My 2016 Jeep Wrangler rubicon was ordered and purchased on 8/18/2016 and ordered straight from the chrsyler plant through leith Jeep dealership in raleigh, nc. While transporting my daughter from a dr. Appointment the Jeep caught on fire while traveling on aviation parkway in raleigh, nc on 9/8/2017 at approximately 10:45am. The Jeep suddenly had smoke coming into the main cabin from the right passenger side of the vehicle under the glove box area. I quickly pulled the Jeep to the side of the highway and removed the keys from the ignition hoping the smoke would stop. As I took the keys out of the ignition the right side of the dash was melting at my daugthers feet and flames were coming into the car and under the hood from the right side of the engine compartment. We quickjly exited the Jeep and called 911. By the time we got 10 feet away the car became engulped in flames. The fire occurred while the car was in motion. We know the fire started on the right side of the engine compartment around the main wiring unit due to where the smoke started. The fire dept also stated that the origin was noted on the right side of the vehicle due to the more severe burn pattern to the right passenger side of the Jeep compared to the left side. All service was completed by our Chrysler dealership and there were no problems noted. There was 1 recall (front impact sensor) on my VIN # and the dealership completed the required work. Please see all service records attached.

Leaving a parking lot all my electrical components began going haywire (wipers came on, wiper fluid started spraying, radio turned on and off, heat turned on and off, horn was blaring, door locks locking/unlocking at random). I removed the keys and the electrical failure continued. I began to smell burning plastic and noticed smoke/flames coming out from under the hood on the passenger side of the vehicle. After opening the engine compartment the fuse box was engulfed in flames. I was able to put the fire out with a fountain drink and a few bottles of water from bystanders. The wiring harness continued to smolder until the battery cable was removed. It is now in the shop to be repaired and will cost me 500 dollars out of pocket for my deductible. Thankfully no one was injured or killed and the vehicle wasn't a complete loss. This car also has no after market modifications.

Using my 2011 Jeep Wrangler (right hand drive), I deliver mail for the u. S. Postal service. Was delivering mail on my rural route. Date was 4th of Feb. 2014. The problem was a fire in the engine compartment. Causing damage to the wiring harness , many other wires, compartment plastics ,and gas line. The cause appears to be hot oil from the transmission dipping onto the engine and transmission . I only see that the fill tube on the transmission was the leak. I heard a fire ignite , open the car hood and seen the black smoke I then put out the fire. It is now the date-March 18 ,2014. I have no support from Chrysler corporation for repair of my problem. Their investigation stated an investigation into the incident found no manufacturing defect that caused the incident on 2-3-2014. I have now turned this over to my car insurance company . They say I should use the lemon law. This vehicle was repaired for a bad transmission in Nov. Of 2013. I do not see why I should of had more problems. The insurance company cost to repair is $5000. If the transmission is bad I was told by the dealer for the Jeep ,a new transmission would cost me personally $5000. Thank you.

The Jeep sat in my drive way for half hour before I took it out. Got 200 yards from my home and I lost power steering, horn and wipers going off with out touching any of them then the Jeep shut off and smoke poured out from the passenger side of the engine compartment. Lifted the hood and the right side of the inner fender was on fire! with in minutes the right side of the Jeep engine compartment was destroyed. The fuse box , battery, and wiring harness where destroyed. The fire department said it started in the fuse box. This Jeep is completely stock and as been perfect till this! never any issues in the year half I own it!.

2003 Jeep Wrangler tj, the contact points for the 3rd brake light are open to the cargo compartment. Had a hockey stick blade (made of fiberglass) touch these contacts and catch the stick and the carpet on fire while driving. Noticed burning smell when sitting at a stop light, thought it was from another vehicle, pulled away from intersection, looked in back and there was a fire inside the right rear corner.
