Yesterday evening we were driving and the orange check engine light came on. Followed by a red battery light, the red turtle and an exclamation point with a car and a speedometer symbol. It would not let me switch to electric e-save and kept me in hybrid mode. Regenerative braking would not work either. Once safely parked it was making a loud high pitched whining noise. It would also drop rpms while idling and then they would rev up quickly. Once the tow truck arrived he tried to drive it up on the flat bed but it had no power to make it up the ramp and had to be pulled with the tow cable up the ramp. Another thing I have noticed as of the last 68c update is that when in electric mode and merging onto a freeway for example, it gets really sluggish at about 65mph and the gas engine won't kick in like it used to before the update. It doesn't go above 65 and slows down to about 62 even if my foot is pedal to the floor before ice kicks in. Makes it pretty dangerous to be merging with traffic going 70+.

Started car and check engine light was on. Started to drive it and the battery and other lights came on. Engine sounded funny and electric motor was not available. As I was trying I needed to pull off because it was not moving smoothly and was jerky. I pulled over into a parking lot and put in park and the lights indicated it was in charging mode. After repeated attempts to turn the vehicle completely off I was able to. When I was able to finally turn it back on it the engine was very loud. While driving the car would accelerate when I did not have my foot on the brake and was getting warm inside the cabin. At random times the battery light and a red turtle would appear saying the speed was being limited. This happened repeatedly. The following day on the way to try to bring it to the dealership to fix it the speed was increasing while on flat ground unless I had foot on break and then the red turtle would come back on. I determined it was unsafe to drive and requested a tow to the dealership.
Jeep engine stopped running while driving on high way 20. Had to coast to stop in middle of side street. Jeep did start back up but would not go into drive until an hour of trying to get it into gear. Drove it home. Next morning I started Jeep but would not go into drive. It was stuck in park.

My vehicle was purchased brand new and currently has only about 13,000 miles. Despite this, it is already being recommended for a full engine replacement. The dealership has diagnosed coolant seeping into cylinder 4, indicating a failing head gasket. I do not understand how this could be attributed to me, as the car is still very new and has never overheated. I first noticed the issue in April 2025, when I had to begin regularly adding coolant. I have kept receipts documenting all coolant purchases since that time. However, the dealership is refusing to cover the repair, claiming that I am at fault because I replaced the coolant expansion tank. The timeline clearly shows otherwise. The coolant loss began in April 2025, while the expansion tank was not replaced until July 2025—months after the issue had already started. While the expansion tank is part of the cooling system, it would not cause a head gasket failure. This situation has also created a safety concern for my family, as my wife and child are now afraid to drive the vehicle due to the risk of being stranded where most hawaii roads do not have safe shoulder to pull over on. According to the traffic safety of honolulu, there are numerous cases where people were killed for being on the side of the road. Given these facts, I am requesting that this matter be reevaluated and that the necessary repairs, including engine replacement if required, be covered under warranty.
Driving on the highway smoke came from under the hood in the right hand side forcing my family out on the highway keep ingulfed in flames and burnt to a crisp.

On April 17th 2024 my vehicle received a recall update 68c regarding the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle battery. Two days later, I was driving on a major freeway in southern California, noticed that the ev battery was not being depleted as it remained at 100%. Shortly thereafter, a check engine light came on, and the power was severely restricted. Within a few minutes, the vehicle completely lost power in the middle of the freeway and I was able to get over to the right shoulder. At this point, the vehicle had no power and I could not turn the vehicle off either regarding the electronics. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership in san diego, and by the time it was at the dealership, the vehicle was in full lockout mode and had zero battery power left and could not even lock the doors. This caused a significant safety hazard as I was with my [xxx] child and the vehicle just completely lost power on the freeway. The vehicle is now at the dealership and they are giving me a very hard time saying that there is nothing wrong with it, but I have read that there have been many problems with this recall update. The dealership told me that the problem was a bad 12 v battery and that I needed to pay to replace that and I argued with them that that was not the problem and they are not addressing the major issue with a complete power loss on the freeway after a required software update that has known problems. On March 19, 2026 I paid $5,778. 87 for repairs to my 2018 Wrangler jl. Repairs included the replacement of warped cylinder head and failed head gasket with coolant getting into the combustion chamber, showing up as rough running, misfire, flashing check engine light, and burning coolant smell. On April 18, 2026, at approximately 10:30 pm, after attending the [xxx] concert at bank of America stadium (+70,000 in attendance), the vehicle stalled and was unable to be restarted or moved to the shoulder of the highway. The vehicle failure occurred on i277 outside of bank of America stadium with hundreds of cars passing us as my wife and were stranded in the middle lane. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

While driving approximately 35 mph on a 4 lane major roadway, the vehicle suddenly shut off in motion, resulting in a complete loss of power. This included loss of power steering and the abs system. The vehicle effectively locked up, and a message appeared on the display instructing me to place the vehicle in park. As a result of the shutdown, the vehicle lost all propulsion and came to a complete stop in an active travel lane of a high-speed roadway. There was no ability to maneuver the vehicle out of traffic. I could not steer it to safety, restart it, or shift it into neutral. The vehicle was fully immobilized in the roadway. This left me and my family stopped in an active lane of traffic, exposed to oncoming vehicles traveling at highway speeds, creating an immediate and serious risk of collision. At the time of the incident, I had two children in the vehicle. We remained in this dangerous position until police arrived and an hour after. The vehicle ultimately had to be removed from the roadway with assistance, as it was not operable. During the event, there was a total loss of electrical power. The critical safety systems, including brake lights, were not functioning during the shutdown. After attempting to reset the battery, the vehicle continued to malfunction. It would not properly turn on or off, wouldn't shift into neutral and remained unable to be moved. This is the third occurrence of this; once was while driving at highway speeds. All warning lights, including the battery light, were illuminated. The vehicle is subject to an active recall; however, I have been informed that there is currently no available remedy . Despite this, the dealership and stellantis advised that the vehicle was safe to operate. Given the repeated loss of power while driving, the inability to move the vehicle out of an active roadway, and the absence of an available repair, this vehicle presents a serious safety risk and I should be able to turn this vehicle in with refund.
I was driving my 2019 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sahara 2. 0t/at to the gym with my spouse. No check engine light, Jeep temps were perfect. All gauges operated as it should, so there was no sign of trouble. The vehicle was off. We parked and walked into the gym and then into the 1 set of exercises, someone yelled in the gym that someone's truck was on fire. We ran outside and lo and behold it was our Jeep. The engine compartment was totally destroyed. Please look at the pictures for reference.
I was driving 70-75 mph on interstate xxx going south from [xxx] to [xxx] after picking up my friends. I had e-save mode on to save the battery for later and out of nowhere the car lost all power and would not accelerate. Some writing flashed across the screen telling me to pull over in the emergency lane and stop and then restart the Jeep in hybrid mode. I had to throw on my hazards and pray someone who wasn't paying attention didn't hit me while I was no longer accelerating and trying to change lanes to get into the emergency lane. One in the emergency lane I was able to shut off the Jeep and restart it but e-save mode was no longer available. I was able to resume driving but only in hybrid mode. On April 13, 2026, at approximately 67,312 miles, my vehicle experienced a fuel system failure when the main fuel supply line leading to the high-pressure fuel pump cracked and began actively leaking raw gasoline onto the top of the transmission in the engine compartment. There were no prior dashboard warning lights or error messages; the only symptom leading up to the failure was a extremely strong odor of raw gasoline coming from the engine bay area. I believed this fuel leak created an immediate, severe risk of an engine compartment fire. I immediately brought the vehicle to an authorized factory dealership, where certified technicians acting on behalf of the manufacturer inspected the system, confirmed the active leak emitting raw fuel odors, and successfully removed and replaced the failed supply line to resolve the issue. If needed, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Furthermore, my vehicle is factory-equipped with the 2. 0l turbo engine, meaning this failure is identical to the documented fire hazard covered under fca safety recall y10 (NHTSA campaign 21v-665). Even though my specific production sequence was not actively flagged under the manufacturer's recall lookup system, I believe the component failed in the exact same hazardous manner described in the official recall.

While braking at low speed approaching a stoplight, the vehicle did not slow as expected when I removed my foot from the accelerator. As I applied increasing brake pressure, the engine revved and the vehicle continued to move forward into the intersection. The brakes appeared to be working but had to counter engine power, and the tires briefly chirped. I shifted into neutral to stop the vehicle and then backed out of the intersection. If another vehicle had been stopped in front of me, a collision would likely have occurred. The vehicle was in fuel and oil refresh mode (form) with max regenerative braking enabled at the time of the incident. There were no warning lights or messages. I provided dashcam video to the dealer. The dealer was unable to duplicate the condition but reported that stored vehicle data showed abs activation during the incident. The dealer has documented the event as a safety concern and reported it to the manufacturer. This appears to involve unintended forward movement or application of engine power while braking, creating a significant safety risk.
Vehicle started missing at around 2000 miles, also a check engine light came on. Took it to rick hendrick Jeep and they ended up replacing an oxygen sensor and telling me the vehicle was not missing even though I have obd reports showing the engine missing. At around 7000 miles I performed the second oil change on the vehicle, when inspecting the old oil filter I found larger particles of metal in it. I took the vehicle back to rick hendrick and the mechanic looked at the filter that was new (only 500 miles) and said he only found glitter. The mechanic said this is normal for break in. The pieces I see in the oil filter are larger and some look like lathe shavings. I have pictures of the metal particles. So I was given back the vehicle and told it's ok. I know it isn't ok with that amount of metal in the engine and am afraid it will leave me stranded on the highway.
The primary component involved is the high-voltage charging system, specifically the charging port and connector interface. The vehicle previously experienced a confirmed failure involving a scorched charging port and a melted pin, which required replacement. The same symptoms have since returned, including heat at the charging interface and a burning odor. The vehicle is currently located at an authorized dealership and is available for inspection upon request. This condition presents a safety risk due to the potential for electrical overheating and possible fire hazard. In addition, the vehicle has experienced repeated loss of power while driving, which creates a risk in traffic conditions and could impact driver control and safety. The issue has been previously confirmed by the dealership, which replaced the charging port due to thermal damage. However, upon recurrence of similar symptoms, the dealership has refused to diagnose or service the vehicle, preventing further confirmation at this time. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized dealership on multiple occasions for related issues, including the prior charging system failure. The manufacturer has not directly inspected the vehicle but has been contacted for assistance. Prior to the charging system failure, symptoms included heat at the charging connector and a burning odor. The vehicle has also exhibited electrical system irregularities and repeated loss of power while driving beginning after recall-related service in or around August 2024.
The engine is overheating at idle speed and there's a phamtom coolant leak. We just bought this in January and are already having major issues. Seems to be a problem with the plastic coolant reservoir being near a very hot engine.
I was involved in a collision. The front driver's side hit another car, causing a lot of damage. The surprise was the fire. There is no reason for it to have caught for the way it did. The door was jammed, so resorted to unhooking the soft top, while I caught fire. I opened the top and jumped off the top, crawling away with burns and cuts before the entire engine exploded. I could have still been in that car, and I don't think I would have made it.
"the vehicle exhibits a recurring loss of motive power (lmp) during low-speed maneuvers (intersections) and highway speeds (50+ mph). The failure is preceded by erratic instrument cluster behavior (gauge spikes) and results in a total loss of propulsion without prior warning. This defect persists despite the completion of recall zb7 and recall 68c. The dealership has duplicated the failure but refuses further repair, stating the vehicle is 'out of scope' for current remedies, placing the driver at high risk of a collision. " screenshots include: "written admission from Jeep dealership confirming duplicated loss of motive power and acceleration struggle following a software update. Dealer admits software is 'more sensitive' than previous versions but has no physical way to resolve the safety defect. " the manufacturer-authorized repair facility stating they want to release an unsafe vehicle back to me without a remedy. "there is nothing for any of us to do with your vehicle here at chapman" and tells you to contact Chrysler. The video screenshots that show the gauge spikes (rpm/oil needles jumping and dropping to zero).
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -after the 68c recall update for the hv battery failures, the vehicle has not been able to consistently maintain or provide power due to the limitation of the battery introduced as part of the recall. This is most noticeable driving in electric mode below 60% charge. The throttle behavior is inconsistent and unpredictable due to the recent updated how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -I was merging onto a controlled access highway and unable to accelerate after pulling into the travel lane from the merging lane due to the limitations of the battery power. The engine did not respond in time to provide power to the vehicle. The occurrence of the loss of power is unpredictable. Some times the electric battery and motor can provide the necessary power, and in others it does not respond to the throttle demand at the same state of charge with no indication of the issue. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -it has not yet has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -it has not were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -no warning lamps were provided.
Unknown. I was driving and my Jeep started making g a very loud rattling sound it kept getting louder. Eventually it made a screeching sound and the dash board lit up and it stopped and the engine began to smoke really bad. The engine light came on but I tried my best to make it home. It was towed to the dealership and they said that the engine needed to be replaced because there was a hole in it.
A recall repair was completed in 2023 related to an overheating warning. Recently, the same issue has returned. The engine cooling fan runs at a very high speed for several minutes and then shuts off, even when the vehicle is cold or operating under normal conditions. An overheating warning message appeared briefly while driving, but the temperature gauge remained within the normal range. This suggests the engine may not actually be overheating and that the issue may be related to a faulty sensor, electrical system, or control module. The problem has not yet been fully diagnosed by a dealer due to diagnostic costs, but the symptoms are consistent with the original issue that led to the recall repair. This condition could pose a safety risk because the driver may receive inaccurate overheating warnings or may not be alerted if a real overheating condition occurs. The issue is intermittent and has occurred both while driving and when the vehicle is stationary. Attempts were made to contact the manufacturer to report this as a repeat issue after a recall repair, but no resolution was provided and a formal case was not successfully established.
I have a 2018 Jeep Wrangler jl sport s (2 door) with approximately 66,000 miles. On March 26th, 2026 I had a flashing check engine light come up along with the vehicle shaking in low gears. I had the vehicle towed to the Jeep dealership (gandrud auto group) from which I bought it from and upon their inspection they found the left bank head gasket leaking coolant into the combustion chamber causing misfires. This repair was over $5000 and took over a week to fix. The service ticket from grandrud will be attached which lists all parts that needed to be replaced. This vehicle is much too new to be having these kinds of issues and gandrud even stated that many customers with jl Wranglers have been coming to them with the same issue of the head gasket failing. 1. Left bank head gasket leaking coolant into the combustion chamber causing misfires. Photos will be attached. 2. Shaking vehicle. Had vehicle towed. 3. Dealership inspected and identified the issue. Invoice attached. 4. Check engine light came on for just one day back in December of 2025, was brought into gandrud and it was a misfire code, no noticeable issues at the time however and check engine light went away. On March 26th, 2026 I had a flashing check engine light come up along with the vehicle shaking in low gears.
The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where a scan was completed, and diagnostic trouble codes for the emissions, engine misfire, timing chain, and crank position sensor failures were displayed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 71,756.

After the 68c recall the power of the electric drive is limited. Frequent power loss occurs on highway driving during acceleration (merging onto highway or passing other cars). Despite the battery being charged up to 50% there is only 25% power available. The car is a plug in hybrid vehicle. The internal combustion engine states in these cases with several seconds delay. During that time the car does not accelerate sufficiently to safely merge onto a highway or pass other cars. The power loss happens without warning during critical drive situations like merging onto a highway or passing other cars. The driver expects a continuous level of power by the car, not a sudden power loss. This is reported by countless other drivers on all social media platform as a consequence of the 68c recall that affects 350 000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and grand cherokee 4xe. Jeep does not respond to customer complaints or requests for clarification.
The vehicle is a 2018 Jeep Wrangler with a 3. 6l engine and approximately 124,000 miles. The engine has experienced a failure involving multiple components, including suspected head gasket failure, significant oil loss with no visible external leak, low oil pressure, and engine knocking. Diagnostic trouble codes p0365 and p06dd were present, indicating camshaft position sensor issues and oil pressure control failure. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition creates a safety risk due to the potential for sudden engine failure and loss of power while driving, which could occur without warning and increase the risk of an accident. The problem has been confirmed by an independent repair facility, which identified low oil levels, coolant loss, and symptoms consistent with internal engine damage. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. Prior to the failure, warning signs included a low oil pressure condition and engine performance changes. These symptoms developed rapidly over a short period of time. The vehicle is currently not safe to operate due to the risk of further engine damage or sudden failure.
There are multiple recalls on my vehicle the 68c which was a overheating battery issue that a software update was performed but the underlying battery issue still exists and the 78c which is sand casting in the engine block which has no fix and the dealer has no remedy because stellantis has no remedy they say it could cause catastrophic engine failure but it’s safe to drive they refuse to give me a loaner or reimburse me for a rental vehicle they also refuse to buy back my vehicle so I can get into a safe gas powered vehicle I find this unacceptable and would like you to take action against this company please help us thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. After a recent recall (68c) for my 4xe the driving characteristics of my vehicle have totally changed. Accelerationis delayed and jerky with the engine cutting in and out very unpredictavely now. Electric range has also gone down in a real world scenario. Jeep has not clarified or explained that the recall did to the driving dynamics of the vehicle after the recall.
2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has had multiple safety recalls. My Jeep began losing all engine power while driving down the highway, causing it to jump forward and stall back. During this power malfunction, the engine began smoking and a burning smell was emitted from the engine compartment. I was luckily close enough to home that I made it back to my driveway before it completely lost power. I was worried that it was going to catch fire and cause harm to my surrounding neighbors, so I stood outside for a while to make sure I did not need to call the fire department. I then reached out to stellantis to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership because the issues that arose were consistent with the 78c recall. I opened a claim with stellantis as well to have an inspector look at the vehicle but before they were able to see the vehicle, the dealership "repaired" it and said it was just a malfunctioning piston, and I could come get the Jeep. I refused, because it was still a safety risk with no fix for the recall and did not feel safe putting my safety at risk or others safety on the road at risk. Stellantis sent me a letter a week later saying the vehicle showed no signs of fire or burning and is safe to operate now. I refuse to believe this because a genuine inspection was never done to the vehicle after the incident and now stellantis is putting my and others safety at risk by saying the vehicle is "fixed".
First incident: January, 2026 “service hybrid electrical system” dash light activated, in addition to prior notification of recall 78c. Vehicle brought to merrick Chrysler Jeep in wantagh NY for repair and recall. Hybrid system repaired but recall unable to be performed. Second incident: March 12, 2026 vehicle is unable to start in driveway. Towed to merrick Jeep Chrysler. Stellantis states recall 78c repairs are still unavailable. Awaiting information from merrick Jeep March 16, 2026 email to stellantis officially requesting early lease termination due to extreme safety issues (recall 78c) and two incidents of hybrid electrical system failure in 2 months. Received case number 00319759.

Jeep Wrangler 2024 issues plate number [xxx] bin # [xxx] to whom it may concern, I would like to request a courtesy incentive or compensation due to the repeated recalls and repair situations with my Jeep Wrangler. There have been three lengthy recall repairs this winter. The extended repair times, especially when parts are back-ordered, have resulted in wasted time and additional mileage on my lease from trips to the dealership, appointments, and test drives. The electric engine issues have been particularly concerning, as the failure has rendered the vehicle inoperable on some occasions, posing a significant safety risk. There have been instances where the vehicle has completely stopped, created a dragging effect, and failed to start in winter, while experiencing malfunctions in all electric components. My fuel consumption has significantly increased over the past three months due to these repairs, and I am no longer able to effectively use the electric engine feature. The service department has been unable to diagnose the electric engine failure after multiple attempts, and as a result, the battery is being overcharged without engaging the electric motor. There have been numerous unresolved issues and repairs that have not been successfully completed. I acquired this hybrid vehicle after considering the advertising regarding its favorable fuel efficiency and the electric rechargeable engine feature. However, this feature has not been utilized this winter due to repeated malfunctions, recalls, or a combination of both. Since late November 2025, this electric engine has consistently ceased to function. Several scheduled repair diagnostic appointments were postponed by the dealer due to a busy service schedule and a shortage of staff at the repair facility. Additionally, I need to request unpaid time off from my job, as the dealer is unable to provide a loan vehicle while my Jeep is being repaired. This has caused significant inconvenience and fina information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.
Abs module error: c2200 causes Jeep to go into limp mode when accelerator is pushed hard. Near miss on collision, lack of abs causes skidding and possible loss of control.

Issue type: 1. ) electrical system / hybrid battery 2. ) safety recall with no remedy my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe currently has open safety recalls (78c and a7c) with no available remedy. These recalls have been open for several months. I have been advised that the vehicle may pose a safety risk, yet I am continuing to make lease payments and rely on the vehicle for transportation. The manufacturer has not provided a repair timeline or resolution. I do not feel safe operating the vehicle and am seeking assistance because the defect cannot currently be repaired.
While driving on the highway, my Jeep completely shut off and I lost control of everything the staring and I have no clue why it just shut off. I’m worried if I drive it I could do this while I’m on the highway and the third lane and I may end up in a collision.
On 3/3/2026, I brought me Jeep 4xe to the Jeep dealership in paris, kentucky to have the 68c recall performed. The Jeep dealership used version #7 of the 68c recall instructions to updated all software modules and then to perform a 7 mile test run to engage the electric engine and to stress the vehicle per the instructions documented in the recall instructions. Document is identified * high voltage battery * reference: 68c/NHTSA 25v-741 * revision: 7 * edition: February 2026 * details: additional dtc added to the end of section b. Bpcm software update after picking vehicle up from dealership, I proceeded home via a state highway route 68 (paris pike). The roadway is a 4 lane divided highway and has a speed limit of 55mph. I set my vehicle to hybrid mode and then placed it on cruise control as I had done numerous times over its 25,000 miles. During the drive there were occasional rolling hills and inclines. I gauged the hills to be about a 1% grade on average but never exceeding 2% grade. During these inclines, the gasoline engine engaged and the rpm gauge on the instrument cluster registered 3000rpm. This excessive engine rpm had never occurred before the 68c factory recall procedure. In all other instances of the engine engaging, the rpm would engage at 2000rpm. I contend that the the engagement of the gasoline engine on these small inclines was not warranted and that the excessive rpm's of 3000 is not normal and was never experienced prior to the 68c recall fix. I am submitting this information for review and documentation. Video of the instrument cluster gauge showing the rmp gauage and the display panel showing the engine and battery kw used were taken to document the process. I believe that the engagement of the gasoline engine at 3000rpm will cause excessive wear of the engine and is a direct result of one of the software updates that was used to complete the 68c recall.
Driving safety concern. Important my new vehicle (Jeep Wrangler rubicon x) 2026 abruptly shut down as I was driving and veering the steering wheel to the left. All the vehicle power was suddenly gone (electrical, engine, etc) without notice and the vehicle made an aggressive total stop immediately . The steering wheel was hard and the brakes blocked after it lose power and shut down. This has happened twice now. Fortunately I was driving at low speeds and there where no vehicles behind me. However I don’t want to drive the car anymore as this can lead to a serious accident. The first time this happened was two week ago. I took the vehicle to the dealership where I bought it and after 2 weeks of checking the vehicle they returned it to me saying that they couldn’t find anything. 5 days after I got the vehicle back from the dealership this happened again today. The problem persists and it’s a very concerning.
