1. Power windows - three out of four of the power windows on my 2006 Jeep Liberty sport have fallen within the last month. It is not wear and tear because I hardly use the back windows, it is a defect. I have an infant daughter and this is a hazard for her since she has to ride in the back. 2. Electrical sensors - while coming to a slow stop or turning my vehicle has suddenly shut off for no apparent reason. *****both of these issues are common with this make & model. Why is there no recall? is Chrysler waiting on someone to die before they make a move? I can't afford the ridiculous price to have these defects fixed. I have to feed my family. . . So I must tape my windows up and hope they don't get broken in to.

While driving down the street, the right rear window fell off it's track. This is the third time this has happened, the other times involved the front passenger's window in April of '07, and the left rear window in July of '08. . The first two were covered by warranty. Our '06 Jeep is one year past the 36 month warranty and has about 22,000 miles. I have talked with two dealers and the Chrysler complaint line and the information so far is that Chrysler, even though the problem is pervasive enough that they issued service bulletin # 23-008-09 to the dealers acknowledging the chronic problem, will not accept responsibility and makes the owner foot the bill. I have since been online and there are literally thousands of similar instances being reported. Someone is going to get killed. Chrysler needs to suck it up and issue a recall. Period.
Three of the four windows have had the regulators break - the first one repaired under warranty, the second the dealership charged me (even though I had a warranty in effect) and the third window is currently being held in place by gorilla tape (the view out the passenger front window is fortunately not obscured). This window started falling in when we hit a bump driving down I-95 at highway speeds. Given the huge number of issues with this model year with the window regulators, it seems inevitable that the window of the final window will give way at some unknown point in the future. Why Jeep has not addressed this is inexcusable.
This is my second complaint concerning the rear windows of my 2006 Jeep Liberty. After reading all the complaints filed concerning this model of vehicle and the number of "repeat" failures, I just got done sealing the other back door window shut with silicone sealant. It is pretty bad when you owe the bank $11,000 for a vehicle and you have to constantly put money into it because of a defective part the manufacturer refuses to acknowledge.
Window has dropped 4 inches will not go up have to physically push up with hands and the window is taped to hold in place. In my state, a vehicle will not pass state inspection if the windows do not work especially the drivers side which is where my problem is. Considered a "safety" issue.

I was driving down the road with my son in the car. All of a sudden the rear passenger window went down. It was chilly, so I ask my son to put the window up and he said I didn't put it down. I tried to roll it up (power window) and heard a grinding noise, but the window would not go up. It apparently just fell down into the door and now I can not get it up. I went on -line to see if I could find a fix and ended up finding a huge amount of people with the exact same problem. I called the dealership this morning and they said I could bring it in and diagnostic is $120. 00. Are you kidding me???? so I taped a plastic bag over the window for now, but I did not realize how much I used my rear passenger window for driving, until it was no longer usable. This is absolutely unacceptable that this many people have had this problem and nothing has been done by the dealership or Chrysler.
Windows fall out of track, down into door. 2003 Jeep Liberty this has happened 3 times in 1 year.
My 2004 Jeep Liberty driver's side rear window opened on its own while driving on highway. I never open this window. It seems to be a well-known issue to Jeep but because no one seems to have died as a result (yet), they refuse to issue a recall.
I've now replaced two window regulators. . . Well, not exactly the whole thing. After doing my research I found a person that fabricates the vinyl plastic piece that is always under strain that literally supports the window out of . . . . Metal! (genius). I've purchased one for all the windows and am installing them as needed. Who in their right mind would think that little piece of plastic is going to withstand the test of time? this was a very very poor engineering solution. A soft material like that should not be put under constant strain of pull and weight. This is truly a faux pas on chryslers' behalf. It's like the part was deployed to ensure constant income due to repair! I've read hundreds and glanced at thousands of issues regarding this design and part. I am just beside myself from the manufacturers lack of response. Shame on you Jeep!.
I am experiencing a rattling sound when driving uphill or downhill through driveway, traveling 5-20 miles an hour. I took my Jeep 2002 Liberty 2wd to get serviced and received recommended repairs: prosteer control arm with ball joint upper center, remove and install propeller shaft to replace universal joints on both ends, rear wheel bearings, tail pipe is welded to muffler, muffler does not meet design specifications and should be replaced due to exhaust leak as well, remove rack and pinion, complete rack as does not meet design specifications and is leaking. I was driving about 25 mph and my rear right side tire was smoking profusely. I pulled over and noticed the gray smoke from my tire. I took the car to check the rear breaks. They were fine but was told that I had a leak from the exhaust pipe which dripped on to that area. The car has 75,806 miles. I was told that I could loose control of vehicle and entire area can collapse during traffic due to these issues. Aside from these issues, I am experiencing a whistling sound, problems with rear drivers side passenger power window regulator which produces grind-like sound. The window came off and I was told that I needed a new regulator for the window. I'm also experiencing a red stain in engine oil drippage on ground. Finally, strange odor from car -odor continues to be present whether I wash the carpets and seats (smells like mold/mildew or skunk).

Both rear power windows have failed within the last 2 days. Both windows have fallen, will no longer roll up, and are currently being held up with the help of a wooden shim.
On my 06 Jeep Liberty my 2 back rear windows have failed. The one I caught before it went down into the door, jammed some cardboard on the sides to keep it up. However, here in sw florida during the summer we have a "rainy" season for 6 months. Needless to say driving down the road one of these bands of rain starts pouring and now here goes the other rear window down "inside" the door this time. Will not come up! if this is not a safety recall I don't know what is. Let's just say trying to keep the car on the road, in the correct lane all while trying to find someplace to pull off the road until the rain stops. Of course, now the seats are soaking wet, and we Liberty owners know what comes next. . . . . . . . . . . Because the seats get wet all this nasty white stain is on them and must be brought in to get cleaned. Douglas Jeep (venice, FL) did take care of both windows within 4 days, I do feel it is Jeep's responsibility and I should not have been charged period ($192) douglas Jeep has always been very concerned with this problem and I appreciate them getting me in as soon as they did. I might add that these two windows failed within 2 weeks of each other.
Back window fell and switch will not bring it back up. This is my second window problem.
The rear left window stopped working, and now slides down into the door on its own. This seems to be a very common problem on Jeeps. At this point in time, anyone can walk up to my Jeep an simply push the rear window down from the outside. Luckily, I was alone in my car when the window stopped working and slid down on its own.
Jeep Liberty 2007 driver side window suddenly fell down and would no longer work leaving car wide open. Four days later the passenger front side window also just fell into door, no way to get windows up. One dealer says possible recall coming, another said they never heard of problem before. Being fixed under extended warranty but really is a safety issue common on Liberty's. Should be Jeep recall to repair all windows before it happens again.
I, like most others owning a 2006 Jeep Liberty have had several problems with the window regulators that Jeep continues to use. I have replaced two rear windows within a week costing about $1000. 00 on my vehicle which has low mileage. I consider this a severe safety issue as there is no warning to when the windows fail and objects enter the vehicle at a high rate of speed which could cause a crash or death.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated the rear drivers side automated window failed to operate. The contact planned to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer to be repaired. In August of 2010, the rear drivers side window regulator was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact noticed that the rear driver side window would exhibit an unusual noise when opening or closing until the window was no longer operable. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the lift plate was the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,240 and the current mileage was approximately 43,900.
The window on my 07 Jeep Liberty started making noises when it was rolling down and up, however it only did that once and it stopped going down or up altogether. The window falls down on its own while driving, shutting the door, or even just sitting there. It falls down about an inch at first and gradually goes down about another inch. I continuously have to pull the window up myself, just to keep it up for the short amount of time. The dealership stated it was a regulator, but I had to get a whole new "upgrade" for my year of the car. I believe this is absolutely ridiculous that I have to pay for all of these parts, when it is happening to everyone. I have seen so many comments and complaints. I personally can not afford to pay for it and do not want to experience this in the future either.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that both rear windows would drop down into the door panels without warning. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic on four ocassions where they replaced the window regulators; however, the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.
Last year, right rear power window fell into door while I was driving the car. The window would not go up again. Repair was $380. Now, the other three windows are having similar problems.
We were driving on the highway when the drivers side rear door window dropped to the bottom of the track. The window would not operate by the electrical switch, and could not be made to close. I am told by the dealer that this will cost 500 dollars to fix, even though thousands of these failures are recorded by Jeep. They also demanded a $75. 00 "diagnostic fee" to tell me this. This is dangerous. A child could be placed in serious jepardy by this defect.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 30 mph, the rear driver side window fell into the door panel abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician replaced the window. Approximately one year later, the failure recurred on the rear passenger side window. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the window was replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
I own a 2006 Jeep Liberty and have had it for approximately 2 years. During that time I have had to replace 3 of the 4 power windows due to mechanism failure. Tonight one of the windows I have replaced with manufacturers repair kit has broken so I will need to replace again. I have checked on the internet and this appears to be a prevalent problem with the Jeep Liberty and one that the manufacturer should be responsible for a recall and replacement with reliable metal parts instead of plastic. At $500 a window I can't afford to continue to keep replacing windows.
The back windows fall down randomly and won't stay up unless they are taped. The mechanic stated it was a faulty regulator. Jeep is aware of this, however, they refuse to acknowledge the issue. This is a serious safety issue as it is random, occurring while driving and when the car is parked.
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. While driving 2 mph, the contact noticed that the driver side rear window suddenly dropped inside the door. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current mileage was approximately 100,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Power windows on 2006 Jeep Liberty - 38,000 miles - window drops halfway down, when try power control it grinds and window will not move up or down with control, window falls into door. This is my third window & it is the regulator again. It is unconscionable that Chrysler/Jeep has not issued a recall (or has not been directed to by an authority) when it is so very obvious this is a manufacturer's defect.
Defective regulators on 2007 Jeep Liberty. Dealer wants $600 to fix a known defect.
2007 Jeep Liberty rear window fell down into door spontaneously as we are driving down the road with children in the rear seats. Defective window mechanism.
