10 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

My air bag light keeps coming on randomly. I took it to a friend who works for Chrysler as a mechanic and his code reader mentioned the steering wheel air bag is the culprit. We've determined that the clock spring is the root of the issue. Although not of the same recall group, this is exactly like the 2016's recall of 2007-2010 us Wranglers, and over 7k+ right-hand drive Wranglers. Im sure my Wrangler is not the only 2011 having this issue. Considering we've been dealing with tons of dust and soot in California due to wildfires everywhere, it is likely the dust triggering this; nonetheless fitting the profile of the recall in 2016 exactly as it is. I believe Chrysler/fiat should honor vehicles built in that year range as it seems they are still affected by this design flaw.

19 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/03/2020

I had my driver's side clock spring replaced at dealership in 2019 due to recall. Last 2 months, airbag light comes on and off but usually only when I am in full turn. On Aug 3, 2020, I noticed my outside temp was reading celsius so I tried to change it back to fahrenheit. Button was not working. Checked my horn. . . Nothing. . . . Cruise control. . . . Nothing. 20 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/10/2020

I have a current recall for a defective airbag in my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The airbag is currently not operational. Every 1-2 minutes while drive the airbag light will come on and ding. This is a serious safety issue and it makes the vehicle incredibly annoying to drive. A local repair shop diagnosed the error codes and they said the problem is related to the following recall and I should take it to a dealer to be fixed. Manufacturer recall number: s33 NHTSA recall number: 16v-290 I waited for the first available appointment and took my vehicle to autonation arapahoe Jeep in centennial, colorado today. They said it will be a year and a half or more before the part is in stock. They will not be able to fix the issue until then. This is completely unacceptable to have the manufacturer acknowledge a defective airbag and I have to wait a year and a half to get it fixed. Sadly, I don't know what recourse I have to get it fixed. Aside from paying $500 out of pocket to have the local auto repair shop fix it. Which is what they quoted me for. And said they could the part in stock to repair in 2 days.

21 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/30/2020

The airbag light has continuously stayed on no matter trying to reset it or sitting in the seat it's just been on and I'm afraid that it's faulty.

22 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/20/2020

Clockspring went bad at 50. 000 I think it should be part of the air bag recall I bring it to dealership to have airbag recalled but it still won't work it airbag light is on and on one even told me at the dealership about the light lucky I'm a mechanic and I know these things . Ya fix the recall but it still won't work what good was it for me even to bring it in they should at least warned me hey air bag won't work your clockspring is bad they just wanted me out of there hollywood Jeep chysler on state road 7 -441 service department steven ruth service advisor 954-342-5164 not cool at and I paid for diagnosis which appears I know more thank you [xxx] redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. 23 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/06/2020

While sitting still I started my Jeep and on my instrument panel the airbag light came on, the first few hours it would come on and go off intermittently, now it's on all of the time. When I took it to a dealership they said it was the clock spring which costs $410 for the part alone and informed me that they are on back order which tells me there must be a lot of Jeeps with the same issue. When I asked them if that meant my airbag may deploy at any time she said no quite the opposite it meant it would not deploy at all. I am a mail carrier and have spoken to other 2016 rhd Jeep owners and they had recalls to repair theirs but mine didn't make the recall list. My Jeep is my livelihood, now I have to worry that if I'm involved in a collision I'm at a much higher risk for injury or fatality.

24 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/20/2020

31 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

The airbag light just came on in my 2014 Jeep jk. After diligent research online, and with the mechanical knowledge I have. I have found that it is due to the failure of the clock spring in the steering wheel. After researching further, I found in numerous threads, post, blogs, and forums, that this is a widespread issue with all Jeep jk's. A recall was issued for the 07 and 08 jk's, and also for the newer model right hand drive jk's. However, this issue has not been addressed in the 09 through 18 jk's. This can cause safety issues with the airbags, and believe Jeep should issue a recall for these latter year jk's as well. This happened while driving back home from across town. At first with the light and chime coming on intermittently. Then finally the light stayed on. I have not been to the dealership to diagnose this as I believe I have done so on my own. This is a quite expensive fix for a safety issue that I don't believe Jeep buyers should have to pay.

32 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

Takata recall. Airbag light recently turned on. After using a diagnostic tool to decode the problem I'm given code b1b02. This was an open recall on half a million older Jeep Wranglers. However mine is not included in the recall and feel it should be concerning the potential seriousness that could arise.

33 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

Clock spring malfunction- the buttons on the steering wheel have all gone out, the horn no longer works, and the airbag light is on. This happened suddenly when I went to turn my car on after it had been parked and turned off for the night.

34 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/09/2019

Airbag recall: I've had an airbag light on for over a year now but no active recall was out for my VIN at the time I checked with the dealer about this problem. Recently, the engine light continued to come on with a fault code for the airbag. The vehicle was brought to the larry h miller Dodge located at 4220 e 22nd st, tucson, az 85711 to have the problem resolved. After writing up a work order for engine diagnostics I received a phone call stating I would need a clockspring to rectify the airbag problem. At this time I informed them that there was an active safety recall for the vehicle, which they were unaware of despite having printed the information when they checked the vehicle in (nobody actually checked to see if there was a recall, they simply printed the necessary VIN check paperwork). In addition to this I also have lost cruise control function as well as having to press extremely hard on my steering wheel buttons for them to work. Sounds similar to other peoples' reported problems. I feel I shouldn't be charged a diagnostic in the first place as this should have been the first thing that was checked and corrected before anything but I'll have to take that up with them.
