Oil leak from the oil filter housing case. Jeep was stationary and noticed an oil leak under vehicle. Part is on backorder. Jeep switched from using metal housing to plastic which cracks with colder weather.
Engine oil cooler. Cracks causing massive engine oil leaks. My Jeep was parked in the garage. I noticed the oil on the floor. I followed it up both sides of the engine to the cooler. I have not changed the oil in months. It was below zero here for 3 days in north texas. The cooler is made from plastic. It gets hot then cold then hot again and it cracks. This is a serious issue and is a massive issue as well. Jeep/Chrysler knows this, how do I know? because they have no more parts, they ran out for real gone no coolers. Nhtsa was made for this. Every Jeep has this issue! my Jeep is at autonation in keller texas waiting for parts they tell me it could be months!!! I noticed the oil on the 1st of March the Jeep had been parked since Feb. 20th no history of any leaks. Jeep has 66000miles on it 1 owner me.

I noticed oil leaking from my Jeep, found significant amount of oil under Jeep. Immediately brought to my mechanic for review. They indicated that the oil cooler was leaking a good amount of oil and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately there are over 50,000 oil coolers on a 2 month backorder! my mechanic said it is a known problem for all 2014 v6 engines. Jeep forum additionally has thousands of comments regarding this same issue.
My vehicle hasn't been driven much, I work from home, I noticed a pool of oil under it, took to dealership and he oil cooler is leaking.
Notice oil leaks in my driveway and had it checked by mechanic. Found out it was the oil filter housing/oil cooler and that it is a common problem with 3. 6 motor also, found out the part is on back order due to a lot of customers having same issue.
My oil filter housing has a leak and no one can get the part. Apparently this is happening to a lot of people as the part is in high demand. Jeep should issue a recall.
Jeep 2014 and older are issued a part called the oil cooler/filter housing which is prone to leaking oil on all Chrysler engineers using this part. This is defective and or a design flaw resulting in replacement and costly repair and is a reoccurring failure on all chryslers using this part. This failed on my Jeep Wrangler with 48k miles. The part is approximately $300 to replace and over all repair at a non dealership is upwards of $1000. 00. This issue needs to be a recall!.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The contact noticed that the oil filter housing was leaking. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the oil filter housing fractured and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired since the part was on a national back order. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
Oil cool is leaking after cold weather.
I noticed a large puddle of oil when moving vehicle from parked position. There was no indicator on vehicle that it was low on oil. When checking the oil level in the vehicle, there was none showing on the dip stick. All oil had leaked out of vehicle. We had the vehicle taken to a local dealership. We were told that this is a common problem with this year/make/model. It was the oil filter housing defective releasing all oil from vehicle. This part is on national back order and not expected to be available for 45 or more days. This tells me that it is a problem with the manufacturing of the vehicle. What if I had not noticed the oil that had leaked out and my the engine lock up while driving on a busy highway.
Oil cooler leak. I lost over 2 quarts of oil after a short drive. The seals were also leaking into the injectors causing multiple cylinder misfire codes and check engine light warnings. No warnings from the oil cooler except the large puddle of oil under the Wrangler and oil coating the entire back of the engine and skid plate.
Engine oil cooler is out and leaking oil everywhere. The vehicle is not driveable and the part is on over a 45 day back order. No company will ever take my vehicle in due to the part unable to be ordered. Everyone seems to be having the same issue. My Jeep has 62k miles on it and is my daily driver. This needs to be recalled.
Oil filter cooler adapter failed at 55k miles. Jeep leaked quart of oil on ground and another quart in intake. If Jeep was run another 30 min the engine would have destroyed itself due to lack of oil. Could have aslo caused fire if oil got on hot exahust. Very common problem w penstar 3. 6. No parts available in USA as of 03-01-2021 mfr. Refuses to warranty. Claims oil filter was too tight, which was not.
Oil cooler broke and started leaking after the cold temperature in oklahoma on 2/14/21.
The oil filter housing is made of plastics and it cracks and oil leaks on to exhaust which could cause a fire and also environmental issuer due to oil leaking on ground. This is a big problem with the Jeep pentastar 3. 6 v6 engine. After contacting Jeep dealers to fix leak they tell me the part is on back order due to so many Jeep and cars that have this part. The number they gave me is over 40,000 and time frame of getting one could be a month. This explains why Jeep drop power train warranty from 100,000 miles to 60,000. I noticed a little leak at 65,000 mile and now at 70,000 miles you have to keep adding oil or park it due to maybe it catching on fire. One dealer told me he had 30 vehicle sitting on lot waiting on part. I feel Jeep should have a re-call for this issuer. Now I have a Jeep that I can't use for a month or more if lucky.
The oil cooler failing, leaking. I have just discovered that my oil cooler is leaking from a puddle on the ground and my lower engine full of oil. I got no warning light. If there had not been a noticable puddle I would have never noticed it. If not my motor would have locked up and would need to be replaced. I checked my oil level and no oil is on the dipstick. I have done research and found that this is a very big problem in the Jeep community. I strongly feel that this should be recalled and repaired. If it was a here and there incident, it would b different. But it's a very big problem. In the photo look to the left of the oil filter housing. It's a puddle of oil. The price of oil is not cheap. Neither is the time consuming and cost of the repair. Please add this to the recalls for this vehicle.
The oil filter canister/oil cooler is cracked and is leaking oil. This is an environmental hazard. We have taken it to our mechanic and spoke with the dealership that it was bought from and have been told by many other part houses that this replacement part is on a 50,000 + parts back order and that it can take anywhere from 20-60 days to get the part in to replace it. The vehicle was stationary when we noticed the leak and never driven again after that. This tells me that this is a huge issue and that there should be a recall on this issue. I understand the manufacturing side of things but that is a large number for the back order.
Noticed oil leak smell, took to mechanic and diagnosis shows the oil housing unit, plastic cover on the cooler is cracked and leaking. Vehicle is not driven off road and is completely stock.
Oil filter/cooler housing developed a leak. Was told by mechanic that it is most likely cracked. Replacement part is on indefinite back order, at least 45 days. Leak is bad enough that I can not safely drive the vehicle. It has been sitting in the garage for 4 weeks.
I was driving my keep and started smelling oil and had smoke coming from under my car. I notice on my garage floor large oil leak. I picked up my disabled son and noticed it had gotten worse. I was forced to stop by my mechanic and was told my oil cooler adaptor housing was broken and leaking badly. I had purchased a mopar protection plan directly from company. When I called Jeep dealership they said I would have to bring it and let them diagnose it before they could decide if it was covered by my mopar care plan. My mechanic informed me that this was a common problem with this Jeep engine but they had not done recall yet. I call mopar and they would not authorized payment to my mechanic unless he call for authorization number. He called and they said no. This part needs to be handled by a recall if it's that bad. I was reading complaints on another site and they said it could lead to a fire starting because of oil leaking onto exhaust.
Oil leak coming from the oil housing unit, plastic cover on the oil cooler was cracked and the leak shows symptoms of a rear main seal leaking when in fact it is not. Vehicle was driven under normal conditions. Completely stock at this time.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was not cooling off properly. The contact noticed a leak underneath the vehicle near the bell housing and transmission. The contact stated that the vehicle seemed as if it was going to overheat. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle had cracked oil assembly. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,932.
2014 Jeep jk Wrangler. Oil filter housing crack. Oil leaking everywhere under the vehicle. Vehicle is smoking. This can cause a fire hazard. Looks like for years this has been reported and nothing has been done. This fix is almost 1000. 00 dollars. This is absolutely ridiculous that you have so many complaints and this is a know issue that the company is not willing to fix this. I will be contacting an attorney if this is not resolved by the manufacturer.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the oil filter housing was cracked, causing oil to leak from the vehicle, without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure and informed him that the replacement part was on backorder. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and informed him that the part would not be available for another two to three months. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
Oil leaking off top of engine. Cracked plastic part caused oil to leak out on engine and exhaust creating a burning smell and my mechanic said it is a fire hazard. Found many others with same issue from Jeep and Chrysler products.
Oil leaking from engine. Mechanic said could be dangerous as it was getting on the exhaust and could start a fire. Doing research on this website, found out it is a common problem with a plastic part on top of the engines used by Jeep and Chrysler. This should be recalled.
Oil filter housing leaking quarts of oil. This is a fire hazard because of where it is located. I have seen 1000,s of complaints regarding this. This morning I started my car to warm up and there was a pool of oil underneath of it. My oil leak started about 2 weeks ago, started small and now it is dumping oil.
Oil housing cooler cracked, leaking oil pooling all down into undercarriage. Potential fire hazard.
