1 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/29/2022

No crash or injuries. My Jeep only has 45,000 original miles and it is leaking oil from the oil cooler. I researched and this seems to be a very common issue with the 2015 3. 6 l Jeep Wrangler. It cost over $1,500 to repair. As the other gentleman stated in his complaint, I feel this is a major issue that needs to be addressed by Jeep. See the other post below for further detail: I own two Jeep Wranglers, a 2013 and a 2015. I had the 2015 repaired at a cost of over $1,000. 00. Now my 2013 has developed the same problem; to wit, the oil cooler/ oil filter housing cracks on Chrysler 3. 6 engines and the oil is spread onto the exhaust pipe which has the potential of causing a fire. If this is not discovered, the oil will spread to the rear tires which will cause a traction or braking hazard. Chrysler has not modified the housing and when you replace , it is replaced with the same part that will fail in the future. Chrysler has to know that this problem exists by the # of units that they have sold, not to mention the thousands of units that are sold on ebay and automotive parts stores. There should be a recall on this situation before people are injured or killed.

Engine oil cooler fail, extreme fire hazard. Small amount of oil found on driveway while parked, attempted to locate source by starting engine. Oil flooded out of the engine, streaming down the engine to the frame. Had my wife driven the Jeep to work it would've probably caught fire once the oil reached the exhaust.

Another 2014 Jeep Wrangler owner with a cracked oil filter housing/cooling assembly. Oil is spilling out all over exhaust. Certainly a fire hazard. The vehicle started by itself while parked. The ignition had been turned off and keys removed for several hours. This has happened twice. I discovered the vehicle running, doors locked and ignition in the off position. To turn off the enginei inserted the key, turned it to the on position and then off. This occurred once in my garage, causing carbon monoxide exhaust to enter the living quarters. It happened a second time while parked away from home, with the keys removed. The vehicle was stationary, because it was placed in park when the engine was turned off.

10 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/27/2017

I was driving at under 10 mph, on a texas state road when the plastic fuel line which is connected to the underside of the body with some type of adhesive failed. This dropped the fuel line directly on the catalytic converter, which melted the fuel line causing a fire that spread to the engine compartment. Apparently this is an issue on the 4 door model Wranglers as the 2 door Wranglers have a plate preventing this. This issue should be looked at on all 4 door models, ranging from 2008 through at least 2013. I have looked at other 4 door Jeeps and see that they have the same potential issue there is nothing that prevents the fuel line from coming into contact with the exhaust and potentially causing a fire.

23 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/17/2007

The Chrysler group llc and midway Jeep Chrysler located at 777 camino del rio south in san diego, CA are colluding the deny consumer rights afforded me under state and federal law, breach of contractual obligations and violation of state and federal clean vehicle emission regulations. I purchased a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x on April 13th, 2007. Since then, I have to add 6 quarts of oil between oil changes. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership to have the problem resolved under the terms of the vehicles warranty. After cursory examination that included visually checking the dip stick, visually checking the spark plugs, pvc, and cvc valves, I was told the service manager for midway Jeep Chrysler stated that using 6 quarts of oil between oil changes is perfectly normal and midway Jeep nor Chrysler will not perform any other investigative diagnostics, nor make any repairs to vehicle. They appear to be colluding to run out the clock for when the vehicle warranty expires on April 12th, 2010. After consulting automotive experts and technicians, which I hired at my own expense, have been unanimous in their professional opinions that the vehicles engine has serious internal mechanical issues and the engine will fail. Further more, the amount of oil being consumed is destroying the catalytic converter, oxygen sensors and other components of the vehicle exhaust system. This will render the vehicle inoperable under California law and require substantial repairs at great cost.

28 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/26/2005

Bought new 2005 Jeep Wrangler x 8/3/05 took on trip and soon was overwhelmed with butane/exhaust smell if windows or vent was open; eventually came leaking through ac. Smell bad enough to make you nauseous which eventually became numb nose/lips and burning eyes for two hours after driving. Took to dealership and was fluffed, I. E. , could have been a plastic bag, only smell was new car smell, etc. , they even claimed to have driven it with windows down. This was impossible so I sent my husband there and service manager experienced the burning eyes and nausea during ride. Called Jeep and was told they couldn't discuss any systemic problems, referred me to dealers. 2nd fix attempt 9/15/05 @1344 miles resulted in "no fault codes in system, performed fuel system monitor test reading not in specs, excessive fuel through system. " changed software, wrote "road tested vehicle, has slight residue odor. Cat converter baffles have some interior fuel coating that will need to be burned off. Will take about 500 miles of driving to burn all coating from inside of exhaust system. " I was told to drive it "50 miles". They also had to repaint the spiderweb /defect paint to the tune of $454. Back in 9/22/05 @ 1508 miles as paint was deteriorating all over. Sent for full repaint quote ($3353- have to wait for Jeep zone mgr ok) mpg has declined from 19 to 17 after 2nd service visit. Today 9/26/05, the 3rd trip in on smell after agreeing to try a short trip. Same result/symptoms; I never will get the hard top off. Told service do not return it until the catalytic converter, seals, exhaust, whatever, no longer smells. Now the rear windshield wiper sticks in the spare tire/was inoperable, apparently manufacturer put on the wrong blade via service. Also was told that I was the only Wrangler x with the exhaust/butane smell problem but see another as early as 3/10/05. I don't know what excuse I'll hear on this the 3rd attempt, but wonder if smell is carbon monoxide related.

30 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/23/2005

I purchased my Jeep in may of 2005. Since that time the engine light has come on and the O2 sensor replaced three times. The light is on again. 31 Engine Exhaust System problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/20/2004

1997 Jeep Wrangler exhaust manifold. Consistent decrease in power, stumbling, and poor gas mileage. After a wreck I noticed the manifold was cracked. Both the insurance company and the authorized Jeep dealership told me it was not due to the wreck but due to fact it was a common Wrangler problem, and it probably had started prior to the wreck I just hadn't noticed it. But since there is not a recall they would not fix the problem. I have fixed it.
