At approximately 120k miles, we randomly checked the oil prior to taking a road trip and noted the dip stick was dry. The car was down several quarts of oil. No oil light ever came on. Since then the car has been evaluated by more than one mechanic with no leaks found. The car has had routine maintenance as recommended since it was purchased. It requires a quart of oil about every 500-700 miles.

Suddenly at 95000 miles engine started to use oil but it's not burning it or any leaking from engine. I have to check oil weekly and will need a quart ever 800 to 1000 miles. After reading many posts on this subject all are having the exact same issues as we are. Kia will not take ownership for this problem and terrible engine design. They need to be held responsible for this issue.
On cold start up, car expels grayish-blue smoke. Has a strong rattle, like bearings rattling, then subsides once engine is warm. Car does not leak oil, has had routine maintenance. Has never over-heated. Found recall # sc147 which appears to detail bearing issue but is not listed as a recall for my VIN#. Fear of fire or engine seizing.

Approximately 1 month ago my car sounded rough so I checked the oil and nothing showed on the dipstick. I put oil in it and since have had to add more, also now my mechanic has diagnosed the alternator is going. Oil shows up in the tailpipe which means the engine is using oil, it is not a leak. I am so disappointed as I bought it only one year ago and I use it for my living. I am expecting more problems and don't know how to proceed.

I took the car to the kia dealership and they tell me the engine has an oil leak. I believe their kias sportage 2011 & 2012 were also recalled for the same issue. The car has less than 100,000 miles on it and I have owned several cars before and never had an oil leak on the engine at all. They said the repairs were going to cost over $1000 to repair. I believe this car should also be recalled due that they have a history of other models having the same problem. Thank you.

Takata recall: I purchased my call Feb. 11, 2017 and starting may I started having all kind of electrical problems. Fused kept blowing open every other day. Now fast forward to 2018 I go in for an oil change and find that my engine is leaking oil. The mechanic tells me that I need to replace the engine ASAP. My car has been parked for the passed two weeks.
Every time I get an oil change there's no oil in my car there is also no leak at all I've always got my oil change early or on time.
The engine began consuming noticeable amounts of oil around 80,000 miles. Confirmed no leaks or defects where present with mechanics & dealership. At 100,00 miles the engine burns off 4-5 quarts in less than 1000 miles. This requires constant monitoring, risk of engine failure, & high cost of maintenance.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Sorento. The contact purchased the vehicle on August 15, 2018. A couple of days later, the check engine indicator illuminated, the vehicle would not accelerate on the highway, and the vehicle shook. Galeana Chrysler Jeep kia (180 greystone blvd, columbia, SC 29210, (803) 779-7300) performed a diagnostic test and cleared some of the codes that appeared; however, the failures recurred. On another occasion, when the vehicle was started, a booming sound was heard from the engine compartment. An independent mechanic stated that some screws detached from the cam timing shaft and the vehicle was leaking oil. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but they stated that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. The contact was referred to the manufacturer who also stated that the vehicle was out of warranty since it had over 60,000 miles. The dealer stated that the vehicle had a history of code misfires and needed a new engine. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph the crankshaft broke off completely and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic who confirmed the issue. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer kia store clarksville 826 e lewis and clark pkwy, clarksville, in 47129 (866) 545-2429 and the crankshaft was replaced and repaired. Afterwards the vehicle had been leaking oil from the camshaft seal . The manufacturer stated that further repairs were not covered under warranty. The contact stated that there was a class action lawsuit settlement and was sent a claim form. The settlement only included vehicles under warranty and the contact appealed the decision but was denied. The failure mileage was 123,000. Tf.

First it started with drivers door not working. I can't get in the driver door because the handle doesn't work. So I have been crawling thru the passenger door to get in the car. But now I can't do that because the passenger door won't open from the outside either. You pull on the door handle and it does nothing. What if there were a fire and I was in the car and someone ran up to get me out they would not be able to open the doors. Next problem is I have an extensive oil leak in the car. So bad it keeps dripping down on the alternator whicheck has forced me to replace that twice now. I took it to kia and they said it was the timing chain cover. It would cost 2,000. 00 to fix. I looked online and found out that a lot of other people are having the same issue and it seems the timing chain cover is a misdiagnosis. Apparently the oil sensor is the culprit. It malfunctions because of its location in the engine. I don't have 2000. 00 just to play a guessing game. This problem needs a recall. Lastly, due to the engine issues the oil leaking the car has now decided if I'm driving 60 mph it will all of the sudden shift the engine almost to a dead stop and then you feel as if you will fly thru the windshield because now the car won't go out of fourth gear manually or automatic. Please help.

My 2014 kia sorrento ex started leaking massive amounts of oil at 99,000 miles. The undercarriage and the back of my car are covered in oil from the leak that started while driving. Have taken it to the dealership where I purchased it last year. It is the oil pressure sending unit. It will be a $300 repair. When I asked if this was a normal issue with vehicles, he said it was not. I went to look for a recall on this item and found forum's where others had complained about a similar issue at lower mileage but no recall.
After just having a faulty starter replaced on this car (which they charged us over $800 to do, and they refuse to pay for it, even though it is their issue), we started to notice the oil light would go on and off while stopping. We then noticed oil leaking, contacted kia, after we looked up the issue we see this was a known issue with the oil pressure sensor leaking, which a recall was issued for canada but not u. S. (even though they come from the same plant). They charged us over $300 to do, they will not pay for it. They refuse to assist us with any issue.
My main rear seals of my engine began to leak oil.
My engine has no leaks of oil yet ran out of all but 1 qt, and caused my to get spun bearings, and now engine is ruined. This is less than a 4 year old car and no indicator lights ever came on saying I was low on anything. Also just had major fluids all changed in car less than 6 months ago. It is over the 100,000 warranty so now I have to get a new engine. Looking to see if this is an issue with any other owners. The engine is the v6 engine, the smaller engine was recalled for similar issues, yet mine wasnt in the recall.
My 2013 kia Sorento should become a part of the recall that is currently involving Kia Motors. We changed our oil and noticed it to be what my husband called a bit lumpy. Took our car into the local garage and they told us there was a leak on the top of the motor. We planned on fixing this the following payday, but instead left the dealership to a high pitched squeal and that was it the car never moved again. The rods were shot and caused motor to seize. Our local garage, bending wrenches believes there is evidence to support our claim. We have paid for a new engine to be placed in vehicle and are hoping to become a part of this recall and be reimbursed for this manufacturer defect. We have all paperwork from garage and also kept the oil that had been changed from the kia showing that there is probably little fleks of the metal from the rods in this oil which caused it to become lumpy. Not sure where else to turn for help with this claim.
The contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact noticed smoke coming from the vehicle and discovered that it was low on oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the bearing was faulty and caused an oil leak. There was sludge in the motor, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campiagn number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling) as a possible solution to the failure; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.
No oil leak but every oil chang there is no oil steering is just not right.
Engine failure engine stopped in middle of highway traveling at 55 mph straight highwayput family in danger 2016 June oil leaking all over ground and electrical failure pushed car to side of highway . 140000 mile past warranty kia refuse to fix.
Had oil light go on when I would take off from a stop but would turn off when I stop. I called the dealer and took it in and was told that the oil filter was put in wrong. The dealer put a new one on and did all the test to make sure it was working proper. Nine day later I had a oil leak and called the same dealer and was told to come back in. The service manager then told me the because someone else had done other oil changes on the car I would have to pay for any repairs if the other place would not. When I asked about the part being under warranty the service manager told me that this part was not under warranty. The service also told me that even if the dealer did the oil change after the first one that kia would not warranty it. So now I will get a bill over 900 dollars and still not know if I have a engine that will work .
Vehicle began leaking oil, oil light came on. Refilled with oil to try and find the leak without success. Mechanic found a bad oil pressure switch. The oil pooled up in a valley in the engine. This valley had a manufactured hole in the top of it and that's were the oil was dumping out onto the ground. Made it appear that it was a rear main seal leak.
