Recall sc200 engine compartment fire safety hazard. While driving after I got off the interstate and got off on my exit, I heard a knocking noise in engine, then oil light and engine light came on, I get my oil changed on the regular, smelled really hot had to turn off the car it scared me because it also started to deaccelerate would not go over like 30 40 mph. The noise was terrible I was so scared the engine was going to explode I had to have it towed. Now after the kia consumer told me multiple times they approved the engine replacement the dealership had some issue due to an ecu ksds update that I was not notified of and it was never preformed. So she apologized by telling me the information that was previously provided mutiple times was incorrect and I would need to pay out of pocket. I read over the sc200 engine inspection test recall letter. It actually states they will preform the ksds ecu software update in addition to this recall. Not the other way around. Sent another escalation because this is not fault of my own the car is broke down and also not my fault they gave me the wrong information (so they say. ) regardless they should replace it because they already told me it was approved to be fixed and for a rental. I have still not gotten any thing. I am completely.
The 2014 Soul has less than 100k miles on it, but when my daughter traveled home, thanksgiving 2020, right as she pulled into our parking spot, both the check engine light and oil light came on. She had just had the software update to move the car into limp home mode if there was engine problems, and sure enough, when she went to drive the car the next morning, the car was in limp home mode. Took it to the nearest kia dealership where they indicated that there was knocking noises coming from the engine with a code p1326 and that the engine long block needed to be replaced. It is completely undriveable. I have been waiting to find out if her engine is one that is being recalled by kia but if it is not it should be.
Rod bearing failure causing the engine to seize. Happened with no warning signs, after getting the vehicle's oil/engine changed or filtered an unusual amount of times. Seems to be happening between 80k-120k miles on average. When engine seized the Soul drove as normal, began making a knocking noise and seconds later it shut off.
Losing oil and having a knocking noise coming from engine. Kia motors had us take a vehicle oil consumption test that revealed loss of 1/2 quart every 500 miles. They also had us take a compression test, and three separate trips to the dealer for video analysis. After six weeks they finally declared the car under warranty. They ordered a short block engine and sent the head of the engine out to be retooled by a local shop. After over three weeks we got the car back. In a time period of one week the car had a series of events. The engine shut off in traffic on my way to work, it also had a period were when starting the car, it shook like crazy, but started. The top cover I found out later that it shook off its pegs and was resting loose on the top of the engine and was losing oil. I had to add 1/2 quart. The diagnostic on my partner's WI-fi in the car had a diagnostic error stating the cam-shaft was having problems. At first I thought a new engine was just breaking in, but the final straw was a large pool of automotive fluid on the garage floor. The dealership has taken the car back to work on it further. Both the mechanic who put the engine back together and the service manager whom I initially talked to are now gone. I started this process on 06/10/20, picked up a repaired car on 09/29/20, and returned it in a week. As I write this comment it is now 10/17/20 and do not know what is going to happen and if there is any more damage to the engine with all that has occurred after the warranty repairs. The car is in my partner's name of patricia a holcomb.
As we excited the freeway, the car started running rough at the stop light. As I pulled into the gas station the engine stopped running on its own and I heard a loud "ping". After numerous attempts to re-start the car, we had to leave it at the gas station over night. When I was trying to re-start the car I noticed the engine wasn't cranking at all, almost like it was a dead battery. In the morning the car started right up but with a horrible loud knocking sound coming from the engine. I had to drive it home which is about 3miles, I had no other options. It was explained to me it was a rod knocking. I still owe $8,247. 89 and to fix it is going to be well over $5,000. The car has 109,776 miles, my husband maintained it religiously, and to have this happen so close into paying it off is devastating as this was our only car. There was no warning, no check engine light, no low oil light, no rough idling or out of place sounds.
While driving our 2014 kia Soul base 2. 0l on the highway at approximately 60mph, the engine suddenly started making a very loud knocking noise. The driver was able to pull off at the next ramp to check the oil. There was no oil on the stick and it had a burnt smell. There oil had been changed by the dealership about 6 weeks prior, and we had no indication that the oil was low, the engine hasn't been smoking, and there was no oil on the ground. The shop has never mentioned our oil being low when we came in for a change. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They have since told us the engine needs to be completely replaced. Of course we are just past the warranty with about 109,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall at various speeds. The contact stated she had to wait approximately a minute before regaining normal functionality. The instrument panel would display d for drive for a moment however, the drive indicator would suddenly disappear as the vehicle stalled. The drive display would return once the vehicle regained function. The contact stated the vehicle made an excessive rattling or banging sound when starting the vehicle. The contact stated that oil had to be added to the vehicle approximately every two weeks. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who repaired the catalytic converter twice. The mechanic stated that the pressure from one of the cylinders within the vehicle was causing oil to leak internally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Loud clanging / knocking sound from the engine. Subsequently the car stopped running- unable to start. Before the car stopped running, I was able to pull off of freeway.
While driving the engine made a knocking sound and then seized. Towed to the shop. Mechanic reported catastrophic engine failure.
My car while driving on 65 hospital curve - louisville ky- dangerous spot- the car slowed right down and a loud knocking noise came from under the hood - engine - I was forced to pull off next exit and park. I had changed my oil 5-6 weeks prior. I contacted kia customer service they said there was nothing they could do. After leaving a bad review - they offered to diagnose it - but wouldn't pay for it to be fixed - it only has just over 80k on it and I have only driven 27 k in 2-3 yrs.
I heard a knocking noise in my engine (66k). I had just changed the oil 4 months ago and was due for an oil change so calmly I went to check my engine and I was met with an unwelcome surprise, my engine was abnormally low on oil. I never had any inclination oil was leaving as I had no trace of leaks and my oil light never came on initially I thought maybe I could just put some more oil and take it to get the oil changed and the issue would be over. I was told by firestone, I should take to the dealer to get checked since it might still be under warranty. I did drive the car home and then to the dealer because I now had fresh oil and should be able to have the issue remedied. It took the dealer over a week to hear back from the tech line, with me calling constantly to get an update. Only to be told there is nothing covered because I have fresh oil in my engine. It would cost me $5,600 to replace the engine. I was left with no recourse, since I cannot trade, but to have the engine replaced at my own expense. I started to do research and learned the class action lawsuit for the gdi motors failing due to faulty rods. I discovered, my rods were shot and eventually as I was driving to the mechanic to have the new engine installed, something seemed to have shot through my oil pan causing a hole in oil and total engine failure, on the highway. At this point, I had to call a tow truck and endured safety hazards on the highway. I initially saw no point in having towed to the shop for almost 30 miles because that was the best deal, I could find to install the engine I bought. I also found out I had to have my clutch replaced. This whole scenario caused me a great deal of stress, worry, and financial trouble. I ended up paying close to $2,800 to have a used gdi engine installed.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While driving 50 mph on the freeway. The engine made a weird knocking noise and the vehicle slowed down. The contact smelled a burning odor, pulled off the highway, and had the vehicle towed to sunset kia (3401 auburn way n, auburn, wa 98002, (855) 474-9626). The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the cause was not directly related to the recall because their scanner was not reading the catalytic converter code being damaged. Because of this, the dealer refused to repair the vehicle per the recall. The manufacturer provided a case number, but stated that the final decision would have to be made by the district parts manager. The failure mileage was 87,500.
Car is going through all of its oil. Goes through approximately 1qt every 1,500 miles. When I first came across this problem the car was making a loud knocking sound, took it to the dealer and there was approx 1 quart of oil in the car. I only drove about 3,000 miles since the last full synthetic oil change. The dealership is telling me this isn't excessive and it is completely normal. I can only drive 1,500 miles until the oil is no longer showing on the dip stick. Currently still working with the dealership to prove there is a problem with these engines. I got a oil change approx 250 miles ago and have to drive 1,000 total and they will examine the car again.
As I was driving down the highway, "55 mph" speed limit was 60 mph my acceleration went out on my car and I couldn't go any faster then 20/25mph. My car started to sound like a weed eater and I never got a single light for something being wrong. As I pulled over to the side of the road my cars engine started to make a knocking sound. I had it towed to a shop close to were I live and they told me that the engine had pieces of metal flakes in it and that it was locked. They also said that it was 3. 5 quarts low of oil but I just had the oil change and had about 3,500 miles left before I needed my next oil change. I'm writing on here because I called kia and they told me that my 2. 0 engine didn't have a recall on it, but as I research I continue to find many people who have a 2. 0 engine having the same issue of the recall on the 1. 6 engines.
I just purchased a 2014 kia Soul exclaim and it is in perfect condition until I started hearing knocking noise coming out of the engine. I pulled on the side of the road and called towing company to get it towed to closet kia dealership, I was told it wasn't under a recall and that the other kia Soul(base) is the one under the recall. Which I have to pay around 10k to get it fixed! with a new engine. Car is well taken care of and that issue just came out from nowhere. I strongly believe that NHTSA recall campaign number 19v120000(engine) catalytic converter temperature should be applied to the 2014 kia Soul plus.
While driving our 2014 kia Soul plus on a highway the car started making a loud tapping/knocking sound. Within a half mile the sound became much louder and worse. No warning lights came on. We pulled off an exit. We checked the oil. Nothing registered on dipstick. We put 2 quarts in and it registered. When oil cap was removed it was steaming/smoking and there was burnt oil on cap. After restarting the engine and idling for a few minutes the check engine light finally came on. It was now after 9:00pm so nothing was open. We had to spend the night as we were stranded out of state. The next morning we got the car to the nearest kia dealership. We were told the engine was blown and we'd need a new engine. It was no longer under warranty. The car was only 5 years old and had 68288 miles on it. We had no good choice but to purchase a new car and trade the blown engine as we were stranded out of state. (we were quoted around $6,000+ and a couple weeks for a new engine. ) the engine oil had been checked and topped off before leaving on this trip. We put approximately 1,000 miles on the car on this trip. I have receipts. Our cars 2. 0 engine was not part of the recent recall. However that is exactly what happened to our car and should be recalled. We were very frightened and extremely fortunate we were able to pull off the highway safely and there was no engine fire.
While driving on the highway a load knocking sound occurred. I was able to stop within 1 mile to avoid catastrophic engine failure that would have either caused a crash or fire as many kia Soul engines have caused. Even though kia is recalling 2012 to 2016 Souls they told me my VIN was not included as per the highway traffic safety dept. The engine was diagnosed with failed rod bearing by a kia dealership. This failure is the typical failure that should be covered under the recall due to the near miss of a possible fire.
I got a 2014 kia Soul in June of 2018 . The vehicle was ok until July 2019. I noticed that I was always very low on oil and I was very much on top of my oil changes. I would have to put at least 3 quarts of oil in the car every 3 weeks. The day before I broke down my oil light came on so I put a quart of oil in it. Next day (the day I broke down)while I was driving back from dropping off a bank deposit for my job, the vehicle started to jerk. The street I was driving on is pretty busy 45mph. I was able to pull over and noticed my oil light was flashing. Because of this happening my manager had to come and follow behind me to park it back at the job. While driving there was a huge knocking noise that got worst when I tried to accelerate. Because of this happening I was out of a car for over two weeks because the dealership was packed and lost wages. My major concern is having children as well.
While driving my 2014 kia Soul on a country road, without warning, a knocking sound began. I pulled over and called my husband, who prompted me to check the oil. I had never missed an oil change, there were no leaks, no smoking and everything was tight and clean. I was shocked to find there was no oil at all. The oil light had never come on. I called the dealership and they prompted me to add oil and bring it in immediately. It died near the corner of the dealership and was pushed into the service center where I was told it needed a new engine.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light and attempting to drive off there was a knocking sound coming from under the hood of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
We purchased a car from a small lot selling used cars in tempe, arizona. At 20 days and about 800 miles the car began to make a loud knocking noise as my son was driving the car into our neighborhood going about 5-10 miles per hour. He shut off the car. I checked the oil dipstick and there was zero oil in the car. I immediately called the salesperson about this issue. He said we could tow it to him to look at it and he insisted that he changed the oil in the car before we ever drove it. Due to my concern that there was no oil in the car, I added 2. 5 quarts. There have been no oil leaks since we purchased the car, nor were there any after I added the 2. 5 quarts. We had the car towed to the dealer on a Friday morning and no real work was completed. I called kia corporate and they told me they were aware of this issue where the oil would just evaporate and that it was covered under sc147. Kia corporate had me call a local kia dealership and that's when the service dept said kia corporate was wrong. I made a return call to kia corporate who corrected the first agent and told me they were wrong and that I have to pay out of pocket for this issue. The engine issue should be covered under a class action lawsuit - this is the same symptoms as other class action lawsuits at this time for other kia vehicles.
Just finished gassing up after work from highway driving and oil light starts flicking on and off really fast for a min then goes away . After I pull off the main road to a neighborhood I'm about to pull over to check car and go over a speed bump car dies. So I get out pop hood open oil cap there no oil and fumes coming out and I really didnt get a warning light or anything to warn me there wasnt any oil other then the flickering light that just went off. It has 100000 miles got oil changed every 4000 to 5000 it last had one at 96000. So I have someone pick me up I get oil put I. It doesnt start I leave over night find out cpu has a sensor to protect engine from further damage if it gets hot so I disconnect battery and reconnect it starts but now theres a knocking sound I take it 2 min away to firestone they listen to it and say the problem is a internal motor problem they cant fix sounds like a rod broke. Or loose. So I have towed to dealer for now. I just saw the news about them catching fire and basically put 2 and 2 together. The cars are eating too much oil due to a regulator sensor and the oil sensor is not letting people now there isn't any or that its low til it's too late so the rods break and puncture the motor causing oil to leak and catch fire due to heat. So now I have a car that's undrivable that I have to pay possibly for a new engine due to a faulty distribution sensor and oil light warning system that causes overheating of the motor. I hope my recall notice comes soon to replace this motor cause I don't have 4 000 to 6000 dollars to replace a new one.
Driving down the highway when oil light started flickering out of nowhere. I exited the next exit about a 1/4 mile. Turned down a street and went over a speed bump and car died. So tried to start up nothing happens. . Next day towed it to dealer they said they reset battery and started up the engine was knocking sounded like a broken connecting rod which is an issue with all kias. He said the engines connecting rods are breaking and puncturing the engines causing fires. I told him I just got a oil change 3200 miles ago and checked it last week cause I just got married and traveled out of town. The dealers wont touch it now for recall because it's a 2. 0 liter so now I have a car that I pay for that doesnt run. I pick my children up in this vehicle and they could have been injured is the scary part.
My daughter was driving the vehicle on 02/22/2019, and it started making a loud knocking sound. We were able to get the car home and drove it to the dealer on 02/23/2019. The vehicle didn't make it all the way to the dealer. The dealer determined that the engine failed and that there was extensive rod bearing damage. This vehicle had only 77526 miles on it.
Engine blew we took it to avon, in kia dealer. They checked it out and said it was a blown engine. The shop manager also informed us that this year had inferior parts put in it. Than they told us it was not covered under any recall and that our warranty had expired. We had call kia corp and they had given us a case number than they turned around and said they would not cover it either. The vehicle was on a highway when this happen heard a lot of metal on metal and knocking sound. Had the vehicle towed from that point.
Every time I start my car, there is a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. There is also an oil leak, and my oil light came on 3,000 miles before I was due for an oil change. The knocking will subside, but come back in spurts as I am driving.
Was driving down city street when vehicle started to stall and make a knocking noise from the engine. Pulled over checked and added a little oil, and when went to start the car it was slow to start and engine light is on and remained on. Oil is fine.
When driving, it started to make a loud knocking noise out of no where had 2 shops confirm they have to get into the engine to see exactly what was inside. This car was well maintained. No reason the engine should have gone out. Car was 4 feet down my street when it started knocking really loudly. Was not even running for a minute.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact heard an abnormal knocking noise coming from the engine compartment. In addition, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was no oil in the vehicle. The contact was concerned that there was no warning indicator to alert them of the oil level. The vehicle was also towed to crain kia of bentonville (2901 moberly ln, bentonville, ar) where the failure was confirmed. The dealer recommended that the engine be replaced. The oil alert failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost a large amount of power and made clanking and knocking noises. The vehicle was able to be driven home at 10 mph. The vehicle was towed to car pros kia huntington beach (18835 beach blvd, huntington beach, CA 92648, (714) 274-6176) who stated that they would have to investigate the failure; however, they mentioned that the engine may need to be replaced. 11/10/ driving south bound on the taconic state parkway my vechicle started making a knocking sound and stalled during driving. Luckily I was on the rt hand side and made it to pull over. Got my car told and mechanic told me my engine seized. He also told me this wasn't the first 2014 kia Soul that this has happened too. Took me by surprise because my vehicle has never missed an oil change. I called kia and they are looking into it.
Knocking noises for long time. Scraping noise. Lighting dim and flases. Noise tunnel causing auditory hallucinations. Burning smell. Leaking oil.
