36 Body problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/20/2023

Paint is bubbling a peeling on all doors next to the hinges. This is due to the fact that Jeep recently started using aluminum doors, which prematurely corrode around the steel hinges. Jeep has offered to repaint the areas where the paint has peeled off, which is obviously just a temporary fix. While this may seem like a cosmetic problem, it is indeed a major safety hazard as corroded door hinges significantly compromises the overall structural integrity of the vehicle.

37 Body problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/23/2023

Issue 1--open recall since 2/23/2023 with no remedy available (over 5 months) from manufacturer: in some circumstances, the clutch pressure plate may become overheated through friction, which may lead the pressure plate to rapidly fracture. When a pressure plate fractures, it may result in cracks or holes in the transmission case, allowing heated debris to be expelled from the transmission case. Safety risk heated debris expelled from the transmission bellhousing may come in contact with an ignition source in the vehicle or surrounding area, potentially leading to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. Issue 2--technical service bulletin (TSB 31-002020) dated 10/27/2020 related to rust. This issue was reported to my dealer may 2023 and over 60 days later, the burden is on me to take to a body shop for an estimate to be covered under warranty. Said body shop has had claims open on same issue >120 days with no parts available and no date of parts available. Due to this cosmetic issue on the vehicle, I am unable to trade it in to a dealership for a new car without receiving a lower trade in value. I am now stuck driving a vehicle with cosmetic issues, as I do not want to lose thousands on trade in due to a cosmetic issue that is of no fault of my own.

39 Body problem of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/08/2023

The frame has been compromised due to rust. The frame rusted from the inside out because the frame was not properly engineered from the factory. There are no weep holes at the lowest point on the frame. This causes water to sit in the frame and rust from the inside out. The rust appears without warning. This is an extremely dangerous because the frame can break without warning and cause loss of control. My vehicle is available to be inspected upon request.

40 Body problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/08/2023

Beginning in January 2023 with approximately 20,000 miles our leased 2021 Jeep Wrangler began to shake uncontrollably while driving on the highway at speeds over 60 mph. The shaking was so significant that while trying to safely guide the car off the highway my husband was shaken into the guardrail causing damage to the right front bumper. We are horrified that Jeep has had this problem for so long and there's no public notification of the problem.

41 Body problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/05/2023

The muffler heat shield has become detached from all 4 fasteners and drops onto the top of the muffler. When starting the engine could hear a loud metal banging noise from the rear of the vehicle. Where the heat shield attaches to the body on 4 studs and is held in place by 4 zinc plated pal nuts, around the pal nuts the heat shield corrodes and separates from the zinc pal nuts allowing the heat shield to fall onto the muffler. On the Jeep Wrangler forums this is a widely discussed topic happening to many Jeep Wrangler owners from about the 2007 model year to about the 2015 model year. Some have just removed the heat shield by themselves and other have reportedly taken the Jeep Wrangler to Jeep or Chrysler dealerships where they have removed the heat shield. Is there a safety risk?? not sure, but the manufacture installed the heat shield for a reason. This component, if there for a safety reason, should last almost the life of the vehicle. Only have 48k on the odometer.

42 Body problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/02/2023

On January 2, 2023, at about 4:00 pm I encountered the ‘death wobble’ while driving in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler (2-door) VIN: 1c4gjxan0lw228922, purchased from dave smith motors, kellogg, id on about 7/17/2020. I was driving north on I-15 about 10 miles south of nephi, ut. I was traveling in the left lane at freeway speeds (75-80 mph) when the front of the vehicle commenced to shake violently. My first thought was that both front tires had blown, although I did not observe any obstacles on the wet driving lanes. My second thought was, how do I get out of these mess without causing a major accident on that very busy stretch of freeway holiday traffic? I, of course, braked and pulled to the left in an attempt to avoid getting rear-ended and immediately encountered snow and ice on the left shoulder and then on the ground adjacent to the freeway. I managed to get off the freeway, but continued to fishtail, almost losing control on the snow and ice. Eventually the vehicle ended up in a sideways slide perpendicular to the freeway with the front of the vehicle aimed at the freeway and heavy traffic! at that point I had no control over the vehicle as it continued to slide sideways headed for a huge drainage ditch. Luckily, we stopped before the precipice. I scrambled out of the vehicle as soon as it stopped sliding to see what had happened to the front end of the Jeep. There was no obvious damage, the tires were not flat, and I couldn’t figure out what had happened. I have now received a notice of proposed class settlemnt, that upon further research informs me that 2020 Jeep Wranglers have a manufacture defect that causes the ‘death wobble’ in precisely the conditions that existed with me. “…2020 Jeep Wranglers …have a front suspension steering damper defect that causes the steering wheel and front suspension of the vehicle to shake after contact with a bumpy road surface at highway speed. ” I was not aware of the manufacturer's defect. The Jeep is unsafe!!.

43 Body problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

Bubble paint appeared on all the car doors including the truck door as well as the engine door and the windshield frame driver corner. I went to south bank dealer in ottawa and the took pictures many time and they say approved and never call. And then they say they will fix the spots only which is so weird to fix rusted bubbled paint in a new car. They should change all the doors as the metal is already damaged by rust. These cars are expensive and quality and guarantees should be provided for such vehicles. The factory should recall my car for full repaint or change color if needed on new doors and the whole car. You can go on google and just type bubble paint on Jeep and you will see these cars are treated in the market. The company treated this car like garbage because of the paint reputation on a famous american car. I first reported to the dealer on November 2022 and then Jan or Feb 2023 ( don’t remember) my phone number is 1613-262-6661.

44 Body problem of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/15/2022

The frame on the Jeep tj is prone to rot. Mine is so rusted that body shops refuse to repair it, claiming their insurance won't cover them. My Jeep has 123,233 miles and is otherwise in very good condition, but the frame has rust severe enough to make driving the vehicle unsafe. The Jeep forum on the internet is full of similar stories, so Chrysler has known about this problem for many years. You should make them recall the Jeeps and repair or replace the frame. A few years ago Toyota did a similar recall on their small pickup trucks.

Failure Date: 11/28/2022

The secondary hood latch failed, and was not securing the hood. In the event of a primary hood latch failure, the hood could release and strike the windshield while driving, obscuring vision and potentially causing bodily harm. My research indicates that this is not an isolated incident.

47 Body problem of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/15/2022

Systems that failed, my defroster only blows straight up about the width of the rear view mirror. Causing my windshield to fog or ice and I not be able to see. Dealer will not look at it until the 14th of Dec. They are unwilling to provide a safe loaner in the meantime. No warning lamps my frame undercoating is already coming off making me very concerned about rust down the road the welds on my frame have porosity in a fair amount of welds. This worries me if I would ever be in a collision that the frame would not hold up. Also, longterm I'm worried about the porous welds harboring salty water and rusting out the welds. Causing the strength of the weld to be weakened. Not to mention a porous weld in general is a weak weld.

Military member stationed overseas. Purchased vehicle through military auto source. Dealer has to take Wrangler into local Jeep dealer. Dealer heard banging on right side of wheel. When local Jeep dealer completed inspection they noted the chassiss weld completely missing. This is a huge safety issue. This car has not even been driven 100 miles yet. I would like someone to look into this issue. My Wrangler can’t possibly be the only one in this situation.

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Wrangler jl sport s 4 door in may of 2021. During the summer, while riding down the road, I had my soft top convertible top back. Upon closing the top when reaching home, the cover had become detached from tent assembly. I am just wondering if this was a apart of the safety recall for 2018 Jeep Wranglers, and if it was, how can I tell if this problem that was addressed with the vehicle I own now and fixed. I have had to buy a replacement top which is being installed on 9-19-2022. The cost is $1764. 22, which I will not have an invoice for until they have completed the install.

55 Body problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/03/2022

56 Body problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/29/2021

Frame welds failed, causing the lower control arm to completely detach from vehicle while driving on highway. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. Yes, my safety was put at risk. Dealer refused to acknowledge problem, did not wish to see photos or video. The repair was completed elsewhere. December 29th - while driving on the highway I hear a loud bang and pull over. Turns out my front lower control arm mount completely breaks off my frame (see attached photos). I call my dealership (zappone cdjr in clifton park NY), they can’t get me in for a few weeks due to their availability. I get a major favor and get an extremely reputable, nationally known, off-road manufacture to fix it for me. While I am there, they tell me - take it in to the dealership, a lot of your welds need to be looked at. Apparently someone attempted to touch up some of the welds by hand, but didn’t do a great job. I purchased this jlur brand new, actually ordered it from factory so no outside work was done on it. Feb 21st - finally get it in to the dealership, explain to them the situation and without even looking at it, I already get hit with the “well hopefully your lift didn’t cause it” by the service advisor (jeff coon). I even reference the TSB out about welds and get told “well tsbs aren’t covered under warranty its an out of pocket expense”. So I call the support center and get told the same thing frame is not covered under my extended warranty, and my standard warranty is out. Ultimately I get told “inspected frame from star cases and damage to frame is not a known issue and is caused by off reading abuse and aftermarket lift kit and would put pressure on welds. Technician found would not be considered factory warranty due to aftermarket lift kit installed.

Within a week with no wear or tear -14000 miles; all hinges on all doors as well as the door panels are corroding from the inside out. Huge safety issue- all Wrangler forums are reporting this as well. A paint and bondo job are not the answer! the safety prospect would be new doors and hinges - which are a must. 63 Body problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/25/2021

I purchased the Jeep Wrangler as the first owner in 2018. I immediately felt inconsistencies with the steering. The steering felt loose. At the time I expressed my concern to the dealership that I purchased the Jeep from, I was told that there was a recall on my Jeep for the death wobble and that it was likely the result of that. The recall work was completed within the first 12 months of purchase. The recall repair did not resolve the issue. The steering continued to feel loose and as time went on became more evident. When driving on the expressway onto an exit at 40-50mph I followed the slight curve and the steering felt unstable and wandered. The best way to describe what occurred would be that it felt like the frame was falling off the wheels. This continued more frequently and last week became unmanageable. While driving 70mph down the expressway, I was unable to maintain control of the vehicle. It felt like I was driving a boat on water. I felt confident that the frame of the Jeep was leaving the wheels. At this time I noticed that the gears were slipping as well. I made an appointment to have my transmission examined. The earliest available appointment is 6 days out, so I decided to sneak under the Jeep to see if there was a transmission leak. What I observed was shocking to find on a 2018 vehicle and considerably overwhelming. My degree is criminal science, so far from having any automative/engineering experience and knowledge, but contextual clues are evidentiary clear to me. The feeling of the frame being displaced from the body of the vehicle is a probable result. I have a deep concern with the current condition of the welding of the frame and the condition of the underbody.

64 Body problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/03/2021

Lowered the windshield per the user manual for the first time on 4/3/21. 2 of the 4 bolts holding the windshield to the frame were present but not tightened. Was driving on the freeway with my wife and five yr old son when we heard a loud pop underneath our 2018 Jeep Wrangler and instantly saw a trail of smoke behind us. We immediately pulled over to find transmission guild gushing from underneath with tons of smoke as well. We were hoping the smoke was probably just from fluid on the manifold but we small flashes of fire starting at the transmission and clutch area.
