1 Battery Dead problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/13/2020

I have a push to start 2018 Jeep. The other day my car wouldn't start, battery died on it. It was fixed but then the ac/heat unit won't turn on at all. While looking for solutions I saw this issue was very common in 2018+ models and was wondering why there isn't recall on this if it's a electrical issue within the vehicle.

2 Battery Dead problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/25/2020

On 8/3/2020 with 300 miles battery is dead. On 8/13/2020 took to dealership and found nothing. 8/13 engine died at a signal and radio shuts down. Jeep is fine for 9 days without engine light on. 8/24 engine light returns on. 8/25 engine dies at a signal, and the radio shuts down. While on the freeway, battery lights, abs, and traction/stabilizer lights come on. The power steering goes out, and was hard to steer. The heater comes on via defrost vents blasting hot air and unable to turn off. Power acceleration goes out. Very scarey and dangerous. All lights are flashing on dash panel and the car is dies. Jeep towed to dealership. On 8/27 the technician tried to charge batteries for one and half hours on 1st attempt with no success. Technician said battery severely discharged and they could not retrieve information. On 8/31 after hours on a charge on the 2nd attempt, the batteries charge and technician cleared all codes technician drove it a couple of days (mileage is now 670) and because no codes returned "on", says the Jeep is fixed. On 9/3 we pick up the Jeep. The next day 9/4 new panel lights come on for the parksense system. The dash panel says to wipe clean. They are clean. The turn on/off button light continues to blink. Opened a case # 77098337 with Jeep care on 8/31 and have had no help and sent detailed documention and videos of the problems. The cause is definitely electrical with the batteries not being able to hold a charge. We are in fear of driving this Jeep and being stranded somewhere remote and have what happened to us happen again ending in an injury accident or death because of the loss of power to steering and acceleration. Extremely dangerous. We thought the Jeep was going to catch fire because of the heat coming out of the vents. Please help! I have videos but cannot upload here so took screenshots from the videos.

3 Battery Dead problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

At the time I first tried out the vehicle & prior to purchase the battery was dead & it had to be "jump" started. I requested that a new battery be installed prior to delivery. I took delivery & about a week later went on vacation, did not take Jeep. It was not driven for about 3 weeks. When I tried to start it the Jeep would not start, as if the battery was dead. I jumped it & continued to drive it, every day for several weeks. After a few weeks, I let the vehicle sit for a day without starting and when I tried it would not start. 8/19/13 took Jeep to the dealer to get problem with electrical system fixed. They tightened the negative battery terminal & reprogrammed one of the computers. 9/2/13 Jeep would not start, had to jump it. Did not run it or try to start it yesterday. 9/30/13 Jeep would not start & when I jumped it the uconnect system would not work. . Took it to dealer. They think the radio is drawing current from battery. They replaced radio. 10/21/13. Jeep would not start after setting two days. Took it back to jasper Jeep. They are going to try putting a new battery in it under the assumption that the problem may be a battery post. Service manager checked the records and could not find where a new battery had been installed prior to purchase. 12/30/13 9:15am tried to start Jeep, it would not start. Got clicking sound like low battery, interior dash lights were on. There was a new dash warning light on, it is a red lighting bolt. 9:38am. Started it & after it was connected to "start car" for a minute it started. Let it run for a couple minutes shut it off & it started ok. Red lighting bolt not on. Found service bulletin issued by Chrysler, sept 2013. Bulletin number: sb-08-067-NHTSA item number - 10053694 10:30 am called about the service bulletin. The serv. Mgr. Will review & call me back.

4 Battery Dead problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/20/2011

I purchased my Jeep Wrangler rubicon sahara in July 2005. Over the years, the biggest problems I had were the infamous shaking of the car at speeds over about 55mph and the constant need to jump the car and buy new batteries. The latter problem seemed like something I could live with but over time it became worse and you could no longer rely on the car to start. Jeep has always been very cavalier about these problems, but they are real. My car now has only about 17,000 miles on it because of the reliability problem. In January 2011 there was an electrical explosion and smoke in the car. It was towed to lithia Jeep in santa fe nm (where I originally bought it). They couldn't really figure out the problem, but charged me for some rewiring and sent it back to me. Within days, the battery was dead again, so I bought a new battery. Within days, that battery was dead and the car was again towed to Jeep. This time, I filed a formal complaint with Chrysler, who accepted the case. The dealer fiddled around with the car without success for a month, before Chrysler agreed to accept most of the charges for a comprehensive rewiring of the car. The dealer also informed me at the time that it was unable to do the recall work on the car's transmission, because the bolts securing the transmission had been stripped at the factory. This seemed odd to me, that a dealer was telling me it couldn't do the recall work on a dangerous condition, so I just had to live with it. In March the dealer commenced the intensive rewiring work, and by April, the dealer said that the problem had not yet been resolved, so it would need additional funds from Chrysler. This carried on into may, and I still did not have the car. Finally, in late may, the dealer called and said they "thought the car might be fixed" but weren't sure, because the computer was still identifying an unknown drain on the battery with potential electrical short implications. No more progress. About $3500 expended.

5 Battery Dead problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/12/2010

The security alarm system and the ignition are tied together in the remote. If the battery in the remote goes dead (how do we know it is the battery and not something in the car), then I can gain access using the key. However, I can't start the car because the alarm is still set and activated (very loud). I can't disarm the security system with the ignition locked out because the battery is dead in the remote. My inquiry to Jeep customer service resulted in a suggestion to see if the dealer could help. I consider this to be unsafe as there is no information on how to override the linking of the two systems in an emergency situation. Help!.

6 Battery Dead problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/24/2003

While traveling on the highway without prior warning the vehicle shut down. The gauges malfunctioned (gas read empty), the vehicle jerked uncontrollably. Different mechanics were unable to duplicate the problem. The transmission leaked (there was pink fluid in the battery area), the belt pulley had fallen off and the vehicle overheated, and the battery failed.
