Was exiting the freeway, came to a stoplight, and as continuing with driving the check engine light starts blinking and was not able to accelerate, as if it was slipping. Car would not go over around 30 mph until feeling the car not able to accelerate again. I used a code reader and got code p1326, which I had looked up and says it has something to do with a knock sensor detection system. Had bring my car in to get it checked out and was told my car had low oil, about 2 quartz. I do regular oil changes though and had done an oil change a few weeks prior. The shop I went to told me there may be a service campaign for the car. Was told specific years have had engine problems with oil, losing oil although no leaks or signs.

I did a oil change on the car after that the oil just kept leaking. I had to put 2 to 3 quarts of oil in every week. Then on my way home from taking my daughter to her appointment the car shut down on me on the highway with a semi behind me which almost hit me. I don't dive it anymore I got another car because of it.

I was driving down the road and all of a sudden it stalled on me. It won't turn over or anything. It still has almost 1500 miles on until the next oil change and the oil plug is on and tight. When I checked the oil it was not reading anything on the dip stick. The has not been any oil leaking on the ground. I was driving on a major street in my town going straight.
I have a kia 2013 optimum sxl, yesterday Aug 30 my kia out of nowhere check engine light came on then it proceeds to stop on the freeway in traffic!! while I'm going 65 now it won't start at all the check engine light come on but my engine knocks and then cuts off. Yes I did have oil in my car in fact it's on the full line so I don't understand wats going on the engine knocking really hard not leaks on my car at all even when I apply pressure to accelerate it stays on 0 then engine knocks agin and then back off I tried 3 times and had to ende up pushing my car out of traffic.
We purchased this car brand new and we have had to replace the engine and starter twice due to oil leaking through exhaust. No oil leaks on ground were visible. No lights warning low oil. Both time car broke down on road. About two years apart. We replaced parts with used motors as that's what we could afford.

My car is rapid losing oil in between regular oil changes. I have to constantly put oil in weekly and there not has there ever been any leaks. The oild is burning off way faster then it should burn. So on top of routine maintenance I have to purchase oil on top of it. The timing chain is suffering due to the engine going dry way too fast. This is a recall issue there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. This is very dangerous for someone unaware of this type of issue. The oil turns black quicker then it should as well. My mechanic said you all need to replace these right away or something bad is going to happen. It has taken a year for me to figure out how to report this issue.
I was headed from ohio to michigan and all of a sudden it won't let me accelerate anymore and I get this burning smell and then all the dash lights start flashing and then the car just completely stops I pop the hood open on the side of the road and it's leaking oil which is not my fault cause I just got the oil changed and then the car just refuses to start now I can get the lights on and stuff but as for the engine turning over it's just not gonna happen and I'm surprised kia hasn't had a recall on anything at all for these engines cause there are so many complaints about them.
Was driving and my car turned off on me randomly ? always am consistent with oil changes every 3000 miles and always make sure my take is full with good gas I've also had to replace the gas line once already ,, mechanic said I might have to replace my fuel tank because something with car not getting enough gas or so , I've also see leaks looks like gas.
My daughter's car, kia Optima 2015, had been brought in for engine repair for it died in the middle of the freeway a couple of years ago, since then, she tells me that she has been adding 3 quarts of oil every week and sometimes she finds the engine empty of oil from the dipstick. When she came home, I monitored the driveway where she parks to look for oil leakage but I didn't find any leakage of oil in my driveway. My daughter is not safe in this car, unfortunately she uses this care to go to school and we don't have the capability to purchase another car. Please look into this problem that kia Optima is undermining and overlooking. I am not the only one reporting this issue from what I have read. For the consumers, you are the only ones we can turn to in times like this. I hope that you would consider looking into this problem by kia corporation.

Oil is disappearing no leaks!! when driving the car gets a vibration then you better check the oil . Everytime at least once a week we are adding at lleadt 3 or 4 quarts of oil. Seems to be several complaints on here same problem with kia. This car is no longer safe for us to drive have an appt next week hope we get results.
My kia Optima killed while driving on the road causing me to scrape the side of my car and it started smoking finding leaking oil as well over a year ago and my car has been sitting at the kia dealership storage because they told me there wasn't a recall on my vehicle and that I would have to come out of pocket for an engine . I have come out of pocket for transportation for months and have had to pay a storage fee not knowing they were charging me until hearing from kia consumers . Now all of a sudden a recall is popping up when I look up my VIN and even my insurance company alerted me that there are in fact 3 recalls on my car. I am out of a job because of not having transportation after coming out of pocket over 3,000 for a rental I couldn't spend another dime of my savings for my family's holidays and emergency stash. I'm never looking forward to doing business with kia again. I've been so stressed mentally and physically and I'm still paying a car note for a car I can't drive.
I was driving and heard some knocking and smelled an exhaust like smell, after getting off the highway and stopping at a stop light, the car would not accelerate pass 25 mph when pressing on the gas pedal and would stutter & hesitate. I stopped for a diagnosis at the closest car shop. After their evaluation they thought it could be the transmission but since they were a oil change & tire shop they could not help. Since the car was drivable, I thought I could make it back home very slowly, I drove no more than an 1/2 mile and could not accelerate pass 10 mph. I parked the car and had it towed to another auto repair shop 3 miles away. Outcome, they resealed timing cover which included replacement of front crank seal, valve cover gasket and cleaned residual engine oil from engine. Also, resealed lower oil pan and replaced oil and air filter and cleaned residual engine oil. Even after this repair, they test drove the car and verified the car would not accelerate pass 30 mph and would stutter and hesitate. They informed me that it maybe the hybrid system. I went online regarding the hybrid system(still under the factory warranty of 100,000)and noticed a recall on the non-hybrid kia Optima with my same experience. I had it towed to the dealership close to my house. The dealership performed a diagnosis and their findings were could not duplicate customer's concern at this time, there was no oil leak found on the engine and vehicle drive properly during road test. my car has been sitting for over 11 months. I did take it to the dealership recently for inspection & emission, passed as car had less than 5,000 miles from last service. However,on the way home, 1. 2 miles away, the hybrid system warning light came on safely stop and do not drive. I put on the hazard lights and made my way home as I was half-way, the car has been sitting since. Please recallmake this right.
I have a 2015 kia Optima purchased in October 2017 with 34k miles approx. I am constantly putting oil in my car and it seems to evaporate in 2-3 days. There is no leak and we have no idea why the car is consuming so much oil. Lately the car has been knocking and when accelerating to merge onto highway, the vehicle starts to sputter and begins to stall. I do not feel safe in this vehicle with my children and no longer use this vehicle on a daily basis. After doing some research, I find that this year vehicle has the most overall consumer complaints and there still has yet to be a recall on the engine? I do not understand why kia skipped this year?? let alone blame consumers that it's their fault for not following the maintenance schedule, yet when told the schedule has been followed, will find some other lame excuse so the manufacturer is not at fault. What is it going to take to have this engine recalled? we as consumers, myself, a single hard working parent, do not have the means to buy another vehicle just because kia says it's not their fault. This problem started beginning of April 2019, my vehicle has 52k.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Optima. While driving, the vehicle leaked oil and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to shottenkirk kia of west burlington (309 south gear avenue, west burlington, IA 52655, (319) 249-6627) and the oil filter was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer stated that they could replace the engine if it failed. The failure mileage was 137,000. The VIN was not available.
The engine started consuming large amount of oil 10 months ago when it was about 170,000 miles in it. That is, the oil goes below the low mark when the car is driven about 800 miles after the oil change, and keeps going down to the empty level when the car is driven about 1,200 miles. I also hear of rattling-like sound when accelerating. I have to check and add oil every 500 miles. I was recently told that this issue may lead to the fire on the engine and noticed that kia recalled regarding this similar issue for many other cars. I didn't see any signs of leaking when I checked several times the floor in a spot where I parked. I'm not sure if this was related, but the engine died, about 4- months before I noticed that the engine started consuming oil, when I drove up hill. The car was towed in to a kia dealership in that area, and what a technician said is that there was a problem with fuel line or pump. They charged $700 for this job.
Excessive oil usage. Using two quarts of oil in a week. No leaks at all, anywhere.
While driving the kia on the highway after getting repaired for cracking the transmission due to running over a median the car engine seized while in full motion on the highway. Going 65mph engine stopped and car came to a stop after driving 5 miles from the shop. I called the roadside assistance to come tow the car. They took it to the nearest kia dealership which I had called and explained I was about to take the car into be checked out for the recall notice I had received. The shop had told me it could have been the timing chain but when I was on the phone with the man in the kia dealership he stated that a piece of came off in the oil pan and went into the engine. When I asked him if this had something to do with the recall he stated no. I don't know I think it had to have had something to do with the recall how else would there be anything in the oil pan or come loose in the engine like that. My car has been totaled out I no longer have a vehicle to drive. There's no way that running over a curb could make the engine completely seized up. Plus I had driven the car a week before, it had drove just fine, a little rough however was still leaking transmission fluid for the new transmission so I sent it back to the shop. Now the second time I get it from the shop that's when it breaks down on the side of the road do to a seizing engine. Sure makes me question it.
My 2011 kia Optima is consuming large quantities of oil. I have received 10 oil changes since February 2018 (oct as of today) after my car's oil light would blink every 1000 miles when driving. The dealer said their was no visible leak and performed a consumption test which showed my car was consuming oil at an alarming rate. This issue has been identified as a know problem with Kia Motors and has yet to addressed.
Car stalled for no reason while sitting idle at an intersection. It was towed to the kia dealership in san diego. The first day, the dealership claimed it found nothing wrong and there were no error codes. The next day, it claimed to find a hole in the oil pan. It refused to start the car again until we paid $500 to fix it. There was no oil in its parking space or the place where that it stalled. We took it to another mechanic who found the hole. He said there was more than sufficient oil to turn it over, and if the hole has been there long, all of the oil would have leaked out. We suspect the dealer did this intentionally to create an excuse to avoid paying for a new engine if it turned out to have metal shavings and catastrophic failure like so many other Optimas.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Optima. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed oil leaking from underneath. The vehicle was taken to kia of des moines (located at 4475 merle hay rd, des moines, IA 50310, (515) 270-0706) where it was diagnosed that the oil feed line that entered the turbo needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,000.
Turbo and turbo oil return line is defective. Leaks oil and over heats engine. Dealerships admit this is a serious issues that they've seen daily with the sx models but refuse to address it until a recall comes out. Anytime the vehicle is driven, it constantly leaks oil. Whenever it is parked, it leaks oil. It's only from the turbo feed line.
My 2012 kia Optima was found to have a leaking oil line which feeds lubrication oil from the engine to the turbocharger. This occurred at 58,000 miles, well within the 100,000 mile warranty for the drive train. However, the dealer informed me that the oil supply line was not covered by the warranty, but the engine and turbo were. The loss of this line would result in the failure of the engine due to no oil, as well as the turbo, and this was most likely to fail when under acceleration in traffic as that is when the load on these components is greatest. Failure of the engine at this time could result in catastrophic consequences in heavy traffic. Even if the line did not fully fail, the leaking oil is located at the turbo housing which is part of the exhaust system and is likely, after some time, to result in an engine fire which would likely destroy the car. Since this component, the oil supply line connects the engine and the turbo I find that it is an essential part of the drive train and should be covered by the manufacturer under the warranty. It also is a severe potential hazard to the driver of the vehicle. I wish to enter my concerns to the NHTSA.

The contact owns a 2016 kia Optima. While driving various speeds, the vehicle accelerated independently and the engine rpms drastically increased to 6 or 7. The contact also stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated and there was a burning odor coming from the engine. In addition, the vehicle was leaking oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cvt valve needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the vehicle was number 75 on the waiting list for the repairs and provided a loaner vehicle. Two days later, the contact was informed by the dealer that they performed an interim repair and that the vehicle could be driven. The dealer ordered the part for a permanent repair. The contact felt unsafe driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.
I purchased this vehicle used in may 2016. I have only had one oil change and the car has 40,000 miles. I was driving the car at 55 mph. The vehicle cut off and I coasted to the edge of the road. Vehicle was towed to kia dealership. They dealership advised that the engine is blown and no oil was inside. No warning lights, no oil leaks but they won't pay.
In March 2016, our kia Optima seized on the onramp to the I-10 speed going at 45 mph without any warning. When it stalled the car in back of us nearly hit us. There was no warning the engine was failing as in signs or warning light. After getting towed to the mechanic, the inspection found that only 1 cup of oil was found in the engine. The engine had no signs of engine problems or oil leak. Maint. Per owner's manual was done since I bought the car brand new in 2011. We were very lucky no one was hurt seriously and was grateful that we were able to move to the shoulder with no power. Kia did not assist in anyway as goodwill due to fact we were just outside of the warranty. Please investigate this safety issue with kia engines.
I had my oil change and two days later the oil light came on so I took it back to pit stop 500 and he's said it was low so he check the car said he didn't see any oil leaks if the oil light comes on again take it to kia. When I left there while I was driving I could see white smoke coming out my pipes. I took it to the kia dealership and they said the oil was low put oil in it again and said drive it 500 miles and if the oil light come on bring it back. While driving it home it stalled it wouldn't go over 30 miles and white smoke was coming out the pipes so I made a appointment and took it back now the dealership says it is sludge in the oil. I had did some research and discover ten kia with the same exact problem and six of them are kia Optima.
