I was driving up the 101fw north and where 405 north merges to 101 im vannuys CA. I'm going 65mph on the far left side, and my dash starts beeping and reads warning stop vehicle check brakes. My brakes go out, pedal to the floor sounding like grinding gears and doing some major damage, my acceleration stopped working. The 405 is merging on the left side so I had to avoid major traffic. I am a driver with skill as I Dodge slowed and stopped vehicles, and get to the shoulder before balboa blvd. I call for roadside assistance because kia says its free and its not. I was looking around the engine to see what the heck and unplugged the hybrid fuse and battery from back and suddenly it worked again and drive it home and right before I park I made a right turn, and it started beeping again, and this time it stayed this way. I almost lost my life, and I did lose my job because of it. Glendale's carspro kia service department is the worst department ever!, they would not help me get a tow, I paid for the tow. They charged close to 5 grand for a repair, hydraulic brake booster module, and a couple hundred for there highest service option (changing fluids, wipers, wash, detail, etc) this was a huge mistake amd took nearly two months! my car had dust on it they did not even check the pressure I had in my all 4 tires (emptied until 25psi) I started the vehicle and it started to hiccup as I idle I asked for the manager (a tall husky middle eastern guy with long hair and glasses). He replied"does your car have a check engine light on" I said "no" he said "comeback when it does. " I have received paper work from kia corp stating that I could be reimbursed. I sent that document in and never herd from them again. I call customer service I even went totheservicedpt and they erased my service record!finallyhappened, with my car still hiccuping, rareshutoffalarm. I exit fw ongreenlight, made left;alarm, nobrakes, nogas, hitcurb, nearpedestrians, transleaks, partrecalled, noresults, newproblem!.

Engine failed, check oil light or check engine light never came on. Had to put a new motor in the car and kia would not fix. Product update came on the car prior to us buying it, so we had no idea. Car stopped on a 2 lane highway with no warning, luckily noone was injured. There was a class action lawsuit regarding this issue, however it was already closed so nothing we can do. Kia is aware of the issue they should be responisble for fixing it.

When I was driving on the highway on 2/14/2011 a "check hybrid system" warning came on, check engine light, triangle hev light, a red battery light came on and car lost engine power. After my vehicle slowed traffic down due to not having power I was barely able to pull over to the side of the road by coasting the car to the shoulder. It would not accelerate what so ever not even with just the engine power. When I pulled over the big check hybrid system warning dissapeared and only the check engine light and triangle hev light stayed on. I had my children in the car and almost caused an accident. It was towed to my home and after I connected it to the wall plug for an hour the lights dissapeared. I'm afraid that if I take the car to the dealership that they wont be able to replicate this issue since the warning lights are no longer on and they tell me they cant find the issue and this happens again in the future. There are several forums where people have this same issue from 2014 hybrid models and up and has happened to them numerous times and the dealership tells them they cant duplicate the problem.

My check engine light is blinking; faulty acceleration on highway and going upgrade (uphill), vehicle jerking on local roadways; auto zone says its a faulty knock sensor. It could possibly be an issue with the engine but I'm not sure.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 kia Optima. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle began to shake and vibrate with the check engine light illuminated before going into limp mode and stalling. The vehicle was towed to the dealer south hills kia located at 3644 washington rd, mcmurray, PA 15317 who replaced the spark plugs but the engine continued to stall. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 118,000.
Driving north bound on the 405 at freeway speeds, the vehicle showed several warning lights on the dash. Check engine light, oil light and 2 others, the vehicle lost engine power and only had brakes. I was able to shuffle off the main freeway to an off ramp where I pulled over to attempt to power the car back on. The smell of electrical fire started to become apparent and I went out to lift the hood and smoke began to come out the opening. I rushed to get my kids out the vehicle and attempted to pull the battery cable off to try to salvage it from catching fire. I was able to wiggle the battery cable off but smoke continued to come out. The vehicle was eventually dropped off at the dealership car pros kia in glendale and im being informed the starter was the issue and will need to be replaced. Im uncertain about the diagnosis since the event of the vehicle losing all power occurred during highway driving .
I leased a new #kia #optima #phev from you in July of 2018. In July of 2020, the charging cable lodged in the car and it took 4 hours for roadside assistance to remove it. On December 2, 2020, I got a check engine light and made an appointment for service, but before I could bring it on Dec 3, the check engine light became a turn engine off now light, and the car stopped dead in the middle of a busy highway with a wisp of smoke from under the hood, a dangerous situation. I had it towed to kia of delray. It's still there, they haven't told me what's wrong. It is 2. 5 years old with just over 18k miles on it. I leased the car when I lived in CA, and now live in FL, which is also a problem, as the dealership here just doesn't seem equipped to service a phev. The lease is scheduled to end in July 2021 but the manufacturer has refused to offer me an option to return the car early, yet it feels unsafe to continue to drive it (and it's not operational right now).
Check engine light came on and then when trying to excellerate on the gas to enter onto the highway, the engine started bogging down and not picking up speed. Took it to o'reilly autoparts to get the engine code and it came back as a faulty boost control position sensor circuit.

I was driving 70 miles per hour on i96 when the check engine light, the battery light and the oil light came on. I was able to get to an exit but the car cut off right at the exit ramp as I stopped traffic for a mile. The car would not start again and had to be towed. I had it looked at two different places and they said it was the engine. The car is a 2015 with slightly over 100,000 miles. Regular oil changes at the dealership and there was absolutely no warning that something was wrong with my car. I had never had any problems before. The last car shop said that something came loose in the engine. I could have been killed if I did not make it to the ramp. I called the dealership and they said they have been having a lot of problems with kia and Hyundai motors.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Optima. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop and attempting to drive, the vehicle hesitated with the check engine warning light flashing. Additionally, the failure recurred while driving 60 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle had a defective knock sensor that needed to be replaced. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 166,000.
I bought my car 3 months ago. Never had any issues, make sure I do my oil and all,no lights have come on on my dash board except the airbag light as of recently. I was driving it to pick up my son and my car started to slow down and I noticed my check engine light was on so I pulled over to the gas station and checked my oil. No issue I just got an oil change the week before. My engine is knocking now. With no warning or anything.
Kia Optima 2012 abruptly powered down in middle of the busy highway with no check engine light warning. The abrupt loss of power nearly caused a vehicle to hit me from behind. After engine shut down check engine light came on and read code p1326. Car will no longer start.
I was driving down the road doing about 45 when I heard a small pop & all my dash lights came on & I lost everything. Car clicks when trying to restart but does not start. Oil light, battery light, eps light & check engine light stay on now. I was told there is a recall on these cars and would like to get it fixed ASAP as it's my only transportation.
Out of no where , my cars check engine light came on and lost compression. Wouldn't go over 40mph and I was on a busy highway so I pulled over got it towed home , did a diagnostic test and got a p1326 code which came back as a knock sensor problem.
I just purchased my 2017 kia Optima two months ago. I was driving to work today in the center lane on the highway at about 65 miles per hour. Out of nowhere without warning my car shutters and the check engine light comes on. My vehicle immediately lost acceleration and got down to about 45 mph and was falling fast. Cars were flying around me and I was afraid for my life, I had to fight my way off of the highway to get to safety. I was loosing speed the whole time and almost got into an accident. I got into a parking lot and let the car rest. I checked all my fluid and oil and everything was full/ fine. I decided it was a fluke and to take a back road to work. Big mistake. The car wouldn't go over 20 mph and I pressed the accelerator down with no luck. Then all of a sudden the accelerator worked and my car sped up to 25 mph from 15. This was also extremely dangerous. I pulled back over and called rick case kia. My boyfriend used his code reader and found out it was the knock sensor. Thats when I found out about the lawsuit. I scheduled an appointment and got a tow truck to take the car to the dealership. When I arrived I mentioned what happened and said that I just found out about the lawsuit from this issue. The one service manager freaked out that I mentioned the lawsuit in front of other customers and jumped to explaining how my car was already handled and this one issue is covered for life. This means they admitted to knowing about this life threatining recall when selling me the car. If they disclosed this crucial information that I had the right to know, I never would have bought it. They will attempt to fix it again but I am terrified to drive it.

My check engine light will come on and off and when I went to go get it checked, it came up and transmission range sensor circuit (pnrdl) input. When I put my car in park, I can't take it out until I turn my car off and turn it back on. My car has a little over 87,000 miles and should not have transmission/engine issues.

While driving on the interstate, my kia Optima stopped accelerating, we were luckily near an exit and were able to pull over to the side of the road. The lights and music stayed on but the car would not start again. There was nothing happening up to the point that would have warned us this was going to happen, the check engine light never came on. I had to get the vehicle towed home.
My vehicle is among the vehicles registered/qualifying for a recall. My dealer was to have replaced my entire engine during the first recall my vehicle received. Within a week/some 5 days or so my check engine light was back on. Taking the car back to my dealer, it was suggested that I pay $145 just for them to do a diagnostic on the/my vehicle they had just serviced. My car is currently registered/qualifies for a recall that stems and or is related to the previous recall that my car had. . . As recently as a few days ago (1/8/2020), the same dealer supposedly fixed the recent recall. I'd went by the dealership, they serviced the vehicle - check engine light went/was off. I'd say what was an hour or so having the car back in my possession from the dealer, the check engine light was back on. I'm appalled at the fact that I'm currently experiencing a issue that has been on going over a year. In my research on recalls I'm not to be charged anything by law surrounding rectifying a recall. On more than one occasion my dealer has suggested that I pay after feeling that they've rectified the problem concerning my vehicles recall. I have valid third party diagnostics that interestingly enough were free, unlike the diagnostics my dealer would suggest I pay for on a car that is surrounded by a serious recall issue. And more interesting is my having received a diagnostic that rendered the results that are the same codes surrounding the recall, and this after/on a day/ the last day - my car was serviced/supposedly fixed. I'm appalled at the suggestion that I upgrade, into a new car, pay anything, how any car having received a new engine, though 5 days later the check engine light is back on - that's scary. I have necessary documentation that can show my dealer is oblivious to public safety laws surrounding recalls due to remedies they suggested on fixing, my vehicle.
I was driving the car at about 45 mph, and suddenly the check engine light, battery, and the oil light all came on at once and my car stopped moving. Thought it was the battery or the starter at first but now I'm pretty sure its either the engine got locked up or the wires in the car just burnt up.
