Check Engine Light On problems of the 2014 Kia Motor Soul

On April 13, 2021 kia completed the recall for catalytic converter and and computer system recall/update. On April 13, 2021 I was traveling out of town when there was a rotten smell coming from the car. Then under the driver's seat started to feel warm, like it was heating up. The car then violently jerked and the rpm dropped suddenly and the car started shaking and sputtering and smoking from the exhaust, the check engine light began flashing as well. I got off on highway 151 in metter georgia and pulled over to a local gas station. I turned the car off and tried to call for help but didn't have a phone signal in the area. I had the car looked at by a local mechanic and was told that the catalytic converter failed causing the engine coil 3 to misfire because more than likely the part was faulty. The spark plugs were wet because the oil and fuel mix from what was described to me as blowback from the catalytic converter clogging the engine. The car doesn't go past 2000 rpms and it has little to no acceleration. Once kia got the car they're saying it could take almost 30 days to diagnose the car on their end. They're also saying that they possibly won't cover the engine work because the recall only covers the catalytic converter. I dispute that because the catalytic converter is the cause of the engine damage.

A check engine light associated with the code p050a continues to repopulate on my fault codes. I have taken this to the dealership several times and been charged money out of my pocket with no resolution. I am concerned about the drivability of the vehicle and any future issues that may arise as a result of this check engine light.

The contact was able to restart the vehicle and took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where she had her oil topped off. The contact then took the vehicle to parkside kia(9929 parkside dr, knoxville, TN 37922) where she was informed that her vehicle was not under the recall NHTSA campaign number: 20v750000 ( engine) because the side of the engine that was damaged was not covered under recall. The contact then received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v750000 (engine) however, the dealer still refused to service her vehicle under the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the recall and after months of deliberation, they sided with the dealer and informed her that her vehicle would not be covered under the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 109,000. Jo.

I am receiving a p0420 odbii code. I see that an issue with catalytic converters has been reported. The check engine light came on while driving.

I was driving my 2014 kia Soul in the freeway when the car started to shake and lacked on acceleration and dropped speed from 70 mph to 40 mph, check engine light turn on so I pulled to side of the road and got the car towed to my house. The next day I took the car to the dealership and found that it's an engine issue and need to be replace.

While I was driving my car from las vegas, nv to hemet, CA after exiting the freeway I pulled up to a stop sign. I stopped, then proceeded to put my manual vehicle into 1st gear took off, switched to second, no problem, then third and then my car turned off on it's own and I could not get it to restart. It has been non operable since December 24, 2020. There were no check engine lights or anything else, it just stopped running while I was driving and won't start again.

My fiance and I were driving we pulled onto the busy highway in joplin missouri the car just stalled out and died out of nowhere. . No check engine lights no warnings just died would not start back up my fiance finally got it to start back up it made it two miles then stalled again in the middle of a busy intersection!! I had my two girls with me it was pouring rain we had to push the vehicle to safety!! stuck with tow fees shop fees now only to find out a week after this happened that a recall has been put out for the same thing that happened to us!! we called kia immediately they refuse to do anything and want us to pay again to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership so their mechanic can install a software then diagnose it themselves!! damage already done and theyre not going to do anything about their screw up!! they should be sued!.

Vehicle shut off when in driving mode no check engine lights come on and no other codes pop on when vehicle was scan. Two miss calls on the highway almost got into a bad accident.

Took my vehicle into my local kia dealer for a letter titled "product improvement campaign" sent from "corporate headquarters" to perform a "software update on 2014-2016 gasoline direct injection (gdi) engine to protect the engine from excessive connecting rod bearing damage. Upon picking it up from the dealership, the cel (check engine light) immediately began flashing within a few miles of driving off the dealership. In taking it to the dealership, and with their collaboration with the corporate headquarters, kia is unable to fix my car. I have had a rental car for 30 days now. Kia has offered 2 cash amounts for compensation, both of which will not cover replacing the engine. The car worked perfect before all this began and I have records to prove that. Vehicle was meticulously dealer only maintained. I have requested a new engine from a non-problematic 2017 or newer kia Soul or a 2017or newer kia Soul replacement vehicle. I have not heard back from kia corporate headquarters as of yet. Was told I would hear from someone by 10/30/2020.

While driving on a street at 55 mph my car suddenly stalled and the front wheels locked for second. Luckily it was dry straight pavement so I was able to safely pull over. I was able to restart the car but it had a very load knock so I immediately shut the car back off. The check engine light never came on even after the engine failed. It is my understanding kia has recalled this same 2. 0 liter engine in other model cars but not the Soul. The car only has 75k miles and has the oil changed every 5k miles. It seems this is the same issue causing engine seize and fires in other models and should be considered in the recall. The only solution after the failure is to replace the engine and who knows how long the replacement engine will last before suffering the same failure.

2014 kia Soul with 2. 0 engine (84,000 miles) suddenly started knocking then locked up going around 60 mph on the highway. This was so sudden that it caused the tires to squeal. If anyone had been behind me there is a great chance it would have caused an accident. Then it unlocked and continued knocking. At no time did any lights come on such as the check engine or oil lights. I pulled off and had the vehicle towed. The dealership informed me that the engine would have to be replaced at a cost $6,000. 00 which is close to the overall value of the vehicle. I am now facing a very difficult financial dilemma and hardship for something beyond my control.

Tampa FL) who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the catalytic converter and oil pan was previously replaced but approximately 1000 miles later the failure occurred. The failure mileage was 91,000. Jft.

After receiving the recall notification, I took my 2014 kia Soul into the kia dealership to have recall repairs completed on 07/29/2019. The catalytic overheating protection engine control unit logic was upgraded; however, the check engine light came on a few days later indicating a problem with the catalytic converter. Local repair shop informed me that kia should have completely replaced the catalytic converter under the recall. I have been attempting to resolve the issue with the kia dealership and their corporate customer service department. But I've received nothing but the runaround (waiting on the dealership to respond to an email from corporate customer service department) for almost two months. Meanwhile, the engine continues to misfire and the car experiences a severe loss of power whenever accelerating.

My 2014 kia Soul kept getting check engine light on code p050a when cold outside since November 2019. It started to do so since I got the ecm flashed in may 2019 for recall sc176. Dealership does not have a solution to fix the issue.

Check inline light is on and it keeps reading catholic converter and it won't go off I switched my gas from 87 to 93 and did a fuel treatment and at times it won't go over 35 miles per hour and the check engine light keeps flashing and my gas runs out fast I've gotten a tune up done and a oil change.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that the engine made an abnormal rugged noise. The noise engine died and the noise was a distraction to the contact's driving. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph the vehicle began to lose power, the contact stated that the check engine light illuminated so they pulled over vehicle to check the engine. Upon opening the hood, when he found the engine compartment was on fire. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. There were no injuries. The vehicles failure mileage 80,000. Ep the failure date 7/29/2019.

I went to the kia dealership and they did the recall on my engine. The cuyler dealership told me that they would need to replace the cop ecu logic and the catalytic converter. They told me that the engine doesn't need to be replaced. I got the recall done on a Friday. , and the next day my check engine light was back on and my oil light keeps coming on. I believe I need a whole new engine. I'm just really disappointed in how it turned out. My check engine light should not be on!.

The floor board is always warm. The car seems to drive fine for about 20 -30 mins and then the car seems to lose power and will barely go uphill. . . Check engine light has been on for a catalytic converter in the past but went back out. Car has been at kia now since June 18th. . . Have a case with kia America. Dealer told me the cat was clogged. Now worried about engine damage because of clogged cat. Vehicle is under recall sc176 via kia.

Vehicle in motion,driving in a parking lot at approximately 12mph when the engine stalled. Engine failed to restart after several attempts. Initial diagnosis and repair from kia dealership said internal damage to fuel pump. Less than one hour after picking vehicle up noted noise from engine during acceleration and check engine light came on. Took the car back to the dealership and dtc code indicated an issue with catalytic converter.

Additionally, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there were several issues shown which included the camshaft sensor failure and the downstream oxygen sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. A n authorized kia dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 114000. Ah.

I believe my car should be added to the recalls especially the catalytic converter recall I found it very odd that I hae an issue with it only having the car for a few years. My check engine light came on and found out it was the catalytic converter.

My car engine exploded and car caught fire. Kia said they will not do anything about it. The engine was making a lawn mower noise prior with no check engine light then a few days later the engine blew. I was in cruise control when all this happened. By the time I made my way to the edge of the road my car was fully engulfed.

In March of 2017, engine failed and lost power while doing 50mph at 78k miles on the car. Was told by dean mccrary kia of mobile, al that a rod bearing was knocking and engine locking up. I was current on all oil changes and maintenance, unfortunately I did not fall under the 100k mile warranty because the vehicle had 500 miles on it when I purchased and I wasn't considered the original owner. After a month of back and forth with kia customer service was told that kia engineers inspected it and found that piston rod broke and punctured the block and metal shavings were found in the oil pan. Kia finally said that they would "goodwill" the cost of the engine and reimburse the month that I was in a rental car, but that I would have to pay the $1040 in labor charges for engine replacement. I was also told that if the engine problem was ever recalled, I would be reimbursed for the labor charges. Immediately after the new engine was put in, I got a check engine light for p0420. Back to dean mcrary and they replaced the catalytic converter. I was temporarily happy yesterday to see a recall on the cat converter from April 2019 that showed it would cause the same engine problem. Called kia customer service to see if I could be reimbursed the labor fees and was told that they would not that it is a totally different problem. My exact engine that failed was recalled by Hyundai and for other models of kia's. I'm still dumbfounded that I have to eat this labor cost and don't know where to turn to. I have all the paperwork to show what happened for both the engine and the catalytic converter.
