Software Problems of Kia Motor Sorento

Last July my husband had changed my brakes and then went for a test drive just to make sure everything was working properly. Well, the engine shut off in the middle of driving. Called kia and had it towed there(unreimbursed) replaced engine told them that sometimes the transmission would hesitate to shift into gear. Kia said nothing was wrong. Now, a year later still trans problem. Took to master mechanic that has a trans shop and that has been in business for over 40 years. He said it needed a software update from kia for a hard transmissikn shift. Called kia they said they had to "research problem", but had never heard of this happening. Also, my car shuts off if I have to do a hard brake even after my engine being replaced. Also, my gas lid wont open, my mirrors had stopped moving and my windows all stopped working. Having major electrical problem with fuse box. Apparently something is not grounded correctly kia and is shorting out all my fuses. But I have to pay all this money to have a car that is barely that old have so many problems. If I could sue them for damages under lemon law I would. Very upset and scared to drive car and I have a ten year that is always in the car with me. Please investigate.

Takata recall my 2014 kia Sorento SUV awd engine it ried to stalled in the middle of the highway on me as I was driving on the highway at 65 mph at the exit it stopped at the light. Even though I took my kia in the dealership to have a software updated (ksda) in the begining of this year 2019. I was all most in a car crash from this. Becasue cars on the highway were coming my way to get off I was so scared. I called kia dealership. I was told that my truck was not on the recall list. I knew it was becasue my truck had all the symptoms. I was told to drive it to the dealership even through I express my concern that it was something wrong with the engine I was still told to drive the truck in. The person on the phone did not even care I could have been in a really bad accident as cars were drving 65mph. So I asked my husband to take it in. He did. Kia said that they will look at it and let me know by the end of the day. Day 1 no one called day 2 I called kiaa tech said someone will call me mid afternoon. After day 2 no one called mid afternoon of day 2 so on day 3 I had to call to see what was going on then I was told kia would replace my engine with a brand new engine not a refurbuised engine. But I dont think that will fix the problem. . I saw these recalles months before this happened for other SUV's like mine. I looked everyday on the website starting in Jan 2019 with my VIN # nothing I am concern becasue after reserach I noticed that even though kia fixes the problems of the engine it stalked again on other customers. I am so scared to get back in that truck. I also had an appiontment schedule to fix the door locks due to recall not unlocking or locking on the recall webiste before all this engine stuff. I mention this to the kia tech which he said do not worry we will fixed that too. .

1) the vehicle has stalled out six (6) times during my ownership. This has occurred after stopping. I was able to restart the vehicle four of the six times by stopping, putting the vehicle in park, and pressing the "start" ignition button. Two of the six times the gear was locked into drive and neutral only. The vehicle would also not shut off. Both times 911 was called for California highway patrol assistance was contacted as I was stranded on the freeway. This occurred on 2/20/14 and 6/03/14. On 5/17/14 the vehicle was brought into the kia car pros carson facility for the 60,000 mile maintenance and passed with no issues. 2) the backup camera flutters intermittently (about 10-15 times a month) mostly in the morning on start up and sometimes at night. Kia of cerritos had replaced the navigation/radio module 3 times, but official records show it was replaced only twice. This has not rectified the issue as it still persists. 3) the radio inconsistently (about 2-5 times a month) does not start for about 20 seconds after starting the vehicle up. I am not confident that the issues are resolved and I fear for the safety of myself and all who ride in the vehicle. The kia car pros carson facility replaced the drive assist part and cleaned the electrical contacts for the first incident in Feb 2014. I was told this would rectify the issue. On 6/03/14, I was told a software update to the ecu (electrical control unit) was performed, but they do not guarantee that the problem has been resolved. I want the facility to retain my vehicle and perform a full diagnostic on the vehicle until they can guarantee that it will not stall and lock up on me again. Corporate kia said the vehicle can be released and the facility will not investigate any further. I do not believe kia is taking this matter seriously.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 kia Sorento. The contact stated that uvo system feature would sporadically become inoperable without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the uvo system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired three times however, the failure recurred. In addition, the contact stated that the interior light failed to turn off but the technician informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The failure recurred and the dealer diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the vehicle failed to start without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the battery was replaced however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000. Ss.

A day after I purchased a new kia Sorento ex gdi 2013 (9/25/2012), I noticed that it had rough idle at stop. I took my car to dealership to fix the rough idle issue next day, however after 4 days of troubleshooting by mechanic with kia support engineer, they were not able to resolve it. TSB#122 (ecm software upgrade) was alreay applied prior to my purchase. Even today, I still have the same issue. My current mileage is 2800 miles.

This is my wife's vehicle, but given the issue she is afraid to drive it. . . . . Driving up hill with my foot on the gas pedal at 50 mph. My vehicle lost power ( as if I slammed on the brake ) my body went forward and was stopped by the seatbelt. My head whipped downward. Then the vehicle surged forward. My head and body slapped back into the seat. It was so abrupt and violently. It will scare you to death. This has happened to many times over the last year to count. I have tried to document the events in a journal because the dealer has been able to duplicate it only once. Some days it can happen up to 3 times a day for weeks on end. Some times I can duplicate it driving up hill and sometimes nothing. The worst times are when merging into traffic or when someone is following to close behind me. My fear is that I will hurt another motorist or a passenger in my vehicle. A term called " limp mode " has been said to me. Where the transmission shifts to a hi gear to protect it from damage. My vehicle still does this at least once every other day. I have been to the dealer 14 times. The tranny was replaced a year ago and a backfire code was found recently. A computer software update that didn't help was the last thing done in over a year, unless you count paying for rental vehicles doing something. There is also a suspension/steering issue. A hard pulling left/right and bump steer. The vehicle will pull the steering wheel out of your hand in turns and veers as it hits bumps.
