Car stalled in the middle of the busy road with no warning when accelerating from a right turn between 12-24 mph and a "low oil pressure sensor" light displayed and disappeared for 3 seconds. Received oil change that day and valvoline did not mention any concerns about oil level. The next day, my car had been driving for 10+ min and struggled to accelerate out of light, specifically in range of 30-45 mph and the rpms shot up to 3000. Car kept running but struggled to down shift. Terrified of this happening on my daily interstate and state roads drive, especially in winter!!! taking to dealership service department to hopefully get this huge safety issue fixed.

Lose of power when accelerating out of parking lot. This now has happened 3 times with no warning light coming on in the car and vehicle is regularly maintained without issues.
Throttle body sensor, throttle body injector, and acceleration pedal are failing. I was in traffic and my car went into limp mode because of a code p2122 which is the throttle body sensor. My car did not want to go faster than 10 miles an hour.

We experienced an electrical failure while driving the Jeep Renegade. We had no power or brakes and multiple warning lights were flashing on the dashboard. Fortunately, we were able to pull into a business parking lot and stopped by running into a snow berm. We could not stop the engine and tried many times to turn the engine off during the 3 hours we waited for a tow truck. We were finally able to turn off the engine and drove it to the local Ford dealership with the tow truck following us. We went to the dealer the following morning and the customer service rep started the engine and experienced the same problem. He was unable to stop the engine. He said it could take up to a month for repairs since they only have one Jeep mechanic. I drove it the previous day on a 120 mile trip and traveled on I-75. It could have been deadly if the car failed on that busy interstate.

The vehicle on multiple occasions is shifting very hard mostly in between first and second gear, and sometimes third. The vehicle jerks forward like it had been hit from the back. It has also quit moving even though it was still running on a couple of occasions. It feels as if it’s going into neutral and then back into gear.

The contact's mother owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that on several occasions when the vehicle was started, the gear shifter failed to shift into drive(d). The contact stated that numerous unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,644.
As of may 5, 2023 vehicle begin to jump when pushing on the gas as though there was bad fuel or a misfire. Reported to the dealership as soon as I had an appointment on may 15 due to no errors on the computer they were not able to diagnose without a code was advised to continue driving car as there was nothing happening on their end. On July 20, 2023 the vehicle turned off while driving and stepping on the gas the vehicle then turned on with lights. I had never seen before and then pulled over to check on overheating which there was none turned off the car, and turned back on, proceeded to a auto parts store where they had an obd two reader for codes p2122 & u1400 were reported multiple times at a severity level three. Vehicle is currently at the dealership where the mechanic reset the codes and doesn’t know how to get them back. Vehicle continues to jump when pushing on gas.

This vehicle only has about 55,000 miles on it and the transmission is failing, somewhere between four and six gear the car starts jerking.
Every 2 days I'm adding a cord of oil to my engine. It started off. I would have to add a quart or two in between my oil changes and this thing is running unbelievably bad. Everything's failing on it now. It's leaking oil out of somewhere from the block. The manifolds leaking has been since day one and a thing runs so hot. It's unreal, it doesn't accelerate and then it tries to accelerate by itself. It bucks it decelerates and jumps gears.
Vehicle has been serviced twice for “drive train software updates,” and is yet again having engine issues with shifting gears and acceleration.
The 2022 Jeep Renegade was purchased brand new in April of 2023. Since it was purchased there is a 2-4 second delay when accelerating from a complete stop. I live in a small mountain town in colorado where I have to pull out into traffic all the time. I have nearly been hit by other vehicles over a dozen times trying to pull into traffic. I have brought this issue to the car dealership and they said there is nothing they can do because the turbo needs those few seconds to charge before accelerating.

Vehicle randomly stalls out, engine shuts off, while driving. Check engine, service fuel cut-off, parking brake, air bag, abs, coolant temperature high, service esc system lights and messages. All of these warnings and messages occurred during the stall out, never before. It's currently in the shop for the third time to figure out the problem and to get it fixed. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership/shop currently working on it.
Recently while driving to work at a traffic light as I rolled I heard my car start to accelerate and the check engine light came on. I began to observe, and found out that the gearbox does this when it is downshifted from 5th to 4th gear. Of course I didn't hit the car in front several times. The presence of such errors as u0402 and c2502. I went to the dealer but the dealer had never heard of this and only did a software update on the transmission and engine. But it didn't help, they changed the oil in the transmission, no result either, they gave me a document and said that the reason was the electricity. After searching the entire internet, I saw that cherokee had such a phantom acceleration for 14-15 years. And really the problem is inside the transmission. I want to fix this problem because the dealer doesn't know what to do.

The contact owned a 2021 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the transmission erroneously shifted into the neutral, causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer, but no service was performed, and the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100.
As I was driving on the freeway my car suddenly started to act and feel different. I had the ability to exit the freeway immediately and thankfully made it to a parking lot where my engine eventually died. I had the vehicle towed to my mechanic where he determined the rocker arm (attached to the mutli air actuator) on cylinder 4 broke and caused the engine to malfunction. Had I been unable to exit the freeway I would have been a road hazard and in an unsafe situation. My mechanic replaced the multi air actuator and the cam shaft. He also confirmed that he has seen this exact issue in other Chrysler vehicles, specifically Jeeps.
I recently had the following situation. Tuesday, Dec. 13th, 2022 a big storm hit, showered snow on us all day. My Jeep was parked with the passenger side to the north. . . Just setting the scene. Rain, ice, & snow coated my Renegade when I left work and I noticed that the dash temp reading was not working. I didn't need 4wd on the drive home. Wednesday morning, I started up and got a "service engine" notification with solid engine light. The snow was slick enough on the roads that I attempted to put it into 4wd but couldn't. Thinking that the engine light was on due to a 4wd issues, I babied it from my home to the dealership. I was told that a solid engine light means not critical and I should be able to drive it until my appointment on the 21st. Then I was advised to go to an auto parts store to have a free diagnostic. I had to wait until Friday. The tech there came out and within 5 minutes told me the codes p0072 & p0073. He looked them up for me to ease my mind (4wd still not going in so I'm still thinking that's the issue). He informed me that the codes are for the air conditioning sensor!! I did an internet search and found two pages of blog concerning the same issue from Jeep owners of differing vehicles. . Read more...
My customer satisfaction number is w20. I have been waiting since December 2022 to get the catalytic converter replaced. I was told there were 2 people ahead of me. Everytime I called I was told they were still trying to reach the people. They did update the software but now my Jeep is sluggish. I have to force the gas pedal to force the accelerator to the floor to pick up speed. So my gas mileage is very bad. I hope the engine does not go waiting so long to get a defective part replaced. I am in arkansas now and will be until my mom gets out of the hospital. I want to get my Jeep fixed now. I am close to batesville and jonesboro arkansas. Please tell me where I can take my Jeep to get it repaired or do I take the recall card to any Jeep dealer. I feel I have waited long enough.
Jeep Renegade issues: first no warnings signs of any kind were shown at time of both issues, 1st under hard acceleration or deceleration and sometimes while in turns under acceleration & deceleration you get a large bang from underneath the vehicle and it’s not only the sound but feels like the vehicle gets hit but it’s not. 2nd thing that has happened 3 times 2 times on regular roads and once entering the highway while at the top of the rte-15 south ramp after driving the vehicle at about 60mph-65mph the vehicle shuts down like when stopped at a light but your now entering a highway. When I told my dealership they couldn’t find either issue so I asked while I was here in florida and I was told Chrysler corporation know of this 2nd issue but isn’t doing a recall on this issue and I was told it’s happening to quite a few models not just the Jeep Renegade but others. Now I don’t drive it only locally as I don’t want to get killed by this vehicle. Both issues scare me greatly, first the loud bang and second the vehicle shutting down for no reason.
Transmission when driving it sticks in 9 gear. Loss power. Two years ago the value body was replaced, then 2-3 months ago it started the same loss of power dealer checked found nothing said to drive it see if it happens again. Two week ago took it back in to the dealer and they replaced the valve body for a 2nd time. Left the shop a few hours later the same thing happened again. Driving the highway and no power. Took it right back to the dealer on Saturday. Have not heard anything from them yet. The transmission service light goes on and the check engine light.
Since I’ve owned the car. When we go above 70 on highways with cruise control and a/c on the car will randomly turn off and the speedometer will say I am going 0 miles an hour. This has happened 5 times, everytime we go on vacation. And everytime the dealership states they can not mimic the symptoms. So it never gets fixed. Read about a power trans chip that’s faulty. Should be my vehicle included in that problem.
The Renegade makes a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle at about 35 mph and begins to dissipate at around 45 mph when the car is in drive. If I move the drive selector to manual shifting, the noise goes away for the most part. If I turn off the traction control, the noise disappears completely. I'm not real excited about turning off the traction control system as this could enhance the dangers of driving with reduced traction control. This happens without fail.
Transmissions are defective! will not go into 8th or 9th gear under any circumstances. Jeep says it is what it is. Transmission runs hot (3/4 or hotter) and mileage is awful. Factory rep was to meet with me and backed out telling dealer customers have to deal with it. Transmission will not hold up to driving 75mph for hours. Dealer was informed of issue 50 mi. After delivery and said it would fix itself after it hit 1k. Vehicles do not meet cafe standards. Mileage is 25 to 33 percent less than rating. I have had 2 Jeep cases and first one ended when rep was told not to meet with me. I believe it is another case of bosch having one tune for testing and one for the consumer like the eco diesel. I have emailed my congressman to let him know. I will bring my car wherever you wish to be tested. I have 2 of these and both are doing same thing. The blogs have several people who also have this issue. We paid for 9 speeds and not 6 or 7.
This has occurred 3 times in last 10 days. While making a right turn at about 15 miles per hour the d light starts flashing, a dash message flashes that the car must be in park to shift gears, and the car stalls to roll to complete stop with 100-150 feet. It takes a moment to get the car started up again. This is scary as someone turning the corner behind me could slam into me. Luckily this was after rush hour and traffic was light. Called dealership and they have no record of this recall. 48,000 miles on 2018 Jeep Renegade.
Picked up Jeep in kansas city. Got on highway and transmission (trans) would not shift into high gears. Called dealership and was told to contact local dealer. Got back to texas (560 mi. ) and contacted 4 dealers in the dfw area. All said there were issues with 9 sp. Trans. One said put 2500 mi. On and see if it is a computer break in issue. Took to local dealer with 3300 mi and they did a star case. Subsequently, I also went with manager and confirmed issue. Was contacted by ralph at Jeep (case #82736087). Was told car was submitted for buyback. Two days later, buyback was off the table, and I was stuck with it. Jeep said that no problem found per dealership. Called dealership and was told flat out that was not the case. They drove one off the lot and it did just fine (2022 model). Meanwhile, I posted on a Renegade forum and other people are having same issue. We refer to this as "paid for a 9-speed transmission, but only got 7. This is a safety issue. I drive mostly 75 mph highway roads in northern texas using my adaptive cruise and am causing harm by the rpm being much higher than it should be.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a ground failure in the transmission. The dealer cleaned the throttle bottle and fuel injection system, removed the connector, and repositioned the seal to allow proper connection. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 18v524000 (electrical system) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Oil consumption, electrical problems like lights flickering, fuel odor, brake light olways on.
While driving highway speed (55mph) I received a “transmission check” notification followed by “check engine” light engaging. Nothing felt different at this time. A few minutes later, I came to a full stop at a light. Upon turning green, I pressed the gas pedal to drive and the car revved, but would not move forward, as if stuck in neutral for about 10 seconds. If finally lurched forward and began to drive normally.
The vehicle engine has been shaking moderately since we purchased it. The dealer told us that is just the way the vehicle sounds and feels. Recently it has begun to shake more while stopped in traffic or at a light. The dealer told us the engine mount was broken. The vehicle has only 33,354 miles. This is a safety issue as the engine could become dislodged and cause an accident as well as the fluids would be a hazardous materials exposure endangering potential wildlife. Jeep originally told me it was covered under warranty and then later changed their mind. Either way it is a defective part of the power train and dangerous.
The vehicle was involved in a crash and no airbags deployed. The front right (passenger) side quarter panel, windshield bumper, headlight, marker light, and turn signal will all need replaced. With no safety restraint system, had the accident taken place at higher speeds, my passenger and myself could have been seriously injured or worse. The transmission, at 54,000, has began to overheat and slip while shifting. The cooling fans only work with the air conditioner on causing the vehicle to overheat. This vehicle has a 194° thermostat and the temperature gauge reads 227° but the actual gauge shows the temperature still in the middle, where it always is. I have replaced the coolant bottle due to it separating at the seam causing a coolant leak. Also, NHTSA show that I have zero pending recalls when I know there is because I never took the vehicle to the dealership because the dealership is permanently closed.
Started from Feb 2022 till April 2022 I had 3 time lights came up and car stopped on the road while I was driving. The first time was low oil pressure came on, and second and third time were both about engine service light on. So it happened once a month with about 1000 mileage driving. I was almost hit by the car behind of me coz the car stopped suddenly while I was driving. This really caused my concern about my safety. Dealer couldn't help me more about it except keep monitoring the oil consumption. They told me the car with 2. 4l v4 engine has this issue. I found out the same issue also happened to the other Jeep consumers and they have been involved in law suit. I need to file this complaint so could get someone's attention on this, Chrysler need to fix this engine design issue ASAP to save lifes.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while driving 65 mph after having a power train software update performed, the vehicle lost motive power and decelerated without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway. The contact restarted the vehicle several times while attempting to shift the vehicle into gear before the vehicle started operating as needed. The contact stated that the "check engine and check transmission" warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was then driven to the residence. The dealer sent out a representative to pick up the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact informed the dealer that the vehicle failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 16v529000 (power train) however, the VIN was not included. The dealer confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,699.
Outside temperature sensor fail in temperature under 31 degrees which causes check engine light to come on and disables four wheel drive to engage while driving in snowy conditions. Took Jeep to dealership repair cost $600 for a vehicle I’ve only owned for 25 days with 51,000 miles, they informed me that later down the road I will have to repeat this process again because this is a very common expensive problem in Jeep forum.
Dashboard lights suddenly start blinking, from seatbelt, airbag, check engine… then the d starts flashing and the car loses power (goes like in neutral), forcing me to pull over, when I can. This happens while driving, this happens often. Have visited a dealership twice, “no trouble found”. Danger to self and others.
