They put damages on me I got stranded multiple times in highway freeway interstate side streets for all issues engine problems that happened to me I couldnt get recovery justice then July 17 2024 I had traffic collision accident iam notat fault I was being interogated by kemper insurance investigators trying to access my vehicle imformation data when their client hit my car from behind I was with mother we bought had whiplashed backpain went straight to e. R until now they wont give me peace of mind I suffered the worst pain information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Driving at approximately 60mph on expressway, gave a little more gas to pass someone and engine stalled while switching lanes at high speed. Informed by kia dealership that there was a failure of the connecting rod bearing/s.

Mine is a 2012 kia Optima lx 2. 4l and I did find out that anything from 2011 up to a 2015 kia Optima has engine recalls for the vehicle stalling out an the engine seizing up because of a manufacturing defects in the engine.

Kia kirby ventura has removed (2) or more active dangerous recalls from VIN# of the vehicle that is unfortunately in my nane. Recall 1, steering wheel mdps unit. I have a letter notification dated April 24 2017 no recall#. Plus recall 18v363000 air bag control unit that should apply but never received recall notice. Recall#17v224 engine stall/freeze issue I have recall notifice plus a notice from the united states district court for the central district of California abt specific recall that does effect car. I made 2 attempts at kia kirby ventura last year, before covid19, to get engine recall fixed car was experiencing symptoms as described almost casued serious accidents on freeway. I was denied by service manager david bodjanac since dealership, during 2nd visit to have engine recall fixed, kia kirby ventura removed recall from VIN# asked me where did I get recall notice from? engine issue not fixed. Fast forward to today, thurs 10/15/20 early evening im coming up to corner engine stalled twice as I was slowing down approching, turning. Luckily I was driving at slower rate of speed. Coming out of turn car ultimatly made into my parking lot w/out crashing luckily no one was out walking. Engine car froze. Luckily in front of parking space, managed to force car in parking spot. Now disputing w/kia kirby ventura, sm david bodjanac, who denied engine recall or any recall. Kia kirby ventura service w/undoubtedly tell me issue w/car has nothing to do w/any recalls. Had I been on fwy which I drive on 2, 3 times a day or been driving at higher rate of speed on street as I was I would have been killed. Kirby kia ventura said they w/give 0 for car not running due to recall but still in good condition fully loaded. If car running they mite give me $5500-$6000max. . Per kb not running cars value $6923- $8852 in fair condition /mechanical issues & $7851-$9790 in good condition.

Kia Optima on 2. 4l engine is the same Hyundai have issues, those cars are all the same, the hybrid battery have both names, my engine is knocking and my car has no recalls on engine, but my friend have a Hyundai that he have full replacement, I replace the hybrid big battery to keep my car and after couple weeks, my engine knocking, the car is super clean and used engine cost almost 3k installed.

As I was driving on the highway approximately 65 mph the engine began to stall not allowing any power while pushing on the gas pedal. The service manager at kia explained to me that they found a pin in the engine that was supposed to be r removed but never was causing this to cause major damage to my engine and head gasket.

I purchased a brand new 2018 kia Optima in November 2018. I have put approximately 22,500 miles on it and have been keeping up with updated oil change maintenance per the schedule recommended by the dealer. On Saturday 9/28 I dropped the car off for a routine oil change, and as I drove it off the lot it sputtered as if it was going to die, but it didn't. The car continued to run and it got me home. The next day, Sunday 9/29, it drove without problems for about an hour, but while driving the car completely powered down and stopped working. It was a terrifying experience as I was in the middle of a major city road and almost caused a serious accident. I put the car into park and was able to start it back up, and I was lucky enough not to be struck by another vehicle. The dealership was closed at this time so I called them first thing Monday 10/1 to report the issue and dropped it off. The dealership is claiming to be unable to recreate the issue so ready to give me the car back. This is a huge safety concern and I can't believe we as consumers have to put our lives at risk to wait for the problem to happen again before any recourse can be taken. From my research on the internet, it is very common for the dealership not to be able to recreate the problem so unable to provide a fix. Kia had 5+ years of engine stall problems that were not acknowledged until many years later, and the dealership certainly will not validate this. Furthermore, when the engine stalls, the power steering and brakes both go out, so you have nothing but prayers to rely on to keep you alive.

This concerns kia recall sc147. I have a 2013 kia Optima ex that I purchased used with 98,000 miles on it in February 2019. The car drove perfect without any problems. I recently had the oil changed in June. A couple of weeks later the motor started knocking slightly for no reason after a recent trip to memphis, tennessee. The engine stalled in traffic so I put it in neutral and I was able to crank it back up. The next morning it was really knocking loudly so I took it to a mechanic who stated the engine was trying to throw a rod.

The vehicle had been previously inspected by a kia dealer under the sc147 engine recall on 9/22/2017 (16+ months earlier) at odometer 89,547 miles and evidently passed the inspection procedure per kia's TSB. I believe debris from the engine manufacturing process blocked oil lubrication passageways not only to the engine bearings, but also to the oil pressure sensor. I do not believe the inspection procedure developed by kia to determine whether the engine is ok or needs to be replaced is 100% effective.

I have an 06 Optima (06. 5/ ms) 2. 4 engine but the problem im having juging from kia internet forums is spread acros meney years and models it is an intermitant engine stall it can happen at any time ive had it happen at 65mph on interstate this is followed by a series of start stall then it will run fine for a while ive had a complete wire harness check reaced several sensors and other parts nothing has cured the problem it should be recalled and repaired by kia before some one gets hurt not after. This is a totally random happening.

My car hesitate when pulling out in the street . . Happens often and when the engine is at normal temp, not when cold. It starts out for about 3 feet then the engine stalls, does not quit running, just stall for 3 to 5 seconds. Give it gas and nothing, then all at once it takes off. Very danerous. Some days it performs great then the next it starts the hesitation again. Making an appt to take it back in to have it checked next week.

Started hearing my engine knocking the night before. Knocking still evident, followed shortly by 2 engine stalls on the highway! vehicle had to sit abandoned overnight until a tow could be arranged, which resulted in cancelling an out-of-state move!.

I was notified by kia earlier this year that my vehicle was involved in a recall because the engine could seize causing a safety issue. On 6/12/17 I took my Optima to camelback kia for recall work and inspection. On 8/1/2017 as I was driving northbound on az sr51, my engine stalled while moving about 40 mph in rush hour traffic. I then pulled over to restart my vehicle, a short time later I noticed smoke coming from under the hood. I was told by kia upon their inspection that the starter is where the fire originated due to the seized engine. The vehicle burned and is now a total loss. This caused a 3 lane closure on the freeway at 5pm as well as a crash due to spectators.

While I was driving on the city streets I was preparing to make a left turn and the light was about to turn red, so as I was in the middle of the intersection my car's engine just completely stalled on me and I could not accelerate while my car was slowly rolling through the intersection with oncoming traffic which created a dangerous situation for me. This happened to me a second time again while I was taking a left turn with on coming traffic there was no lights or stop signs posted on this particular road and my car just lost power while I was still in the middle of the road in motion, which caused another dangerous situation for me and the other drivers where they either had to slam on their brakes or quickly change lanes to avoid hitting my stalled car.

I was on interstate 65 I was going about 55mph and began to accelerate when the vehicles engine stalled. There were cars coming from behind I quickly got over into the emergency lane and came to a stop. There were no warning lights that came on prior to this occurring. I never heard any type of knocking from the engine either. It was a terrifying moment having the car stop for some unknown reason. 4 days later there as was an announcement of a recall from kia regarding the connector rod. I have been told the motor is locked up but no one has told me why. Kia corporation has been slow to respond. They have said that its not an official recall until the end of may. They have provided me with a case number but the case specialist has yet to call me back.

While driving vehicle at approximately 45 mph, engine stalls in middle of busy highway. Was able to get vehicle to side of road in the rain. Vehicle would not start and was towed to dealer. Dealer calls to say engine is blown at 37k miles. Dealer was last to perform oil change. No issues were noted at that time. Awaiting to hear if engine is covered by extended engine warranty that was issued by kia as they are well aware of this problem and has known for several years.

I was driving my 3 yr old kia Optima at 55 mph on a two way road with no shoulder and the engine suddenly and violently started knocking and shaking. I lost all power to the car and was nearly hit from behind as I slowly tried to come to stop on the side of the road with no power. It was scary as heck and I am glad to be alive. My car has been sitting at the dealership for 5 months as I try to save enough money to have a new engine installed. I still owe $8,000. 00 for this car and the kia dealership wants $8000. 00 to put a used engine in it.

I was driving home from work at a speed of 45 mph when I heard some knocking. As I slowed to an intersection the noise stopped until I accelerated once again. Got back up to 40-45 mph and all the engine lights came on and the car stalled. I was able to coast to the side of the road I was on during rush hour. Not real safe! at which point the car started smoking and smelling like an electrical fire. I opened the hood and white smoke was pouring out. The vehicle was then towed to kia dealership and the service department was already closed. I called in the morning and asked about the electrical smell. He said is most likely a blown motor. ??? he didn't look at the vehicle yet and told me it's a blown rod in the motor?? later that day I stopped into the kia dealership to see if it was looked at yet. They told me it won't be looked at until tomorrow. He did say that he went out to see if it would start and said it didn't turn over and he can guarantee it's the blown rod. That's without a mechanic looking at it. Kia knows these engines are crap and is choosing to give people the run around. I am the original owner of the car and he first couldn't find me in the computer. That was the first thing I showed him when I walked in the door was my copy from the dealership. All of a sudden he found me in the system. He also said since I service the car's oil myself I have to provide all the records when I purchased oil and filters otherwise the 100k warranty would be void. We don't keep the receipts of all that for 4 years! it's factory defect just like the Hyundai sonata's. This is obviously a known issue and it's sad that kia is putting the blame on the customers instead of taking responsibility for a factory defect. No car with 74k miles on it with proper maintenance should have the engine just blow! my 2005 suburban with 150k runs great! thanks, jeff.

I was able to pull off to the side of a busy road. I could not start the car back up. I had the car towed to a local dealership where they stated there was no oil in the engine and there was sludge. I knew that I had maintained upkeep on the car. They stated they would not honor a replacement engine warranty. I had the car towed to our local garage. There I had a used engine installed in my car for a total cost of $4,300. I was able to drive the car. In April I received a notice/recall in the mail from kia stating that there was a rod in the engine which caused the engine to lock up and shut down to immediately take my car to get that replaced. I had already put a used engine in. I was instructed to send all documentation to kia for proof of an engine installed and all labor and costs done to my car out of my wallet and I would get reimbursed. Since then, I have had nothing but excuses and reasons why I shouldn't be receiving a reimbursement. There should be no reason I need to provide any documentation but I provided a highlighted checking account statement for proof of purchase of the engine, install of the engine, inspection and emissions, proof of purchase of the vehicle and towing records. The letter from kia clearly states that I should have it repaired by them and not on my own dime. Unfortunately I had to take out a loan for the engine and install and had no vehicle until mid February when the used engine I ordered was installed. I still to this day am told I will not receive my reimbursement. I have attempted to continuously call kia, only to be hung up on each time.

Vehicle experiences the same issues that are also happening on Hyundai sonatas with their engine recalls. While traveling at highway speeds of 50-60 mph and then accelerating, the engine may sometimes jerk/sputter as if about to stall. This may be due to the fact that the engines were not cleaned properly while being manufactured, leaving mechanical debris within, as stated by the Hyundai engine recall investigation. This can become a major concern as the car could potentially become unresponsive on the highway or even slow down/ stop suddenly in the case that the engine may stall.

2011 kia Optima driving home on expressway engine started knocking and seized up, pretty much froze the steering and had to fight to get to shoulder. Kia has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. A letter was sent in mail claiming issues with bearings crankshaft pistons on the 2. 0 turbo and 2. 4 gdi motors , so kia bumped up warranty to 10 years 120,000. I have 120,722 kia says they wont warranty even though I am this close. Also kia and Hyundai are sister companies and Hyundai put the same in engines in there sonata a recalled 400,000 plus engines and kia has not recalled one. If there is an issue and there claiming there is one by extending warranty shouldn't it be fixed under a certain amount of time. I've read that engines tend to stall at around 100,000 to 120,00 miles.

Trying to avoid another vehicle approaching me in a head on collision, my engine began to stall, brakes locked up which caused suspension issues of the vehicle. Due to this, the vehicle was completely totaled and global lending services is consistently reporting it as a repossession. Both vehicles were in motion and it was on a la hwy.
