Failure Date: 03/18/2021

Started out with oil in the air filter, had the pvc valve and cam shaft replaced. Still got oil so an oil catch can was installed, then check engine light came on (air flow filter). This was causing my engine to not be able to accelerate beyond 70 mph. They changed the sensor, but again, was unable to go over 70, and on an incline would drop down to 60 and could go no faster (no engine light this time). Next day got it up to 78, engine light came on, and again could not accelerate beyond 75.

I had the check engine light come on and it was reading a p0302 code. This code is associated with the "pentastar tick". Less than 200 miles on car check engine light starts blinking car also shaking took it to dealer they replaced a spark plug the next day same thing they then replaced all the spark plugs and told me 2021 Wranglers would have a recall on this but I don't notice same problem anywhere.

9 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The check engine light came on and it decodes to a cylinder misfire. I took it to the dealer and they said the cylinder had low compression. It is out of warranty and they want to charge me well over $2000 to fix it. I am reporting this because I found out this is a common problem in these engines, so much so that Chrysler issued a TSB on it, however the TSB only covers up to 2013 and mine is a 2014. Apparently they thought they fixed it, but perhaps they didn't get it quite right, or didn't cover enough years. See Chrysler Jeep TSB 09-002-14 for reference. Please note while this issue did not cause an immediate safety concern, my research indicates that not fixing it promptly will cause un-burnt fuel to pass through the engine which is likely to cause catalytic converter failure. Due to the extreme expense to fix this known issue, people will be unwilling or unable to pay to get it fixed right away, and that in turn could lead to various safety risks, not to mention pollution controls issues.

10 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

Check engine light came on, with a p0302 #2 cylinder misfire reading. After replacing consumable parts (spark plugs, engine coil) reset engine light, the code p0302 returned after 15-20 miles driving. This issue is a well know problem with the 3. 6l engine, and requires internal engine repair (lifters, rocker, and/or cylinder head replacement). An open service bulletin exists, but several jk vehicles with the similar issue cause parts backorder. If continue driving with this issue happens, more serious damage will result to the vehicle. As other complaints indicated, this situation should be classed as a recall.

11 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/13/2019

Check engine light illuminated, resulting in p0302 #2 cylinder misfire. After replacing consumable parts (spark plug, engine coil) reset engine light. Code returned after 20 miles driving. Dealer technicians indicate issue is #2 cylinder head needs replacement. Open service bulletin exists, however condition has affected enough Jeep jku vehicles to result in part backorder. This presents an unsatisfactory condition as part may take weeks to months to obtain. No solution on temporary transportation available/ offered as result. Dealer indicates driving vehicle likely to worsen condition, and advises to keep until parts available. This situation should be classed as a recall and alternate transportation options available, especially in the southern California region.

17 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/21/2018

Drove 1018 miles Jeep was running fine. Stopped at a hotel to check in. When I went back out to start it, the check engine light came on and stayed on and was a solid light (no blinking). Drove it thanksgiving day and took it to a dealer on Friday with the code p0304. Mechanic tells me that it needs a new cylinder head and is not safe to drive back home 1018 miles. I learned later that this is a known issue and Jeep issued a lifetime warranty covering up to 2013. After much research and reading, the issue still continues through the 2016 models. I called Jeep to ask for some assistance since I am 1018 miles from home and having to stay in a hotel for 10 days with no loaner or rental car and the repairs are estimated at $4850 (the cost at home in texas would have been $2600) and Chrysler said no! this is a known issue and continues to he a known issue. Chrysler Jeep should be fixing the problem or extending the lifetime warranty for this issue.

18 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

While driving my 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited recently, all of a sudden my check engine light comes on & shortly after my abs & traction control lights go on as well. I've had the car checked twice & no one can seem to give me an answer on what the problem is. They've went off since but came back on a day later. It's beyond frustrating especially when I see so many people with similar problems yet no recalls? for the cost of these cars, I can't understand why there's so many with issues. Also while I'm at it I should note that my heating & defrost completely stopped working. I live in upstate NY & my mileage is currently 109k.

19 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/30/2018

At about 30,000 miles while on a highway my Jeep suddenly smelled like it was burning and I lost acceleration on it. Took it to my life time mechanic and he told me that there was oil sludge everywhere on the engine. He changed the oil out, cleaned out the engine but didn't find any issues with the oil tank or hoses. A year later, now at 40,000 miles, my check engine light suddenly comes on. Mechanic reads a "misfire" error. He changes out all my spark plugs, the ignition coil and the plenum gasket. Cleans out the fuel injectors and the car is humming beautifully again. But 5 days later, again the check engine light comes on. Mechanic checks everything he did and can't find anything wrong. He researched and thinks it could be the exhaust valve seats being worn out. Recommends I take it to the dealership. Low and behold, they discover that a cylinder head needs to be completely replaced! apparently an issue they keep encountering frequently in this model. I've seen it posted on a bunch of threads regarding Jeeps. Thank goodness I was 4 days away from my 5 year warranty to expire when this happened!!!! I think there should be a recall on all the 2014 Jeeps to make sure this issue is resolved once and for all. My VIN did not show a recall per your system, but all 2014 Jeeps should be checked since it's occurring so frequently, and people will be out of their warranty soon with that year's model.

20 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/24/2018

My vehicle has been broken into more than 5 times in the past 6 months and I have all these people following me around on every location I am while serving my mail route. . . I spent over 2500 on sensors and wiring but my vehicle continues to flash check engine lights and chimes constantly while driving down the road. I am very concerned the computer system has been compromised several different occasions and I have went too 2 different Jeep dealerships and both are pulling different codes on the exact same day. The codes were reset I drove 25 miles to the next dealership when all sorts of lights started flashing and the engine lost power. I got to the next dealership that pulled codes and said nothing was happening. I even had a person contact me from one of the dealerships telling me to come in for a service part that I had not confirmed to be ordered . My fear for my safety is of high concern if someone is deliberately trying to sabotage my vehicle.

21 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

My Jeep Wrangler is stalling and once I get it restarted the transmission will jerk when shifting. I have taken it to my local Jeep dealer and they were not able to locate the problem. When this happens the check engine light is not coming on so they can't diagnose it. This typically happens when in reverse or when coming to a stop in drive. This has happened several times in traffic. I am afraid this will cause an accident. The reason I took it to the dealership, I was in traffic at a stoplight and it stalled on me 5 times before I could get it to keep running. This has also happened when sitting still and idoling. I love my Jeep and have wanted one since I was a kid. I was very disappointed that the dealership was not able to fix the problem. I found online where 2017-18 models were having this same issue. My Wrangler is a 2013 sport unlimited. I think you should consider looking into expanding this recall to include older years. I am asking for your help to fix this issue in my Jeep. Please advise my local dealership of how to find and fix the issue. Please help before an accident is caused by this problem.

Driving down interstate, check engine soon light, and traction control light come on, vehicle loses power, decelerates on its own. Cruise control stops working. Have to almost floor gas pedal to keep power going to vehicle. Vehicle then randomly has small burst of acceleration on its own. Occured while driving down I-10. Occurs randomly while driving, without warning. Almost caused a major accident between myself and a semi, while my kids were in the vehicle.

24 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Check engine illuminated in mid-2017, but no codes were present and Jeep appeared to run fine. In sept 2017, while driving on I-75, the Jeep shuddered and the electronic throttle control light came on, along with the anti-lock brake system light. I took it to the Jeep dealership immediately, but they couldn't figure out the problem because the lights had turned off. They ended up swapping out the spark plugs and two ignition coils. The check engine light came back on a few days later. I was able to pull codes for the throttle position system 1 and 2. In oct 2017, the vehicle jumped/shuddered and stopped running. I had to coast to the shoulder and leave it sit for 10 minutes. I was able to restart the vehicle and drive it a local repair shop where they were unable to pull any codes and based off of my description of the issues, replaced the pedal assembly and cleared the codes. They said if the issue came back to replace the battery. The issue came back within 5 minutes of leaving the automotive garage, so I changed the battery in November. After that, the check engine light when away, but would come back on sporadically. The Jeep was still shuddering/jumping and would then completely stop after the check engine light, the electronic throttle control, and the anti-lock brake system notification, still. I just took it to another garage (aril 2018), since the previous two had no idea what the issue was. At this point I was still pulling throttle position 1 and 2 codes. This garage replaced the entire throttle body and ran a fuel injection service. Within 15 minutes of me driving away from that garage, the check engine light came on, followed by a softer shudder of the vehicle and the electronic throttle control light. I tried to pull codes when I got home, but there were none--but the check engine light and the electronic throttle control light are still on.

25 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/12/2018

Oil pressure switch has gone out. My Jeep has less than 50,000 miles on it. The oil pressure is fine and yet I need to replace this $45 switch which will I'm being told will take 4 hours by the dealership to replace. This came on after my last oil change. Discovered the issue when my check engine light came on with a code 520. Parts manager stated this happens frequently and on cars with less tha. 10,000 miles.

26 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/15/2018

As I research what is wrong with my Jeep it has been a happening for quite a bit of people. Nobody has been able to find a solution for this issue, what has been happening is when driving my 2013 Jeep Wrangler at all my check engine light comes on and I instantly lose power plus my abs and traction control lights turn on and I end up going into limp mode. It mostly happening on the freeway and going up hills, but has also been happening even when it is in park. My Jeep has been in the shop with a trusted mechanic for 3 months and he has not been able to find the issue either. All of the research I have done tons of people has been having this issue but seems as though no one can find the cause of the problem either. . . I'm unsure of what to do now.

27 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/14/2018

I bought this 2013 Jeep not even two years ago and I've sank over 8,000 dollars in repair into it. Their should be a ton of recalls on these Jeeps around the same year. I'm a mail carrier and my first route was all paved roads. This had nothing to do with delivering the mail. These Jeeps are junk and Jeep won't take initiative for it. The traction control and check engine light stay on. Every time it's been fixed it's been cam shafts, rocker arms, cam shaft sensors, steering sensor, clock spring, and wiring harness. It shouldn't have to be fixed that many fines and continue to happen. These Jeeps should be able to withstand more being made for postal vehicles. Every carrier or person I know with one has the same exact issue. When those lights come on the Jeep literally loses all power, it still runs but ticks and sounds like it is about to blow up. The vehicle does it while sitting and driving. It's got a constant tick too. It's been to surrounding dealerships and I get told the same thing. I pay 500 dollars a month for a piece of crap. Jeep needs to take responsibility for this. Their are law suits against them, and I have no doubt the customers will win. Something needs to be done. This is America, we work our butts off to pay for something Jeep is responsible for, its not right.

28 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/21/2017

2012 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited. Chrysler group llc is betting on the fact that each and every person filling out this NHTSA form clicks the 'no one died & no one got hurt' button so a recall will never be issued! that is their fix! approximately twice a month years 2016 to present, while driving on city streets or highways at any speed, Jeep has lost speed quickly and has concurrently lost the ability to accelerate. It feels as if the engine is bogging down. Simultaneously the check engine light will illuminate. Have to immediately pull off the road each time. The Jeep has never turned off nor stalled. The problem has always fixed itself after a few moments on the side of the road. Each and every time, the check engine light turns off by itself. I have taken the Jeep in for service to my long time trusted mechanic. The mechanic could not replicate nor find a code. Because of the risk of fire that I read about plaguing these Jeep models, I feel very afraid to drive my Jeep anywhere let alone go off into the wilderness offroading. I have read hundreds of similar stories on sites such as this. I cannot believe nothing, not one thing has been done about it. Shame on Chrysler for turning a blind eye but will take your money to diagnose the problem for days and months knowing what the exact issue is. Again, Chrysler is betting on the fact everyone of us will click the NHTSA boxes that say no one was injured and no one died. That way, no recall will ever be issued. Chrysler group llc hopes you are out of warranty, if not, they will push until you run out. Then they blame rodents chewing on wires etc. . . Ludicrous.

29 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/25/2017

Check engine light and hill assist always lit. Dealer constantly resetting and I was repeatedly told not to worry as it is probably "bad gasoline. " now, no acceleration and is more pronounced when on an incline ie highway entrance ramp. Presently, one week into diagnostics and repairs with present diagnosis being "probably" cam shaft phasers. Important to note engine repairs previously done one month of ownership on brand new vehicle. In addition, engine light has been on while in warranty but told not to worry. Now, almost complete engine rebuild. Jeep will not assist even though engine light has been on and reported to dealer (and documented) while in warranty. Vehicle purchased brand new, never used "four wheeling" or utilized to tow. Mileage reflects ~ highway travel. Religiously maintained through dealership.

32 Check Engine Light On problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/05/2016

My check engine light illuminated and the engine was running rough, possible loss of power. Per Jeep / Chrysler / Dodge / ram / mopar technical service bulletin 18-034-14 rev. A and TSB-18-034-14 on some model vehicles and Jeeps, (my 2013-2014) the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illuminates and diagnostic trouble code (dtc) p0520 is set regarding engine oil pressure sensor circuit. The TSB outlines replacing the oil pressure sensor with a "revised" part. Chrysler installed defective sensors on many 2013-2014 3. 6l engines and will only replace them if they fail while under warranty. If the oil pressure sensor is malfunctioning, it may not alert you to an issue with oil pressure. This can cause engine failure and potential to cause an accident due to engine failure / loss of power.
