Tl-the contact owns a 2011 kia Optima. And received a NHTSA recall letter for an engine issue. The vehicle was taken to the dealer sunset kia of bradenton 4770 14th st w, bradenton, FL 34207(941) 752-1000 who tested the engine and said it passed the test. The contact had stated before the test that his engine had been stuttering. The dealer said that it was because the vehicle had not oil. The contact had just had an oil change. The dealer stated that they saw no metal shavings while conducting the test. The check oil light had not illuminated for the contact. About a week later the engine seized in the middle of the road. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer who said the contact needed a new engine due to a recall and the engine was replaced . The contact's check engine light came on and it was towed to another dealer and some more recalls were discovered. The dealer found a deteriorated clamp that caused the hose to become loose that caused the engine to jolt. The repairs were done but there was no mention of the deteriorated clamps on the invoice. The contact picked up the vehicle and the air bag light was on and the dealer stated that it was like that way when the contact bought the vehicle back in. The contact smelled gas and the discovered the fuel pump gushing fuel . The contact researched that this issue was caused by the initial engine replacement and the brake booster hose was not properly secured. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 86,000. Tf.

The airbag light is on now and I'm wondering if thats a problem, I don't want to be driving down the road and it deploys.
2 days after my warranty expired a light appeared on my dash and my horn stopped working, kia said it was an airbag light. I was quoted over $600 to replace a clock spring. I took it to a mechanic who put in a clock spring, it fixed the horn but it would cost more to replkace a sensor or airbag which ever would be needed once they dug into it. I couldn't afford the extra cost so it still appears on my dash.

Due to a recall, I had my engine replaced by kia patterson in July of 2017. About a week or so after getting it back, the airbag light came on and the horn does not work. Naturally, I contacted kia patterson regarding the matter and was told that it had nothing to do with the engine replacement. I'm now being told that it may be a defective airbag or clockspring, both of which are expensive repairs. I have found that several kia vehicles have suffered the same fate with no resolution. My car does not fall into the previously recalled models yet it seems to have the same problems. My level of frustration is so high at this point and I don't feel safe driving with these problems. Unfortunately, I will have to do so until I am able to save enough money to have it fixed. Shame on you kia!!!.

My vehicle was involved in a fender bender. I was stationary in traffic on a city street when my vehicle was struck from behind. A few days after, I noticed the airbag light continued to stay on and rear seat belt doesn't work. Prior to the fender bender I had no problems with air bag or seat belt. A minor incident caused my airbag to malfunction and I'm trying to understand why. I've only had this vehicle for 2 years and now its not safe to drive.

The dealer was contacted (university kia, 6519 university dr NW, huntsville, al 35806, (256) 217-1700) to inspect and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,913.

The contact owns a 2017 kia Optima. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to weseloh kia carlsbad (located at 5331 paseo del norte, carlsbad, CA 92008 at (760) 496-3131) where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side seat belt was defective and caused the light to remain illuminated. The voltage alternator assembly needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle inadvertently drifted to the right and left. The vehicle was then taken back to weseloh kia carlsbad, but no diagnostic codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. On several occasions, while attempting to drive, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

Takata recall. My air bag light came on in the summer of 2017 and hasn't gone out since. I have never hit anything to make the air bag light come on. I have had several places hook my car to their testing machines and nothing comes up on their machine.

I was driving to work and my drivers side airbag came on. A few months prior, we had to replace the O2 sensor because the check engine light was on. Now on the second day with the airbag light on, the check engine light came back on! is it bad wiring, will my airbag not work?.
"takata recal" I was driving on highway and my air bag light just came on.
Air bag light on dashboard stays on, started two days a go.

Airbag light stays on. This is apparently an ongoing problem with 2009 Optimas.
Airbag light came back on, after passenger mat replaced on recall. They found codes b1346 and b1481 for driver's airbag resistance too high for stages 1 and 2. Need to diagnose if airbag is faulty or clock spring.
Air bag light on dashboard is lite, for no reason! the car has less than 48k miles , never been in an accident nor hit anything . I am afraid to drive the vehicle nor have anyone in the car with me because , it's without an airbag there is no protection.

Airbag light came on and took car to dealer. Clock spring is faulty and needs replaced. Cost to replace is $350 according to kia dealership. I've read that kia has had a recall for this on prior models and want to file a complaint. Car only has 74k miles and should be covered under warranty since it directly impacts the safety features on this car.
Airbag light has come on, won't go off and now ehicle won't pass state inspection.
The contact owns a 2007 kia Optima. While driving 45 mph, the air bag light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact was referred to the manufacturer. The approximate failure mileage was 115,419.
Air bag light stays on. Nothing happens on the vehicle.
I bought this kia Optima new. The "passenger airbag off" light would frequently illuminate, even when a passenger was in the front passenger seat. I asked several kia dealerships about this at several different times, nothing was done about it. Now, at about 73,000 miles- the red "air bag" light on the dash came on, and stayed on permanently. I took it in to the local kia dealership, they charged me over $100 to diagnose, and if I had the repair done, the diagnostic would be waived. They called me a few hours later and informed me that the OCS computer (not just the OCS mat in the passenger seat, but the entire computer) was not functioning, and needed to be replaced. They said this would cost in the neighborhood of $2200. I didn't have the dealership do this repair for 2 reasons. . . 1) because the car is worth only $2-3,000 in the first place. 2) because even if I did pay the dealership to repair it, who's to say that it would actually be fixed? after all, there are many reports of air bag lights in kia Optimas, and even of crashes where the airbags didn't deploy. I'd either like the airbags to be repaired, or get rid of the car, but it only has 75,000 miles on it, which is a shame. I can't sell it to anyone- who wants to buy a car without airbags? OH, now the tpms sensor is on as well. I did try replacing the fuses to the airbag system and the tpms system, new fuses did not change anything. The car only has 75,000 miles on it today. It is still under the powertrain warranty, but not the bumper to bumper, which was 5 years and 60,000 miles. However, I feel that airbags should be covered.
One morning I turned the car on and the air bag light came on and has not gone off! ; (.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Optima. The contact stated that the engine indicator kept illuminating and an abnormal noise was heard from the engine compartment. The vehicle stalled. The contact was unsure if the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling) although the failures were identical. Months later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v363000 (air bags). The dealer (destination kia, 760 central Ave, albany, NY 12206, (518) 478-8036) stated that the part was not available. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the engine assembly failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2008 kia Optima. When the ignition was turned to the on position, the air bag warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seat track failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Takata recall. Light on clock area showed an off from the day I purchased the car. The suddenly on or about 3/6/2016 an indicator light showed an air bag warning. I took it into champion automotive care plus. They inspected the indicator light and contacted the manufacture and stated to replace the part it would cost over $1000. 00. The next day the light went out. Then a few days later a message came up that the passenger air bags were off. My engine was turned on, when I put it in gear the off light went on. Due to the lousy lighting the only thing you could see was the off light. The only time I was made aware there was a problem is when the indicator light went on.
Air bag light constantly stays on while driving.
Takata recall airbag light for front passenger was illuminated. Took it to dealer who put it on diagnostic unit for $95 & got light to go off for now but stated that the seat would need to be replaced to repair it at a cost of $1700. 00. Apparently this particular vehicle was not listed on the recall. Owner has the bill for this dianostic service & estimate.
On 1/11/16, I took my Optima to the kia dealership (lokey in clearwater florida) because the air bag light suddenly came on and I wanted an update on all applicable Optima models and years. I paid $135. 29 for them to just look at the problem. They informed me that my Optima has no recalls and that my driver`s side seat back needed to be replaced in order to repair the airbag problem. Parts for this alone were quoted to me to be over $1248. 71 their repair order (#26083616/1) noted that the airbag problem was "a loose connection. ".

Airbag light is consistently on which means it won't deploy during an accident, buttons on steering wheel aren't working, and steering wheel heater isn't working. Dealership claims clockspring is worn out. Previous models of Optimas have had same problem and eventually a recall was made. Hopefully this gets resolves before a wreck happens and injury is caused by this airbag defect.
Air bag lights won't turn off constantly on all the time.
Airbag light remains on showing a problem with the system. Was told could be a sensor and would cost $150 to diagnose and up to $2000 to fix. Not worth the cost considering the age but needs to be fixed for safety reasons.
My airbag light came on a few months ago when I was driving to work the light came on and have not gone off yet. I took it to get a diagnose and was told it was a sensor in the seat and I should have it replaced. Well I had someone put in a different seat and the airbag light did not go off. Now it's time for my inspections and I can't even get it done because the airbag light is still on.
My family was on hwy 75 returning from thanksgiving vacay when we discovered that the airbag light was on. After placing a call to kia, I discovered that apparently airbags aren't covered by the 130,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Now the ignition has an issue. Often times, I have to hit my key in the ignition in order to be able to turn the key. I am wondering if the ignition issue and the airbag issue are relateable and need to see if covered by warranty. There are 90,000 miles on this car and I have had it for less than a year. We purchased it used from drivetime. Thanks.
