1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/01/2022

Recall # 16v-288 28 June 28, 2016 clockspring on 2014jeep , Wrangler unlimited sport 4x4. VIN: 1c4bjwkg3el257078--- **recall - replaced clockspring 22 Aug 2016 @ 73,416 miles (n/c), *** replaced clockspring 6 Feb 2019 @ 133,086 miles (n/c) team Dodge - they warranty parts for 2 years. **** replaced clockspring @139,571 miles 20 may 2019 -- cost $622. 74, "should" have been no charge as team Jeep in huntsville TX 77340, warrants parts for 2 years ???? "last visit: 1 Dec 2022" to dealer @ 219,882, to replace fuel pump, the codes reading, which I reviewed, besides wheel sensor & fuel pump, also reads clockspring fail:- horn not working, engine light on, electronic stability control light on, and left side of steering wheel controls not working which indicates clockspring failed which effects airbag. All mechanical repairs were made at the dealership where vehicle was purchased in 2014. Back on 6 Feb 2019 I asked the mechanic that was replacing the clockspring if the replacement part had been upgraded, improved, a different new unit ----"answer was no", it's the same old Jeep installed original part by Chrysler /Jeep company. "it is a safety issue and a recall should be issued again" !!! my question, if I have to pay for a replacement clockspring again, how much I it going to cost me again for the same original part that fails so frequently ??????.

3 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/23/2019

Had an intermittent problem with the air bag dashboard light activating. This would occur at speeds of zero up to highway and would come and go without warning. The obd-ii code was b1b8f, driver seat track position sensor circuit open. After removing the driver seat to access the wiring harness discovered that one wire was broken at the sensor, partially held together by a "thread" of the wire insulation with bare metal exposed. The wiring harness had been installed under the seat with the wire pulled tight to the under seat "spring" wire support and held in place with a zip tie. I consider it likely that the up-and-down motion of the seat over a period of years caused the harness wire to break. The first picture shows the connector to which the broken wire was attached. Unfortunately the broke wire is in the back, the one with the purple stripe. The second picture shows the broken wire after the wire plug was pulled out of the connector,.

4 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

Taka airbags, tipm fuse box. Completely disables the vehicle. They have known about and have been running this part in many Chrysler Dodge Jeep vehicles since 1995. My car is a 2007. It reckon havock on the whole electrical system. The dealer milks all of your 260 somthing sensors before replacing the tipm, totally integrated power module. And the sway bar disconnect is prone to water damage and shorting out because they let water in the assembly and short out then they charge you 1400 dollars for a new one. When it is just the actuator. A manual override is only 89. 00. All of these problems are from the can buse c. 90 %of this vehicle problems are from this can buse c. But no recall on the tipm, sway bar actuator, or can buse c communication. This whole electrical system should be a recall. It is garbage. Over complicated and under nesasary! driving done the freeway and the whole dashboard lights up I pulled over turned car off and then would not turn back on. Goes in to a limp mode. I was worried that it would shut off or worse cause an accident or leave me stranded in the freeway! the airbag recall could set the airbag of wile driving causing you to crash.

7 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/21/2017

Currently a recall for a sensor of the airbags. I installed mopar led headlights. They say the headlights get destroyed during the fix and they put stock headlights back in, not what I currently have. They are factory made mopar headlights that cost approx $950. 00. I don't want to get this recall done because I don't think I should lose out on that much money. Chrysler designed these headlights so that can only be put in once. They should suffer the consequences of that design by replacing them for a safety recall, not have me lose out on the money I spent making my vehicle safer.

8 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/09/2016

Our Jeep has a recall for a sensor wire in the front area of the vehicle. I dropped the Jeep at the dealership (mall of georgia chrystler Jeep in buford GA) and received a shuttle ride home. I was called a few hours later by my advisor chris and told that I needed to remove the winch, winch plate, light bar, and lights on the front bumper. The tech needs to remove grill and cannot with this equipment in the way. They offered to remove all the equipment for me for $250. I told the advisor (chris) that the letter received in the mail is adamant that this is to be done at no cost to the owner. He told me that it did not include custom equipment. I called fca, as my letter explained I should do if the dealer was not resolving my issue. I explained the situation as I have above. The fca agent (I do not have her name, but gave them my info) first indicated to me that there should not be any charges for recall repairs, so she called the dealer, talked to chris, and came back to my line telling me exactly what chris had told me that a charge would be expected to remove the custom equipment so they can repair this vehicle. Should there ever be a reason for charging a customer for a recall repair, in a safety recall situation such as this?.

My airbag sensor is continuously coming on and off. I noticed that there is a recall on right hand drive vehicles but I suspect there is something to this. As well. . . My electrical system is always on the fritz. Some days the radio works. . . Some days it doesn't. My engine light is constantly on and no one finds anything wrong with the engine. . .

11 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/28/2015

Right after 36 month mark (but below 30,000mi mark), an air bag malfunction light went on. It would stay on for the duration of a trip or even when the vehicle is parked with engine idling. My vehicle was never in collisions, fender-benders, or otherwise experienced any insults to the air bag sensors or wiring. I had 7yr/75,000mi warranty from Chrysler that allegedly covers all major components and electronics. However, it does not cover the air bags. That is, Chrysler therefore does not consider air bags a major component. As a consumer, safety of my passengers and I is a major issue. Thus, I ended up paying nearly $1,000 to repair the issue at a Chrysler dealership. I am hearing similar complaints from Wrangler owners. Chrysler needs to make things right.

12 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/10/2014

Air bag warming light is constantly on and flashes and chimes while begin driven. I was told it was a malfunctioning airbag sensor in the steering column and that they have seen many of these cases in the Jeep Wrangler "jk" and that there was a recall for the model year 2007 but not for any of the newer model years.

13 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated each time the steering wheel was turned to the left or right. The contact stated that the dealer provided several repairs and the failures recurred. Also, the right front abs sensor was replaced. The dealer replaced the steering pump twice, the dynamic sensor due to the traction control sensor illuminating. In addition, the contact indicated that while traveling over 55 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the seals and after the repair water leaked on the front passengers side. The left side valves had to be replaced due to a ticking noise and two months later the right side valve were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

14 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Transmission overheats when driving uphill even in the snow. (needs a tranny cooler). Air bag sensor failed. Not covered but same part failed in 2007 and is covered by warranty.

15 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Airbag sensor light came on. Took vehicle in and was told it is the airbag clock spring. There have been recalls on right side driver installs, which mine is not. However, there are numerous reports that left side driver install is defective as well. Chrysler has given assistance to some customers in replacing the part that were not under the recall, but refused to assist me. It is a well known defect and I believe Chrysler should be forced to recall the part on all Jeep Wranglers, especially admittedly knowing the problem and assisting some people with part replacement but not others.

19 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/29/2007

For as long as I can remember the air bag light has come on and remained on. I have always figured it was just a problem with the light. I was recently told that if the warning light is on the air bag will not work. I did not find any recalls regarding air bags but I see various complaints regarding air bags in the Jeep Wrangler and this concerns me. I am printing these complaints and bringing the vehicle to a dealer before selling it. I want to assure the safety of any future drivers.

As per serveral service bulletins already submitted, my 1999 Jeep Wrangler was purchased early in 2000 with 30,000 miles on it. Several months later the airbag light comes on and all other gauges stop working. The dealership already did a repair on the part and it worked okay for about 6 months and since then, 20,000 + miles later it continues to do the same thing again. I am no longer under warranty and have not yet contacted the dealership again to let them know that the repair did not correct the failure. It still occurs erratically, but almost on a daily basis over 1 year after the repair was done.

33 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

This vehicle has its gauges drop off intermittently. In some cases, all guages drop, in others just the tach and speedometer. Shelley warsaw cp je, clarksville, MD has worked on the vehicle on 3 occasions. Initially they replaced the airbag sensor. This did not solve the problem. The vehicle spent 1. 5 days in this facility in June. They diagnosed it as a harnass connector problem. The situation appeared to be remediated, but has once again occurred. It is uncomfortable to drive a vehicel that indicates a problem with the airbag (check airbag signal) on a daily basis.
