were not available. I was called many months later and a repair was made, but I was not given any paperwork to prove this. The car is perfect with only 124,000 miles on it. It is well maintained.

The head restraint recall in my 2012 Jeep Liberty will not correct the warning light that seems to be an epidemic in this make and model. This orc module replacement that was covered by a recall in the 2011 model is still an issue in the 2012 but not covered by recall. Why does Chrysler still continue to sell vehicles with huge tipm failures? disgusting.

15 Warning Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/07/2016

The airbag warning light appeared on the dash and remained lit while driving. The vehicle was taken to a Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer where the n38 recall to repair the active head restraints was completed. After which the airbag warning light remained lit. After diagnosing the problem, it was determined that the occupant restraint control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle is out of warranty and there is no current recall on the orc module however, this is a safety issue which should be covered by the manufacturer. Fca USA llc was contacted regarding the issue and reported that unless the vehicle was under a third party service contract, Chrysler could provide no coverage on this safety matter. In addition to the two most recent safety issues (the n38 recall and the orc module), this vehicle also had an additional safety problem in March 2014. While driving on the highway, the vehicle completely shut off. After towing the vehicle to a Chrysler Jeep dealer it was determined that the pcm (the cars computer) had gone bad and needed to be replaced. Although the car was under warranty at the time, this was still an additional safety issue. This car was purchased new from a certified Chrysler Jeep dealer and has had no major accidents or water damage and has been well kept with regular scheduled maintenance.

25 Warning Light On problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

The warning light about air bags is lit-indicating that the air bags are not working. The dealership tried many remedies including a new passenger seat, and another used part. These repairs did not fix the problem because the parts needed to be "VIN specific. " I was finally told that the only remedy is a sprag and pad restraint, and that there are only five available in the united states. After waiting for the part to come in, the dealer informed me that the part was no longer available. The part is not manufactured any longer. I called Chrysler customer care. They gave my dealer another parts source, but the part was not available there either. I now have a car without functioning airbags. I am not sure if this affects only the passenger airbags or all airbags. I am afraid to drive the car at this point.
