1 Power Train problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/07/2025

After I filled up my tank, I drove and turned onto a busy highway. As I was turning, it felt like my car went into neutral. I had to take my foot off of the gas and looked to see if the shifter switched gears, but it was still in drive. After about 10 seconds it shifted into gear. If I did not wait for the road to be clear I could have gotten into a major accident.

3 Power Train problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/26/2025

Cracked oil pump housing/balance shaft module (bsm). The checking engine light came on, and the system requested an oil change after only 3k from the last oil change. I brought it to the mechanic, and the oil was refilled, and the checking engine light turned off. The vehicle keeps asking for an oil change. I opened the hood, and oil was splashed all over, leaving oil stains on the inside of the hood, hoses and surrounding surfaces.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral independently. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the shifter assembly tower lever. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 86,000.

5 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/08/2025

I was driving in traffic and it was bumper to bumper. I had to keep going into first, move a little then stop for several miles. Coming out of the [xxx], heading up the hill, I started to smell burning, the clutch then pinned to the floor and I was stuck in first gear, and the vehicle shut off, not overheating warning, nothing. I was able to start the vehicle after a few moments and then got it t the shoulder, had it towed and I was told the clutch pressure plate was fractured and a whole new transmission would need installed if the flywheel isn't damaged. It wont be serviced until March 28th or 29th and then I will know if a $2500 dollar fix turns into a $5000. 00 dollar fix. 54 thousand miles on this and it drove fine in traffic like this before and had no issues with it shifting or anything until this day. They say there is a recall on the Renegade specifically nhtsa20v-124 involving Renegades with 6 speed manual transmissions. I couldn't get any help from Chrysler, the recall information center but this information is out on the web. Next is lemon law attorney. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/08/2025

My Jeep has stalled while driving 3 times. It has been happening about once each year. The center console no long works. The screen just turned off one day and has never turned back on. Now it will not start. At first the dash turned on with all lights, would not start would not turn off break locked. Then the dash started flashing and the slowly diming until it no longer work. Then the rpm and mph startes going up and down then the car died off. There is a recall for Jeep Renegade that seems to reflect what it happening but the VIN search states no recalls. I now only now don't have a car that I'm still paying on but someone could have been hurt. When this initially started I did check for recalls, and as I just did again. I can't get it anywhere to be looked at.

7 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

After purchasing a new battery due to multiple issues with a drained battery, when trying to jump the new battery the Jeep would not take a jump. The lights came on and indicated multiple issues and the steering wheel became immovable. The Jeep will not start and each time if left hooked up will drain fully charged battery.

8 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/11/2024

Unknown running lights and blinkers. Continually replace bulbs and either burn out black or just stop working. Possible wiring /electrical issues? dashboard computer works at random. Ongoing for about a year. Last 3 months the dashboard lightning bolt light flashes along with the service engine light. It will lose power to move forward while in motion and at times loses steering power as well. Speed doesn't seem to matter. Can be going 65 mph or 25 mph and happens at random. Usually flashing bolt light disappears after vehicle is turned off and restarted but service engine light remains on for a few days but then disappears after that. Vehicle has been brought in to be repaired and diagnosed several times at different locations but since the warning lights on the dash disappear, the scan device doesn't detect an issue. Ongoing malfunction is potentially dangerous and very frightening despite how fast the vehicle is moving. Not sure how to move forward with resolution when nobody seems to find what is wrong with it? money continually spent on trying to diagnose without resolution is frustrating and not knowing details puts others at risk as well. No active recalls and have not found or any prior recalls that would explain. Light issues are inconvenient but mentioned in the chance they are a component of the source of bigger issues that may include electrical , powertrain, etc. . . . *dashboard warning lights along with loss of driving power has happened on multiple different occasions. In additional details below I will record most current episode.

9 Power Train problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/30/2024

Ac wasn’t working properly, replaced parts not working. Fan stopped working and removed fuse box and it worked bad wiring harness affecting all electrical, fire hazard, dealership would rather keep it than me driving because of fire or meltdown situation. Says part to repair has been discontinued. Why? engine hesitation, transmission when driving with jerk and almost causing vehicle to stop.

10 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

I bough this car in February with no knowledge of the prior lawsuit on these cars randomly stalling. The past month- my car has stalled multiple times, in the middle of the road and I lose all control. It is such a safety hazard because people will literally almost hit me. I have to hurry up and turn on the flashers and pull over and restart and try again. There is no warnings for this and once it stalls- the steering wheel locks as well! I thought it was bad gas but after doing all kinds of research , there was 2 previous recalls on this car for the same issue! if it was fixed, why is it still doing this? now I’m in a contract for this car and can’t afford to take a hit to my credit but it literally scares me to drive it! check engine light initially came on but since has disappeared. I have recorded my car doing this and honestly have just let it sit because I cannot afford a mechanical bill right now.

11 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

Fuel gage no longer accurately displays fuel level after a sudden loss of power of vehicle, and transmission lags when shifting gears.

12 Power Train problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/26/2024

On 7/26/2024 I was driving my 2017 Jeep Renegade 1. 4l eastbound on I-70 going ~65mph. My dash had zero warning lamps or messages and there were no other symptoms of any problem yet suddenly at mile marker 188 my engine had no power, abundant smoke exited my tailpipe and engine, and I was forced to immediately pull over into a shallow construction zone with heavy interstate traffic whizzing past us. I turned my vehicle off and just turned the power back on for any information. Only then did the check engine light illuminate. I searched through my dash indicators and saw that there was simply no reading for oil temperature. I have immaculate maintenance records since the day I purchased my vehicle in 2019 including regular full synthetic oil and filter changes (on average 2,989 miles for years). I had two multi-point vehicle inspections at my original dealer (my due diligence maintenance before my extended warranty expired) around 2,000 miles, an oil change 1,038 miles, and a cooling system pressure test at 1,029 miles before this incident occurred. I had two independent, certified mechanic companies diagnose and confirm my vehicle condition: cylinder 1 had no compression with a crack in the piston. My vast research on Jeep Renegades with 1. 4l and 2. 4l engines validates all my issues. I believe this catastrophic engine failure at a shocking odometer reading of 61,881 is due to a defect and it puts me and others at major safety risk. This was my second financially offensive event as my first involved having to replace my clutch system at mile 45,057 for ~$4,500 despite having owned and properly operated other manuals with no issue for years. In addition to the cost of maintenance, multiple expensive repairs, numerous towing events, mechanic diagnostics, renting cars when this Jeep failed me, I am now looking at a $10,000 engine fix for a historically unreliable vehicle. (records and vehicle inspection available upon request).

13 Power Train problem of the 2022 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 07/16/2024

When attempting to accelerate the vehicle hesitates for several seconds and does not move then lurches forward. It leaves me with no power in the middle of the road or when crossing a highway. It is intermittent but very dangerous. It happens from a stand still and while slowing down and then accelerating. This is a common issue in many Jeep Renegade forums and aftermarket parts are readily available to fix this issue. Why can't Jeep? the aftermarket part was recommended by multiple Jeep Renegade owners as it does adust the tuning and gas pedal response. Why can't Jeep fix this wide spread serious safety issue? how many accidents have happened because of this extreme power turbo lag? the lag is extreme. Far beyond the typical turbo lag. It happens daily.

14 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/20/2024

Engine stalled (lost power) while driving on the interstate during rush hour traffic. I had to pull into emergency lane. This happened 3 times within an hour or so. We almost wrecked the car. Very scary and dangerous situation. I checked and there are no recalls with my VIN number. I’m not sure what to do now.

The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking and hesitating while shifting between gears. The contact stated that the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer where several unknown parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

16 Power Train problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/13/2024

2015 Jeep Renegade trailhawk has a failed ptu being repaired at a cost of $3500. There are only 41,000 miles. In 2022 while still under warranty I had it in for shifting hard problems. I was told it was the thermostat which they replaced. I didn't take it back to Jeep until may,2024 due to it was only shifting hard sometimes and I figured they would not do anything. I took the car in due to hard shift and tire pressure light being on a day after it came on. Jeep fixed, a day later it came back, Jeep fixed. When I got home, tp light on again. Now they tell me the shifting is a different problem because the computer says dtc code went off a month ago saying there was a problem (and claim I have to bring in within a week). No warning lights or messages other than the tire pressure light which is still being fixed. Also see sb#21-025-19.

17 Power Train problem of the 2022 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Since may 2024, my 2022 Jeep Renegade sport has developed serious safety-related issues involving the fuel/propulsion system, power train, and electrical systems. Specific incidents include: strong fuel vapor odor detected both inside and outside the vehicle, even when parked, raising inhalation and ignition hazard concerns. Initial diagnosis of leaking transmission fluid under the vehicle (later reclassified as engine oil), with ongoing erratic shifting, severe throttle lag, and violent shaking at highway speeds. Electrical system failures including odometer flashing, gps malfunctions, and false collision warning system alerts. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized dealership. No lasting repairs were made, and the manufacturer (fca us llc / stellantis) denied multiple repurchase or replacement requests, despite safety concerns. Safety risks include potential inhalation of toxic vapors, engine or transmission failure while driving, and reduced control during expressway driving. These conditions have left the vehicle unsafe and inoperable. I have fully stopped operating the vehicle as of early 2025 due to the serious public and personal safety risks. Warning lights, throttle failure, and other symptoms began appearing around may–June 2024. I have already filed complaints with the arizona attorney general’s office and the better business bureau. I am currently including selected service records and manufacturer denial letters as initial supporting documents. If needed, I can also provide additional documentation upon request, including towing receipts, external repair assessments, and ring camera footage screenshots showing vehicle immobility. If needed for record consistency, I can also provide legal name change documentation upon request.

18 Power Train problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/25/2024

My grandfather has own he Renegade since it came out in 2017. It has had nothing but issues most of which as his granddaughter I had fixed. But the last at least year I've had his vehicle illuminate a check engine light. Especially in very wet weather, cold or hot weather. If it's a normal 65-degree days for a few days, it will go off. It's a very intermittent light. That you have to catch. Taken to autozone, dealership, etc. It's a p0420 code which is failed catalytic converter. Called and spoke to stellantis, mopar customer service multiple times. It's not an issue they refuse to acknowledge. Also pricing for a catalytic converter isn't possible. Because the only available ones are on back order hard.

21 Power Train problem of the 2019 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/12/2024

P1db7 check engine light code. Almost every other new Jeep seems to have this issue and just reading about it online the problem is so bad one person had a brand new car and on the drive home from Jeep dealer got a check engine light but that’s only because it was new under warranty.

22 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/03/2024

When it is raining, the vehicle shuts down and service warning lights come on. The service engine, service transmission, service hill assist, service parking break lights come on. The vehicle will start, but won't go into drive and no fuel flows into the engine to give enough power to move. After about 30 minutes, the vehicle might run, but it will shift very hard and the transmission won't fully engage. After 45 minutes, all the warning lights go off, except for the check engine light, and the car is driveable. This only happens in the rain or after a car wash.

23 Power Train problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/23/2024

While driving in a snowstorm, with 4 wheel drive engaged, the vehicle started swerving, and fish tailing. I was in town and going slow(20 mph). The dash flashed some messages, and the default kicked in so front wheel drive resumed and stability also. The main message was esc-emergency stability control, plus two others. I called a mechanic in the morning, who suggested the computer might reset. I turned the vehicle on, but the message stayed. I decided to go to the mechanic’s shop, but after two left turns I heard a “growling” sound and the computer did reset. It has been okay since.

Check engine light on. Ecm (engine control computer) malfunction. Dealer first denied any problems with vehicle even with check engine light on. So I took to it to independent service center, which confirm problem. By providing the service center report, the dealer then confirm problem. Problems/symptoms occur 2 days after financing vehicle.

26 Power Train problem of the 2018 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/31/2023

2018 Jeep Renegade stalling, turning off while driving!!! 4wd service message, can’t turn steering wheel, car stalls and shuts down where it pleases.

27 Power Train problem of the 2022 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/18/2023

My 2022 Jeep Renegade VIN tag: zacnjdb18npn57950 has had another issue pop up, I’m still having the vehicle shutdown and other issues. But recently I lost my headlights on now 3 different occasions starting on 12/18/2023, now about a week ago I lost both front daytime running lights both front marker lights and both front signal lights all at the same time. I was told by bay Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram in panama city, FL it happens but when I called my dealership back in connecticut papa’s Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram they told me I might loose a light or 2 but now all 6 at the same time and definitely not led’s with these extremely low hours on it. They thought it might be a voltage surge or something like that, I was told to take it into them and have a diagnostic done and also have the lights changed under warranty because led lights should last at least 15,000hrs not 500hrs - 1000hrs or around that. If it was lightbulbs and not leds, I could understand but leds are a minimum 15,000 hours and we’re way under that. I want someone to step in and get this dealt with before I call an attorney. I’m driving around right now with no front daytime running lights both front marker lights and both front signal lights out, I was stopped by a police officer today and told I should have it recalled just for the signal lights alone because that’s a safety issue. Oncoming vehicles cannot see which direction I’m turning because I have no signal lights, we need to get this addressed yesterday. Also I would’ve paid for one light but I’m not gonna pay for 6 because this now I know is a serious issue with my vehicle and to have all 6 go out at the same time be serious we know unless you have a surge 6 won’t happen.

28 Power Train problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/18/2023

Car stalled in the middle of the busy road with no warning when accelerating from a right turn between 12-24 mph and a "low oil pressure sensor" light displayed and disappeared for 3 seconds. Received oil change that day and valvoline did not mention any concerns about oil level. The next day, my car had been driving for 10+ min and struggled to accelerate out of light, specifically in range of 30-45 mph and the rpms shot up to 3000. Car kept running but struggled to down shift. Terrified of this happening on my daily interstate and state roads drive, especially in winter!!! taking to dealership service department to hopefully get this huge safety issue fixed.

29 Power Train problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

31 Power Train problem of the 2021 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/29/2023

We experienced an electrical failure while driving the Jeep Renegade. We had no power or brakes and multiple warning lights were flashing on the dashboard. Fortunately, we were able to pull into a business parking lot and stopped by running into a snow berm. We could not stop the engine and tried many times to turn the engine off during the 3 hours we waited for a tow truck. We were finally able to turn off the engine and drove it to the local Ford dealership with the tow truck following us. We went to the dealer the following morning and the customer service rep started the engine and experienced the same problem. He was unable to stop the engine. He said it could take up to a month for repairs since they only have one Jeep mechanic. I drove it the previous day on a 120 mile trip and traveled on I-75. It could have been deadly if the car failed on that busy interstate.
