Transmission Stuck In Gear Problems of Jeep Renegade

The headlights were on too long while the engine was off causing a dead battery. No big deal I thought. . . I jumpstart the car per owners manual instructions (it has a complex battery so even though I've jump started many different vehicles I wanted to make sure there weren't special procedures, it ended up being pretty standard). When it died it was in a garage so I had to manually unlock the gear selector to put the car into neutral to push it into position for a jump connection. I put the car in park and let the battery charge up a while. Once the car charged up enough, it started right up. At this point I thought I was in the clear, that's when the service engine light and service transmission light came on. The engine is running fine, transmission was fine before the battery died. Not only that, but I could not move the vehicle. It was locked into park. I was blocking the road in my neighborhood while I was manually unlocking the gear selector, I finally get the car to shift into drive and tried to accelerate. Only the engine would rev, no movement. Try to reverse, same thing. At this point I couldn't get the car back into park. I push the car back into the garage to get it out of the way and go to turn it off. The Renegade (push button start) will not let you turn the car off in any gear but park. It was stuck in neutral. After struggling more to force it back into park, I finally get it and was able to turn the car off. I'm lucky it didn't get stuck in d or r if it started working! I've never had such an experience jumpstarting a car and this is a huge safety concern. Luckily I was strong enough to push the car back out of the way, otherwise it would be stuck there indefinitely until a tow came. I've read numerous other complaints of this in online forums. Each one said a dealership had to reset the cars computer to make it work again.

When turning on car all warning lights came on and then each one started flickering one by one. Then my transmission light and warning message came on. Car would start but locked itself and couldn't shift gears . I tried unlocking it and shifted to reverse it would not accelerate and would get stuck in that gear so had to manually unlock and shift to drive and couldn't accelerate. Couldn't turned it off gear shift would lock itself. Happened while heading back home. So I took it to the dealership and saw the recall for transmission. They ended up doing something else that I didn't say yes to now they are charging me for it and while my car was getting repaired. They gave me a loaner car, I get in car accident in their loaner car I had insurance but only liability. Dealership won't give my car back until I pay in cash a deductible of 2,500 and plus repairs I didn't agree to.

My car just about stalled but it kept going. But then it got stuck in third gear. I drive all the way to the dealership. They said they never heard bout this problem. Well I just bought the vehicle in 2018 February.

The vehicle transmission was stuck in neutral and could not be shifted to any other position. This occurred after backing the vehicle up a few feet and then trying to shift from reverse into drive. There is no known procedure for shutting off the engine with the shifter in any position other than park. Because of this, the vehicle could not be moved and the engine could not be shut off. The only good part of this was that it was in neutral - I can't imagine what could have happened of the transmission had gotten stuck in reverse or drive.

The drive train failed while I was driving. A noise occurred (like a click) while I was driving on a highway (roughly 50 mph) and a warning appeared on the screen to service the transmission immediately. The transmission became unresponsive for 2 minutes. I could press the gas and the engine would rev but no forward movement occurred. Another click occurred and then I was able to move forward but the car was stuck in 2nd gear. After 30 minutes of idling on the side of the road, the transmission was then again fully responsive.

Jeep is consistently jumping into gear when placed in reverse. Most recently, while at a stop light, with my foot on the break it lung forward! (ungood). While driving, periodically gets stuck in a gear. (?). At least twice, the car has refused to turn over upon ignition engagement. Since I have obtained the Jeep, anything that has to do with the stereo gives me intermittent signals/sound, inclusive of the usb connections etc. (not a good experience). The driver's seatbelt for some reason occasionally will not latch. Something in the undercarriage sounds as if it is going to fall of or break at any time especially when going over bumps or ruff terrain.

Renegade when in motion going 40mph and encounters a hill/increase in grade, will not shift into next gear. The vehicle is stuck in the lower gear @ 40mph as the engine rev's over 3,000rpm but the vehicle won't accelerate and won't kick-in the higher gear. Have to nearly press the accelerator to the floor to force the vehicle to ramp the rpm's to 4-5,000 to get it to shift into the correct gear. Feels like I'm going to blow the engine when I have to do this but it won't shift into gear. This has been happening consistently for over a month. Called dealership, they said there are several software updates for the Renegade, so try that and see if it fixes the issue. Took to dealership today for 7 software updates.

My new Renegade started hesitating when accelerating and was not shifting properly. You could tell it was stuck in gears too long before shifting. Took it to the dealer 3 times. First time they updated the computer even though they said they did not notice any issues during their test drive. Second time the tech said he felt it and fixed the problem with a module update. It did ride great after that-but lasted for only one day. Took the vehicle back for the third time and they did nothing-said they could not replicate the problem. The whole time I am thinking maybe I am imaging the issue,only to speak to another customer in the waiting room about her ongoing issues in her 2012 cherokee-same transmission as in the Renegade. Now, the interior lights dim and come back on and the front wipers come on when you turn the back wipers on. The vehicle has 2070 miles on it. After reading the other complaints (car stalling while driving at highway speeds) I am concerned about driving it. The service man said I could bring it back-which I am going to tomorrow. But if they insist they don't feel it I am not sure what my recourse is. Do I have to wait till I crash due to a system defect>.
