2007 Jeep Wrangler problems with engine stalling. Consumer states that in order to restart the vehicle it must be in neutral before turning the ignition switch. Consumer states she would like the vehicle replaced. The seat belt retractor on the drivers side failed within weeks of owning the vehicle, there was a constant rattling noise coming from the pillar area, the drivers door did not close properly. The technician used a mallet or hammer to align the door striker. The consumer had to slam the door in order for it to close properly, even though there was no certainty the door was really closed. There was a possibility that the striker on the door could collapse while the vehicle was in motion causing the door to open. The vehicle also made a rattling noise while accelerating.

41 Structure problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/01/2008

Exterior door handle has a big button to be pushed by the thumb for entry. The button/tension caused my thumb to develop a very painful condition diagnosed as "trigger thumb". After several dr's & many types of treatment, I will be facing surgery in hopes of correcting the problem. There is no guarantee for long term success. I've been suffering with this problem for the better part of a year & it has me recoiling at the Jeep I was in love with when I bought it last year. I've had it parked while I've driven an older car I own, but with winter coming and the need for an SUV. . . There's no way I can keep my Jeep & hope my thumb will ever be able to tolerate it. At one point when my right thumb was totally immobile, I started using my left. When it started exhibiting the same strain that my right one started with months before. . . I knew beyond a doubt it was my Jeep handle that had caused the problem. It's unfortunate I didn't realize sooner why my thumb was at first feeling strained off & on, then very swollen & throbbing, and finally locking in place with excruciating pain. It took an orthopedic hand specialist to finally diagnose the problem which comes from repetitive motion. My Jeep door handle is the only type of motion like that my thumb does. That, the timing & the fact that my other thumb started to do the same when tested. . . Convinces me the door handle is the problem. This is not limited to Jeep. This handle is probably on several makes & models. One other Chrysler product for sure is the Dodge nitro. Please file a complaint if you've suffered from this issue.

42 Structure problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

There are no crash test ratings for the rear occupants in Jeep Wranglers. Passengers are extremely vulnerable in the back seat since there is no protection except the roll bar but if they are rear-ended, the other car could simply hit the back seat directly. There is no neck protection as the seat is too short. When children ride back there, they are basically unprotected. This situation needs to be advertised so people don't assume it is safe to have passengers, especially children in the back of Jeep Wranglers. The back seat is only designed for cargo, not people! that's why they don't have data on rear occupant crash test ratings, because they would fail.

53 Structure problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2004

I own a 1998 Jeep Wrangler VIN number 1j4fy19s9wp761150 I purchased new on Apr 10, 1998 since Feb. 1, 2003 the instrument panel has off and on not been working properly . This included all the gauges and air bag indicator. I have take my vehicle to a authorized dealer service shop for repair on 2-6-2003, 10-16-2003 and 5-19-2004. The first two times they said the the instrument panel had corrosion and they sprayed it. The last time they said it was to much corrosion and that I had to pay for replaceing it about $900. 00 this vehicle as of this date has only 16076 miles on it. This is very dangerous because I have driven this vehicle when instructment and air bag indicator has stop working.

54 Structure problem of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/12/2004

Front brake vibrate violently, and have been changed 4 times within the 1. 5 yrs I have owned the truck. My drivers seat frame is cracked (the metal frame) I use a pillow to keep it streight because it leans to thee left due to the weld crack in the frame. I have gotten no where with 2 different dealerships and shelled out well over 2. 000 dollars on rotors and brakes. The rear brakes hardlry work also I can pull I=the emergency brake and the truck will not even slow down the fronts do all the work and it has been in for brake repairs by several different shops. There must be a recall because thie is a severe danger and is going to really cause a problem or worse deaths.

55 Structure problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/15/2003

Water leak in passenger compartment. I finally had to remove right side floor carpeting and glove box cover and show the dealer where the body was leaking. I had the Wrangler to two different dealers for this problem. Each dealer charged me $100. 00 to fix the problem. Problem one was a lower windshield seal. Problem 2 was to re-seal behind the heater which is being done at this time. Service manager said he would talk to Chrysler about replacing carpet on right side which by now will not match left side and they will probably not pay for it. I have been without my transportation for several days on and off because of the leak and their inability to find this leak. There policy on rental cars is if they can't fix the car in the first 24 hours they will give you a rental car. They send you home car-less to wait for the call as to when your car will be ready. They have had my car for 3 days now and I am the only one who calls them to find out when my car will be ready. In the past I have purchased a number of Chrysler products. When I sell the Wrangler and durango, my Chrysler days are over. While I believe their cars and trucks are almost as good as most american products today, trying to work with the dealers is almost impossible. I think they have a terrible dealer network.

57 Structure problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/29/2003

I have had numerous problems with my Jeep Wrangler 1998. This is a partial list I sent to Chrysler: I bought my Jeep with just 3600 miles on it from a dealer in 1999. From day one I started experiencing problems. Many of them I returned to the service department. Some they were able to fix, others, after many return trips, they were 'unable to duplicate the problem'. 1. Gauges would stop working while driving - I brought the vehicle in 5 times before they were able to duplicate and finally fix the problem. 2. This was also true of the blinkers that not always worked - or worked all at the same time. 3. My hazards still do not work every time. 4. The air conditioner goes out when driving, very uncomfortable when it is hot and raining. 5. The sound bar has never worked properly - first it would only come in some times - now never. 6. Headers are cracked - bad. They have been welded several times. When I went to have them welded it was found they were welded before my purchase - at 3600 mil! they are still cracked, welding does not hold. I can not get anyone to replace them because even exhaust specialists say it is too cumbersome. The dealer charges way more than I have considering the number of repairs and the price of gas - at 12 mpg. 7. Drivers seat belt locks tightly with any amount of pressure on the brakes - it has now gotten to the point it locks just while driving. 8. Windows - the zippers broke almost immediately - I paid alot to have these replaced. The back window now has a cut in it and is very difficult to see through. 9. The top has never quite fit right; it has always leaked and been extremely noisy - more so than anyone else's that I know. It has also come apart at the seams. The dealership has not been of any help. They wanted to charge outrageous amounts just for diagnostics, even when I had the best warranty. I've also had problems with the door molding coming out immediately, grinding in the steering wheel, grinding while trying to put it in reverse and more.
